Happy Valentine's Day everyone π BTW, I feel crabby as hell today, for absolutely NO REASON. π Well, except that I'm contemplating getting rid of my grandkids toys, and all of my dang Beanie Babies. They're all too old to play with them anymore. My youngest grand who lives here in Illinois just turned 13. π But I really need to de-crappify this house. It might be morbid, but lately I've been thinking about how hard it was to go through my mom and dad's stuff when they passed. (I'll be 70 in May) π¬ The worst part was the strife and greed it caused between some of my siblings. (I'm one of 7) which still hasn't completely healed. I don't want that for my 5 kids. ::::::sigh:::::: I think I just need to give away whatever toys I can to my daughter-in-law for her grandkids (they're also my step-great-grands, but they never come to my house like my grandkids used to.) I think I should start taking pictures of all all the toys they used to play with, to remember all the great times I had with them when they were all itty-bitty. I am so sad just thinking about doing it, ngl. (sorry so long, but I'm obviously avoiding doing the actual work) π

This is the first time I ever watched the feeds, and it was so worth it just to see the double-Todds fall. (even though it sounds like Todrick is safe.. booo!) -

I had my sound way up, and could only hear them agree that they had a deal, but didn't hear them actually make the deal. -

From the above link: "From approximately March of 2002 until March of 2003, the Plaintiffs were sexually abused by their brother, Joshua. He was 14 years old when the abuse began and 15 years old when it ended. At the time of the abuse, the Plaintiffs ranged in age from 5 to 11 years old, "the document states. "Their parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, discovered the abuse but did not report it to the police or any state agency. Instead, they decided to keep it a secret and discipline Joshua privately." "However, Jim Bob and Michelle had confided in their close friends Jim and Bobye Holt. "In 2003, the Holts' daughter, Kaeleigh, wrote a summary of what she had heard from her parents about the abuse in a letter to her favorite author. Instead of mailing the letter, she placed it in a book, which she left on her bookshelf. There the secret remained until 2006, when Kaeleigh loaned the book to a friend and fellow church member," the document states." "Kaeleigh's friend found the letter and shared its contents with her parents. From that point on, the Duggars' family secret spread by word of mouth to the other members of their close-knit church community. It is unknown exactly how many church members learned of the abuse, but the news caused factions to form within the church, and certain church members evidently disagreed with how the matter was being handled," the document continues."

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
ChiCricket replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
OMGosh, I don't know how lawyers can do this day after day. I started reading this transcript, and within minutes my eyes were crossing at all the legal jargon. I learned how to speed-read in 4th grade, but even skipping chunks, this took quite a while to read (I would stop and fully read the sections that caught my eye.) The main thing I want to comment on is: (BTW, IANAL, or even close to it, this was just what *I* took from the transcript) 1. the defense tried so hard to imply that Josh wasn't allowed to contact his lawyer and/or leave at any time. Not true at all. (IMO) 2. they also tried really hard to implicate other people, one of whom was not knowledgeable at all about computers. He said he only had Facebook for about 15 minutes before he got into an argument with an online stranger, and had to go across the street to ask his neighbor to delete Facebook from his phone for him. 3. the amount of pages in that transcript that had to do with just the scar on Josh's hand was mind-boggling, but I slogged through just to see what the outcome would be. This was where I *think* they were trying to say the government should have had a warrant(?) to take pictures of Josh's hands. The defense lost this appeal, I think. (I'm sure I'm not using the proper lawyer-y words here.) Seriously, I don't know how lawyers do this... and I was interested in this case. I can't even imagine doing this all the time. Wow Kudos to the hard-working lawyers that helped convict Josh. Ps. forgot to mention that the other employees thought they were under constant video surveillance when they were in Josh's office. Only Josh knew they weren't actually recording anything. -
I was watching a little bit of curling today, and all I could think was how come the players don't fall right on their butts on the ice with those shoes! π

What a dipshit...does he know he's not the only one on the road?! π π π From:https://www.cdc.gov/sleep/about_sleep/drowsy_driving.html#:~:text=Lack of sleep can make,as drinking too much alcohol. "Lack of sleep can make you less alert and affect your coordination, judgement, and reaction time while driving. This is known as cognitive impairment. Studies have shown that going too long without sleep can impair your ability to drive the same way as drinking too much alcohol." Ugh.

You're killing me here. π Full disclosure, I have a picture of Lin-Manuel Miranda as my Screensaver.. because I'm obsessed with him.. and I think he's HAWT! π€£ ( my husband of almost 53 years is ok with this) π So... I know you're obsessed with GWE... but do you also think he's a HAWT hunk? ππ€£

I hope anyone in the path of this upcoming snow storm stays safe. Seems like it's aimed at some areas that don't usually get much snow, and therefore aren't as prepared as Chicagoland usually is. π Not to jinx it, but it looks like our area is just going to get lightly dusted. Hurry and get your bread and milk (maybe a bottle of wine, too) π

My 3 grands in New Mexico now have all tested positive for covid. They feel cruddy, but otherwise doing OK.. Just congested, feverish, and sneezy. (all 3 are one time vaxxed. ) My daughter and her husband so far haven't gotten it. (both are vaxxed and boosted.) She wrote this to me: "Now it is like the Zombie apocalypse here. The kids (zombies) are all infected and hanging out together unmasked in the living room, binge-watching Disney+. If N or I (non-zombies) come downstairs they yell at us to "stay away!" Which is good because (as I've mentioned) he's a doctor and badly needed rn. FEMA even sent in military people to help in his hospital.. all the doctors and nurses are exhausted (plus I'm sure everyone else that works there.) He said they're a great help (especially lifting and turning patients.) The end. π Ps I lied.. one more thing: Still no test results.. but I did get this today.

I never got mine either. They said 5-7 days and today is the 7th day, and nothing. At least today I finally feel 1/2 human again. The most lingering symptom is my sore throat, and if I try to talk above a whisper, I have a SEVERE (β’JRodπ) coughing fit and can't catch my breath. Did this happen to anyone else who got (what I can assume is) covid?

OMGosh I always thought being in jail would suck, but after seeing this: "The jail also offers the A.M. Delight Care Pack for $44. This includes two instant coffee packets, five cappuccino packets, five hot chocolate packets, one creamer" <snip> I think the worst possible punishment would be NO coffee when I felt like having it! I get terrible caffeine withdrawal headaches when I try and go cold-turkey, so I always fall off the wagon. (I hope FF got the worst headache ever.) π
