You want depressing war movies? How about Casualties of War? That was just horrific on so many levels. It probably would have even been worse had I understood what the poor girl was screaming throughout her ordeal. And I felt for Michael J. Fox's character too: even though he tried to help the girl escape and later reported her rape and murder to the authorities, it was never going to be enough to absolve his guilt that he didn't do more. The part where he's urging the girl to go, and she won't because (presumably) she's scared and has no idea where she was and needed him to go with her just tore my heart out.

Since Tommen is now the king (and will hopefully be a bigger character in the next season), I thought I'd start a topic for him. From what we've seen so far, he seems nice enough for a Lannister. He definitely loves kittens, as evidence by the adorable Ser Pounce. Do you think he really believes that Tyrion killed Joffrey? The part of Tyrion's trial where he had to officially wash his hands of judging Tyrion was depressing when you remember how he close he and his sister were with their uncle. Tyrion's sad little nod just killed me.

Season 5: Say It Ain't So! Good-bye Detective Michael Logan
Spartan Girl replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Law & Order
Good luck to you too, ScorpioRule. I hope everything works out for you as well. -
Alfred is the best butler ever. Seriously. Bruce and Selina kissed! Squee! I love the idea of her lending a hand in his pre-Batman training. I loved Harvey's "Am I the only one in this damn town that calls for backup anymore?!" Heh.

Season 5: Say It Ain't So! Good-bye Detective Michael Logan
Spartan Girl replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Law & Order
No I totally agree, ScoripoRule. I hated how the women in that episode complained about being "massacred"; I understand why they might feel that way, but it's better than being DEAD, for goodness' sakes. And lots of women have had breast surgery that went on to live completely healthy normal lives! Best of luck and prayers to your grandmother. -
"YOU'RE DISGUSTING! YOU ARE!" The Worst Parents on SVU

Yup it does :) -
As long as we're talking about stuff that made us mad in the Batman movies, then ladies and gentlemen of PTV forums, I bring to you the case of Rachel Dawes. I couldn't fucking stand her. Bad enough that she was played by Katie Holmes, ruining what was almost nearly perfect casting. But I think if she were played by anyone else, I would have hated her anyway -- I only tolerated her slightly more when Maggie G took over. I hated how in Batman Begins she was so pissy about Bruce not contacting her that he was back from his long absence from Gotham. She had no right to be upset when the last time she saw him, she deliberately ditched him in front of a mob get-together! Even she was upset that he almost killed Joe Chill, that's still a shitty thing to do. And the whole "I can't be with you until you're not Batman anymore" shit. If she couldn't handle him as Batman, fine, but the fact that she added "Maybe we can be together when you're done" makes it feel like she's stringing him along. She was definitely stringing him along in The Dark Knight; to give her credit, she did genuinely love Harvey Dent, but she should have just been straight with Bruce from the beginning without giving him the whole "Don't make me your only hope for a normal life." Well then don't make promises you can't keep, bitch! I'm sorry but the fact that this useless, self-righteous, whiny twit was the reason why Bruce became a recluse for 8 years and drove Harvey Dent crazy enough to want to kill an innocent child is just mind-boggling. Dudes, she wasn't worth it! Say want you want about Selina Kyle, but I'll still take her over Rachel any day of the week.

OMG that list is just so perfect. Whoever wrote it, from your screen to Shonda's ears. Hey if they can kill off the shitty husband in HTGAWM... -

Shakespeare Movies/Adaptations

God, the musical score from that Romeo and Juliet is so easy to get stuck in your head. Maybe that's why I always found that film poignantly heartbreaking, despite the unbelievable suddenness of the romance. That and Whiting and Hussey really sold their performances. Every time "A Time for Us" comes on the radio...gah. -
She took it like a champ, gotta give her that.. Olivia, if you actually chose yourself over Jake and Fitz, you'd stop bringing up Vermont and the sun all together instead of keeping an open door on both of them.

I really don't like "The 3 Gays of the Condo." The story is just so stupid for a whole mess of reasons. First and foremost, why would Marge hang on to that angry break-up letter instead of destroying it like any normal person would. Maybe she just threw it somewhere and forgot about it but still. And I really hated how when Lisa asked why doesn't she just apologize before everything gets blown even more out of proportion than it already was, Marge refused to because of "gender superiority." Oh, and if you don't want to get embarrassed at a Medieval Nights restaurant, maybe you don't want to tell the staff you're having a reconciliation dinner like it's a birthday or something. That's the sort of thing that most couples keep to themselves. I think this is the episode when I started to really dislike Marge.

Two And A Half Men - General Discussion
Spartan Girl replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Two And A Half Men
Hopefully that's the last we've seen of Lyndsey. She's just awful. Although I really wish Alan had reamed her out for wrecking his wedding to Gretchen. -
The Cinderella trailer looks good. I was amazed that HBC is going for the traditional fairy godmother look, I was so sure she was going to goth it up with sunglasses and black lace, but nothing beats a classic. I'm pretty sure someone has already made a joke about Cinderella leaving Robb Stark at the ball because the orchestra started playing "Rains of Castemere."

I rolled my eyes when she blamed Benson and the police for everything. Lady, if it was just you, it might be "your choice" but when you have a child, they should be taken into account too! Just saying...

So many episodes on this show were creepy, but I agree with "Phantom" and "Family Values" (the bastard even killed his own dog!) "Playing Dead" is creepy in the fact that the councilman guy was molesting his stepdaughter. The way he came at her when she was in the bath and how she tried to kill herself afterwards...God. Even worse was how when she and Goren confronted him and he tried to scare her off by telling her how she "teased" him and got him excited by running around with her clothes off when she was little. SHE WAS A CHILD, YOU SICK PERVERT! But I did like how Goren comforted her and assured her that the shame would be all on him.

Season 7: Jamie Ross, Former Bond Girl
Spartan Girl replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Law & Order
I know it was wrong for the mother in law to put a hit out on him, but considering the fact that she was totally right about him killing her son, you can't really blame her. God, can you imagine how the wife felt when she realized the truth? I almost felt sorry for her. Yeah, she was no part of the murder and she didn't cheat him her first husband before he was killed, but still she was so clueless... -
Shakespeare Movies/Adaptations
Spartan Girl replied to Spartan Girl's topic in Everything Else About Movies
Does anyone else think that Leonard Whiting in the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet looked and sounded like Zac Efron? I wonder if they're distantly related or it's just a coincidence... I always get a kick out of their version of the wedding scene because of how the friar has to literally get between them because they were snogging each other so hard. -
Seriously, it's like they're turning her into every crappy superhero love interest. Oh well. At least we got to see Bruce and Selina interact. Now THAT'S a couple I actually care about.

So we actually got to meet Hot Gwen -- voiced by Uma Thurman! No idea it was her until the credits. I know this episode was kind of inconsistent with everything we heard about Gwen before, but I still enjoyed it. Stan teaching Steve how to use a hug for a cheap feel was hilarious and all sorts of wrong. "You smoked in the science lab?" "You think I give a shiiiit?" Oh Francine. Getting moved to TBS was the best thing that happened to this show.

Emily's response to David's self-righteous hypocritical "I told you to forgive" was awesome. "You left a journal detailing everyone that ruined our lives! What did you think I was going to do?!" We've all been asking that for years. Unfortunately, I'm not even remotely interested in this show anymore to see if she's going to get through to her dipshit of a father. Again, they should have let David Clarke be dead.

Damn I was really hoping that Carol was faking an injury just to get into the hospital and blow them up from the inside. I too am afraid this is the beginning of her send-off...but I really hope it isn't because she deserves to stay around longer after blowing Terminus up.
