After three weeks of intense voting and a seriously tough competition, a winner has been crowned in our 2015 Girl on Top competition. This final round was an especially close one, with less than 2% occasionally separating finalists Caitriona Balfe and Emily Bett Rickards throughout the week of voting.

Nice exchange of fandom tweets...

17. Stephen Amell (Arrow)

He portrays each facet of his character with such nuance and conviction, it is remarkable. He should be nominated for the emotions he portrays with his eyes alone. It can’t be easy helming a superhero show (that tends to sprout more superhero shows), but Captain Amell does a fine job of it. All hail the Green Arrow!

It's a pretty decent list, agree with a lot of them. Some may make it off the list. There are a few a think only need another season or poignant story arc. Sadly, SA & the other CW/MTV actors I don't think will ever be recognized for what they do. They really should broaden the acting categories, but that's another story for another day.

The Hollywood reporter finally revealed their list of  Hollywood's 100 Favorite TV Shows Ever

Arrow the only CW current show on that list

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/best-tv-shows-ever-top-819499

Arrow is #90 on this list:

Bruce Wayne has a whole cave of crime-fighting toys, but all Oliver Queen gets is a bow and arrow. "We wanted to make it grounded and real," says Wendy Mericle, executive producer of the DC Comics-based show. "Not just about superheroes but people who are going through real trauma. That's why it resonates."

#5. Arrow
21571618269_9b49bffa0d.jpg

Why It Made the List: Issues with the storytelling in its third season aside, Arrow had been the best written superhero comic book adapted show. It was able to navigate between love story melodrama, police procedural and vigilante storytelling to serve all masters. Stephen Amell was perfect as Oliver Queen, and the introduction of Diggle and Felicity Smoak more than made up for his annoying ex-lovers Sara and Laurel, not to mention his bratty sister Thea. However, (and I loathe when a show “kills” off a character only to bring them back) the standout character Malcolm Merlyn and how evil and manipulative he can be, makes this a the show.

It's just his personal list... and at least he gives his rationales. My only complaint with The Flash coming in #1 is that it only has 1 season, same thing with iZombie & Daredevil being on his list. You can't compare 1 freshman season to some of these other series that have sustained themselves for multiple seasons, give or take a few off seasons. If its best ever shows, I feel like they need at least 2 seasons before they can take the title. Maybe these freshman shows just got lucky in the first season. If its best on TV now, than I have no problem with FLASH or any freshman series taking top spots if they are coming off a really good season. Every show can have an amazing season 1, but its harder to sustain that level of amazing. A lot of why he likes the Flash, may not even be relevant moving forward to future seasons, so will s2 be a top show? It's hard to say.

Smallville? Should only make Top Worst lists, IMO.

I personally thought Flash S1 was better than Arrow S1. It was a stronger season overall and (with the exception of Iris) missed most of Arrow's S1 pitfalls.

I think Arrow's never really had a Great season. Arrow's best "season" was essentially 114 to 209 which is really 2-half seasons. As for the rest, it's all personal opinions. I do question lists that have such broad ranges. Can you really compare 1 season of Flash or Daredevil to 10 seasons of Smallville? Is it fair to compare Wonder Woman or 60s Batman to iZombie or The Walking Dead?

For me The Flash started off pretty well and seemed to find itself a lot faster* than Arrow did. However, I thought the back half of The Flash's season was super messy and most of the characters seemed a little worse off to me; everyone being completely at ease with the idea of Barry risking seven billions lives to go back in time and save his mother, Wells becoming more and more of a cartoon, Iris only being watchable because of Candice Patton's performance, etc.

Arrow started off weakly for me but ended on a really good note. By the end of that season I was pretty much interested in every character on the show, and problematic characters that I only liked under certain circumstances, like Tommy, were put into more interesting situations.

Agents of Shield is probably my favourite comic book show, though, and I think Smallville at its best is better than both Arrow and The Flash, but it's also hit lower lows, so...bit hard to compare, really.

*No pun intended.

(Bold is mine) Totally agree with this. When critics talk about the superb second season, I go "Really?" Because there were some doozies in the back half of the second season, just incredibly boring episodes. I'm one of the few apparently who absolutely find "The Promise" awful and unnecessary, except for the camera things that set up the finale.

This competition is going to get crazy fast! This includes shipper moments of all TV seasons/couples through time. That's a very big list, with some very enthusiastic fandoms.

But the term "relationshipper" didn't really take off until X-Files, I think. I remember "relationshippers" was the term used to distinguish the fans that wanted Mulder and Scully to get together as opposed to the "NoRomos" (no romance) who wanted things to stay platonic

Hmm. This is an interesting thought. Some, off the top of my head:

1. Luke and Laura's wedding, General Hospital (and before anyone says I'm showing my age there, well, yes, I am, but I didn't see it - I've just seen in pop up in various lists of major TV/pop culture moments.)

2. "See? He's her lobster!" Friends, "The One with the Prom Video." I hated that couple by the end, but they do count as major/iconic.

3. "Because I'm in love with Monica!" - Friends again, "The One Where Everybody Finds Out."

4. If you shipped Buffy/Spike, and many many people didn't, I know, possibly the kiss at the end of the musical episode.

5. The dance at the end of "Post Modern Prometheus," X-Files, although wow, that one's arguable and probably others are going to remind me of better ones.

6. The episode where Hawkeye and Margaret finally hooked up on M.A.S.H.

7. Beckett coming over to Castle's apartment with "I just want you," Castle

8. The way Barry held on to the cosmic treadmill - and then put those very same hands on Oliver's salmon ladder, building a connection between the cosmic treadmill and the salmon ladder that will NEVER EVER be broken!

....that last one may be just me.

"NoRomos" sounds like a few football fans I know.

I feel very torn about this new Eonline poll/vote. How can you compare ships from the past with current ships? Some moments stand the test of time and others only feel amazing in the moment. Years from now will I be remembering O/F first time as much as I remember Sydney & Vaughn's first kiss? That windows finale scene in Friends with Rachel & Ross is still stuck in my brain. How about when Chuck & Sara wake up together in that run-down hotel... As much as I love O/F as a couple or ship, how will their moments stand up to time? Is their NP first time together their most iconic shipper moment? I feel like they will have more. Or for me personally it was when he almost kissed her in his back-up lair before surrendering himself to Slade.

I wish Eonline would separate past from current ships. The past stories have completed their body of work, so you can really compare them. Whereas the current stories still have so much to tell. I don't know. It's mixed feelings for me on another EOnline poll.

I'm now thinking about my own favorite 'shippy moments, and realizing once again that I like pre-'ship imagery A WHOLE LOT MORE than actual 'shippy moments.

Mulder and Scully holding hands after the Russian roulette in Pusher. "You bought me a wall?" on Dawson's Creek. Spike sitting down besides Buffy in Fool for Love. Chloe and Oliver's conversations in both Hex and Roulette.

I think the exception is Veronica Mars, because the Camelot kiss, yes, please.

This may be the wrong thread but if I had to list from my all time favorite couples

1. Eric and Tami standing together on the East Dillon football field at the end of the season 3 finale. Just them against the world so to speak

2. When Sam and Diane had their first real kiss at the end of the s1 finale (plus when the entire bar is at the door)

3. Mulder and Scully kissing in Millenium

4. Buffy and Angel at the prom.

5. Cordelia bringing coffee and donuts for Xander and waiting for him

6. Lilith and Frasier on that public access show

7. Starbuck and Apollo punching each other (true equals)

8. Clark and Chloe dancing in the s1 finale

9. Stefan and Elena on the ferris wheel in s2 ep 1 or 2.

I don't want to pick for current couples and or shows

I was going more for iconic than favorite in my incomplete list, but yeah, I should have included Sam and Diane, 1st season finale.

First kiss in Millenium.

Technically, their first kiss was one season earlier, in "Triangle". But that was with dream!Scully.

Even as a rabid Mulder/Scully shipper back then, their kiss in Millenium was kind of meh for me compared to their previous relationshippy moments. Just like I feel the Oliver/Felicity "There was no choice to make" scene was more iconic of their relationship than their first kiss in the hospital.

Seconded!

6. Lilith and Frasier on that public access show

Ha!  I guess it counts as a shipping moment but I'd nominate it as one of the funniest moments on TV ever.

Instead of Clark and Chole prom, I would have done the Chlark moment in the S5 finale. The turn to catch the car and the kiss. Plus the look exhanged in 6x01 when they were reunited. The "Consider me your own personal bomb squad." moment. I shipped Chollie later on, but Chlark has some amazing moments over the course of the series.

You bought me a wall still gets me. Or when he just has to stop the truck so he can have the conversation in the road?

Speaking of Pacey, how about the boats names of both Pacey & Jack from Revenge... not moments but still.

And the Office, Casino night kiss between Jim & Pam. Or their Christmas presents to each other before they were a couple.

Pre-shipping moments are so good. I also like getting back together shipping moments.

In Felicity, when she turns around and sees Ben at medical school. I thought it was time to follow you.

And in ER, that priceless moment that Carol shows up in Seattle to reunite with Doug. That moment was so good it spent weeks in a freezer just so it was not ruined.

I felt the s1 dance/almost kiss was a bit more romantic than the actual kiss. I could see Clark actually realize his feelings for Chloe weren't 100% platonic

I figured he figured that out when she went missing in Obscura and after he asked her to the Spring Formal and she said yes, he did a little happy dance with his pitchfork.  :D  That show was way too good at ship teasing.  Even in the last season they were still doing it to me.

I had to laugh that Gotham/Ben McKenzie are in the Drama TV category, but Arrow/SA and The Flash are in the sci-fi/fantasy categories when they are ALL sci-fi/fantasy genre.

Not sure if this is where it would go but this is a GREAT article about Arrow.

The 12 Creepiest Villains on TV Right Now

Damien Darhk from Arrow

With a name like Darhk, you have to be evil. Damien certainly is that; he has some sense of moral code but it’s perverted. The thing that makes Damien truly terrifying though is his power level. Arrow has never had a villain that has been able to neutralize Oliver as quickly and effortlessly as Damien did in the episode “Green Arrow." Damien is basically a god among men in Arrow Season 4. A god who is set to cause as much murder and controlled mayhem as possible.

Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly TV Superlative Awards (October 18th-24th)

MOST BADASS CHARACTER: ARROW
FELICITY SMOAK

From “Most Lovable Character” one week to “Most Badass” the next? Felicity has certainly got quite a lot of tricks up her sleeve. CW’s favorite IT girl may be known mostly for her incredible brains and her charming personality, but she has shown time and again that she can hold her own in the face of physical dangers as well. Felicity has had several moments of badass-ness in the past, whether it be pistol-whipping her crazy ex-boyfriend, volunteering to be bait for the creepy Dollmaker, going undercover in a dangerous underground casino, or stabbing Slade Wilson in the neck with the Mirakuru cure, but her scenes with Double Down in this week’s episode were definitely towards the top of that list. Felicity was exceptionally badass as her quick thinking against the nefarious card-throwing meta-human saved not only her life but also her new work friend, Curtis’s. I mean, you gotta love Felicity kicking the guy off the elevator, getting them to the safety of the lair, and of course, open firing a machine-gun on him.
*  *  *
BEST BUDDY MOMENT: ARROW
OLIVER TAKES A BULLET (OR REALLY A PLAYING CARD) FOR DIGGLE

Arrow is not quite the same when its biggest bromance are at odds with each other. Fights between Oliver and Diggle tend to always bring down the mood of the show because of how integral their friendship is to the show, dating back all the way to the pilot. After Oliver kidnapped Lyla last season to exchange her for Nyssa, their friendship has not been the same. And honestly, who can blame Diggle. It was kind of a jerk move by Oliver. Diggle has spent the beginning of this season giving Oliver an extremely frozen shoulder, so it came as a welcome surprise when the two rekindled their friendship while in pursuit of Double Down. Much of which occurred after Oliver took a potentially fatal playing card hit by jumping in front of John.

BEST ACTION SCENE: ARROW
NYSSA AND MALCOLM FIGHT

Arrow’s beautifully choreographed fight sequences never fail to blow my mind, and this week was no different. When Laurel and Thea travelled to Nanda Parbat, we were treated to a brilliantly done sparring match between Malcolm and Nyssa. I suppose Arrow has quite a good hold over this category with its realistic and gritty action sequences.
