Bitsy won't let this prayer thing go. She's on her instagram posting Bible verses - nothing wrong with that, if that's your thing - but then adds sanctimoniously, "I PRAY - even for those who don't want us to."  Oh please.  Nobody doesn't want anyone not to pray (maybe Richard Dawkins but that's another story). A lot of people just think that prayer alone isn't going to help anything.

These sanctimonious  holy rollers like Bitsy (but not all people of faith) get all self-righteous about prayer.  When Christopher Hitchens, a vocal atheist, was dying, people used to send him letters that they were praying for him (some of them meant it, but I bet some were trying to troll him).  A journalist asked what he thought of that. He said that if they were doing it because they were wishing him well, how could he get mad at that? But if they were praying to try to get him to change his mind, he added, they were out of luck. Bitsy may think she's getting in all these mean old atheists' grill, but I'm sure she'd be pissed how little they care about her little show.

From the Ask Ro section of Rosie O'Donnell's blog:

Sue writes:

DO you think it's possible that Elizabeth Hasselebeck quit Fox because she couldn't bring herself to support Trump when he started saying we should kill the families of our enemies, whole families. I don't like Elizabeth, but I doubt she would call for the killing of entire families. Maybe she finally realized she was selling her soul to FOX.

no

Heh.   I do love Rosie O'Donnell.

I'm actually glad to hear Hasslebeck point out that simply relying on prayer should be the way to go.  Now maybe she and the rest of the dumbasses at Fox can stop bleating about the so-called War on Christmas and instead go find some quiet out the way place and simply pray those Starbucks red cups away.

I would love to put her on a lie detector test and ask her when was the last time she truly prayed.  Outside of being able to keep her job.  And by prayer I don't mean asking her god to punish other people she simply does not like.  'Cause I'm guessing Hasslebeck is a queen of ill wishing i.e. cursing.  No.  I'm talking about actual prayer.

And while on the lie detector test, I would love to ask her if she considers her new unemployment to be a prayer answered and not just having her part pity hire part Ailes hiring yet another media misfit who got the toss (Dick Morris, Juan Carlos etc) as a thumbing of the nose attempt to show how fair and balanced Fox News is; reach it's sell by date.  I don't for one minute believe anything but Hasslebeck was leaving the end of this year as long ago as when Ailes offered her the job in the first place.  Carlson was promised her own show more than year before we even heard a rumor this was all happening in regards to Hasslebeck, or even Walters' 'retirement'.  The timing of ABC forcing Walters out and the planned firing of Hasslebeck was just right for Ailes to do what he loves to do.  Hire the so called pariah of the Liberal elite.  She might have had a slim chance to stay based on raising ratings and bringing in a new demographic.

My best case scenario is that Ailes was going to give her another chance with another year and the Murdoch sons saw her as a battle they could win over Ailes and said "nope; not happening'.  Just because.  And that is why she has looked so gutted no matter how she tries to spin this as her choice.

Plus she has always followed the notion that you can quantify faith, patriotism.  That it can be measured, weighed and found wanting.  Well, by "it" I mean everyone but herself and the people she deems "just like her".  Everyone else is either less because their faith etc is found wanting or even if it is "enough", like her stance on gay marriage when on the View, it still is not as good as hers because yours had to be weighed and measured in the first place.

You know, it is too late in the game now, but too bad when the rare liberal was allowed to open his or her mouth when facing Hasslebeck on Fox and Friends, one of them didn't simply turn to her and say "you are for gay marriage equality aren't you?  I heard you bragging about it on the The View over and over again and how you were more in favor than Obama was".  Completely apropos.  Doesn't matter if they were talking ISIS or gun control or whatever.   Sigh.  I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see her get her ass chapped on her ideology for hire attitude.  Especially sitting on the couch at the best job ever working for the best man ever.

Chris Murphy and the Daily News don't want people not to pray. They are just saying prayer without action will not solve the problem. Bitsy is misstating the nature of the issue. In her "defense" she probably doesn't understand it. Her whole world view is "us" v "them."

Bitsy doesn't do nuance, nor is she smart enough to understand what she's talking about, ever.

  • Love 9

Eh, even Chuckie Todd and Andrea Mitchell were cluck-clucking about "prayer shaming" on MSNBC.  I can't blame leBits for trying to run with New York Daily News/Sen Chris Murphy (D) CT criticizing prayer in the gun rampage/terrorism realm.

I've never been a fan of either one but  Todd has been on my FF list ever since he started showcasing Trump on MTP seemingly  every single week so I'm not surprised to hear this at all.   In my opinion, he's part of the problem with mainstream media. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he got the idea (prayer-shaming) from Twitter for crying out loud.

Colin Quinn. He was an MTV game show host and the weekend anchor on Saturday Night Live in the '90s.  He's someone who tends to be an acquired taste, too hip and esoteric to be mainstream. People pride themselves on being his fans, if that makes sense.

I liked Colin okay on SNL. There does seem to be something "superior" or snobbish about him. Not sure how to say it. The comedian Brett Butler (Grace Under Fire) did endear him to me somewhat when she wrote that Colin helped save her life - and career - from the throes of drug addiction.

I never got a chance to see Joy's show. Seems like it would be fun. I know she can be short and direct at times, and I agree with everyone who says she is what makes Susie Essman tolerable.

Dammit, I just read what RO wrote at her site about Joy being a cog behind the split screen with Bits. After witnessing that on the day it happened, I just can't see it at all. Who knows. Wonder if RO is miffed that Joy is back on the show.

I'm in total agreement with TheGreenKnight's last post upthread regarding that Rosie wears her heart on her sleeve and that's quite off-putting for some. I admit it made me nervous watching and waiting for her tipping point on The Spew last season.

The split screen show was the last one I watched.

I remember Joy coming to the table with papers that she slammed on the table which were a list of reasons why Bush should be tried for war crimes.

After she read out the list, Bits went nuts.  This came day(s) after she slammed Rosie's comments about the troops. Gas meet lighter. As much as I like Joy and as much as I can't belive it, I totally believe she helped set up the fight, but I also believe she tried to stop it. But I still to this day believe she helped pushed both bulls out of the barn.

She and her two side boobs were also paddling madly to blame Trump's latest un-American vileness on...wait for it...President Obama. I know, it must be a day with a Y in it. Sigh. Well, at least she's consistent.

Yikes, MatchaLove.  Yeah, that's what I want little kids doing if a gunman invades their school <sarcasm>.  Puh-leese...Bitsy would be the first one hiding behind the flag.

Can you imagine the production meeting and the moron who thought that would be a solid segment….small children are going to take on a raging lunatic with an automatic weapon and successfully disarm them?   Are elementary school-aged children watching F&F as they get ready for school?  News you can use!

I think Joy is smart, likes the paycheck and is a bit lazy.  When the Rosie thing went down, I think Joy wasn't a planned part.  But I think before it was over she saw how it was going down and went into a defensive mode.  And basically hid.  I saw that in her years post Rosie as Hasslebeck over and over again said outright lies and Joy would refuse to engage.  I think there were actually times that Hasslebeck saw Joy as the next to take down.  In fact I recall when Hasslebeck thought to piss to mark her territory when Whoopi came on and Whoopi pushed back and all of sudden we had weepy Hasslebeck.  Wasn't then that she brought out the Black Barbie story and her pretend friends now included a few Blacks to join her gay and veteran friends?  We also saw another Walters consoling poor Hasslebeck and telling the audience how much they love each other.

Whoopi later joined Joy being overall rather apathetic to Hasslebeck's strident silliness because they no doubt knew that Walters and Geddie were not going to do much against Hassleeck even though there were moments that she was clearly chastised or told to rein it in.

So Joy being part of the Rosie take down?  No.  Standing back to keep any blood from splattering her following that carnage?  Completely.  And she would squirm and twist her lips in the years that followed but would often not engage Hasslebeck as often as I felt she could.  Let alone should.

I suspect that Hasslebeck either will spew as much bile as she can simply because soon she won't have anyone to listen to her or (or and) because she wants to make sure when she is waved goodbye to from the lobby doors it is at least a fantasy of hers that they might call her back someday.

That's how I saw/see Joy too and I don't mean it in a good way.   I saw her do it again (on a much smaller scale of course) just last week when Whoopi was clapping her hands in Paula's face and berating her telling her husband she wanted laser hair removal for Christmas.

Over the years Joy became adept at remaining silent during confrontations or even flat out lies.  It's how she kept her seat for 17 years and probably how she got it back.   In the corporate world I've seen that behavior carry someone very very high - higher than skill or intelligence.    And I didn't  respect it there either.

Has anyone watched the show to see their reaction to Trump's banning Muslims comments? I am sure they are giddy.

It's Obama's fault that it's gotten to this point. No, I'm not kidding.

HASSELBECK: Why don’t we just fix the actual system in place and why don’t we have a leader in place that would actually make us feel safe about terrorists so we didn’t have to go to the extremes and saying, “You, you believe this? Well, you’re not coming into our country.” I think a lot of people believe this country is about more than that and the terrorists want us to be not the way that we have been.

KILMEADE: Elisabeth, that’s a great point. Because I think people saw the speech Sunday and they said wait a second, who’s got our back? He spent most of the speech saying what we’re not going to do to fight them and what we shouldn’t do when they’re here. And we say, wait a second, they just killed 14 people, these two just killed 14 people, wounded 21, we didn’t even have them on the radar, it doesn’t seem. So we’re wondering, who is worrying about us? And when Donald Trump comes out with something that seems extreme, then people say, “Okay, at least I can say he’s looking out for you.”

Can you imagine what it must be like, to hate someone so much because he's not on your "team", that your brain defies all logic and reason to villianize him?

WTF does this mean? It doesn't even make sense! Why would a leader want us to feel safe about terrorists?

ETA: Ok I just reread it a few times and think I understand what she means. I think she meant feel safe that terrorists wouldn't harm us. But of course in true Bitsy fashion she can't even say it correctly.

Hasselblech only speaks the language "Word Salad" -- that's why some of us have to translate into English after reading it several times to make sure we didn't "miss something" in the "Salad".  Her sentences & paragraphs are pitiful -- maybe she writes better than she talks, but I doubt it!!!

Well, funny that you should ask. Here is an example of her writing. Not sure why such a religious piece is on the Fox News website, but I guess it's part of the GOP establishment's plan to give lip service to conservative Christians.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2015/12/11/elisabeth-hasselbeck-how-our-familys-christmas-went-from-getting-to-giving.html

It's not so much an article but a series of declarative sentences.

This may be a glimpse to her next career direction. From my "The Soup" watching experience there are a bunch of religious cable channels out there. I could see her leaving Chief Breakfast Officer duty if the right one came by with a gig.

Good grief.

She practically makes the Duggars look articulate.

I am hoping to not see any more about Bitsy's PROFESSIONAL life once she exits Fox.

Mom of three saves the Christmas spirit? More like mom of three makes her kids write to soldiers and give cookies to fire fighters so that mom can brag online about her perfect little family.

It sounds like she is writing a script about a perfect little family and how they saved Christmas. Coming soon to the hallmark channel..

What next for Bitsy? Any predictions?

The head-scratcher for me is the thank-you notes to people with Christmas lights. Huh?

Maybe this time next year she'll be selling these on the 700 Club or something.

Wait, what? Did she really do that? How incredibly condescending and obnoxious. I'm an atheist who celebrates a completely secular Christmas, and I have lights up. I'd be so pissed if she deigned to anoint my lights with her smug, divisive, unnecessary approval, and dared to assume that my pretty lights are there to spread her warped word of god.

  • Love 8

Wait, what? Did she really do that?

Well, I don't know if she did it - she is a bit of a fabulist, remember Grace telling her to apologize to Erin Andrews? or Grace being a Beverly Sills fan? Or Grace wanting a photo of the Obama girls put in a frame? Or Grace...never mind - but in her "article" she lists her family's act of gratitude:

Our dinner talks were sweetened with the recap and play by play of knocking on the door of the firehouse, or writing a soldier a note of gratitude for his or her service, or driving by someone's home decorated in the Christmas spirit and leaving them a treat and a thank you note in their mailbox.

So congratulations Cantor, in Bitsy's eyes you are a brave soldier in the War on Christmas. Your gluten-free treats shall be arriving shortly.

  • Love 10

Well that's just it, maggiemae - everything Bitsy does is for window dressing only.  Her flag waving, letter writing and cookie deliveries accomplish a big NOTHING except to call attention to herself as the all-wonderful, caring Elisabeth Hasselbeck.  So recipients can now say "Oooooooooooooh, that Elisabeth is such a warm, wonderful person...look how she appreciates our Christmas lights!"   For all her horn tooting about their good works, when has anyone ever seen her do something that actually makes a difference in someone's life?  It's way past time for Bitsy to put her MOOOONNNNEEEEYYYYYY into play, and I'm not talkin' about sticking a fiver into the Salvation Army bucket.

Consider the difference between an anonymous good deed or expression of appreciation, and what bitsy is doing. She's showing off. She's not enough of a big name celebrity that she can arrange a photo op of her and her kids doing something, so she writes about a good deed advent calendar, hoping to get some publicity that way.

If someone I work with, or someone I know, gives me homemade cookies, I appreciate them. But if cookies are in my mailbox, or given to me by someone I don't know, I might be skeptical.

Though, I did wonder if the "treats" she's dropping off are these http://www.nogii.com/about/

Just shoot me now. Those bars actually look pretty good.

The "cookie" one has 29 grams of protein! That's 9 more grams than her high-protein bar. Isn't that alot?

But, no, I do not want one in my mailbox.

Wonder what NoGii stands for. No GastroIntestinal something? All I got.

Edited by NewDigs

Nogii = No G = No Gluten

It references her books about "G-Free" diet.

Because, you know, gluten is bad.

Yeah, I kind of figured that but the spelling threw me. I guess she thought that if that's how the wii is spelled...?

I maybe might have gone with NoGee. Or something.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall of that little think tank.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but would you actually eat some food item, especially something that appears to be homemade, randomly left in your mailbox by an unknown unseen stranger? You want to leave a note saying "thank you, we really love your festive holiday decorations," great. Anything beyond that starts to get creepy.

I agree that Bitsy's stories invariably sound fake. It's kind of uncanny actually that NOTHING she says has an air of sincerity. It always feels made up and/or calculated to say "Look at me! Aren't I thoughtful/adorable/patriotic/pious/domestic/etc." Blech.

Good point.  I'm sure that they're only cruising their very nice Greenwich neighborhood, and I would bet they're signing their notes. Which goes to the point of (a) why not help people in need? and (b) how good is a "good deed" when you let people know you're doing it?

And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, it makes me wonder if it's real.

After wading through that "opinion" piece  I am fairly certain she actually wrote it herself, lol.  She even used her favorite way to speak - in soundbites, preferably rhyming:  "God nudged… And we budged."

Also I am just as certain those conversations only happened in Bitsy's imagination.  I don't think any of it  happened last year (and if so why are we just hearing about it now?) but maybe she's trying it this year in which case why not just say so?    Advent Calendar of Good Deeds isn't an original idea and I think it's shitty not to credit the mommyblog or wherever she first heard about it.  Maybe last month on The Today show  where the writer makes the project sound much more realistic and leaves out the preachy part.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

And maybe a little Mel Torme after school to unwind….

Bwhahahahahaa!

Oh, brother! I’m having some “stomach ailments” just reading, “About Elizabeth” on that http://www.nogii.com/about/link.

I do have a prediction for her next gig, tho…

She will either pair up with her great ‘friend’, Sherri, for some Christian cooking show (The Christian Cooking View) or, she’ll get a gluten-free cooking show on FN or the CC. There’s a market for both, for sure.

Greenwich is an interesting place - I was going to say it's a combo of old money and new money, but I think ‘elitists’ is a better descriptor. I doubt that they are thrilled to share fences, or cookies, with Bitsy.
