Miss Chevious April 23, 2016 Share April 23, 2016 Q is for quotas. As a result of the women's liberation moment, a lot of corporations had to hire more women/minorities to fill them. Link to comment
AndySmith April 23, 2016 Share April 23, 2016 R is for Reproductive Rights. Dorothy would have fought hard on this issue. 1 Link to comment
AndySmith May 25, 2016 Share May 25, 2016 Wow...this thread died down quite a bit...wonder if it was due to this particular subject or something else. Link to comment
Miss Chevious May 26, 2016 Share May 26, 2016 This subject was a bit shall we say...challenging? I can usually come up with a lot of stuff but ideas did not flow so readily this time. Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 May 27, 2016 Author Share May 27, 2016 I'd say if you want to jump to another round, you can. Or someone can burn off the rest of the alphabet with some non-sense ones. This is just a fun thing, it's doesn't need to be strict about the theme or rules. :) Link to comment
Bastet May 27, 2016 Share May 27, 2016 I'm a feminist, a civil rights attorney with a focus on women's rights, and one whose undergrad degree consisted of a minor in gender studies, so this category is right up my alley. I've just been pretty sporadic in checking the GG forum since I haven't been watching the show lately. S is for Shula Firestone, whom none of the Girls would likely have been aware of at the time, although Dorothy - being in NY - might have heard mentions of Redstockings. Link to comment
Miss Chevious May 31, 2016 Share May 31, 2016 (edited) T is for Take Your Daughters to Work Day (later called Take Your Children to Work Day) which was a groundbreaking event for its day. The Girls all had daughters that would have learned about art, teaching and milking cows. Edited May 31, 2016 by Miss Chevious Spelling correction Link to comment
Maherjunkie June 8, 2016 Share June 8, 2016 U is for unity among women (they promised to take care of each other), v is for feminist play The Vagina Monologues (but Blanche is not likely to have slept with the producer), W is for Wicca (they could cast spells) X is for newfound sexual liberation such as losing your virginity in 7 different places. 1 Link to comment
Miss Chevious June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 Y is for why why why did it take forever to do this category and Z is for the snoozefest it became. (Sorry don't mean to offend anyone). For a new topic - since it's summertime, the Girls are going on vacation. Let's name some places/tourist sites they would NOT want to go to. Link to comment
legaleagle53 June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 It's a pity that Secretary Clinton's historic nomination to the Presidency couldn't have somehow been included in this particular game. You just know that Dorothy would be cheering, if not doing actual cartwheels over it! 2 Link to comment
camom June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 A is for Antarctica. I think that would be too much of an adventure even for Dorothy. Link to comment
AndySmith June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 B is for Brazil. Despite the appeal of the country and the Olympics, all the political and economic instability, plus the Zika Virus scare, would keep the Girls away (for now). Link to comment
BookThief June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 C is for Chattanooga where the girls probably won't be visiting soon due to all of Blanche's former arrests. Sure, she sheriff still writes but there are surely female members of the police force now who would not be lenient on Blanche. D is for Denmark where something rotten is--their cheese! Rose would never agree to go. 1 Link to comment
Miss Chevious June 10, 2016 Share June 10, 2016 E is for England. Rose might have trouble with the language. 2 Link to comment
Maherjunkie June 11, 2016 Share June 11, 2016 F is for Ft. Lauderdale where Sophia can hear a canary break wind. Link to comment
Miss Chevious June 15, 2016 Share June 15, 2016 G is for Greece. Dorothy doesn't want to run into a bunch of Greek sailors who'd want to know how many drachma are in eight dollars. Link to comment
AndySmith June 17, 2016 Share June 17, 2016 H is for Houston. Despite all the city has to offer, the Girls wouldn't want to visit in the sweltering summer (they have enough of that in Miami). Link to comment
LilWharveyGal June 30, 2016 Share June 30, 2016 I is for Iceland. The long Icelandic names would remind the girls too much of Rose's ridiculous Scandinavian words. Link to comment
Maherjunkie July 1, 2016 Share July 1, 2016 J is for Jonestown. Rose would be too likely to drink the Koolaid. Link to comment
Miss Chevious July 20, 2016 Share July 20, 2016 K is for Kissimmee, FL. Rose would be afraid she'd contract mono again. Link to comment
babyhouseman July 21, 2016 Share July 21, 2016 (edited) L is for Los Angeles where "Grab That Dough" was. After that disaster, they wouldn't want to go back even if Guy Corbin makes Rose's ovaltine boil. Edited July 21, 2016 by babyhouseman Link to comment
Maherjunkie July 26, 2016 Share July 26, 2016 M is for Minnesota, only because their children would never go there college wise and there are only farmers to date Link to comment
AndySmith July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 N is for Nigeria, because the Girls want to have fun, not worry about being kidnapped and held for ransom. Link to comment

Of course SHE'D want to visit there! Link to comment
Maherjunkie July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 Oh right! I was thinking of the other 2. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal August 1, 2016 Share August 1, 2016 O is for Omaha. It's so close to Miami anyway, what would be the point? :) Link to comment
Maherjunkie August 2, 2016 Share August 2, 2016 Perry Street in Greenwich Village. There would be nothing for Blanche, Dorothy wouldn't want to be hit on by women, and Rose would wonder why some people wore leather in all those bars. Link to comment
AndySmith August 2, 2016 Share August 2, 2016 Q is for Qatar, which the girls wouldn't visit, since it's just a less interesting, more boring version of Dubai, where the girls would end up visiting instead. Link to comment
Eri August 14, 2016 Share August 14, 2016 R is for Russia because they'd be too grouchy from the toilet paper (only in Rose's mind would the Russian audience be the best audience in the world). Link to comment
Miss Chevious August 14, 2016 Share August 14, 2016 S is for Sarasota. Both Rose and Blanche had bad experiences with clowns from there. T is for Tunnels. Sophia almost disappeared in one. Link to comment
AndySmith September 2, 2016 Share September 2, 2016 U is for Uranium City, Canada, which based on the name, none of the girls would be interested in visiting at all. Link to comment
Mom x 3 September 3, 2016 Share September 3, 2016 X is for Xamien, China where they wouldn't be able to afford to go since it would cost more than a new roof. Link to comment
AndySmith September 3, 2016 Share September 3, 2016 You missed a couple of letters there, HospiceDoc ;) Link to comment
Mom x 3 September 3, 2016 Share September 3, 2016 Oh geez, I've been scrolling through the old ones for days. Forgive me. V is for Veracruz, Mexico, because "It's beauty is found in it's grit rather than it's grandiosity." W is for West Texas, where I am, because there is nothing here but red dirt. 1 Link to comment
LilWharveyGal October 11, 2016 Share October 11, 2016 Y is for a trip to Yankee Stadium. Sophia would still be loyal to Sal's Dodgers, Dorothy would be leery of having to sit next to a fat, shirtless man, Rose would still be confused about the Big Potato, and Blanche would have an aversion to anything with "yankee" in the title. 1 Link to comment
Mom x 3 October 12, 2016 Share October 12, 2016 Z is for Zahedan, Iran. No way Dorothy would let Sophia go there. With her mouth, she'd be arrested before they left the airport. Blanche probably couldn't deal with the dress code. Hmmm...how about for the next one: Items the girls would love or hate that exist now but didn't exist (in the same form) in the 80's. A....airport security as it currently is. Again, Sophia would go to jail. Link to comment
BookThief October 12, 2016 Share October 12, 2016 B is for Binge watching. I think the ladies would dig watching episodes of things like I Love Lucy back-to-back but with the added convenience of being able to pick up where you left off instead of missing the whole marathon when your friend's daughter shows up at the house in marital distress. 1 Link to comment
AndySmith October 12, 2016 Share October 12, 2016 (edited) C is for cell phones. The girls would be frustrated with them at first, until they figured out how to use them correctly. Rose would probably be the most frustrated, while Sophia would probably chuck hers out the window even if she did figure it out. Edited October 12, 2016 by AndySmith Link to comment
Miss Chevious October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 D is for Dating Apps. Blanche would be all over it, she'd be on every dating website from eHarmony to MeetMe, Tinder and beyond. And be in her element doing it. Rose would be reluctant at first, but then her competitive nature would kick in. She'd also remember the disastrous results she had with the personal columns in the newspaper. Dorothy, too, would be lukewarm at first but then she'd say what the hell and go for it. Anything's got to be better than figuring out how many drachmas are in eight dollars, right? Sophia would be the lone holdout. She'd say she wouldn't want to put matchmakers like Mrs. Contini out of business, plus she can meet all the geezers she wants at the senior center. Link to comment
Maherjunkie October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 E is for elections. They've gotten dirtier since the days of Gil Kessler. Link to comment
babyhouseman October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 F is for Facebook. Blanche would publish pictures of herself to entice her men. Dorothy would follow news and social causes. Rose would like cute videos. Sophia could look at recipes and argue with people that she's the best cook. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 G is for Google. Rose could finally look up Spanish fly, metaphors, lesbians, how a Thermos keeps things both hot and cold, and all the other stuff she doesn't understand. Link to comment
AndySmith October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 (edited) H is for Hybrid cars. Dorothy and Rose, being the more social conscious of the 4 girls, would probably be the ones most adamant about getting one. Edited October 14, 2016 by AndySmith Link to comment
LilWharveyGal October 21, 2016 Share October 21, 2016 I is for Instagram. I don't know if Dorothy would get into it, but I can imagine Sophia posting pictures of the dishes she cooks or unflattering shots of Dorothy, and Rose posting flowers or puppies. Blanche's pictures would be inappropriate. 1 Link to comment

Bastet October 21, 2016 Share October 21, 2016 Quote Blanche's pictures would get her banned from half the Internet. But make her very popular on the other half. 2 Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 October 21, 2016 Author Share October 21, 2016 J is for Justin Bieber. Would Blanche be a "Belieber" after the naked boat pictures? He is almost half her age after all. In what, Blanche? Dog years?!!! 2 Link to comment
camom October 21, 2016 Share October 21, 2016 K is for the Kardashians. Sophia and Dorothy would both have no use for them, Rose wouldn't understand them (kind of like me!), and Blanche would try to become their best friends. Link to comment
AndySmith October 22, 2016 Share October 22, 2016 L is for Low Cost Carriers. Their reactions would be mixed; they'd love the cheaper prices, but find the service and soft product wanting as they all remember how better things were "back in the good old days" of flying. But. Cheaper prices on fixed incomes means more traveling. But...etc, etc. Link to comment
Miss Chevious October 28, 2016 Share October 28, 2016 M is for Measurement Devices, like Fitbit for example. The Girls wouldn't have any use for such gadgets. Except maybe Blanche, she might want to check her heart rate to make sure her ticker is still ticking. Link to comment
