Maherjunkie January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 C is for Caroline who butted into Rose and Miles relationship. And no cake for her! Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 January 22, 2015 Author Share January 22, 2015 D is for Sophia faking her Death so that she could see her friends reactions at the funeral. Granted, Rose was supposed to tell everyone it was fake. Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 What happened to Y in the previous thread? Did it get skipped? Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 I don't recall, let's just say Y was for a go to joke involving yaks. Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 (edited) E is for Eating. Rose eating Blanche's little pie and washing it down with the shake sabotaged Blanche's diet. There went her sensible meal! Edited January 22, 2015 by Miss Chevious Link to comment
Bastet January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 (edited) Yes, Y was skipped over. F is for all the fat jokes made about Rebecca and the reactions to them. Edited January 22, 2015 by Bastet Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 G is for Gloria sleeping with Stan, and Sophia thinking that it was a good idea. Why??? Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 H is for Holly meeting up with Dorothy and Blanche and trying to cut Rose out of the action. Link to comment
BookThief January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 I is for Isaac Q. Newton whom the ladies really should have told Rose didn't exist before she managed to find one in the phone book to go on a date with her. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 J is for the juice Dorothy selfishly took for herself when the girls were all sick with the flu. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 K is for the kiss Dorothy and Stan shared. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 L is for loaning Dorothy money to gamble. Link to comment
Bastet January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 M is for the marriage between Max and Sophia. At least the two of them wound up acknowledging it was stupid, and that they were too old to be that stupid, but that whole thing - the marriage, the business, staying in the house - was so dumb it wasn't particularly fun to watch. 1 Link to comment
Blakeston January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 N is for Nurse DeFarge - and Dorothy's failure to get rid of her. If you're convinced Sophia needs a live-in nurse, there have to be other options. Link to comment
BookThief January 24, 2015 Share January 24, 2015 O is for orgasm, of which Blanche had "many, many times" her first time. I think she could have been a little more understanding that it took Rose longer to get there after her first time. Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 25, 2015 Share January 25, 2015 (edited) P is for the Pervert Dentist, Dr. Norgren. He took advantage of Rose's good nature while she was in the dentist chair, but she threatened to report him to the State Dental Board. And she sprayed him with the water hose! or: P is for penny-pinching. Miles was a major penny-pincher and it drove Rose crazy! Day-old pastries, indeed. Sorry, I had two and couldn't decide. So I put them both out there. Edited January 25, 2015 by Miss Chevious Link to comment
camom January 25, 2015 Share January 25, 2015 Q is for Quitting. When Dorothy needed to quit gambling--again--she was terrible to everyone. Link to comment
Bastet January 25, 2015 Share January 25, 2015 R is for Dorothy and Blanche reading Rose's diary. Link to comment
Cobalt Stargazer January 25, 2015 Share January 25, 2015 S is for Sex, which Blanche had so much of that Sophia said she had to install a turnstile at her bedroom door. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 T is for Tony's girlfriend, who walks out nonchalantly, says "I thought I was the only woman in your life," without emotion, and then walks away. Sure, it's a small moment, but I always thought it was really bad acting. Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 U is for unattached heads of Blanche, Rose and Dorothy. Seeing them sitting in platters of ice on the kitchen table was weird. Link to comment
Blakeston January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 V is for the Vase shooting incident. Rose was such a damn idiot in that episode. 1 Link to comment
Bastet January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) The above is a great one; it fits both when a character didn't behave very well AND when an actor could have been better. I love Betty White, but thinks she's awful in the "In my mind, they're still here" breakdown. W is for the wandering eye (and other body parts) Stan refused to keep control of. Maherjunkie January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 X is for the saturation of sex stories. Link to comment
Blakeston January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Y is for the Yellow color that Rose insisted was her natural color. Really, Rose? Really? Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Z is for the Zipper King, Mel Bushman. I never bought his love story with Blanche. (But then again, apparently neither did they.) We've done the girls in other roles. How about we do guest stars in other roles? A is for Arrested Development, which featured Jeffrey Tambor, aka one of the doctors who blew off Dorothy's chronic fatigue symptoms. Link to comment
Blakeston January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 B is for Batman - that is, the Adam West/Burt Ward TV series from the '60s. Cesar Romero (aka Tony, the guy who "cared for" Sophia, but wouldn't say he loved her) was The Joker. And David Wayne (Big Daddy in the episode where he's marrying a younger woman) played a villain called The Mad Hatter. Link to comment
Bastet January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) C is for Cagney & Lacey, in which Herb Edelman ("Stan") had a recurring role as a bail bondsman. (Estelle Getty did an episode, too, and there are probably several other actors who appeared on both shows, but Edelman is who springs to mind.) Edited January 26, 2015 by Bastet Link to comment

Blakeston January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 H is for Hairspray (the original movie, from the '80s), starring Sonny Bono. Link to comment
BookThief January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 OK, he wasn't a "guest star" but... I is for Inglourious Basterds which was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino (he did technically have a small role in it too). Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 J is for Jaws. Larry Vaughn the mayor was played by Murray Hamilton who was Big Daddy. 1 Link to comment
Blakeston January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 Here's an obscure one - K is for Kennedy, a miniseries in which Geraldine Fitzgerald (who played Sophia's suicidal friend) played Rose Kennedy. And Martin Sheen played JFK. She was a very interesting woman - she was gorgeous when she was young, and she was nominated for an Oscar in the '30s, She was on the verge of becoming a huge star in the early '40s, but then her studio dumped her for being a huge diva. And she ended up dating Orson Welles, and having his son out of wedlock. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 I didn't know that! She was great in Arthur. Link to comment
camom January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 L is for L.A. Law. Harold Gould (Miles Webber) was a guest star. Link to comment

Bastet January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 It's not an acting role, but ... N is for Nip/Tuck, on which Lynnie Greene (who played young Dorothy so well in flashbacks) served as executive producer. Link to comment
BookThief January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 O is for Orbach, Jerry who of course was on original recipe Law & Order for many years. Link to comment
Miss Chevious January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 P is for Parley Baer(Chester T. Raney who brought Baby the Pig) a character actor who played many roles throughout his long career. He was in Bewitched, Petticoat Junction and played Mayor Stoner on the Andy Griffith show, just to name a few. Link to comment
What In The January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Q is for q tip so Sophia wouldnt have to jam a stick into her ear with no cotton at the end. Link to comment
Bastet January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 (edited) That doesn't fit the category, so we're still on Q. Q is for Quantum Leap, in which Richard Herd (Rose's impotent boyfriend Ernie) appeared. Edited January 29, 2015 by Bastet Link to comment
Cobalt Stargazer January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 R is for The Rockford Files, where Rita Moreno guest-starred for three episodes. Link to comment
Bastet January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 (edited) My offering for S is a bit of a dud since I just used the same actor for Q, but I'll make up for it with T. S is for Seinfeld, in which Richard Herd had a recurring role as Mr. Wilhelm. Edited to improve on that: And in which Sheree North (Blanche's sister, Virginia) played Kramer's mom. And in which Lois Nettleton (Jean, who had the hots for Rose and not Blanche) appeared as the mother of one of George's girlfriends. And ... probably more that still aren't coming to me. T is for The Twilight Zone, in which several GG guest stars made memorable appearances, including Murray Hamilton (Big Daddy), Anne Francis (Dorothy’s friend Trudy, who knows no boundaries in her practical joking), Lloyd Bochner (womanizing actor Patrick Vaughn), Jeanette Nolan (Rose’s mother), Nan Martin (Frieda Claxton) and the wonderful Lois Nettleton (Jean). Bastet January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 After this, I'm done procrastinating for the day, really. W is for Who’s the Boss, in which the delightful Robert Culp (who played Blanche’s date in the pacemaker episode) appeared as a charming con man. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Oh no, don't leave us Bastet! X is for The X Files, which featured Beth Grant (whose granddaddy sold horseshoes to a Yankee). Link to comment
