Here's a place to talk about the weekly "First Looks" episodes. I'll move posts from this thread into the correct episode thread once they've opened.

Tonight, Thursday 9/24 at 10:45 pm PACIFIC.

Also tonight, there's "RHoOC Winners" at 8:11 pm PACIFIC.

Thank you Walnut Queen I very much appreciate your response.  I find the earlier in the week the show the First Look generally the better the First Look.  It seems to me they want to spark pre-show discussion.

The First Looks is on at 10:45 PM here on the east coast too but I didn't see RHOC Winners listed.  My cable guide shows a rerun of Swimming with the Sharks on 8:11 PM - 8:41 PM which is impossible unless they're fast forwarding through it so it must be a mistake.

AnnA - my Uverse guide shows RHoOC Winners at 8:11, RHoNY Winners at 8:41, then some Don't Be Tardy episodes.  First looks start with Don't Be Tardy at 10:12, Million $ Listing LA at 10:34, and then RHoOC at 10:45.  It could be wrong, too ...  :-)

Thank you.  That sounds right to me.

My cable guide has the other First Looks right but they also have RHONY Birthday in the Bershires on from 8:41 - 9:11 PM which has to be another mistake.  I'm assuming the OC and NY are the "Winners" you mentioned.  I just don't know what that is, do you?

I guess I'll find out when I watch whatever the hell my DVR records tonight (I never watch live TV).   ;-)

There's way too much on tonight to watch.

I'm recording all the HW's crap as well as Project Runway, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder.

I have those shows and several others set to record.  Yes, I watch too much TV.  I can't tell you how many times I have to juggle my shows to later airings due to scheduling conflicts - especially on Sunday nights (and my DVR can record 3-4 shows at a time!!!).

I consider myself lucky with the DVR.  My cable company introduced a new service that saves my recordings in "the cloud."   I don't have an actual DVR in my house. It's all done by little gremlins living in the ether.   I can record up to 15 shows at once and watch them in any room.  If the fall season turns out to be a good one, I'm going to have trouble keeping up with all my recorded shows.  LOL

So I guess Brooks does have cancer, then. At least a large mass in his lower chest. I didn't hear the doctor say the word cancer but he said the papers weren't lying.

Is Brooks wearing dark rouge in his talking heads? Something is going on with his cheeks.

According to what Brooks said in his TH, the "large mass" is "inflammation", not a cancerous tumor, NHL is a blood cancer. The Dr. does not say that Brooks does have "cancer" and he doesn't say that he does not either, all he says is that Brooks is not lying and it was not in direct reply to Brooks/Vicki saying the others were calling him a liar. I think production intentionally kept it that way to keep viewers guessing.

Is this the "resveratrol" Dr. that Brooks spoke about, the one that Heather went to for cellulite treatments?

Well I'd say this proves he has it. The PET scan clearly says he has lymphoma. I work in a hospital and that report looks exactly like the ones I see all the time. PET scan reports are super detailed and long. There's no way he could fake that. And a doctors office or radiology department would have been the one to send it over. Megan is such an ass.

So Tamra's continuing her quest to get baptize.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, who cares.  Move on.

Vicki sends Shannon a kind of nasty text.  Yeah, like that's a surprise.

And then,  Brooks and Vicki visit Dr. German Zermeno.  I had to do a quick Google.  Nope, nothing about cancer treatment.  And the 'c' word wasn't mentioned during the appointment.  But Brooks is getting his blood oxygenized (that's probably not a word) and Vicks has to get back to the office.  Hm.  Wait Vicks, this man is 'your' man.  And you have to get back to the office.  I know, you 'work', but WTF.  So apparently this doctor is a family practitioner who is big on supplements according to my quick Google.  His Linkedin says he practices Family Medicine with emphasis on Functional Medicine.

And the doctor reads the PET scan and no mention of cancer.  He feels something but no mention of a tumor.  So what the heck is going on.  I don't know very much about NHL but this doctor appointment is just weird.  And who is this person with them?

Just wondering how it 'proves' he has cancer.  Doesn't it only prove he had a PET scan?

I paused my tv on the report. It states he has NHL and that the mass represents lymphoma.

I saw it too.  They obviously edited out any confirmation by the doctor to keep the drama going.  I hope Meghan (STFU forever), Tamra (Sicko for starting a rumor like that), and on a lesser scale, Heather and Shannon, feel like complete shit for all of the gross assumptions about him lying about it.

Everything is all about Vicki...

brooks%20infusion%20caption_zpsxtm6xzqw.

I don't think I've ever come across a more vile, self-centered woman than Vicki. Me, me, me; I need to get to work blah blah blah. How about putting your purse down, taking a seat next to "your man" and holding his hand. I have infusions weekly and most people that come with their loved ones are talking with them, holding their hands and just keeping them comfortable and relaxed while they're getting treatment, thankfully not having to listen to a narcissistic windbag talking about "hurrying up".  I'm sure having Vicki in the room harping away surely brought Brooks' stress level down.

That report is a CAT scan they are saying a PET scan.  I can't believe that someone who has had cancer as long as he has would get them mixed up.  I have read hundreds of reports and never seen one that is one run on sentence. They are dictated by doctor /radiologist  reading. Its unreadable. Stupid.

That being said that looks a really nice cabernet on the above  shot posted.  It has not shown here yet but for once I don't fault Vicki I wouldn't stand around watching red wine go in either.  No need to be laying down either. Most chemo is done sitting in a comfy lounge chair unless you are sooooooooooo sick and throwing up then your are often given a small room to lay in a bed.

Yes, it is a CT scan, NOT a PET scan (GOOD EYES) and it was poorly written! Also, there is no date shown on it either to show it was recently taken. LOL

Vicks sends Shannon a text after the lunch and she reads it to David when they're out for 'date' night.

Oh, edited to add, Shannon doesn't bring up the cheating so I think she had a good time except being concerned about low calorie appetizers.

Dammit, this show is going to make me defend Vicki and Brooks!   The test shown states that Brooks has NHL.  There is a date on the top corner that I saw on my screen of 04/06/2.  The rest of the numbers are cut off.  The report lists the contrast that was used.  The doctor referred to it as a PET scan.  A PET scan is usually a CT/PET although we typically only call it a PET scan.  It is a CT with contrast.  The doctor then talks about being able to feel the mass in Brooks’ abdomen that is consistent with the written report.  We have no reason to believe this is Brooks’ primary doctor.  He is not an oncologist. They seem to be meeting him for the first time.  That does not mean that Brooks has no other doctors; ths is the one willing to go on TV to sell himself.   Vicki says this doctor does Eastern and Western medicine although seemingly he does Western medicine with supplements and some unconventional treatments.  His focus is on improving the immune system.  He did not say nor did Vicki or Brooks say he was trying to cure Brooks’ cancer.  While there, Brooks is not receiving chemo.  They stated that this treatment consists of drawing Brooks’ blood, oxygenating it and transfusing it back into Brooks.  So this is a non-conventional and most likely useless) treatment.

These are all horrible people, but no matter what they’ve said, I still do not see a reason to believe he is faking cancer.  I just don’t accept Tamra and a psychic as evidence.

The one thing I think we can all agree on – no matter what the circumstance, Vicki’s thoughts are always on Vicki.  She has to get back to work.  She works.  She woooorks!

I, myself, do not know whether or not Brooks has cancer and to be honest, at this point, I don't really care. I think the confusion was created by Brooks on purpose, with help from Vicki, to create a sympathetic storyline for both of them this season but they were unprepared for how much/hard they would get questioned or how production would edit it. This week, the role of "Shut up, Meghan!" Will be played by Tamra. Nope, still not believing this b.s. about her becoming a Xian. I was half expecting her to ask Pasture Mike if what she did last week was OK b/c reading the Bible is hard! Will someone PLEASE teach her how to fake crying so she doesn't appear to be dry-heaving?

Shannon and David seemed to be having a fun date night, although she couldn't help but fret about the lack of healthful appetizers. What is it with these dames sending nasty text or email messages the day after they get into an argument?

Brooks' doctor is a total quack. Leave it to Vicki to abandon him at the "clinic" to go back to "work"! Not that I care at this poibt.

I have to agree with you.  That report conveniently had the year cut off, and we know he had cancer previously (2012 or 2013, I think?).  A professional medical report does NOT include sloppy run on sentences like that.  I believe him when he says he had NHL previously, but I really think they started with a small lie, and it worked into a giant clusterfuck.  They brought this on themselves.

Obviously Meghan continues to write off Brooks' test results and doctor's appointment as fake. She is currently saying he does not have cancer. Some viewers who have invested in this point of view will continue to believe Brooks Is faking cancer.

Shannon continues to pull away from Vicki saying what's going on in her life has kept her away from contacting Vicki.. Though something tells me Vicki may have written off her friendship with Shannon, since it is Shannon who definitively proclaimed her good friend Vicki was "too smart not to know Brooks was faking cancer."

Heather is playing it close to the vest, but does say Brooks gets her involved in some way. It appears Brooks was working on treatments that would make his body stronger and able to withstand more conventional treatments. With the mass found in Brooks it seems his oncologist would recommend further chemo treatments.

Tamra plays both sides and seems to get along with everyone.

Were the ladies purposely not told about the cancer mass because Brooks didn't want it known to Vicki, the cast and publicly. Did the result of trying to keep this information secret make him come across as hinkey (Heather's word).

Did Meghan's actions create a atmosphere of mass hysteria which encouraged the other housewives to believe Brooks was faking cancer? Did Shannon, a good friend to Vicki and Brooks, influence the other HWs to believe Vicki was in on a dastardly plot to fake Brooks' cancer? Was the audience given the same info ready to join Meghan and Shannon in blaming Vicki and Brooks of faking cancer? Yes, yes and yes based partly on the personalities and questionable past histories of both Brooks and Vicki. IMO it's inherently easy to believe the worst about someone whose past motivations and decisions you question. Both Vicki and Brooks were unlikable to a certain degree making it easier to question Brooks' cancer diagnosis.

If Brooks has cancer or not, that's a poor excuse for the lynch mob mentality of Vicki's co-workers.

Here's where I stopped.  To start with, none of this started with Meghan, we all know that, and frankly everyone who likes to use Google has pretty much done the same thing as Meghan. All across the internet, those of us with this weird affliction to watch this show are also reading all the sites that have boards or chats about RHOC are doing the same thing.  Everyone is analyzing that one single document and parsing each word that came out of that Dr's mouth.  Why? Because everyone has a doubt, not just Meghan.  (and now I'm sticking up for her).... oy.

I'm putting forth questions and saying some of the audience agree with Meghan and Shannon that both Brooks and Vicki lied about him having cancer. The viewers questioning every word is what forums are all about. The point I'm trying to make is that a reality TV show is a microcosm of co-workers in a pressure cooker to create drama. The show is edited to create drama right to the end. Does he or doesn't he? It's also a study of how people react under pressure.

Some feel Meghan's research went too far, she herself said she was embarrassed by her actions. Some feel she's a hero fighting for justice and flushing out con-artists.

Hehe! I got a little laugh out of watching Shannon hold that menu at full arm's length to read it. Put your glasses on Shannon! You own being 51, it's ok to be far-sighted.

That said, she is just so joyless about food. And she's not fat! Of course she worries about her weight in Orange County circles, but I think she looks fine and if she continues with all that exercise and eating healthy then she should look wonderful. I can't help thinking that David is a guy who likes certain foods and it's such a downer that she constantly brings up no fat, no fat, no FAT! She even emphasizes that she wants low- and no-fat foods by saying it in Spanish! She could let David order the empanadas and then have just one. Or, even better, she could skip the Grey Goose!

Exactly!  I think a lot of her misery comes from restricting herself to the point where life is becoming bland and joyless.  Her body is screaming for a treat now and then.  Remember how happy and fun she was when she ate those gummi bears in Tahiti?  She's working out like a crazy woman, so she can afford to have an empanada with her meatballs.  +! on the Grey Goose!

I did not find Brooks "evidence" very believable. He mentions to the doc that he forwarded his medical records. All he had was a print out of a reading of a CT scan. There were no patient ID numbers, and the report states that no previous scan for comparison was available. Brooks marched into that office with one printout. It is very important for the treating physician to have access to all the data- this would show if the disease is progressing. In my opinion (I am not an MD) someone with a mass as large as that report stated pressing on their stomach and pancreas would likely be very, very, ill- possibly unable to eat. The strangest thing was when the doc made a comment about the report showing that Brooks does have cancer **" unless you faked this report"!!!!! Hello?! He certainly would have been able to tell for sure if he had done a proper exam- what was shown was just a quick perfunctory exam. I also found it strange that they did not use an IV pump when infusing the oxygenated blood ( which, btw, can be used for many disorders and to boost health and the immune system). I hate even having doubts about something as serious as cancer, but things still seem dubious where Brooks is concerned.

Yes, even that doctor said, "Unless you faked this report." What. the. hell? Was he covering for himself in some way? This is all just beyond bizarre. I hate that Cancer has stolen this show. I miss the days of Vicki whooping it up on the boat at Lake Havasu and getting hit in the head with a football. The only thing I really enjoyed this season was the ladies' adventures in the South Pacific.
