S04.E05: After

Gale!  Glad we got to revisit the character possibly one last time.  Paring him off with Jennifer and taking out Christopher Lloyd's character is certainly a way to go out.  Jay Karnes can never do wrong in my book.

Totally did not predict they would go there with Jennifer saying something on the lines about how Cole and Cassie should play it safe and only have anal sex, after what happened last time.  Never change, Jennifer!

A lot of twisty time-traveling antics in this one, but I enjoyed it.

Looks like Deacon might be on Team Splinter side after-all!

I loved the scene where Cassie told Cole they were probably responsible for killing the Russians and the whole time loop and then a few scenes later it was actually Jennifer and Gale who killed the Russians...an oops loop.

I think Cassie got all the good lines in this one actually “If we are lucky.  And history has proven we aren’t”  and “bang bang loop loop it was us who killed the Russians all along’l.

Jennifer's "oops loop" was probably my favorite line of hers from the entire show.

I loved all the timey wimey stuff in this ep. I even watched it again to catch all the little clues. And Agent Gale is great. Loved him with Jennifer. Loved how he wore a bullet-proof vest and changed fate. Also, I really enjoyed Christopher Lloyd's character. He did make the red forest sound appealing, and it cleared up some of my confusion over why the 12 Monkeys want to destroy time. I could understnad Cassie seeing how that wasn't necessarily a bad idea, especially after almost losing Cole a couple of times. This is my favorite ep of the three.

Gale is alive! Screw fate. If someone tells you when you're going to die, wear a bullet proof vest. Gale and Jennifer working together was fun. I loved the spy scene at the bar.

As soon as Jennifer found the picture of the hotel room, I knew that Team Splinter caused a time loop. It was fun seeing how it played out and that Jennifer and Gale were responsible for the "oops loop."

Yay! Deacon winked at Jennifer.

I hope somehow, some way, Cole wasn't hallucinating and he makes it to the Florida Keys.

I love that the bullet proof vest was worn by a character told when they would die in an episode with Christopher Lloyd. Very Back to the Future plot point.

It was good but "Butt sex only" instantly became my favourite line from her.

I don't think the butt sex line would have been near as funny without Cassie's reaction to it, so that was good on both of them for the hilarity. Actually, Cassie's apparent low tolerance for Jennifer's antics is a recurring character trait that I've always loved. Cassie also cracked me up with a hand-motion for Jennifer to dial it down a notch when she was getting worked up in the beginning of the episode.

That was good, but I had to turn on closed captioning to understand what she said, and I think Cassie's expression brought the line up a couple of notches. :) My other favorite line was when Cassie said, "Listen, present-day asshole...." LOL

Gah, new favourite episode. I may have rewound the first 15 minutes after the credits a few times because that was the shit right there.

I also hope there are Keys and sand and seagulls at the end. I just think Cole could have brought that across better so the whole thing isn't so very fucked up right now.

Gale is alive, and stayed alive.

I don't even know what my favourite line in this episode was. All of them.

Yes, Cassie's expression should live in GIF infamy.

I'm sorry, I need to go back to my looped viewing because it was so worth the wait.

the butt sex line / Cassie's reaction to it

Not to be anal (pun intended), but the line was "Butt stuff only!" LMFAO!!! Cassie's reaction was so good it almost makes me wonder if Emily ad-libbed it and the reaction was more Amanda's natural surprise and shock. Either way, I love that the show went there; Jennifer never fails to delight and amuse.

If you listen to the 12 Monkeys Uncaged Podcast for this night of viewing, Terry Matalas said that he wrote the line. He said he could tell when all the writers got that part in the script, because they all started laughing.

Oh cool, I didn't know there was a podcast. I guess that's a big part of why he gave me a "like" when I Tweeted about it, lol!

I loved loved loved this episode. I always enjoy the time loop ones. I really appreciate how well thought out they are. Plus, Agent Gale is such a great presence and partnering him up with Jennifer was genius. They were hilarious together. "Are you insane?" "Yes!" LOL I loved each of them realizing that they were the cause of the situation in the hotel room.

Cassie and Cole working together was great as well. Cassie's frustration with yet acceptance of ("bullshit") Cole being Cole is so typical of their relationship. Cassie having to basically lose Cole twice broke my heart for her, especially considering how she's grappling with the fact that she's going to really lose Cole if they do ever win this war. She's already lost so much. Cole has always been more pragmatic about what needs to be done and what the results will be. I hope that Cassie doesn't give in to the temptation of the red forest, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. I'm sure Cole won't have it though. I can't see this show ending in anything else but tragedy for this couple. At least they got a few moments in this episode to...ahem...reconnect. For some reason, I found these few seconds so much hotter than most other lovemaking scenes I've ever seen. It's probably because these characters have really earned this and the actors have shown the depth of their connection in all their other interactions.

Btw, I put on season 1 while I was cleaning my house yesterday. I wasn't really paying attention, when suddenly my ears perked up during Shonin. I sat down and replayed the scene. Sure enough, Jennifer says "Climb the steps, ring the bell". Now, I want to binge the entire series again while actually paying attention. So much respect for the writers/showrunner. I may not have agreed with all their choices, but I love all the effort they put in their planning. It never feels like they're just making things up as they go along.

As usual, there was so much to love in this episode! As much as I love the actual plot of Team Splinter trying to save the world and all the time traveling, what I really love are the relationships between these characters and how much they have grown as they worked together. They really are a family now. Cassie and Jennifer are like sisters. Sometimes they have rare moments of bonding, but they spend a lot of time rolling their eyes at each other and getting under each other's skin (although to be fair, I think Jennifer annoys Cassie a lot more than Cassie annoys Jennifer).

Similarly, Jennifer hasn't given up on Deacon. She thought she could reach the good part of him deep inside, only to find that he's still good.

I love how sunny Gale is. While I understand why Team Splinter tends to be a bit more, I don't know, is sour the best way to describe them? They've been through a lot and they have been fighting an uphill battle for years so I totally get why they aren't all rainbows and unicorns, but that's what makes Gale such a fresh breath of air. He is so upbeat and positive (and not just about how cool it is to see them splinter).

Jennifer's insistence on all the codes and spy stuff was hilarious, as was Gale's "yeah, yeah, I already know all about this!"

Poor Cassie. It's hard enough to deal with having the weight of the world on your shoulders, but to watch the life start slipping away from the person you love most must be even worse for someone who is a doctor.

Cole has always been about the mission from day one, even when he barely knew what the mission was. At the very beginning, he was willing to kill one person to save the world, even before it was personal. Now that he has a real stake in the future (people he loves), he's even more determined to finish the mission and he's even more willing to sacrifice himself in order to accomplish his goal. As much as he loves Cassie, he has known that his chances at getting a happily ever after are slim to none, and he's okay with that as long as he can save everyone else.

I just started a re-watch last weekend and am halfway through season 2.  I HIGHLY recommend it.  I forgot so many little things that are tying into this season.  So grateful that there are writers that care about continuity and obviously had a very well thought-out plan for the entire run of the show.

I was so glad to see Cole and Cassie... connecting... too.  I was just thinking last episode that they haven't really shown too much intimacy that I questioned if they still had romantic feelings.  I knew they would always have a special bond because of all they've been through, but I wasn't even sure it was romantic anymore.  The hand Cassie put on Cole's last week as a gesture of sympathy was nice, but a friend would've done that too.

The relationship wasn't that on the forefront in the third season, and I was okay with that. They make a good team and a good couple, but I'd get annoyed if they had to spell it every other scene. There were plenty of other little moments to make up for it.

I'm sure there was "connecting" off scene as well.

Perhaps they were just glad to finally be able to sleep together in the same bed. Must not have been easy at the old facility.

Spoilers, LOL! ;) I thought it sounded familiar. I've been planning and looking forward to a rewatch series binge since the end of last season and the announcement that this would be the last .

Spoilers? I don't get it.

Aw,  I like that there's so much love for Gale here.  He's my favorite guest character. While I'm glad that he got a happy ending by surviving East Berlin, I kinda wish that this encounter happened prior to 1961. I really liked Gale' s allusion to multiple meetings with Cole (that Cole hadn't experienced yet) at that time. It just seemed like there would have been more meetings in between than what we got to see.

I was annoyed that my streaming service switched 5 and 6, so I saw Die Glocke first.  I had wondered how they found out to go to Germany , but figured it was some detail I missed.  I see this episode put the story in a proper timeline.

i will look here first for the proper order when they show up on my streaming service tomorrow
