ElectricBoogaloo January 10, 2018 Share January 10, 2018 Quote With Jessica's career as an author taking off, Louis worries that she is losing interest in him and attempts to rekindle the flame under Marvin's guidance. Evan skips his way into Emery's seventh grade English class with a particularly hard-to-please teacher, Ms. Doris. When neither can win her over, they seek advice from an unusual source. vibeology January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 Spice World! I've been waiting so long for this! Jessica has been bugging me all season but she was the best part of this episode. (Well, second best. Spice World!) I love that she was assertive and clear without being mean or rude. 5 Link to comment

I agree, it even made sense how Jessica has been this season and her reasons. It all makes sense and I loved how Eddie pointed out to his brothers they are just teacher pets and now they are together, they should figure it out. 2 Link to comment
smash January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 Cute episode. I liked how Eddie was the wise one rather than the two prodigies, without even trying. Marvin continues to be one of the best parts of the show. Don't know what it is, maybe he's a throwback to older sitcoms that had overly cheerful neighbors. 7 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo January 17, 2018 Author Share January 17, 2018 The photo of Eddie and Tig Notaro with the laser beam background was killing me! The place near my house that did those pictures was called Spectrum Photo so I thought the name of the place was a reference to the spectrum of colors in the laser beams. I now know that one had nothing to do with the other, but that was the connection that my brain made at that age. I loved that (1) Eddie had no problem being friends with one of the teachers and (2) that it happened because he was being himself. Heh, I also loved that he was so into the Spice Girls movie. His debate with Nicole about whether it was Posh Spice or Porsche Spice was hilarious. I get that Louis was trying to be nice to Jessica by finding a practical yet appropriately thoughtful gift and offering up sexy time, but dude, read the room. When you're in the middle of something, whether it's a meeting with your editor or while you're making changes to your manuscript, it's not the right time for someone to interrupt you. I think it's harder for people to respect boundaries when you work from home (although there are also lots of tv shows where people just barge into work places to have personal conversations). 2 Link to comment
Silverglitter January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 The show is boring me this season. But damn, do I love me some Marvin. He's just so...sunny. Which is what I used to love about Emery. 1 Link to comment
Sile January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 How great would it have been if the detention teacher had been played by Grant Hill? Stunt casting maybe, but his mom was/is an educator so it would be sort of an homage as well. Barring that, if the show continues on that far, I really want a callback when he joins the Magic. Random weirdness: A few days ago, Tig Notaro popped into my head for no particular reason but I could only remember her first name. A day or so later, her last name popped into my head just as randomly. Then she shows up on my tv last night! 1 Link to comment
possibilities January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 I think they're doing a good job with making Eddie and Jessica more likable, and balancing the relationship between Louis and Jessica this season. I also love what they're doing with Nicole, and her friendship with Eddie is the best. But Emery and Evan are much less enjoyable than they used to be-- it's not enough to kill my interest in the show, but I miss it when Emery was delightful and Evan was OK or likable most of the time. 2 Link to comment

biakbiak January 18, 2018 Share January 18, 2018 I am still confused why they made what we heard of Jessica's book be horrible if they were going to make it an ongoing plot point. 3 Link to comment
theatremouse January 20, 2018 Share January 20, 2018 This may be the influence of a book I just read that contained this very plot point but: I wonder if it'll turn out the publisher thinks her book is a spoof on the genre, while Jessica thinks it's serious. 1 Link to comment
Mellowyellow January 20, 2018 Share January 20, 2018 Marvin is marvellous! Kills me with laughter when he says the silliest things with such a straight and serious face! Loved Jessica in this one. I always love Jessica but I think they sometimes use her for over the top humour at the expense of her character. I liked that her reactions to Louis were very in character but less over the top harsh. They've been doing a great job with her the past few episodes. 3 Link to comment
tennisgurl January 20, 2018 Share January 20, 2018 Marvin is just the best. I love him as a kind of throw back to the Wacky Neighbors of sitcoms past, but less wacky and more mellow. Hi Tig! Nice seeing you here! That 90s/80s style picture of Eddie and Tig was freaking amazing, and I love that Eddie had one teacher who liked him. It was also nice seeing Eddie get to be the mentor for once and help his brothers learn a lesson. Eddie really has grown a lot in the last few seasons. Spice World! Oh my God now THAT is some prime nostalgia! That was my favorite movie back in the third grade! I even had a sleep over with all my friends were we all dressed like Spice Girls and watched the movie together! Memories... 1 Link to comment
ClareWalks January 25, 2018 Share January 25, 2018 Loved when Louis tried to seduce Jessica by saying "I've been doing leg lifts." 1 Link to comment
Camera One January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 They need to make Evan a little less bratty, but I did find his subplot with Emery to be amusing. Louis was a tad annoying with Jessica, though. Link to comment

I hate the book story line. I find it completely unrealistic, from Kenny Rogers loving it to finding her a publisher. It's like they don't quite know what to do with Jessica since she's not involved in the restaurant anymore. Is she even still a realtor? Link to comment
