It was fun to see the mutual fan-boying between Jensen and Corey.  I knew of the band but only really ever listened to some of the slower songs.  I think Corey has a great voice and it paired well with Jensen's.  LOL in Lynn's campaign -- I like the idea of a Winchester song.

Honestly, I think with the boys on TNT ALL. THE. TIME. (Bless you TNT) there are more fans out there than generally understood.  I didn't know anything about Supernatural til 5 years ago (just that it was a show that existed and had a huge fan base).  Since Netflix, TNT, and the ubiquitous gif-fest on social media, I wonder how many people have actually seen the show and recognize the boys.

I always love when people outside the fandom fanboy Jensen.   The mutual fanboying just makes it all the better.   It's great when other musicians confirm that Jensen has a great voice.

Danneel organized a surprise birthday party for Jensen and invited all the past and present cast and crew.  Over 500 people showed up. 

This is just so amazing.  Danneel is the best and Jensen really is loved by all the cast and crew.

Nah, imo they are jus rightly pumping up the Scooby episode--some don't get what a pop cultural thing Scooby is(not saying you necessarily).  Don't see any announcement at Paley.

I really don't think they would go on the talk just to promote one ep of SPN. Scooby being shown at Paleyfest doesn't preclude other announcements.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll promote the show as a whole, themselves, maybe their charities or The Family Business...BUT Scooby first.  But an announcement there or Paley that season 14 is the last...No, I don't see that at all.

I agree with you. It's really like some people want the show to end.  I think there is no way they would say season 13 is the end, 14 I don't know.  There is no way that they are going to announce that the show is over this season, without a whole year of press.

Them being on 'The Talk' actually makes the announcement at Paleyfest less likely, I think.  Because then they'd either have the stars scoop the event OR the stars NOT tell 'The Talk' the big news.

No worries. I totally agree with you that S13 will not be the last. There's no way they'd just end the show without a big announcement especially since the ratings are still holding up well. I'm 50/50 on whether 14 will be the last. I can remember too many similar instances like "the show will end with s5" "it'll end with 7" etc to take a definite end date seriously. The show is still getting strong ratings so there's no reason for the network to cancel. It all comes down to Jared and Jensen IMO and since none of us know them personally there's no way for us to know for definite.

Anticipating a possible announcement does not mean we want the show to end. Both things can co-exist at the same time, both wanting the show to continue and wondering about an announcement.

My specific point is just because they are doing press, doing Paley does not automatically lead to a final year announcement.  And I just don't see them as definitively decided on quitting next year yet...so I see no final season 14 announcement next week.  We'll see soon enough.  That said 14 is possibly the last--though I don't think it will be.

Personally, if Season 14 is the last (and I'm not saying it definitely is as I explained to Diane above) then an announcement in the next month or so would make perfect sense IMO. When they do end the show, whether its next year or season 20, they will want to make a big deal of it and I think we'll have a years notice. They'll want to spend the summer before the final season and the final season itself promoting "the final season" in hopes of regaining the interest of former fans who may be interested in returning to see how things end. Promotion of the final season of a show which is choosing to end as opposed to being cancelled for low ratings is rather standard practice.

Yeah, I think if it's the last season it'll be announcement at the latest in the May upfronts--just get the vibe personally that the J's aren't sure they are doing that.  Maybe I'm wrong--that's my instinct thru how they've been publicly.  And likely 14 won't be the last--more likely 15.  But yes if 14 is it, I expect it soon--just don't see it next week.  And that will be known soon enough.

For the record, I have never thought, not ever said that this will be the last season. I do think it's possible, even likely, the next will be. And I do feel some kind of announcement is brewing. They've had more publicity in this, their thirteenth season, than is normal (for them), magazine covers, late night show for Jared, morning show for Jensen, the big screen and Kansas at comic con, now Paleyfest after how long? I'd love to think it's just the suits and the media finally giving them their due just because they deserve it, but... I think something is coming, and soon.

I did specify I didn't say you specifically didn't understand about Scooby--just some people.  That said I just disagree with your point because they are on the view and on Paley automatically is a bad sign that 14 is the last.  Of course it's ending within a year or two or three--BUT I don't think they(or tptb) are saying lets do all this pub because we are quitting and are going to announce it.  If you disagree fine, I just don't see a worry with the pub or take it as a BAD sign.  IMO we'll go thru Paley without a last season announcement.

Good grief, that's quite a leap. Saying that I think an announcement is coming is not the same thing as wanting the show to end. I am a vocal critic of the current regime, and I want better writing, but I have never and will never wish a few hundred people out of work* just because I don't like it.

*I do wish Dabb out of a job as showrunner though - and have no problem saying so.

Not yet. They're in S5 now, so we'll know if they going to show S12 in about 6 weeks or so.

Before this season started, I was really thinking that Jensen and Jared were ready to hang it up, based on their own comments.  But with all of the media coverage this year, it's like the show has been re-born.  It's on a little network, and it's been around forever, but you can't ignore the social media surrounding this show.  It's always in the top 5, seemingly, which is pretty damn good for an old show.  

It's strange to me that they haven't announced that the show is renewed for next season, but then I don't believe they've announced any of their show renewals on the CW, have they?  It's possible that with the addition of Sunday scheduling, it's going to take them a bit longer to work out which shows are staying and when they'll be broadcast.  I do not see them canceling SPN unless Jared and Jensen have said no more, and considering Jared is literally telling people to make noise about another season, I don't think they're ready yet to walk away.  

My personal opinion is that this talk show appearance is to play up the Scooby episode.  It's a pretty big deal, and I'm sure they want as much promotion out there as possible.  I won't be surprised if we learn that next season will be their last, or that episode 300 will be their last, but I can't imagine they would just end things this season with no advance notice.  The shows been around too long and has too many fans to be that shitty.  I think they'd get a big backlash.

I think The Talk is likely just due to them being in LA for Paleyfest and will probably just generally promote the show.

If they are doing an announcement at Paleyfest, I don't think they'd want to bum out their audience by telling them the show is ending. If there is an announcement, I suspect it will be something fun...like another crossover event or that Wayward and Supernatural have both been picked up.

TBH, I think they're getting so much press over Paleyfest because they're screening the Scooby episode.

Sorry if you took it that way--I added the qualification because I meant not to specify you but just wanted to add that not everybody pays attention to cartoons.  And think the signs you see aren't related to the show quitting because they are doing pub.  One doesn't mean the other--reading way too much into it imo.

I think too much is being made of the Talk. It's as simple as the boys will be in LA so their publicists found them another gig to get additional publicity. I think a renewal would be announced at an event but not a final season. That's more a press release.

I became a fan in 2012 and kept it pretty quiet which was easy because no one it seemed had heard of the show or Jensen Ackles.  Supernatural or one of its stars always won every contest that required votes.  We won the cover of TV Guide years ago and the two announcers embarrassingly had no clue when the win was announced live.

Entertainment shows concentrated on the usual 25 celebrities and my little show and its stars were never mentioned, although we won the tweets for the week, conventions were sellouts, we won all the contests, we won People's Choice almost every year, etc.  (No awards presented on live TV, tho)

But now after all these years my little show and its stars are being noticed.  Jared and Jensen are an interviewer's dream, funny and charming, no awkward silences with these two.  I'm going to be out of the country, so I hope it's all on YT.

It is late. Usually TNT starts showing some of the last season episodes in the late fall. Then, on the next round in winter, they show the complete last season. My assumption is that Netflix is preventing this because they started showing the latest season much earlier than they did previously and want to be the only choice for a specific amount of time - perhaps a year.

I don't think it would be a press release first. I think J2 will make the announcement themselves to fans first. Followed by a press release.

All this attention is exactly why I think things are coming to an end.  Maybe one more season. I think the boys are putting themselves in positions for other parts of their lives and putting their faces out there for potential other projects. I fully understand I could be wrong. And no, I don't want the show to end and to put all those people out of work.  I do want the show to be better that's for sure.-

 

ETA; I also understand better is subjective and mileage varies on that.
