Maggie and Jackson are related by marriage and in some countries that consider incest.

Incest laws is not only applied to people with blood relation.

Except they aren't, because Richard is not Maggie's legal father, so they have no legal relation and also no biological relation.

Was anything said about Ma Shepard and the Shepardettes? Were they called? Did they call?

Yes, Mere asks if she wants to call/them to call and she says no, "she didn't come to my wedding, she doesn't get to come to my tumor." I assume that Tyne Daly was not avail...

What if it was the opposite.  What if they were married first, then Catherine and Richard got married.  They would still be in the same situation they are now.  How could that be considered incest?

Maggie and Jackson are not “incest”, it’s absurd. I don’t ship them, don’t think they have chemistry, and the writing is already getting a little contrived to create these moments for them but they are not incestuous.

At most, considering their situation, it’s just really weird.

They are contrived, with no chemistry and what worse the two actors cannot act but for agenda purposed (like the soaps fans like to say) I ship them.

I'm posting without reading all 4 previous pages, so my apologies if this was already mentioned, but...

Why would a kid just agree to pretend to be sick and join a stranger to travel to America?  Farouk (I think is his name) doesn't know Riggs from a hole in the ground.  How did Riggs convince him to do what he said, and isn't that actually kidnapping?  It was a great gesture and all, but so illogical...

Since Meredith said Nathan was a tumor (like Arizona calling her thing with Dr. Minnick a tumor and Alex wishing he could blame his beat down on Andrew a tumor), I hope it means that pairing is done. As it stands, the Alex/Andrew and Arizona/Dr. Minnick situations are over and done, and I actually wish Nathan would leave with Megan. If she's his great love like he claimed she was, and that being the one thing that made Meredith relate to him, then why even continue this forced charade? Meredith doesn't have to be in love with someone again. Plus, I really like the consistency of Alex voicing his dislike for the guy.

The whole point of Amelia's tumor is to justify explaining away and moving past mistakes, after all.

Am I the only one who wasn't amused by the string of possible interns?  It was like they played on every bad hipster stereotype...  would you really bring a dog to an interview and let it run all over the table?  Would you really answer your cell phone or ask for a snap during an interview?  Not all 20 somethings are stupid or vapid...  if this was supposed to be humor it fell flat for me.

The humor, for me, would have worked if had been dialed down by more than half. Subtly or "brevity is the soul of wit" and all that.

We have the second years over for dinner at the start of each year. No selfies or dogs on the table yet!

I prefer Meredith solo. I was never a fan of Meredith’s until after McDreamy died.

I'm stopping the episode to come and post here (without reading the prior posts) to say that Amelia and her surgical team doing the "power pose" from the Ann Cuddy TED Talk has got to be my favorite pop cultural reference ever in the show.

Ironically -- the only reason I know TED Talks exist is because Cally was invited to do one several seasons ago.

I'm sure some logical explanations for that exists right next to "why Megan isn't traumatized after being a cptive for ten years".. Or maybe I've missed something and they did explain Megan thing? I actually didn't quite understand how did she manage to 'addopt' a kid while being a captive also.. So if anybody could explain that would be great :)

Admit that I teared up when Megan saw Farouk.

Yeah, I thought the actress did a really good job in that scene.

I didn't pick up any romantic vibes between April and Arizona, and hope their relationship doesn't go there. I doubt Arizona would ever be in a legit love triangle, anyway, but if the show did want to go that route, they could just use the already established bisexual Leah. (Or could've, rather, as it appears the character has gone poof.)

Why doesn't DeLuca have anyone?

Yet another place where Leah could've been utilized.

Just remembered something I would have liked to see: a comparison between the new interns and the current doctors as interns. Considering Richard was chief at the time (and we all know the chief is the boss of the whole hospital in Grey's universe and decides everything, even HR matters) he was probably involved in the selection of interns way back. Sure, some doctors came over from Mercy West and others were already fully qualified surgeons/specialists, but he could've referred to MAGIC and even Bailey. Clips aren't feasible but he or Bailey could have said something along the lines of "yeah, but do you remember how we felt about Kerev?" or "well, that was nothing compared to Yang" etc.

Highly agree! I didn't appreciate all the eye-rolling that went on between Bailey and Webber   over the potential interns. Reciting medical terms to yourself to calm your nerves while waiting for an important interview (the first guy) was a deal breaker for them ? Really?  Except for the Super Arrogant Guy (I'm keeping my phone with me because I'm waiting to hear from my first choice, but you guys are definitely my second- yeah, he can go), they were mostly  nervous people eager to make a good impression. I also would love to see how the current crop of Grey"s doctors came off in their interviews. That would make a fun flashback episode...

Yes, please keep Greg Germann!  Demote Amelia, kill her off, I don't care, but keep the new Ginger, please!  His character is awesome.

-I'm loving the comedic direction of this season so far.

-Aw poor Jackson dealing with the crushing expectations the Avery's have placed on his shoulders. Luckily, Maggie's there for him to soothe any ill feelings he may have about his "legacy."

-The dinner conversation was funny, but it just reminded me of how broke I am. I don't understand why Jackson's constantly sulky; if I had that much money, to borrow from the twisted sisters, I would be "dancing it out" every single day of my life. Either give the entire money away and pocket some for Harriet or keep it and be mindful of the responsibility of it. I hate spoiled rich men who act like this and this personality aspect of Jackson isn't appealing. I get that the Avery's are respected and blah blah, but try to form a personality not revolving around your family's fortune. For 8 seasons, this man has battling with the Avery name or whether or not he wants to be with April. I hope this season gives him something where I'm not constantly rolling my eyes at him.

-Loved the dinner scenes and again if Maggie and Jackson are supposed to form a relationship, it's supposed to be awkward at the beginning. I will say that Kelly McCreary is a much stronger actor than Jesse Williams. For that matter, so is Sarah Drew. I genuinely believe that if not for Sarah's acting skills making up for Jesse's, Japril wouldn't be as popular. He better catch up soon because the constipated pretty face with no range whatsoever is getting old. He still fine though and should grow out a beard.

-Loved the Beyonce line Maggie made.

-Whaddayaknow the tumor was the thing that made Amelia be this obnoxious since season 11. I haven't watched Private Practice in years and I don't intend to start again soon, but I am curious about that version of Amelia compared to the whiny brat we got here.

-I don't care enough about Owen or Jo as characters.

-I hope this season gets messy by having Amelia hooking up with Deluca because why not?

-The sister comment Catherine made was funny and the way Maggie and Jackson was taken aback from that was good. It's clear they've never viewed each other as siblings and the writers absolutely wrote that to rile people up.

-Single Meredith is more interesting than booed up Meredith and the show should stay that way. Unless they give her someone as deeply troubled as Meredith claims to be, I don't want to see another Riggs.

-I want to see an April/Arizona hookup just because. I wonder if the whole Jesus thing wasn't weighing her down, if she would be open to a relationship with a woman. That would be way more refreshing for Arizona and April for that matter. But then, I don't want to see Arizona bogged down by April's relentless consuming love for God.

On a shallow note,  I personally don’t think Maggie is attractive at all, and Jackson is, so speaking by a physical stand point,  I just can’t find any reason he would be into her.  With April and Stephanie it was more realistic.

No offense, but are you seriously acting like April is Aphrodite reincarnated? April is cute, but she's not gorgeous and if this were a different show, Jackson wouldn't have even looked at her twice. If we're going to compare looks then, of those you've mentioned, she would be last on the list.  Maggie is pretty and the fact that you think that Jackson wouldn't be into her is funny. He clearly thinks she's fine.

I think they're both pretty but I see zero evidence of Jackson being attracted to Maggie at all. There is no chemistry there. The show can keep trying to tell me there is but I don't buy it. I did believe he was attracted to April.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  So no one here is right or wrong about these characters.
