That doesn't surprise me that Daya Americanized her name for the show. Or maybe TLC did it for her, to appeal to more people.

 

So what are these negative connotations? I am not familiar with Filipino language.

What follows next is wild, unsubstantiated gossip so please take it with about a pound of salt. Also, the thread was difficult to follow which may have had something to do with the tequila mixed drink recipes that were interjected into that very same thread.

Angela has a fiance named Mohammed who is also quite the cougar bait; her fiance spells his name differently but that, and possible tequila consumed by jaded, jilted women might account for the confusion. Anyway, apparently Angie went after or flirted with Danielle’s Mohamed and posted some crap on her Facebook page? Everything on her page is private now so again, I don’t what the real story is if any. If it helps, I couldn’t find that Angie on Dani’s friend list.

It sounds like the how we met testimonials on Visa Journey and the other spousal visa sites. The show does have some fake but real people of different cultures are really marrying.

Looks like Danny's family (and him) are in a pretty successful Christian band called CoastalRise. His brother appears to be the drummer and Danny performs with the band. Their Instagram account has a photo from July which says it is the Frishmuth wedding, so I assume they got married! Also, if they are a Christian band, it explains a lot of the separate houses, tight knit family stuff.

Thank you ShaNaeNae I do consider a hobby of mine ,too.Sometimes can be a bit obsessive in my case,lol...As this show is really over edit and stage that season...Such a pitty last season I liked , but this one is became a JOKE...Everyone is xenophobic on 90 days fiance FB. Since just about every Filipino family has a Maria as one or more of their daughters, most of those girls have to go by another name and many if not most Filipinos in general are known by a nickname or a just a title, "ate" or big sister, and "kuya" or big brother being the most common.Seeing the exposed pictures of Daya she would also be an ate in most situations. Daya itself would  be an odd name to choose, she would have spent her childhood being teased about it. Aya, is not uncommon.

 

I am surprised the TLC cameras have not caught either Aya or Daya calling their husbands dad or daddy as that would be the normal form of address for a bethrothed or mate.

Well, I don't know if its all a lie. His father has a problem with interracial marriages, so I could see him, in the midst of not wanting to get in trouble with his dad, telling his brother that Amy was "tan" and not partially black.  I saw a black guy at the party, but for Danny's family the problem may be with interracial relationships, not just black people overall.  And the black guy in the band is most likely American, it wouldn't make any sense to ask him to speak African, but Amy is from Africa, so however misguided it makes sense for an ignorant person to ask someone from Africa to speak African, but not to ask a black guy that has lived in America his entire life.

I would only say that if his brother told him different, told him that she was just "tan" he may have gone with that.  Why would he think that that his brother was lying to him?  I'm aware of mixed race people, but even sometimes I get confused, I didn't realize Mariah Carey was part black.  I truly didn't know, to me, she just looks tanned.  I knew a guy who had a traditionally white last name, but turned out he was half Mexican/half white, I would have never known.  Carol Channing, Soledad O'Brien are both mixed race and I would have never known, Carol Channing never even looked like she had a tan.  I only mention this to point out that someone can look dark and actually be tan, and someone can look white and be mixed race, so its not so crazy that Danny's brother would believe him when he said Amy was tan.  And additionally, black people can tan, so maybe he was just referring to her skin tone and wasn't trying to say that she wasn't black.  I mean, I would have thought it was awkward, even if she was black, for the first words out of the guys mouth to be "my brother was right, you sure are black!"

I must say Amy and Danny's wedding looked very tasteful and rustic. Her wedding dress looked great too. I always liked the more simple dresses, myself. I hope the Frishmuth family's perceived ignorance onscreen is just producer manipulation. I am guessing it is, because why would Amy stick around if the family was truly that stupid? She seems like she's educated, rational, worldly, and would not allow herself to be treated like an exhibit by her future in-laws.

 

I bet that's the sort of wedding those Duggar daughters would have dreamed of...but couldn't figure out how to plan for themselves, instead of their weird mishmash of Pinterest ideas. *snerk*

There are some concerning things on his FB.  For example, there is a picture at the very end of a guy that appears to have face wounds and he may or may not be dead.  There is also something about defending the messenger of Allah.  I don't want to be that girl, but the whole thing seems odd.

 

ETA: and yes, I know I'm being that girl, but the picture of someone's bruised face who looks like they may be dead is just weirding me out.  Someone who knows better than me, please explain how this is all innocent and how I'm totally being that girl about it.
