So what the hell are Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott up to? They seem to be just as hinky as the Underwoods, but what their objectives are is still unclear.

I'm so confused! They are working together, right?

Okay so Patricia Clarkson was shredding a file about Aiden at the end...so somebody killed him and she was involved? Or did he kill himself? I wasn't sure. And since Leann's gun was used to kill him I guess that means she'll be in a shit storm.

Frank was so fucking dumb to talk to Walker. Why aggravate the guy!

Clarkson's Davis character has been involved with the Aiden situation since they extracted him from Russia. Not sure how Aiden got out for their custody though.

Pretty sure her people had him killed and dealt with. Using the gun and that particularly shot made it seem like suicide but I highly doubt it.

I don't know what the hell is going on with the User/Davis situation but both actors are so menacing in different ways. Clarkson rarely does wrong in my eyes.

There are 3 episodes left, and I'm still not sure what the hell is happening, or what grand plans the Elysian Fields crew had, or what the heck was the deal with the implosion of Conway/Burkhardt, or what are the nebulous loyalties and plans of Usher and Davis.

10 episodes to basically win a transparently rigged election, plus some fluff about dangling threads that might (and I stress "might") haunt the Underwoods.  Eventually.  Maybe in season 7.  Because most houses of cards are made with two decks, and we have to build up slowly to the epic moment in the series finale at the end of season 8 when Frank's last fourth-wall breaking monologue has him dressed as a lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest.

I like Scott and I flove Clarkson so in addition to art imitating the crapfest that is our current socio-political atmosphere I'm also examining their chemistry especially since I think they were together romantically for a while.

Yeah, I got no clue what's going on. Let's start not one but two Conway red herrings then ditch him completely. Let's turn Reporter Tom into a cable news talking head. And by all means let's light all the women like they're ready for the mortuary.

I wish I was more into all of this. It seems to finally be building to something - hopefully it will - but with only three episodes left, I'm feeling disappointed.

I was hoping that guy was really free to go. Of course he wasn't. Damn. Hopefully Leann will talk to someone, and stay safe, so that she isn't next.

I'm so confused, with the rest of it. Claire is talking way too much to Tom. He looks like he's taking everything in. That was the first time they actually seemed like a couple, to me - the way they were talking. I can't remember if she talked about Frank that explicitly, with the artist from the first seasons.

Was the scientist from that ship, Thad, was his  death foul play? Russian or Chinese? Suicide? I'm really confused.

I was confused about that, too. I thought that there wasn't an American scientist on that ship, just "intel" that Jane wanted. Why does everything have to be so obtuse on this show?

And Tom has nothing else to do but hang around in the WH kitchen waiting for Claire to stroll in. Where does he think the relationship is going? And why would she tell him about the murders of Peter and Zoe? (Mind you, I don't believe for a minute that he will do anything about it.)

Pretty sure Aiden didn't kill himself. Aside from the ominous shot of Jane shredding his file at the end, I find it pretty unlikely that a suicide's gun could end up on the bed so far away from the body, especially with no blood around it. But then again all of my CSI training was gained from watching tv and movies.

The top comment in reply to the below post on reddit, where someone asked kind of the same question, explains it well; my own understanding is that the scientist was the technology because he was some kind of specialist in a niche field geological survey.  Russia didn't want to admit to anything about oil exploration, and the Underwoods couldn't make a stand because of Macallan, so the Chinese were allowed to rescue the listed people, while the unlisted scientist was left for dead/killed/locked in a cabin; his body was later retrieved in secret by the US and disposed of.

McCallan's death definitely wasn't suicide.  Watched plenty of Forensic Files to see that.  Who commits suicide by shooting themself in the eye?  Also, gun would be on the floor or his lap, not far away on the bed.  Plus, the cops said the gun was missing.  That screams foul play.  Not sure how he got away, but I did figure he wasn't going to make his destination.

And on Claire, the line from Scarface is very true when it comes to her, "Don't underestimate the other guy's greed!!!"  Or, in her case, ambition.  She sold Frank out in season 1 when she turned a vote that Francis thought he had locked up, when it would have affected her water non-profit organization.  Frank knows what she is capable of, so his paranoia is warranted.

Ok, yes, Frank is arranging to let a number of Syrians die so that he can force the War Committee to declare war and stop investigating him.  Which is awful. On the other hand, he also told Claire that writer Tom had to go, so I'm completely on Frank's side in this episode.

Jane Davis is great, though. I wish the episode had more of her and less of writer Tom.

I'm up to the point where Stamper follows Lisa into that alley and scares her to death. He decided not to kill her then, but I hope she has enough sense to get a gun, be cautious and wary, and I hope to blazes he goes back and she kills him this time. I'm sick of people becoming victims of freaking Stamper. Seth could be the one who brings him down, but it would be more satisfying to see Rachel's friend, the meek and mild Lisa, do it!

So was Aiden's email to Leanne one of those things that you set up and then 'check in' to keep the message from getting sent?  If so, when did he set it up?  How did he 'check in' while he was kidnapped by the Taliban or sold to the Russians?

I guess Jane has some sort of black-ops set up that killed Aiden?  Who is she dealing with to do such things?

And wtf Claire telling Tom about the murders?

And Frank, that was stupid.  If you're going to gloat over Walker, wait till after he testifies.
