Landlord May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 Thirsty fired? And he crossed to the Cookie side? Beautiful. I finally like him. IDK if it's just me that's not paying attention, but grandma Leah looked like she put on a few pounds? Or maybe it was just the clothes she was wearing. That glass in the meat pie was very, well... Grand-ma Leah. And Thirty's bits with Becky? Hilarious! I AM THE LOCK! Love it! Carol and Candace crack me up! Candace when she put on them sunglasses cracked me up! I love the 'ocean 11' feel of the casino bits! It was nice to see the three sisters work together. I had reservations about Tariq coming back, but they do work very well together. Wonder what Tariq will ask in return. Poor Hakeem. I feel so bad for him, looking for his kid like that. I feel no sympathy for Andre. It's long gone. And is there somewhere Lucious isn't? He keeps on popping out everywhere Cookie is... Stalk much, Lucious? HOLY CRAP! Grand-Ma Leah done did it now! WOuld not be surprised if Lucious returned her to her home. Or just puts a bullet in her. I cannot wait for next week, based on the previews! "Bye, bitch!" 3 minutes ago, mtlchick said: The Vegas caper Empire style was a hoot. Artsda May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 I loved the Ocean's 11 style safe cracking in Vegas. All of them together was hilarious and awesome. Loved it so much. Lucious is either under some kind of mind control or he's got a master plan with this Guilana stuff. There's no way he's just taking orders like this. They for sure dropped something with this Guiliana story mid-way by trying to separate Nia and Taraji. It's all happened too dis-jointed and fast. Holy moly Mama Leah and why did Tariq need to come tell Lucious in person? 3 words - Dubois's have her! 9 Link to comment
Dee May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 (edited) Candace, Cookie & Carol sashaying into the casino was another iconic scene. The Holloway Sisters are amazing when they work together. Kevin finally arrived and he always bets on Black. Can Franklin & Brianna be far behind? The Walker Brothers made a pretty formidable team too. Unfortunately Nana Leah put a stop to that. lol Cookie & Andre's relationship remains fascinating. One of the best things Empire has done this season is pairing Trai & Taraji more. That said, the Lyon Sons NEVER show Cookie ANY loyalty. She is ALWAYS there for them, no matter what & they ditch her the moment Lucious breathes in their general direction; which makes their constant jabs at her priorities laughable. Eva Longoria gives good Bitch. Nia Long is a solid actress but she's considerably flat as the resident femme fatale. Regina Hall or Penny Johnson Jerald would've killed as Guiliana. Poor Hakeem. He can be an immature brat most days but the kid is ALL heart. Becky & Thirsty are the best. Gabby & Andre make a great comedic duo. Speaking of comedic duos, I could watch Tiana & Nessa snipe all day. Sierra McClain really brings out Serayah's personality. Edited May 18, 2017 by Dee 8 Link to comment
wanderingstar May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 When Cookie was trying to get everyone in on the caper and the majority walked out, I said to my sister "Not quite Ocean's 11, is it." Still, the Great Ledger Capture Caper was fun to watch. Candace and her blackjack-loving husband, Carol and her thwarted attempt to flirt with the security guard, Becky being pressed into action on the flirting front, and Cookie and Thirsty monitoring it all from the trailer, I LOVED every second of this Ocean's 11/12/13 lite. Quote Candace, Cookie & Carol sashaying into the casino was another iconic scene. The Holloway Sisters are amazing when they work together. I loved that so much. This show has really brought the iconic moments this season. Andre is so hateful. He needs to be taken down as much as his treacherous daddy. RIP, Tariq. I was kind of looking forward to seeing him try to integrate into the Lyon family. Damn, Mama Walker can hold a grudge. Anika better watch out. Poor Hakeem. I'm really loving the music this season. I did love that Jamal decided to push back his album. I have no idea why Empire would schedule all their big albums to come out back to back anyhow. That means your stars are competing against each other rather than stars from other labels. I get that one of the main points on this show has always been the competition between Lucious and Jamal but even Cookie should have seen the sense in holding back the album and getting a bigger release down the line. As for that ending? Amazing!!!!! That's the sort of shock I expect from this show and it did not disappoint. Of course, it leaves poor baby Bella in a bad spot but it'll make for a crazy episode next week. 3 Link to comment

Vixenstud May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 Chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile I had a good time watching this eppy last night! From the camaraderie of everyone during Operation Get Guiliana to the ending, it felt like Season One again! First of all, soon as Lucious fired Thirsty I knew he was up to something and Jamal suddenly backing out of promoting When Lucious Met Cookie confirmed it. Thirsty is a lot of things (Andre Royo, do your thang boy!), but it would take something stank for Lucious to ever fire him. Loved the nod to one of my all-time favorite movies, Casino! At first I thought Tariq was going to double cross Lucious about finding baby Bella….I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and boy did it, I screamed out when that icepick went into his neck! My question is why was he the devil all of a sudden to Mama Lyon? Wasn’t she working with him previously to get Lucious? I wish they would have kept some of next week’s scenes a secret, specifically what looks like to be Lucious and Cookie getting back together….while I cain’t wait to see the scenes it would have been a helluva lot sweeter if I didn’t know about it in advance. 1 Link to comment

I remember Lucious telling her that the woman Andre was dealing with was dangerous. So Cookie knew full well that this all started with Andre. I know Shine/Andre are working together in secret but if the end game for them is to get rid of Lucious, getting rid of her is a good first step and revealing she killed her husband is a nice tidy way to get rid of her. Just seems odd that Andre would want to keep Shine quiet. I guess he just doesn't want his mother to know how "in" with Shine he has been for months now. Link to comment

Yes, but she's not aware how deep Andre's schemes run. Cookie has spent the majority of the back half of the season trying to curb her oldest son's reckless decisions and homicidal impulses, but as long as she's preoccupied with Guiliana, he (and Shine) are free to operate on his/their own terms. 2 Link to comment

Margohill May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 (edited) Well, where do I begin? I just really appreciated the fact that all the major characters made an appearance in this episode. It was like a grand reunion of all the major Empire players. The sisters Grand entrance into the Vegas casino was epic, I agree. I always love it when the sisters hangout together because they are always a riot. Giuliana needs to be killed like right now! I can't believe she gets Lucious to fire Thirsty, kick Cookie out of Leviticus Vegas and pull him away from his entire family. If it were not for the fact that I highly suspect Lucious has a grand scheme of his own to get back at Giuliana, I would be very ticked right now. Am I the only one who thinks that Nia Long isn't putting much into that character? Her acting is bland. She is supposed to make us feel like she is a real threat, a real competition for Cookie, a danger and quite ruthless but she just comes across as flat, no emotion, no charisma, NOTHING. She doesn't even seem like she is that much into Lucious. Why was she hired for this role? What a waste. I can only imagine what someone like Viola Davis or Gabrielle Union could do with that role. SMH I feel sorry for Hakeem. When he was just starting to bond with his baby then he loses her. No doubt he is traumatized right now. I am very worried he may not get his baby by the end of this season BUT, that would be a good cliff-hanger to keep the fans worrying all summer about the fate of baby Bella and the twisted Mrs. Dubois. Oh! boy, there will be so much to look forward to next season if that happens. Thirsty getting fired just came out of the left field. I think Lucious is doing everything to satisfy Giuliana just to get his plan into action. I can't wait to see the outcome. Cookie and her "resistance team"..LOL!! Too bad she couldn't get a grip on Andre and Shine. It's really getting bad between those two. The Oceans 11 plot was awesome. Everyone had a part to play. Becky cracking that safe was hilarious! Porsche screaming at Andre and Shine fighting was hilarious. It was a blast finally meeting Candace's white husband. It's great continuity on the part of the writers to actually put a face on some of those characters who have only been mentioned. It was quite a twist when Carol turned out to be the one to actually break into the safe. That was a very intense moment and I was yelling at my TV screen-"Get on with it Carol!!". That was a nail-biter. Andre is the real 'Don Corleone' in this whole gangster plot. I was shocked to see how smoothly he played Charlotte. He walked into that casino, brushed Lucious aside and seduced that woman right infront of his father. When he appeared in that office and kissed her after Lucious just paid her off, I was screaming. Andre is a smooth operator. I can't wait to see his end-game. I loved his scene with Cookie when he finally confided in his mother and told her everything about Charlotte. That was a wonderful moment. You all know I'm dying to see Andre get close with his mama. That was awesome. I hope he's not being a weasel this time. Lucious and Tariq bonding together over beating a victim to a pulp was something. It was great to see them at least talk to each other as brothers and it was so sad how it all ended. Mama Lyon is insane and should be locked up. Anika should thank God she is still alive. Putting glass is someone's food? When she stabbed Tariq, that was an absolute shocker! Lucious needs to get her out of that house ASAP!! No one was safe in that house with that woman in there. Now Lucious will never know where baby Bella is. Too bad. Another excellent episode!!!! I can't wait to see next week's episode. Jamal backing down in favor of Lucious's "Inferno" was foul. I hope it was a good decision. I want Giuliana gone, gone, gone, as in "Bye bi@tch"!, I hope Cookie and Lucious hook up again, what happens to baby Bella?, looks like Anika will get blamed for Tariq's killing (karma!), what is Andre's endgame? So many questions. Will they all be answered in next week's episode? Edited May 18, 2017 by Margohill 6 Link to comment
tennisgurl May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 Holy shit, Grandmas got a knife and she's ready to use it! Again, holy shit! I'm legit shocked right now. I never liked Tariq, but he didn't deserve that! Grandma Lyon really needs to get locked up again, that lady is officially a danger to herself and others. Mostly others. You know, as much of an asshole Lucious is, and his pushing Inferno up over Cook/Lucious is clearly a power play against Cookie...he isn't wrong that launching both records at the same time is a bad call. The PR guy was right, launching two huge projects at once would cause them to cannibalize each other, and would make it impossible to give either one the PR and advertising push they need. Damn it, I hate when Lucious is right! I hate it! At this point, he isn't even the most dangerous member of his family! Poor Hakeem just wants his daughter back. I hope they get reunited, and this inspires him to be a better parent. Anika might love Bella, but she's still the lady who deliberately shoved a woman down the stairs to kill her unborn child, so I wouldn't say she's an ideal mother figure. I loved the sisters doing their Oceans 11 thing with Thirsty, it was hilarious, and nice to see the sisters on the same page. Plus, added Becky! She and Thirsty are great together, and I LOVED that after the security guy ignored Cookies history shoving herself all over him, he immediately was attracted to Becky. I know this is a secret mission and all, but get his number girl, he was cute! I have no idea why Giuliana has this amazing hold over Lucious, and why she's suddenly calling the shots. I mean, firing Thirsty is an AWFUL idea. The dude LITERALLY knows where the bodies are buried! He could turn their asses in for all the shot they've done that he's seen or helped with in a flash. I'm looking forward to the day when Cookie can be all "Bye Felecia" on her. 3 Link to comment
phoenics May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 This show has officially gone back to Season 1 levels of holy sh!t awesome. Fans who aren't watching are really missing out. So so good. I hollered and screamed when Mama Lyon stabbed poor Tariq. He was annoying but it's not HIS fault he's a bastard child. Sheesh! And of course now Lucious won't know where Bella is - he needs to just hire a PI then. And trace Tariq's phone from the place where he called Lucious. Easy peasy. But of course this won't happen. This episode made me SO HAPPY. I was super excited last week at the promos because I knew they were gonna do it Ocean's Eleven style! And they did not disappoint at all - so so good. I hope the opening Sinatra (that was Sinatra right) with the mixed in hip hop beats will be available on the Empire album because I want it! Loved the hair, clothes, makeup - ALL OF IT!! I loved Cookie doing this with her sisters and I just loved Candace bringing her husband so we could see he existed and I loved Gabby and I loved Porsha (she had one shining moment when Cookie agreed with her, lol). And was that Taraji's son on the couch and working the tables? This episode is my favorite ALLL season. The show finally remembered that having Cookie all calm all the time is boring and we needed more of her craziness - and also her scenes with Porsha - I mean, those two are gold... how could the show have dropped that? Also - hair and makeup. This show really makes the sistas on the show look AMAZING. The lighting is perfect, the makeup colors are not ashy or whitecast... the foundations shades appear true to life and not overly heavy - I love Cookie's glitter lipstick (I have both lip kits from Pat McGrath). Her dress was appropriately vegas-fabulous. Her suit she wore when she met Charlotte was FABULOUS - probably Gucci? Her sweater dress looked like it was Peter Pilotti (sp?) - FABULOUS do you hear me? ALL of it. Hair and makeup and wardrobe have been ON POINT. ON POINT! It's hard to believe Taraji is 46 years old. Thank you Jesus for evening out the odds that come from living in a racist society by giving black women melanin. We still look 10-20 years younger than we are most of the time. Andre and Shine? Hmmm... I still think they might be working behind the scenes together and their public fights are just for show. Andre's endgame is still to take Vegas and maybe all of Empire from Lucious - so ... earlier in the season he wanted to kill Lucious so I still think something nuts like that is coming up. After Lucious gets rid of Guilliana and reveals his plan to Cookie, and they get back together and it looks like the family is reunited and somewhat happy, then I think Andre's diabolical plan will come to fruition, blowing everything to pieces. Based on the promos for next week, we see a car exploding... half of me thinks we're about to see a very Dallas style ending with JR - I mean Lucious - getting blown up like Sue Ellen did after she and JR reunited... a full season after they "Dallas'd" Bobby.... I wonder if we will think Lucious is in the car and Cookie sees it - thinking he's dead - just as they'd reunited. When Lucious fired Thirsty that's when I knew that Lucious is setting Guilliana up. He's going after her for some kind of major revenge - he just wants Vegas too. And he's right about the albums launching - Cookie's jealousy and (justifiable) hatred for Guilliana is blinding her to the fact that launching two albums at the same time doesn't let either one shine or breathe. It's better overall for Empire, Jamal, her and the whole family to release them separately. It's nuts how Lucious is sounding normal and Cookie is just unable to be reasonable. But she loves Lucious and she's angry. That scene where Lucious yelled at Jamal and Hakeem for dogpiling Cookie? Yeah - he's in love with Cookie too and this Guilliana stuff is just an act. 6 Link to comment

thuganomics85 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 As soon as Tariq (welcome back briefly, I guess) said he was going to tell Lucious in person instead of the phone, I figured he was a goner. And when they kept dragging the reveal out at the house, I figured it was going to be Leah, especially after she put glass in his food earlier. But stabbing him through the neck was still insane! Leah is nuts and I love her for it! Looking past how Lucious is going to handle this (is he going to hide the body or claim Tariq broke in and Leah defended herself?), I wonder how he'll find out that Bella is with the Dubois. Maybe he'll be able to track Tariq's phone? Or did is car have GPS? I hope Lucious is playing some kind of angle with Giuliana, because he sure is coming off like a fool here. Firing Thirsty was a bad idea on so many levels. He was lucky Thirsty just decided to team up with Cookie to take down Giuliana, and didn't use all the knowledge he has to dig up one of the many, many skeletons that Lucious has and Thirsty knows about. Even if the heist didn't work out, it was fun watching Team Cookie get their "Ocean's 11" on. Especially the return of Candice and Carol. I really like how the sisters interact with one another and even though they obviously get on each others' nerves all the time, there is a loyalty and love there. And, of course, I'm glad to see more of the Thirsty/Becky pair, which is slowly becoming one of my favorites. Poor Hakeem. Losing Bella is really doing a number on him. I certainly get the logic over why putting "From Cookie to Lucious" against "Inferno" would be a bad idea, and why Jamal agreed to delay it at the end, but it being Lucious, I'm still waiting for an alliterative motive. Damn, Andre is not fucking around! I don't think anyone has any idea just how far he is willing to go. Can't wait for the finale. This has been an awesomely batshit, insane season, where I have no idea what is going to happen next, and I love the show for it! 6 Link to comment
crowceilidh May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 It seems clear to me that Lucious is playing Giuliana. My question is who knows this? Thirsty just walked when told to go? So he knows? Cookie is hysterical on the subject of Giuliana - that's where Hakeem must get his centre-of-the-universe hysteria from. How is Cookie so blind to how she's coming across on the subject? I would have walked out on her plot too. She has to have clear examples of the danger coming from Giuliana, not just wild detail-free assertions. You'd think the DuBois would be more clever about how they hid Bella. I wonder if Momma's boy Angelo will confess to a Lyon about it - he sure didn't look comfortable at the discovery that his mother is as batshit crazy as a Lyon. I thought Eva Longoria was very wooden in her acting. I was disappointed. I really enjoyed the assumptions both sides were making about each other (you people and the Mormons). I want Andre to be exposed. 2 Link to comment

They lead with their hearts in a way the rest of the family doesn't. Cookie is right to be paranoid about Guiliana though imo. She used Andre to gain access into the Lyons inner circle, essentially isolated Lucious and is quickly working to control all of Empire, not just its casinos. That's a hell of a power play for anyone, let alone someone with a lot of baggage like Guiliana, who's only been around a few months. And it's not like Cookie's mistrust of Lucious is unfounded. He's spent the past several months telling everyone who would listen that Guiliana is dangerous and not to be trusted, yet he's already moved her into the mansion and allowed her free reign over his business affairs. Plus Lucious has a history of throwing Cookie under the bus, both as a lover and a business partner, whenever the mood suits him. Lucious & Cookie, work extremely well as a unit when rubber meets the road, but Lucious habit of placing his own self preservation over Cookie sinks their ship every time. Even now, he feels it's more important to implement whatever 'scheme' he's presumably working on with regards to Guiliana on his own, instead of confiding in, and working with, Cookie. LaChavalina May 20, 2017 Share May 20, 2017 Kind of a silly and campy episode, but some fun moments. I still hate Nia Long's acting in this part. Basically every scene: Say something bitchy, flip hair, make duck lips, strike a pose. Eva Longoria was better, but I still got a good chunk of the way into this episode before I finally sorted out who her character was and why she was important. darkestboy May 23, 2017 Share May 23, 2017 That was a lot of fun. The Ocean's Eleven capers of Cookie and the gang trying to get Giuliana's ledger had me in hysterics. I hated that Lucious fired Thirsty but loved that the latter threw his lot in with Cookie though. Charlotte got a bit more interesting in this episode but I saw the hook up with her and Andre coming a mile off though. Lucious and Tariq actually made for a good team until Leah went and killed the latter. Did not see that one coming, 8/10 1 Link to comment
