A car accident that occurs at the Chicago Marathon leaves a victim in critical condition and tests the mettle of Dr. Halstead, April and her fourth-year medical resident brother Noah, who must perform a difficult procedure in the field. A mother brings in her 8-year-old girl experiencing a sudden hearing loss, and Dr. Manning is left to tend to the case, which takes a complicated turn. Dr. Choi deals with Olga, a woman who is malnourished, prompting him to bring in Dr. Charles to help assess the case. Meanwhile, Goodwin takes measures to get her personal life in order.

Yeah--and they went 24 minutes and the guy wasn't paralyzed anyway. What's up with that?

So am I the only one who expected all those arms stuck in the guy's ribcage were going to pull out a calf, like Billy Crystal in City Slickers? Unintentionally hilarious. And the gigantic bloody tissue-y wound still is more attractive than Halsted's hair.

From the previews it looks like the sex trade heroin addict from last week gets a return visit next week and PD will be involved. My faith in Dick Wolf is restored.

Man, April's brother still sucks. I went the whole episode just blaming him for the guy who almost went paralyzed. I didn't even blame Dr. McDouche! So congrats, April's brother. You end up first place in the Biggest Douche Contest! And you didn't even do anything that bad! I just don't like him that much.

So....it took one season and five episodes for me to feel bad for Halstead, but....the show made me feel bad for Halstead for half a minute. He really is more likable when he's not pining over Manning/Mama McDouche. Plus, I just want Dr. Nina Shore to stay forever and ever. Plus, she got to share a scene with Colin Donnell! Even if they weren't looking at each other! One day we'll get a scene of those two talking, even if it is about Halstead! But seriously, show, please make her a regular next season. She's too good to give up. This show hasn't ruined all the characters for me like Chicago Fire has, so I have high hopes.

Man, I went through a roller coaster of emotions with the hearing loss case.

I LOVED Connor and Goodwin's scene at the end. That was so sweet of him to take her out after she signed her divorce papers. They both clearly needed it after a long, stressful day.

All that over Halstad having to get some outrageously expensive malpractice insurance and that isnt mentioned when APRIL's BROTHER almost causes a guy to be permanantly paralyzed?

Next week looks good.  Is it a two-night 'event' with PD, or just PD characters on Med?

Halsted went through all that anxiety when it was April's brother who started that mess, yet bro had NO anxiety whatsoever, la la la.  Is he supposed to be an unlikable character?  Because he has been from the first minute and has never, ever gotten the least bit more likeable.

The worst part is that April cheered her own brother on after everything happened. It's what made me confused on if April's brother actually did something wrong or if my gut feeling about him was incorrect.

We desperately need a nickname for April's brother. And unlike my previous nicknames of Dr. McDouche to Halstead and Splendorkable for Sarah's cute boyfriend, I can't think of one that accurately describes April's brother. Fuckface just doesn't roll off the tongue, and I want to keep the nickname more PG, but it's difficult.

Student HotAir?  Because he really seems to be full of it.

The more they keep Halstead away from Manning and with Dr. Patty, the more I like him.  Good move, Chicago Med.

Why do they keep sidelining Rhodes?  I think April's douch brother got more time this episode than he did.

Dear Dr. Charles:  I like you but it you're going to hang out with Sharon's scumbag husband who walked out on her without even trying to keep their multi-decae marriage intact, you're deadtome.  It was nice to see Betty Buckley and Anita Gillette again.

I felt badly for the mom of the little girl but why was she taking a chronic problem to the ER on race day when there was a heat wave going on?

My three favourite characters are Conner Rhodes, Goodwin and Sarah Reese. The ladies got good screentime but the delicious Dr Rhodes was barely there. However, he made up for minimal screentime by speaking in Spanish. It's sooooo sexy.

Exactly. That is my only question about his run of the mill medical soap. What's up with that hair? Is it real? Is it a toupe? Does he get his weave from the same place as Lindsey on Chicago PD, the idiot on Blind Spot or Kim Zolciak?

The only doctor I ever saw with worse hair was Dr. Zorba. (Yeah I am old as shit)

Apparently that his real hair and real hair colour.  Not sure where I read that, but after all the discussion on here I had to check it out.  Someone just doesn't know how to style it in a flattering manner.

I'm going to deny ever having said this, but I actually found myself a little moved by Halstead's part of the story.  Not so much April's Brother, because he just sucks, but I don't know, I was in the right mood and it hit me in the right place.  And him holding up the tape for Nina to cross just so she'd be able to say she had finished a marathon was adorable.

I'm really glad they didn't opt for a cliched third act when the power would actually have gone out.  ER did a great episode along those lines, but I just think it would have been too much here.

I like student hot air, as suggested above, because I don't even consider him a doctor-- that would be giving him too much credit.

That was Betty Buckley?  I didn't recognize her.  I did get Anita Gillete.  It's great that they both still look lovely and human.

I didn't recognize Betty Buckley at all. Reminded myself that she's only 3 years older than me...

I'm in on Halstead/Patty. I want the wedding and kids for them. They'll have cute, happy, red headed babies.

Adore how they mix the staff up. Last week it was Maggie and Jeff. Rhodes taking Goodwin out was just nice. Rhodes trying to reassure Will that he hadn't screwed up was a long way from their S1 interactions.

Liking Jeff and Manning but something tells me they'll encounter a big hiccup. I'm wondering who he'll get paired up with if that happens.

I admit I came for CD as a fan of his from Arrow, but I surprisingly like all the characters and root for them. They feel like supportive colleagues and I like that the hospital isn't a toxic workplace.
