Oops. By 7:30 we're back on the David Ignatius rehab tour. His Washington "friends" must be shunning him.

Peter Baker's there to add his expertise 😂

You know what Harry Truman said about this. You want a friend in Washington DC, get a dog.

Problem with that, David, is dogs are even better than humans when sensing a person is an asshole.  Maybe he should get a rat. Or a snake.

I didn't catch much of the show today, but I did hear Joe mention that Trump supposedly incriminated himself during his MTP interview yesterday. Other than that, did anyone on the panel have the courage to address what an overall failure that interview was?

Although I wasn't surprised that didn't talk about the MTP dumpster fire I think Joe was given stern orders from TPTB not to go there

Chris Matthews is so oblivious it's obnoxious. He never stops talking. I was in and out of the room and unloading this dishwasher etc and he was talking all the time no matter what. I was trying to picture Katty Kay or something else just never shutting up and I came up blank. The other guests and guest-hosts (like Katty) get a couple of paragraphs worth of speaking time max! He needs a hook to pull him off the show.

ETA: ok I kind of regret this comment, in light of all the other garbage going on recently...ie David Ignacious, I am so thoroughly disgusted! There's more but I think I've blocked it out.

The logistics of this show never fail to disappoint. Stumbled on the Secretary of State's interview live on set with everyone but the Scarboroughs...who zoomed in at the end from their cozy nook to thank him for his lecture at the Brz family foundation or whatever. Why on earth couldn't they have taken some time to get to NYC for the annual UN hoopla? Hell, Joe goes "on assignment" to putz around with Tyler Perry...but can't be bothered to put any effort into such a huge global function? I always, always regret stopping by this show for more than a minute.

Zooming in to cut off Andrea Mitchell who was trying to take over the interview!

For some reason the network cannot bring itself to do an overhaul or reign in some regular hosts. Joe included; someone needs to play the “snap out of it” role with him.  As soon as I saw Andrea M….I was out.

Can you imagine Joe & Chris Matthews being co-hosts of a show?

Both of them would try and out-talk each other.

There were rumours that Joe would give a speech at the UN assembly this week, given his numerous connections with world leaders. However, the UN would not pay for a private jet for Mika & Joe to get to NYC so they politely declined.

I thought I heard Joe was going to be considered for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, even tho he never served in the military. Viewers as well as all members of the five branches of the military love his screeching like a banshee about Tommy Tuberville, mostly because it's distracted Joe so much he forgets about Trump for a couple minutes. Joe is taking credit for Tommy breaking and allowing a couple promotions to be voted on by the Senate.

Joe knows about military families, weaponry, planning secret missions, being a Navy SEAL, etc. When Mika goes scarf shopping, he plays Call of Duty and watches reruns of Seal Team and Army Wives.

I'm wondering who loaded the teleprompter this morning.

After Michelle Norris' segment, Mika said, "coming up live in the studio, former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice".  Which seemed kind of odd, but then what do I know.

And then after the break, lo and behold, there was former Secretary of State John Kerry sitting at the table.

Joe is happy that a new poll in NH shows Biden leading Trump by 12%. Joe said viewers should know that voters in suburbs that voted for Biden in 2020 won't switch to Trump. Joe said Democrats should be bedwetters over any national polls.

Joe said Zelensky should say Thank You for weapons from allies.

Joe defended Poland for saving millions of refugees when the war started.

Mika was upset that Poland was stopping weapons shipments during the election campaign. Farmers don't want Ukraine grain.

Mika's lucky. She doesn't have to use her brain at work.

So they show up for Kerry but not Blinken?

Why doesn’t Mika just sit in Joe’s lap? She’s leaning so far towards him this morning that it’s a miracle her chair doesn’t tip over.

I watched that segment.  The look on her face.  Smug like she's won something.  So odd.
But yeah, she was leaning way over towards Joe, like at a 45' angle.  I think that her body language suggests she's leaning AWAY from Sec Kerry, thus deferring all incoming comments to Joe to handle.  "He's mine, he'll handle it."  Not great optics, girl.

OTOH, her color today was great.  Her makeup and bronze highlights and hair style today were about as good as it can get, and her outfit fit her and was appropriately sophisticated.  She looked like a million bucks.   In fact my wife said, "Her makeup and highlights are great today.  Her outfit is flattering.  She looks like a million bucks.  ...  Why is she leaning over onto Joe like that?"

I tried a little of Friday's show, bc I saw they were in studio. the box show is not for me anymore  but I always loved the real studio version of the show.

I've kinda reconciled that so for me I'm not gonna watch the remote shows but I will watch the real ones

but despite being in studio it was sad bc it was dark and weird and they were doing the whole women being quiet all and all invisible all over again. Mika not talking  at all. Willie not even there etc.

I did enjoy the John Kerry segment but they could've benefited from a real climate scientist. What always frustrates me about this show is they scrape the surface intellectually but never give us any real depth, it's always so rushed and so waffly

but of course the whole thing was worth it just to see Barnicle looking his cute self, aggh. And Admiral Themistocles!!

Scarborough is flawed and he makes me angry sometimes.   But his welcome perspective on yesterday's ABC/Washington Post Poll -- which has Biden trailing Trump by 10 points -- was a perfect example of why I continue to listen to the guy.

Meanwhile, I canceled my years-long subscription to the Washington Post.

Joe said that the Biden administration has to stop promoting Bidenomics and focus on criticizing Trump. However, Joe spent the summer telling viewers that the economy was doing well & Biden should promote his accomplishments.

Joe should try to remember his talking points from a few months ago.

Joe did make a good point that Biden has been underestimated since the early 2020 primaries.

Joe doesn't believe the Washington Post poll showing Trump ahead by 10 points. He called the Democrats bedwetters.

Mika said that Morning Joe was working on getting the makers of Depends underwear to sponsor Morning Joe since many of their viewers get nervous about polls.

Mika wants Democrats to get behind Joe Biden. She said Trump didn't work very hard when he was President.

Joe is mad at Trump for not supporting Mark Milley. Milley wanted to warn China in case Trump decided to use military action against China.

There was a brief mention of Senator Menendez being indicted for bribery.

I love how they side step anything that has to do with the network.

Last week it was MTP. Although today they criticized the press for they poor way in general Trump is covered by the media.

Today it's hands off Menendez probably because Alicia Menendez's job is in limbo. I'm sure since they already followed CNN down the rabbit hole once they may not want to do it again

Yesterday Mika was wringing her hands, rhetorically questioning why media outlets keep platforming Trump and allowing him to run amuck spouting lies and talking over the interviewers.

Does Mika know Meet The Press is part of NBC?

It seems natural now to question how Alicia Menendez landed that job in the first place.  In general she leaves little or no impression and her severe blunt cut is not easy on the eyes, IMO.

Heck does Mika remember the 2016 election and how they let Trump come on or call in whenever he felt like it, say whatever he wanted and they laughed and joked and Mika ruffled his hair and it was all fun and games til January 2017.

People laugh about how politicians lie about something and forget they said the original statement that they're now lying about directly into a camera .

Same could be said for these two.  I mean, I remember things I did several decades ago, it shouldn't be so hard for them to remember 6-7 years ago. Also, there is video of every episode they did back then, editorials and columns in all types of newspapers/news magazines about what a couple of clowns they were, kissing Trump's ass and thinking it was soooo funny.

Maybe they have breathed in too many boat varnish fumes?

Joe went on a long rant today against the Biden campaign for not fighting harder against Trump. Joe said when he was campaigning to be reelected to Congress, the Democrats accused Joe of cutting Medicare. Joe replied that he was only proposing to slow the growth of medicare payments to prevent the fund from going bankrupt. Joe said he won all the debates against his opponents, and no one opposed him again when he ran in 1998 and 2000. Mika beamed at Joe after he told his story.

Will the Biden campaign listen to Joe?

Mika & Joe mocked Senator Menendez for accepting cash bribes and gold bars.

I doubt his daughter would appreciate Mika and Joe teasing her dad.

Joe has never believed the old adage "never interfere when your enemy is making a mistake".  Probably because it's attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte, and  not to Joe.

Joe doesn't like it when people say things that contradict his "genius", aka tell him he's full of shit.

I would love it if just one of his former opponents…an aide…speechwriter…or especially a campaign manager…wrote an article about what it was really like “back when” Joe was in Congress.

There are photos & short video clips of them at Joe's congressional museum in Pensacola Florida. It's a popular tourist attraction.

Here is a transcript from Joe's opening rant.

I can remember a bit of the glory days what with Mr. Kemper and I living in the DC area; politics were sometimes local news.  From what he has said, he was riding high with Newt G. The first time I remember seeing him and hearing of him was when he had “Scarborough Country”. But to give him credit - he worked at shaping his image and agenda. And here we are.

Joe that was 25 fing years ago!! !

politics has changed, governing has changed. He’s not an historian.

During the 2020 Presidential campaign, Joe said Biden should get out of his basement and do more retail campaigning & knocking on doors to get votes. It was a risky strategy for a Presidential candidate to go door-knocking with the Secret Service

I am surprised that Joe wasn't on the DC news every night. Joe said he forced Newt & Clinton to balance the budget.

Back in Joe's glory days, he followed Newt's lead.

Joe still believes being a loud mouthed asshole is the key to success. If he yells long enough and loud enough, people will concede to him.  What he doesn't understand is that he is acting like a toddler, and when toddlers throw a fit, adults just let  them wear themselves out with the theatrics, put them in a time out or to bed, and go about our day.

Don't think people's silence is an indication they agree with you, Joe. You just aren't worth the trouble of pointing out how wrong and idiotic you are. at

Edited to add: I just saw that Sandy Hook Promise ad featuring the stand up comedians. I wasn't paying attention to Willie introducing it, I just happened to look up when I saw Billy Eichner and I had no idea what it was.

Talk about a gut punch.  I do not know how anyone who lost a child to a school shooting has the strength to get out of bed every day, let alone keep fighting like the Sandy Hook parents have.

Can't wait to see at what point Mika says "Know Your Value" during the Cassidy Hutchinson interview.

I believe Alicia Menendez worked for Christiane Amanpour for years. I think she paid her dues from what it sounds like.

She must be so PO'd at her dad!
