Oh please, Joe and most of the panel (except Barnacle) are talking as if the Iowa poll represents the entire country. It's Iowa for cripes sakes not a nationwide poll. The poll shows Romney ahead at 17 percent with Jeb Bush at only four percent. Joe starts in on how right (as in correct) Romney was in 2012 about the Muslim extremists and Russia blah, blah, blah and he should be running. I just wish the panel could make the distinction between one state's poll without declaring Mitt the presumptive winner across the country.

Oh yeah, according to Joe, the Democratics are on the run. He's declaring historic defeats in the House. Ahem, just last week he was saying the Republicans were going to lose. I wonder if it's possible for MJ to have a discussion without making a pronouncement on who is going to win? I wish someone could edit together Joe's pronouncements from just the last two weeks. Talk about wishy washy. Joe has nothing on Romney in that category.

Dr. Nancy is a piece of work. From what I've read she was in the back seat of her car with another "team" member while another member of the quarantine crew ran in to pick up the take out order. Her fake apology was that she was sorry that people got upset...not that they violated quarantine. She took no personal responsibility referring only to "some" members of the team violated the voluntary quarantine. NBC should be ashamed for reporting and reading her statement. It's clear that the CDC isn't exactly sure how this virus is slipping past their protocols but Dr. Nancy thinks it's fine to reassure the public that they have no symptoms so everything is FINE.

I feel very sorry for the restaurant workers and patrons that will be filled with fear (right or wrong) and I've gotta believe that business will suffer since the name and location of the restaurant is being widely reported.

NBC fire her ass!

This has always been the problem I have had with doctors who go on to become celebrities.  They really start to believe their own press and that they have been endowed with special powers because they have a segment on a TV news program or because Oprah has touted them as the greatest thing since pizza and beer.  It's gratifying that like Dr. Oz, she is being called out on her self-aggrandizing quackery.  It doesn't take a medical degree to know that even if a person is asymptomatic, she can still carry the virus which has an incubation period.  Like someone really wants her germs!

This shit again!  Joe--there was a reason that voters across the country rejected Mitt Romney, who would have surrounded himself with the same reactionary right-wing idiots who got us into Iraq in the first place, which ultimately led to the destabilization of the region.  I won't even touch on the fact that this guy is a serial liar, supremely arrogant and simply can't be trusted.  Just once I would appreciate it if people asked those Iowa voters this crucial question:  If we were to commit to ground troops in Syria and Russia, are you willing to have your taxes raised to pay for these never-ending military ventures?

One would think that after the debacle in 2012 (for the GOP, that is) that they would be hesitant about jumping on whatever poll happens to give them the results they want to hear.  I guess their devastation on election night 2012 is a distant memory.  I've lost count of the number of times corporate media and professional pollsters have written President Obama's political obituary only to wind up with egg on their faces.  Just like before, these pollsters use terms such as "57% of Americans disapprove of the job President Obama is doing to fight ISIS and want ground troops."  I sure would like to know who these people are because no one sure as hell asked me want wanted.  Yet, what they won't tell you is that 1000 people were actually polled; that the wording of the questions was subjective depending on the result the pollsters wanted (i.e., Wall Street Journal/NBC, etc.); or the party affiliation, age demographic or racial makeup of those being polled.  This is exactly how Gallup got into trouble and had their credibility shot especially when Romney and his supporters (including Joe) relied heavily on polls that indicated he would sail to victory.  No one took into consideration early voters (who typically lean Democratic), the Obama campaign's ground game, or those pesky "urban voters" the GOP has been trying to suppress.  It would be refreshing if just once when journalists trot out these poll numbers they would use phrasing such as, "out of 1000 people polled, 57% of them said..." instead of making it seem as if that 57% spoke for all Americans.  Not once has anyone ever contacted me or anyone I know to ask us what we think!  Heck, even Family Feud uses the phrase, "out of 100 people surveyed, X number of people said..."

Joe wants a certain result and has repeatedly shown that he will embrace any poll numbers that validate what he wants to hear.

One of my favorite authors is Tim O'Brien, who wrote a fictionalized account of his service in Vietnam called "The Things They Carried." His best quote on the topic: "If you support a war...GO."

Agreed. The panel & Joe have to stop getting hyper over every poll that comes to their attention. They don't check the poll's credibility etc.

I think they have become lazy as the show goes on by relying on the friends they meet at cocktail parties for their research.

Just...WOW about Dr. Snyderman violating quaratine, I have beyond lost all respect for that woman.  NBC had better fire her ass.  She couldn't eat peanut butter sandwiches for the week?  Is obeying quarantine only for the little people?  I can't see how she can ever be taken seriously again.  I'm a nurse FWIW, and I feel absolute contempt for her.  For sure Morning Joe isn't making Ebola front of and center because of their employee's arrogance and stupidity.  Despicable.

Just want to say thanks, we're on the front lines and PPE is hardly failsafe.  Do people comprehend how miniscule germs are?  Better keep a lucky rabbit's foot in your pocket as well.

Not all viruses behave the same and years of peer reviewed scientific testing on the ebola virus shows that it is NOT transmittable to others if the person is asymptomatic. Nancy Sniderman may have acted unprofessionally but unless someone was being vomited or shat upon or some such thing by her, she wasn't infecting anyone with the ebola virus. It is only spread by bodily fluids and I doubt Sniderman was passing any of hers around when she picked up the sandwich.

The amount of misinformation and crazy lies being thrown around by Joe and all the rest of the media is just nuts and the panic and fear they're causing is shameful.

Cackles is back today & she is feisty. cackles was arguing with the medical specialist about not being prepared for ebola. cakles said she saw the movie outbreak from 1995 & this is a likely scenario. The medical specialist told her not to believe everything in hollywood movies.

Mika is upset that the orioles lost.

Joe is awol.

Today is classic morning joe.

Cackles is now on a rampage against ratner. Ratner is talking about Katrina. Cackles is afraid of ebola.

ratner said mistakes were made but its getting better. Mika says is this hysteria. The medical lady said yes.

More work needs to be done according to dr snead.

The medical expert, and Steve Rattner, both put Cackles down with surgical precision and made her look like such a fool.

OMGF, Cackles has got to be the most stunningly ignorant human being on the face of the planet: "It's just like the movie Outbreak! That was Ebola too! It gets spread exactly the same way!"

The medical expert was so flabbergasted by her stupidity she could barely pull herself together to respond.

Cackles made me roll my eyes when she criticized the administration for "no one could have imagined this!" and "it was in the movie Outbreak".  I seem to remember the administration she worked for saying "no one could have imagined planes flying into buildings"  after Tom Clancy wrote a book with that exact scenario.  Way to throw stones from glass houses Nicole!

To quote my home team quarterback, everyone needs to R-E-L-A-X!  We have had one person die from Ebola who came from west Africa and was turned away at the ER initially.  The only other people who are infected are two of his nurses who were in direct contact with his bodily fluids.  We have had no airborne transmissions.  As long as hospitals receive and follow the proper protocols, this will not turn into some movie-like pandemic.  Mika and Cackles are inciting panic with no scientific facts to back it up.

I am so glad the doctor from PBS was there to be the voice of reason this morning.  I loved her comment about how people comparing this to the movie "Oubreak" should stick to Netflix.

I am completely befuddled that Mika and Cackles say the Ebola crisis is getting worse EVERYDAY. The Dallas Hospital has completely screwed the pooch by lying about the protective gear worn by the medical staff. For god's sake they turned this guy away from the ER which I believe more than likely led to his death and this is the fault of the White House? I will admit that whoever from the CDC told the nurse "to not, not fly" when she had an elevated temp should be fired along with whoever is spinning lies at the Dallas hospital.

My heart goes out to the nurses who are now sick and those who were exposed because they did not have the right kind of protective gear (as I understand it their neck was exposed and they did not have goggles). I was beginning to doubt the transmission route (bodily fluids) because the hospital assured us that they had the right gear and they took it off wrongly (is wrongly even a word?). I believe the growing hysteria is a direct result of the lies told by the hospital. I'm adding hospital administrator, CDC person that didn't stop the nurse from flying, and Dr. Nancy that should be fired.

I loved Steve Ratner's come back to Cackles when she was trying to pin it on President Obama and said she was more then willing to re-litigate Katrina because they had someone in charge two weeks after Katrina and Steve said "You're doing a great job Brownie"? Priceless. Together, Mika and Cackles upped the hysteria factor instead of listening to the facts. Cackles frame of reference being the movie "Outbreak" would be laughable if people were not dying. And just so you know Cackles the movie was not about Ebola as it was transmitted through the air and a slight tear in the protective gear was a death sentence.

I don't care who is in charge if the hospital doesn't have the right equipment and then lies about it that is going to create hysteria. I think the nurses were so brave to come out yesterday and expose the lies told by the hospital. I can't imagine how scary it is for the nurses to treat the two nurse patients but God love them, they are. I find it horrifying that these two nurses are being treated at this same crummy hospital. I'm glad the CDC has sent in a team with the proper equipment.

Edited to add that I was wrong and that the second nurse was thankfully transferred to a hospital in Atlanta.

When it comes to Cackles and being stunningly ignorant, I just have two words:  "Sarah" and "Palin."

I'll have a sip of tea now while I ponder on that for a moment...

Excellent points!  I guess I'm just hypersensitive because I work everyday in a law office with people, who I know personally don't wash their hands after using the restroom, sneeze and cough into those same hands and then want to shake people's hands or kiss them upon greeting them.  And, mind you, these are the very same people whose feelings are hurt because their homemade dishes go untouched when we have potluck.

What's scary is that The Today Show presented Dr. Oz this morning to give his opinion regarding the nurse's statements about the horrifying conditions at that Dallas hospital.  One would think that after that quack had been discredited, he would be the last person that anyone would call to give his opinion about anything beyond the cost of cough syrups.

The hospital spinning doesn't surprise me in the least. It's the human factor.

Germs don't bother me. I've worked at wastewater treatment plants and know that every plant has a different smell. If you walk by one of the open basins, you are breathing in aerated poop water. After the first year, the people working at the WWTPs don't get sick anymore. They have also learned not to touch their lips or eyes until after they wash their hands. :)

Bodily fluids - does that mean the guy was puking and pooping all over the place or bleeding?

Cackles is back. Oy. Isn't one hour a day enough for poor viewers.

stafford, I'm with you except for one thing.

I don't see how the CDC employee can be blamed for the nurse that got on the plane.

What did she say when she called the CDC other than that she had a low-grade temp?

Did she tell them I'm a nurse, I work at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital, I cared for Eric Duncan the man that died of ebola.

She's a nurse, she should have know better, IMO.

And why is no one on MJ questioning Rick Perry. He's incompetent.

Link to comment
I was beginning to doubt the transmission route (bodily fluids) because the hospital assured us that they had the right gear and they took it off wrongly (is wrongly even a word?).

It has now come out that the patient wasn't put into isolation immediately and was in a ward with seven other people for hours and both of the nurses treated him while he was there. They're leaning towards that being the point of infection, not a problem that may have occurred with the protective gear. If anything, that just proves even more that ebola is not easily spread because none of those seven other patients have come down with it even though those same nurses were probably treating them at the same time.

Plus there is also the fact that Duncan's family haven't acquired the disease either (their quarantine is up in two days) even though they were living with the guy and sharing facilities and cooking utensils and whatnot. I think there's a good chance that Duncan and his fiance ~ahem~ shared bodily fluids a time or too as well. It should relieve the fears of the good people of Akron, Ohio that ebola is not running rampant in their city even though the media has ramped up the hysteria about the nurse flying there. Shouldn't it be the media's and MJ's responsibility to tamp down the panic, not contribute to it?

Edited to add that I was wrong and that the second nurse was thankfully transferred to a hospital in Atlanta.

The first nurse is being transferred today to a specialized center in Maryland too.

With Ebola, it's all of the above. It's a nasty, nasty way to die.

If I'm not mistaken, while the patient is still in the stage of puking and pooping, they can be treated but if the blood vessels start disintegrating from the virus and they start bleeding from all their orifices, there's not much hope.

YES. Shepard Smith on FOX News, of all networks, delivered a stinging rebuke to all the Ebola-mongerers out there. We need more of that, not Mika and Cackles and their fevered Hollywood dreams.

I want to apologize for I fear that I've been hyping up the hysteria and looking for those to blame. I am relieved to hear that it wasn't the faulty protective gear to blame (although not instituting isolation immediately seems to have been a huge error). I just don't understand why the public is getting this information in dribs and drabs. The story seems to change daily which leads to mistrust and fear.

I hope to god that both nurses recover and I'm relieved they both have been transferred to other facilities.

I worry that the media and MJ are hyping the hysteria to garner better ratings. It's so irresponsible.

I heard even worse on the Dr. Nancy (blech!) incident.  An article indicated she was driving the get-away (lol) car, hair pulled back, wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap - entitled b**.  Everyone know she's a good bud of Hilary's from the AK days?  IIRC, she did residency down there or something.

Haven't ever watched even 5 minutes of "The View" but took a quick gander of their thread.  They're giving Miss Nicole a giant pass, talking about how she's new at this TV game.  Huh?  Hasn't she been on MJ for at least several years plus other programs, starting at least by '08?

And, they titled her thread something along the lines of "Nicole, she hates Palin" and constantly give her props for that.  Does my memory serve me incorrectly  - thought she liked SP until the Katie Couric interview??  Didn't they have a falling out b/c SP accused her of failing to properly prep her for Couric?  It's always kinda' turned me off the way Nicole proudly proclaims that she didn't even vote for her boss, McCain.  I believed JM would be an atrocious president and the thought of SP a heartbeat away but so much for loyalty, huh?

In any event, isn't Nicole's MSNBC expired, yet ???

Anyone ever see the commercial that showed how far a simple sneeze sprays? And it is a bodily fluid. I've not seen any article or show reference that. Just other bodily fluids.

OTOH, I feel safe...but very concerned for the nurses and their families and friends and all the people they have come in contact with.

And just who were Sniederman's companions?

I feel very badly for the restaurant. No reason for this to be put on them. Their reviews are fantastic...or were, at this point in time.

But ebola doesn't cause sneezing. Of course anyone can sneeze if pepper is sprinkled on them or something but ebola isn't a flu like virus and sneezing isn't one of the symptoms.

Dr Joe Scarborough was on the show today in an undisclosed location. Mika is in Washington.

Joe was crowing that he was right about wanting travel restrictions from Africa. Mika agreed wit Joe that he was right on Meet the Press.

Joe said liberals were wrong to trust the health agencies about Ebola.

Obama may want a Ebola czar.

Mika said the one patient from Libria has created chaos.

FDA guidelines prevented the use of the ebola diagnostic machine, so the texas hospital couldn't help the patient.

new polls show gop ahead in Colorado.

Mika wondered if Ebola could help the GOP because the white house hasn't handled the ebola issue well.

Joe read more polls from his iphone.

Joe continues to rant when the wsj correspondent said people could go to several countries before coming to the USA so the ban would not work.

Joe exploded & said you could check the passport to see where people were before they arrived in the usa.

Joe is mad at people blogging in their basements & sending him nasty comments..

Sam stein said the usa would be helped by the travel ban, but people in sierra leone would panic.

Joe mocked sam stein & said he was like a bad pitcher from the cardinals.

Joe said we could trace ebola patient like terrorists.

Mika continues to stroke joe's ego by saying how right he was! Mika must miss Joe be away from him for a few shows.

there wa also a segment with Mika interviewing congressman Sean Duffy, his wife ( both from the real world) & their 7th child Margarita. Margarita spent most of the interview holding the baby in the air.

Mika was so happy to be playing with the baby. She told the Duffy's that they should stop having kids.

Throughout the show, every guest that came on got questioned by Joe about their support for the Ebola travel ban.

Every few weeks , Joe comes up with a new pet project. It was "camera on cops" as the solution to the Ferguson shooting,Roger Goodell's firing as the solution to the NFL players violence , kicking Turkey out of NATO.

Joe also started shouting at Chuck Todd again because Todd tried to explain Obama's refusal to impose a travel ban .

Joe said the governor of a region of Siera Leone has a travel ban so why is Obama afraid to impose one.

Joe sais Obama is being politically correct about the ban.

Chuck Todd was worried that the democrats could lose votes to the republicans over Obama's ebola strategy.

I think Joe is aware of the ratings. He has tried doing a scripted morning rant at the beginning of each show. He has also tried to be more supportive of Obama's policies. He also tries ranting about topics he doesn't normally care about like the domestic violence in the NFL. His boycott of watching NFL games has not attracted as much media attention that he would have liked. They have a few new regular guests like Roland Martin.

Joe is also a contributor on Meet the Press as Dr. Scarborough:))

Mika is busy hosting events in the evening & working another book. In the event the show gets cancelled ,

she could try & reposition herself as an expert on women's issues & nutrition.

A few years ago they were working on a tv pilot about interns in Washington but no network picked it up.

Joe is worse then a schmuk he's a fear monger still smarting from David Axlerod's take down of him two weeks ago on Meet the Press about Ebola. Bill Kristol and Joe are stroking each other's egos by decrying how poorly the "Administration" has handled this crisis (said over and over). You see it's the Administration's fault that the Texas hospital didn't know how to handle Ebola and Congress cutting back the NIH and CDC funding cannot be a reason why they were unprepared because (don't you know) the President could have gone to Congress to stop irrelevant "studies" like the effects of second hand smoke for electronic cigarettes and transferred funding to Ebola. Hey Joe and Bill has congress done anything for the past six years except shut down the government and cut funding by 25 percent for Ebola vaccination research? joe said that's a conversation for later, not while we are in the midst of this CRISIS of total government incompetence. Seriously?

Dorian Warren reminded them that only two people have caught the virus but Kristol implies that we have reason to expect that maybe we really don't know how it's transmitted. Warren said "yes we do know...there is science behind it" only to be scoffed at because there is a political gain for the Republicans to tear down anything the President has done and blame him for a hospital fucking up. Joe got all bloviated and shouty that Obama is going to be judged so harshly on his actions in years to come. Warren said that Joe was wrong and that he would fly to Vegas to put down a bet that Obama was going to be remembered as a transformative President. It was so refreshing to hear Dorian be so sure and positive about the President and not dither about his beliefs (I'm looking at you Harold Ford and Mika).

Warren also said thousands die each year from the flu and maybe we should care about solving that problem. Kristol's response (well non-response) was why we are allowing people from West Africa visa's into the United States? I swear if Ebola broke out in a Western country and not Africa, Kristol would be singing a different tune. They talk about this poor man, who died, as if he were garbage. I know it's hard for Kristol and Joe to believe but this man was flying to the U.S. to see his son graduate from High School not to get out of West Africa and purposely infect the U.S.

I swear joe sees blood in the mid-term election waters and is salivating over the Republicans taking control of Congress so everything is gross government incompetence (read: Democrats are to blame). We have an Ebolo crisis even though it appears as if there will not be a huge outbreak of Ebolo in the U.S.

I hope to god that Mitt Romney runs and gets the nomination. How much fun would that be to watch him lose again?

Joe wants Colin powell to be the ebola czar.

Ya know something? I am so heartily sick of Republicans and their distorted, rose-colored, myopic view of the past.

Colin Powell? The guy who went in front of the United Nations and sold them the Iraq war based on shoddy, trumped-up, outright falsified "evidence"? He is the last person to galvanize an international response to this crisis. He (and Bill Kristol, for that matter) should just get off the world stage entirely, crawl into a hole together, and cower in shame thinking of all the dead people they and their policies are responsible for.

Joe can stick a sock in his Colin Powell worship.

Makes one wonder, how many are like me - totally dissatisfied with Obama on the left.  I never caught on to the Obama movement because I saw it as a smarter marketing strategy and not a better candidate.  Obama disappoints me almost daily.  Do polls capture that nuance?

I think Joe is aware of the ratings. He has tried doing a scripted morning rant at the beginning of each show. He has also tried to be more supportive of Obama's policies. He also tries ranting about topics he doesn't normally care about like the domestic violence in the NFL. His boycott of watching NFL games has not attracted as much media attention that he would have liked. They have a few new regular guests like Roland Martin.

When Joe was obviously lobbying for the MTP spot, he was trying to sound as moderate in tone as possible...why he almost seemed...human!  The operative word is "seemed."  But, narcissism is a personality disorder and one can only tamp down on it but for so long before he reveals his true face for all to see.  I mean, were people really fooled by all that moderate talk and attempt to appear non-partisan?  He could only keep the gig up for so long before he resorted back the bloviating, shouting over others and outright attacking those who don't agree with him.  As an added bonus, he demeans his co-host--something he never actually stopped doing.

I remember that smelling-blood-in-the-water shtick of his when Romney "won" the first presidential debate.  His crowing that he was "right" about Ebola is pitiful but quite typical.  Did his "friends in Liberia" tell him what's going to happen next?  And, I'm sorry, but is Ebola really a political issue--instead of a health crisis--now?  Are people really that disgusting?

Agreed. I think his outbursts on MTP & show that he clearly hasn't gotten over the Dr. Scarborough label.

He is not suited to be a "senior political analyst" on a serious show like MTP.

Joe got mad at Mika today when she grimaced at one of his comments. He told Mika to stop grimacing so she started smiling at him.

Mika tried to cheer him up by saying that she watched part of the Alabama football game.

Lordy, today seemed to be Monica Lewinsli Day on MJ. Mika is a big fan and thinks she has a lot to say about cyber-bullying. Except it really wasn't cyber-bullying but the media that went after Monica. Hell, social media hadn't been invented back then. As Mika said Monica is the first real person that exploded on the Internet which is so wrong but hey, never let the facts get in the way of an emotional story that Mika can champion. The affair was in 1998 and Facebook wasn't invented until 2004 and there it was limited access until 2006.

Mika proclaimed that Monica's life was ruined and she kept mostly quiet. Although my limited research shows that after the press of the affair Monica subsequently engaged in a variety of ventures including designing a line of handbags under her name, being an advertising spokesperson for a diet plan, working as a television personality, and finally moving to London to pursue a master's degree in psychology. I don't think she was "quiet" but rather unsuccessful in her many ventures trading on her name. Don't get me wrong I think Bill Clinton was a pig about the affair and yes, Monica was only 22 at the time but please don't assign her sainthood status because she was a victim of cyber-bullying. Media bullying, yes.

I have been thinking the exact same thing and was really afraid I was not remembering the situation correctly and being too harsh.

First of all, Monica alledgedly had an active role in pursuing the President.  IIRC, she pulled the waist band of her skirt down to show him the top of her thong.   Should the President at that moment have called either Betty Curry or his Secret Service detail and had her fired and escorted out of the White House?  Hell yes.  But he didn't.   He's as slimy as they come.

And she should have known better in the first place.   I too made mistakes when I was her age, but I am sure I would have known better than to flirt with the President of the United States, even if he had the charm of George Clooney and looked like Channing Tatum.   If anything, have some fucking respect for the office.

And comparing herself to Tyler Clementi is an insult to what Tyler went through and his memory.  Her participation in an affair with the President of the United States pretty much guaranteed her a life of public scrutiny and humiliation.

Geesh even Gayle King was calling Monica a hero this morning. "So brave....."

Yeah, kiss her ass so you can hook a big interview with her. No one can possibly see thru your bullshit.

STFU

I have to disagree. I feel sorry for Monica Lewinsky and I always have. She did something incredibly dumb when she was 22 and the vitriol that was heaped upon her was way out of proportion to what she deserved.

I don't disagree that she was decried and made fun of on SNL and the press. Yes she was a dumb 22 year old and I put the blame on Bill Clinton. I just don't understand why we have to relitigate the whole affair because she is once again putting herself out there and yes, trading on her name. I would rather hope she she find a real job (I don't know maybe she has one) rather then using the media to promote her "expertise". If it were me, I would want to move past the affair and do other work scaled to keep my/her life private. I can't help but believe she is still looking for her big pay day and tons of media exposure (in her cases I guess it's the devil you know). Can't anyone work at a 40 hour a week job anymore?

I also worry that the term "bullying" is losing its effectiveness as its used rather indiscriminately (and why all the panelist seem to blame the girls with little mention of the boys today was beyond me). Don't get me wrong the vitriol spewed on social media is horrible. The comments section of any website seems to bring out the bottom feeders that hide behind fake names. So tell me why is Ms. Lewinski now the expert and deserving of our attention and with what's sure to be turned into a book deal coming sooner rather ten later?

I don't know the whole thing seems just a little off. As Michael Douglas said in "The American President"...It's time for serious answers to serious problems (or something to that effect) not a media frenzy.
