Survivor In The Media

Didn't see this mentioned but Ryan and Noelle were on Raid The Cage a couple weeks ago:

https://parade.com/tv/cbs-raid-the-cage-amazing-race-scott-lori-thompson-survivor-noelle-lambert-ryan-medrano

I did not know Ryan was a paralympian and honestly, don't even remember him on the show.

I won't spoil it for anyone who wants to watch but Noelle probably yelled "Let's go!" about a thousand times during the one hour show. I hate that phrase.

Survivor host Jeff Probst explains why show stopped doing schoolyard picks to determine tribes
It's been 31 seasons and counting.
By Dalton Ross   March 6, 2025
https://ew.com/survivor-jeff-probst-why-show-stopped-schoolyard-picks-11691638

  Quote

“I like this question because schoolyard picks are fun,” Probst says on the podcast. “But they are super risky because you are relying on the players to self-divide into somewhat even tribes.”
*  *  *
“From that standpoint, as a producer, it's a bit terrifying to start a season that way,” Probst says. “And so you have to ask yourself: Okay, let's look at our own risk versus reward here. What do we get from starting a season that way? Well, it's a fun opening beat. What do we risk from starting a season that way? We could get terribly lopsided tribes.”

And Probst already anticipates what some fans would say to that. “On the other hand, I know what you're thinking: We don't always do a good job of picking tribes ourselves. And we spend a lot of time analyzing the data — the IQ, the strength, the age, their puzzle ability. And we're looking at all different types of tribe formations and we still get it wrong.”
*  *  *
At this point, cohost Jay Wolff cuts in, asking, “So what I hear you saying is there is a chance we could see a schoolyard pick for tribes.” And while Probst responds, “There is a chance, yes” — the fact that he is laughing while saying it, coupled with 31 seasons of history speaking otherwise, tells us not to hold our collective breath.

I had a feeling that they probably figured Star’s clue out but chose not to tell her.  I couldn’t believe it was taking this long for them to figure it out when the other tribes seemed to find their idols no problem.  It sucks she had to wind up with that group.  Not sure what her chances are with the new group since Eva still wants her out but I’m hoping David swings it to Charity.

Just saw a very short promo for Survivor during one of the NCAA tournament games.  It starts with a voiceover (I can’t tell which female it is) saying “Just take your time.”  Words then come across the screen saying “there has never been a moment like this” and it cuts to a very emotional Jeff in the game saying “wow, this has never happened…”

We may be in for a tear jerker this Wednesday.

I guess I should have checked YouTube first but it was a shorter version of this:

I don't know-I thought the episode in which Caleb nearly died was pretty emotional.  And, I'm sure there were other episodes/scenes that were emotional.  Pretty high stakes to claim this is the most emotional episode ever.

For me, the scene where Shauhin, Joe, Kyle, and Kamilla were talking about their backgrounds and the really serious struggles their parents faced was much more emotional and affecting -- and much less manufactured -- than the Eva segment.

ETA: Manufactured by the show, I mean. Of course I believe it was genuine for Eva.
