Post-game poo in our heads:

Can you at least say whether or not it’s Felicity buried under the gravestone?
Mericle: We don’t necessarily know who it is now — we’re figuring out the plan for the season — but we want it, obviously, to have resonance. If it doesn’t mean something to the characters, it won’t mean anything to the audience either.

When will the death happen?
Guggenheim: Six months [from now] in show time.

Can we hope for a Lazarus Pit resurrection?
Mericle: They will stay dead. We want to bring stakes back to the show, and so we’ll be finding a way to handle the Lazarus Pit portion of season 3 in season 4.

It is just frustrating how they keep saying that it will feel organic and make sense.... And there will be a time after this death apparently but I mean usually they are not very good at the whole "We try to keep this a secret". They always do the obvious thing. And in this case the obvious choice is Felicity. Which basically solves a lot of comic book related problems for them. I don't see it being Oliver's kid or the baby mama. Why would anyone care? I doubt it will be Laurel or Thea. Laurel because she is Laurel and Thea already did die. More room for Diggle and Felicity.

I'm seriously in shock over that ending and now I'm dreading the most painful death to watch in this shows history. Seriously if Dig or Felicity dies I'm gonna be a wreck and I will quit this show on the spot espically if it's Felicity cause it's the love of his life and I love Dig but Felicity dying would be the worst.

It will be the dumbest thing they could do I really think a lot of viewers won't watch anymore if it's Dig or Felicity . I'm seriously hoping Time travel gets used

I think it's really weird that they had SA act out being upset over someone's death and they don't even know who it is. Ridiculous, IMO.

That whole flash-forward has left a bitter taste for me personally, especially as we're now gonna have months of speculation. Ugh.

I can't imagine it'll be fun for the actors, either. "Hey guys! One of you will definitely be unemployed by the end of the season! But don't worry, it'll be an elegant send-off."

I still don't think it will be a major death (meaning team Arrow). I just refuse to believe the show wants people not to watch next season. They want to have a season that has some happiness but for the show to remember that sadness is coming. It's just to keep us in fear. I have to believe they learned their lesson with Bringing Sara back. I think we will get another reminder later. Maybe after the introduction of the kid.  I think DD will kill Baby Mama in front of the Boy and get the Boy catatonic. That way they can have consequence for the show, Oliver and not kill a major character(or a kid). I refuse to believe any major death. I refuse to believe anything else. Lalalallalalalallalallalalalallalaallalalalla.......

That's why it's not going to be either of them. But it's going to be annoying as hell having to deal with all the speculation. Stupid writers.

I am positive it is, at least meant to be, Felicity.  They will fix it through time travel or whatever bc they don't want to get canceled, but going there, after the misery porn of S3, just pisses me off.  Thus I am out.  (Not of here, bc y'all are awesome, but of actively watching the show.)

*prays to the gods*

...then again, the did say it would resonate with the audience. I couldn't possibly care less about the spawn.

It would resonate with me if it hurts Oliver.

I think Felicity and Diggle are safe. I would have said Thea as well but I worry they're bringing in Kid No Name to give Oliver a family while killing off Thea. That being said, Oliver was not torn up enough for it to be Thea.

My Deadpool consists of people named Lance.

Can you picture tonight's episode without Diggle or Felicity in it? What a SUCK FEST. I hope they're safe, I really do.

I am really annoyed right now. If it weren't for Sara's resurrection coming up, I swear I would be putting this show in the rear view mirror right now. As it is, I'm going to have to severely limit my fandom time to keep my sanity. The wedding speculation last season was bad enough - that is going to be that to the power of 1000. Damn you TPTB. :(

My money is on Lance, but with these.....people (I'm restraining myself).....you never know.

Ohhhhhhhhhh WHAT IF IT'S OLIVER'S KID OR BABY MAMA

Kind of feel evil typing this, but here's hoping!!!

I guess the first thing I want to know is if there are going to be any time jumps in the show or if it's sticking with real time like in the past (for the most part).  I can handle the constant speculation if this gets "resolved" by the winter hiatus but I will go nuts if this is a season long thing.

MG says this is 6 months of show time, so it seems like we won't find out who it is until close to the end of the season.

And I doubt it's Oliver's kid or his mother - we've only seen the mother for a total of a minute, and never even met the kid. No one would really be all that emotionally invested in either one of them biting it. I think it has to be someone that Oliver would be upset - but not broken - by losing.

Lance. It's Lance.

We don't know Oliver's kid yet but he's still a kid and Stuff that happens to Kids are always emotional (even when it's guest star Kids). Plus we should have a couple of months of time for the show to make Oliver Queen feel for the kid. We're probably get a first glimpse of him going into winter Break.

It's probably Lance.

Though it could always be Donna. I think that would hit the audience in the gut and not be a "major death".

Shocked gasp! You take that back! I will NOT accept adorable whirlwind Donna's death until she is surrounded by a bunch of grandchildren and with a cocktail in hand.

I would be disturbed by the show going there with a kid, but IDK...I don't think it would upset me as much as if someone that I've watched over the past few years died. Depending on who it was. Like, I really wouldn't care if Quentin died. And I don't want it to be Laurel only because I'd like her exit (if there ever is one, which i doubt) to involve her still breathing and just relocating to another city.

I'd generally think this show doesn't have the guts explicitly to kill kids, but they did kill Akio.  But I don't think it'll be Oliver's kid.  Too much misery.  Could be babyMama, but only if the kid goes elsewhere, bc surely they don't want a kid on Arrow full-time.  I reiterate, if fake death (per time travel), it's Felicity, if real death, it's Quentin.

Well perhaps he's really there to comfort a (for now) off screen Felicity? I'm trying to find characters that would affect the audience without being team Arrow. Though it's probably Lance.

Not Donna ... Barry doesn't know Donna and he wouldn't come for the funeral of someone he didn't know, right?

Link to comment

Yeah, they made it so that we can draw literally any conclusion, and can't rule anyone out. I like to take comfort in Barry not being able to miss Felicity's funeral, haha, but I know it's not her. We can't tell who it's for because of his presence, because he's only there for Oliver to have someone to talk to who won't give the death away.

And because the EPs are in total orgiastic lust with their crossovers.

Agreed that Felicity is not for real dead.  This is a tv show, and killing her would kill their ratings.  If it's her, it's fixed.  But if for real, it's Quentin or MAYBE babyMama if they send the kid to his offscreen grandparents.

I don't understand the argument "Felicity is the one that dies because she would've been there"...

But if Felicity is the one that dies, wouldn't the entire team be there? Wouldn't Thea be there to support Oliver? Yeah that's not an argument that's gonna fly tbh

Link to comment

All of them would've been there if it was a team member, but they don't want us to be able to figure out who it is, so who is or isn't there means absolutely nothing. Which is, of course, maddening!

That death's not going to be Felicity because Reverse Flash intimated great things from her in the future (also, I don't think the EPs want the show to be canceled yet). Neither will it be Diggle because no, it's supposed to be the year of Diggle (also, as mentioned in the episode thread, he's the only POC in the cast)! Not Thea, either, because she's been there, done that.

Though it could always be Donna. I think that would hit the audience in the gut and not be a "major death".

I don't want it to be her but I actually think it could be Donna, too. 'Cause her death would resonate with the audience (since she has been so favorably received) and that would be a big blow to Felicity, Oliver, maybe Diggle (Donna seems friendly with the Diggles since she's going to be babysitting baby Sara again in an upcoming episode, noh?), and, possibly, Thea and Laurel if they get to know her some when she comes back. Also, they upped her appearances to a couple more episodes, didn't they? And her death could open the way for Papa Smoak to come into the picture. Barry could've been there because Donna is family to Felicity and will be to Oliver.

But I hope it's Lance. I'm tired of Lance family drama.

I'm trying to get all worked up over the death, but I just can't. I'm more annoyed than anything else. All the months of theories to look forward too. Oh joy. It kind of killed my buzz.

That interview didn't help. How exactly can you talk about a death resonating with the audience and feeling earned if you don't actually know who died? You can't. So they know and they are just being trolly. And after everything I put up with in S3, that seriously ticks me off.

So I'm the only one who thinks they're full of shit not knowing who's dead?

Oh I think they know! for sure they know.

catrox14 and I both speculated on the episode thread that it might actually be Roy who will die, my reasoning is because unlike everyone else (well everyone except buckles- but we sadly know it's not gonna be her) he is expendable for simply no longer being a cast member, but has strong enough emotional ties that his death will greatly impact Oliver, enough to make him want to kill DD.

Also Barry coming to Roy's funeral makes more sense than him showing up for Lance's.

I think they definitely know who's dying and are writing towards it, but that they're still hedging their bets and are willing to change their plan if things aren't working out the way they've planned (i.e. the audience isn't reacting the way they expected).

FWIW, my money is currently on Lance, but I think it's possible it could be someone introduced this season. Like, I'm expecting to enjoy Curtis/Mr. Terrific quite a bit and him dying would probably have an impact on me by the end of the season.

Just dropping by to say that jewish funerals dont include flowers.

Is Guggenheim Jewish?  I only ask to know if he'd know that.  Of course even if he knew, he might not have been the one dressing the set so...  Yeah.  I vote for attempting to not dwell on what happens in six months.  I'm sure we've already mentioned the right name in one of the posts but it's too soon to do anything but randomly speculate on everyone.  There's nothing we can grab on to as "proof"

Sure, DD wants to know who the GA loves but he also warned Quentin to say goodbye to your loved ones.  So death anvils for everyone.

I disagree, the scene was seriously vague enough to be anyone but MM (IMO) and they deliberately didn't show anyone else from the cast so it could be anyone.

I do believe WM/MG when they say that don't know for certain who's grave it is.  I'm sure they have a short list of who they think it's going to be, probably 2-3 names.  I think they'll finalize that decision in December/January when they're planning out the back half.

I also think it's Lance or Laurel.
