Savvy student Solomon attempts to hack the Pentagon and ends up simultaneously being chased by the Chinese government and the House. The bets are in on whether Alex Kane can get to him first to keep him safe. Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson is encountering issues of his own with an old friend and is forced to take drastic measures. Also, new discoveries are made about Ginny's whereabouts.

Oh look!  Another uber-h4x0r who can hack into an air-gapped network.  Typing at 200 wpm into five consoles at once, coding in a hodgepodge of three different languages and so pressed for time that he's carefully inserting verbose comments into his code.

Cassie gets hotter and hotter every episode.  If this keeps up, I will have to stop watching by episode eight.  (Is this show doing well enough to last for eight episodes?  I hope so.  They could cut everyone else and just have Charity Wakefield walk up and down in front of the camera, and I'd watch...)

ETA:  I almost forgot about the dead wife. Prolly because I couldn't care less what happened to her in the past, or what becomes of her in the future.  And a bloody big implication that Mr. Johnson is behind her entire sad story, anyway. Not that I care much, except I hope PW ends up putting a beatdown on WS before the show is cancelled, and the entire yawn-inducing Ginny storyline only serves as a motivation for said beatdown.

I knew there would be a twist, I just didn't care because she was nothing more than just a plot device.

I thought the hacker falling for Cassie was funny (and probably realistic--he found a hot nerd-girl! woohoo!!).  This show is completely ridiculous, but I love it anyway!  They have the non-stop action and over-the-top stunts that Hawaii-Five-O used to have, before they got too tired to continue.

Speaking of H5O, the bad guy last night (Will Yun Lee) plays a recurring villain/anti-hero on that show, and he's one of those actors who I always enjoy when he pops up on a TV show.    I knew he and Wesley Snipes were going to mix it up at the end, but that martial arts fight was a little "tepid", to be honest.

So far, I think Wesley Snipes' character is a bit of a drag on the show, but it'll hopefully get better as we go along.  I liked his "undercover" stunt at the casino.  It was a lot looser and fun, I suddenly remembered why WS was so good in "Major League".

I don't really care about Alex's missing hot wife, or who is holding her.  I'd prefer that Alex simply be The Player because he gets to catch bad guys, and enjoys it; not because he's somehow "forced" to do it.

When you have martial artists as good as Will Yun Lee and Wesley Snipes doing a fight scene togoether, I frankly expect better than what we got. It might not have been a great idea to have them fight in suits. Those pants looked like they were restricting the high kicks.

I do think it's hilarious Will Yun Lee keeps getting cast as non-Korean roles, though.

I think I must have missed a beat somewhere in a previous episode. What is Cassie's interest in Ginny, and why is she investigating her faked death? Are the two of them related?

We don't actually know as yet.  But in an earlier episode we were shown Cassie examining a personal photograph that showed them (Cassie and Not-Dead Wife) together, in a friendly pose.  So Cassie obviously was a friend of, or has past history with NDW, and Alex doesn't know about it.

I'm still watching.

DH and I could not believe out-of-breath, sore-from-last-ep's-wound, almost-hit-by-express-train Alex would get off the flammin' motorcycle so far away from the kid (Solomon?) and his corrupted NSA handler! There were several ways he could have just kept zooming up and potentially at least hurt the agent. Yet we had to have Alex ditch a potential weapon in order for the prolonged running gun-and-martials fight to the helicopter. Which was kicked off by the corrupted NSA agent getting offed himself. Excuse me as I am unimpressed over here.

I liked Alex and Solomon when Alex wasn't a self-important snot. Dude? It wasn't too long ago you were telling Johnson that if you went dark again, you wouldn't come back. Shut it about getting in with the wrong folks. You've been the wrong folks, just help this obviously in-over-his-head kid and save your righteousness for your co-workers.

I did enjoy the hour, it just had some stuff that dimmed the party atmosphere a smidge.  I loved Cassandra this episode. I just wish she'd kept her Cass-self from Solomon, but I understand why she did it. Also, her digs at  Alex's low-tech.  At least Alex appreciates an electric car. *g*

I was surprised that an express train would be allowed to enter a station where an active gun battle is going on.  Guess that's just me, though.

Add me to the disappointed group, wrt the final fight between Mr. Lee and Mr. Snipes. I thought that's why you get gents of that caliber together. Unless budget concerns are super high, then the fight may have been restricted by Wardrobe in more than one sense. Which I understand, but *sigh* the fight we could have had.

I think the show will get to at least eight shows, but I'm actually hoping for a little more.

Yeah the ratings look bad for the show, and that's too bad I like Alex - he's a good blend of pretty/ugly that's realistic.  Like Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan but grittier so far - and not as smart.

Snipes?  eh....but that was a total photo op moment in the bar when he dropped down into a crouch and held it for a moment. The first time I felt like I was watching the hot vampire guy so far.

The kid was adorbs, and so was Cassie.  If the show stays on, she can be my girl crush.

The dead wife thing?  Boring show, boring.  It was fun the kid figured out the numbers during his big adventure, though I knew he would.

I thought Blade was gonna come out.  XD.

Two huge plot problems for me this week.

1. At the surrounded-by-Feds garage: they were able to just DRIVE OUT? Seems to me that a basic part of establishing a perimeter should have included blocking the exits? Park a car in front of the garage door, how hard is that? Or failing that, park one or two where they block the street? Come on!

2. The super hacker kid says "Someone wants you to call": so whoever that is encoded the phone number in a way that Alex does not have the skills to decode for himself? If not for a lucky selection of this bet's victim, and a convenient pause in the gunfight so Alex could present the problem to hacker kid, how was THAT supposed to work?

Two questions:

I missed the first episode of the series, so I'm a bit unsure of the premise.  When the House wins every single week, wouldn't it be likely that the high stakes gamblers would take their action elsewhere?

Was that President Obama's actual signature on the pardon, or did they just fake it?

I'm sure the Prez stopped by the set one day, and an assistant strolled over and said, "Hey, buddy, would you throw your John Hancock on this for us?"

I'm still watching too.  I think the show has room for improvement so I hope it gets the chance to do so.

Count me in the disappointed group wrt to the fight scene.  Of all the things that make me shake my head at this show, wasting the opportunity to let the two of them shine is at the top.

Speaking of head shaking...why did the NDW leave a number so he could find her, tell him she knew he would and then turn around and tell him not to find her?

And why did they have her say "they'll kill YOU" (emphasis mine) instead of "they'll kill ME?"

The former wouldn't slow down a man in love, the latter would at least give him pause.

That was the strangest.  Fake your death.  Leave a secret phone number for him to call.  When he calls, tell him you're not really dead.  Then tell him don't call again.

Why didn't NDW simply get in her car and drive away, leaving a note saying "I gotta split, don't try to find me!"

I'm just in this for Cassandra. I'm invested in her backstory.

I wondered the same thing. I was thinking, "They could have just opened the garage door and left, since the Feds just let them go.  No need for the demolition derby move."

I'm actually finding Alex less likeable with each episode.  He hits the "self-righteous" button a bit too much for my taste.  That, and his "Ginny!" is about as annoying as Lost's "WALT!" Dude, one minute you're a devastated widower, the next you're flirting with Cassandra. Winchester does have the steely, determined look down pat. And I got my shirtless scene, sort of.

And why did they have her say "they'll kill YOU" (emphasis mine) instead of "they'll kill ME?"

Shhhhhhhhhhh. Logic has no place on this show.

The problem with the Snipes/Lee fight for me was how they shot it.  The camera angles seemed to obscure the choreography to me, but I'm very, very far from a martial arts expert.

My issue when shows do the possibly dead spouse thing is that the viewers never get a chance to connect with that person (because they are supposedly dead), and as a result, we're not invested in what happens to them either way.

Also, hiis reaction to the phone call was weirdly muted.

Will Yun Lee!  Should have known it was a matter of time.  He tends to appear at least once on these type of action-heavy shows.  Love his scenes with Johnson, but I agree that the fight didn't quite live up to what it could have been.  I could tell that Wesley Snipes and Lee did a lot of themselves, which is always good, but it was just shot in a way, that felt kind of sloppy at times.

The bet of the week was fun, but not too surprising.  I knew the kid wasn't going to be a traitor, and just stumbled upon something he wasn't expecting too.  And it kind of made Alex look like an asshole, for being so judgmental with him.  Don't even think he apologized for that.  But I doubt the kid cares since he got to meet Cassie!  I'm with you there, kid!  Cassie is the best!

So, Alex now gets official confirmation that Ginny is still alive.  Sounds like she is being held by someone or some group.  Johnson would probably be too obvious, but I wonder if involves other members of the organization (assuming it isn't just Johnson and Cassie), or some of the betters.

Still enjoying.  Too bad it is pretty much done for.  I guess there wasn't room on NBC for both of the stars of Strike Back.

Pity the talented Winchester goes while the wooden Stapleton gets to stay.

But I can save this show easily!  Just get Cassie to strip naked and reveal that she is covered in tattoos!

Pity it was for the bland and dull show.

I know.  I can't believe people are connecting with the awful Blindspot over this.  I just find this show so much fun, despite the stupid ex-wife plot. I'll be sad if it gets canceled.

Heh, also for female viewers, Jane (or whatever her name is) is a character they can invest in.  The Player is clearly catering to the male demo.  The show might have done better to premiere in the spring or summer - decreased likelihood of sports siphoning their audience (male and female).

Really?  I'm a female and I find both Jane and the main guy boring and I'm certainly not invested in her story.  And their acting is pathetic to boot.  I love the main guy in The Player and I'm very interested in Cassandra's backstory.

I didn't get how the wife was shot and clearly killed almost in front of him and then she re-appears unharmed elsewhere, if the doppelganger was shot, that means he slept with her that night, and they switched the bodies anyway.

I'm in love with Cassandra

It was probably done for dramatic purposes, to make him think she's dead.  They'll most likely explain away that they didn't hit a vital organ or something like that.
