I wonder why Ruby is even brought up. She wasn't biologically related to the Spencers. I think it's probably just another "oh look, history!"

fan service by the writers. Thing is-when she hasn't been mentioned in decades and only old school viewers watched the character, who cares?

Not me-especially since I never liked the old santimonious cow even when she was alive. I suppose making her a part of this somehow would have a point IF she had children on screen or something, but she doesn't. So again....pointless as far as I can tell.

As far as TG is concerned with his storylines, I've always said I don't think he has much if any pull in what he's given. If he did, he wouldn't openly admit to being so ready to quit the few times he has said so, because of disliking his storylines. That alone tells me he obviously doesn't get to dictate what he gets or doesn't get. If he got his way as often as some think, he would have been paired with JE years ago.

Anyway-he said he was ready to quit this last time and TPTB approached him about this SL, and what they pitched him intrigued him enough to stay. But I have a sneaking suspicion that what they pitched him, and what is being played out, are not the same.

I can't imagine TG getting excited over this crap. Then again, ideas, when pitched, often sound so much better than the reality once they are written.

Besides that, everything is just so random. Nothing makes sense. IDK what they originally said to him, but I don't believe for a minute the original idea is what we are seeing now.

YMMV

So they would all have a reason to be at the cemetery and so they could reference Luke and Bobbie's childhood some more.

Luke and Bobbie are her kids in a sense. She was a really shitty one, but she was a relevant figure to them.

I mean, I only started watching in 1997 but I still remember her hanging out with Liz and Lucky and I remember the original episode where she died, so I had nostalgic fuzzies for it, and I barely watched Ruby that much. I do think they would have never mentioned it if not for the aforesaid reasons I mentioned, but I thought it was a decent way to use it if they're going to use contrived history.

I can't imagine TG getting excited over this crap. Then again, ideas, when pitched, often sound so much better than the reality once they are written.

I think TG likes anything where Luke/whatever character he's playing gets to act like an asshole and wax philosophical nonsensical bullshit. When he was going on about everyone's bodies floating back like glittering stars or whatever, I am 97% sure Geary thought that was deep stuff.

Anyway-he said he was ready to quit this last time and TPTB approached him about this SL, and what they pitched him intrigued him enough to stay.

He's said for the past 10 years, if not the past 15, that he was on the verge of quitting but then they wrote this or that. In 2011 it was the Jake stuff, in 2014 it was Fluke. I have no doubt he's always close to walking away but then the money and the time off are too much of a temptation to give up while he's still physically up to it. (and I'm sure he likes a lot of the people at the studio, but I'm sure the other two are a much higher priority).

I don't think Geary has that much control either. But he has enough sway to, say, let Luke keep drinking when the headwriter clearly wanted to put a stop to that.

We're saying the same thing. I'm saying since they do have Maxie say it, it's not fine. It's fine sans Maxie coo-age.

Ah, thanks, ulkis. I know you tend to be a little more reasonable than I am about Sonny (i.e. not blind with utter rage and loathing) so sometimes I think you're saying something you're not. :-)

IDK. As I said, I haven't watched in a few weeks, though I have read some transcripts. I just keep reading how a lot feel Geary is "checking out" and phoning it in, etc.

Would he be doing that if he liked the material? I don't think he would. Whether people like Luke or not, like Geary or not, I think he is one of those actors that really gives it his all when he likes the material.

And, he checks out when he doesn't.

As others have said though, it could just be that he's tired. But if he's that tired that he can't deliver a performance regardless of his personal feelings-yeah time to call it quits.

But Sloane and Lomax rigging the election isn't really that connected to the Fluke stuff, right?  Nikolas cooperated and burned the ballots for his own dumb reasons, not because Helena told him to.  So Fluke going down won't necessarily expose them.

But isn't it connected to whatever Helena is planning? And isn't that connected to Fluke? Plus is Sloane stays commissioner what exactly is Anna going to do? Why stay in town, she can easily rejoin the WSB with Frisco at the helm. Become  PI again? Maybe but there does not even seem to be enough work for Sam let alone some one of Anna's experience

She was a really shitty one, but she was a relevant figure to them.

I never saw Ruby as shitty. Yes she ran a brothel in Florida and Bobbie and Luke both worked there in some capacity but I always saw her as some one dealt a tough hand who worked out of it and pushed Bobbie and Luke upwards while dragging herself by the bootstraps.  By the time she died Ruby owned her own business and was respected by such figures as Lila and Edward, Robert and Anna and dozens of others. And she had seen Bobbie go from hooker to head nurse and Luke be elected mayor. Not bad for an old Madame (and unlike Renne on OLTL she did not have to marry a rich man to get there...In fact I do not recall Ruby ever marrying on the show...though she came close with Dan Rooney)

So then why recast? That plot can't have very long legs

If Ron decides he wants him to stick around as a viable love interest for Anna, he'll just Siobhan him.  "Yes, he helped with the plot, but Fluke and Helena are holding his sister/brother/nephew/dog hostage, so he has no choice!"

Ruby also was a judgemental witch. I don't have much use for Lucy Coe, but the way Ruby treated her is a great example.  When you're an ex madam, I don't care what anyone else has done, short of murder, you have no moral highground to look down your nose at anybody.

I dunno about this "Pat" thing.  Isn't Luke already an old woman?

Never mind also that everyone said he couldn't be Anthony Zacchara because of the height difference. We're supposed to believe  Pat is the same height, weight, and body build of her brother?

No. Not saying they won't do it-this sl went off the rails some time ago. Anything's possibile, but it would be truly idiotic.

If Ron decides he wants him to stick around as a viable love interest for Anna, he'll just Siobhan him.  "Yes, he helped with the plot, but Fluke and Helena are holding his sister/brother/nephew/dog hostage, so he has no choice!"

It's also possible that Sloane is

the other character rumored to be under cover

.

Spoilered because I'm not sure if that's been confirmed.

I do laugh at the way Ava, Julian, Franco., Magda and Sonny all seem to have the run of the prison.

It's like they're at a coed boarding school, and they sneak into the opposite sex's dorms.

So then why recast? That plot can't have very long legs

They must not have liked what the current actor was doing. I didn't.

I know Ron and Frank wanted to stop Luke's drinking and alcoholism, so instead TG just kept doing it as ad-libs on-set. Finally they feigned addressing it, and revealed that it wasn't cirrhosis of the liver after all - he just had radiation poisoning from a supervillain. Since then they've given up. I still shake my head.

Did they really recast Kevin? Jesus. "We haven't shown him in almost a year when we should've but we had to have him today, right when Jon Lindstrom wasn't available because he has another job! This is what happens when you take other work!" I'm beginning to find it a little too coincidental.

Seriously. At least it gives me time to clear off other shows on the DVR. I hope Dante uncovers everything so this storyline will finally be over, but leave it to Michael to ruin things.

Bobbie has looked fantastic recently. Gold star to whomever de-fugged her face.

Do what I did. Try to watch one of the 67 there on my DVR , I accidently and deleted them. What is the funniest thing , I didn't even care. So they are gone well that's the way it goes. I had watched maybe two hours total of them all. Guess I am getting to the point where the barge looks better than the show. Edited by testardo

Yeah. Physically he looks okay, if a bit short for LH, but he started talking and he has a very nervous sounding voice. It seems like a one-time only thing though.

Seriously, I think this show hates me.

I wanted to see more of Lucas, but when I do, his sole purpose is to prop up Carly and try to sell the audience on Michael forgiving her.

I wanted to see Kevin, but when I do, it's some random recast brought in just to deliver some plot point information to Carly.

Why, show?  WHY?!?!

Wait, wait, wait...they got someone new to play Kevin?

Why not just create a new psychologist that could work as a colleague of Kevin's who stepped in to take over his cases as he deals with some off screen crisis than actually go through the trouble of name dropping Kevin all over the place and then have to cast a new actor to temporarily play him when the whole reason Kevin is such a beloved character and figure is because of the actor who's always played him?

Oh but what am I thinking? That's what good writers and directors do when they actually care about characters and history and other such worthless things in the eyes of the Wreck It Ron Regime.

Someone who is NOT Jon Lindstrom is playing Kevin Collins today.

BLASPHEMY!

Someone must burn for this. It's inexcusable and unforgivable.

Maybe it was just me not having seen Lucas and Brad having sexy fun time together in forever, but Ryan and Parry both seemed to be going at each other rather...intensely, heh.

Those kisses were on fire, yowzah, and all the body groping/mauling, and especially the after sex glow talk with Parry gasping and Ryan looking like he was the cat who just caught a canary...I think my television screen fogged up, heh. And not to mention the ass grabbing, oh the ass grabbing. Ryan was pawing at Parry's goodies like crazy.

And yet it's Sam and Patrick that got the twenty hour shower with dialog stolen right out of a 70s porno.

And speaking of that lifeless couple, Sam and Patrick have the worst lines for the moment, they're so stupidly cringe-worthy. And their kisses continue to lack an iota of heat imo.

Dear god Sam cooked one fucking meal that didn't cost anyone their life by food poisoning and they keep bringing it up like she cured cancer, sweet baby jesus make it stop.

And why the hell would Lucas know anything about an Asian figurine his sister kept in her bedroom? Oh right, plot points! At least Brad knew it for the cheap tourist trinket it is.

As much as I loathe and hate to admit this but Sonny had the right idea of killing Franco.

"We'll strangle him and stick him in a cot." "What if they do a cell check?". "We'll stick him in someone else's cot".

And his quips about it not taking too long to just snap his neck...if only we could all ever be so lucky Sonny, if only...

Helena said that Robin had a 'dour' face, no kidding you withered old shrew considering she's been kidnapped and held hostage for nearly as long as she's been apart of her daughter's life . Ron really does enjoy insulting the characters/actors he can't have his way with whenever he wants.

Jakson may be active but this storyline is anything but. Except perhaps actively dumb as hell.

I will re-frame from commenting on the notLuke and Dante scenes because they involved notLuke and I just want his foul body dropped into a hole in the ground and encased in cement.

Dante. Hit the guy with a crowbar and go down. Don't yap about how you know he's someone else. And I appreciate how they did everything to show him secure Fluke, so what are they gonna say? Magical handcuffs? Lord.

Helena isn't much smarter. Having Jason as a hitman really isn't worth all this effort Helena. It really isn't.

I really, really hate Franco guys. Why must he interject in between every sentence of Sonny's and Julian's? He's not. Funny. Sonny was funnier when he made that remark about shoving Franco's body in someone else's cell.

I think Lucas and Brad managed to make it without a Golden Girls reference, even though there was something about tv in there.

Couldn't they have given Kevin some dayplayer assistant in a pinch?  They could have given Carly the same info, that Jake(son) never attended an appointment with Kevin.

It's just garbage.  The show purposely kept Kevin off-screen for months, gave him no POV in the disintegration of his relationship with Lucy, but all of a sudden, it's DESPERATE that he's on-screen to support a Jake(son)/Carly plot point.

Well, if someone else has to play the part, I'm glad it's someone I know and love.  I missed the beginning of the ep.  Did the announcer say "the part is now being played by" or just today?

Maaaybe. If it was someone else, Carly would've been like, "you must be lying! I have to go right to Kevin!" I can see why they wanted/needed Carly to go right to Kevin.

It's crap that they kept him off-screen for all the Kevin/Lucy stuff but if it's a one day thing I don't mind/can understand why they did it this way. If they gave a whole new subplot to a nuKevin, then I'd be really irritated.

In non-ranting about the Kevin Collins situation news...can someone clarify, are Brad and Lucas living together?  Would the show really have them make that major decision in their relationship off-screen?

I don't think so. Although of course the show would totally do that off-screen.

They really did not need Kevin onscreen to tell Carly he hasn't seen Jason - all she has to do is say, "I just came from Dr. Collins' office." That's what I expected, frankly. To me it just smacks of GH cracking the whip in a petty way. If we hadn't seen them treat the recurring vets this way before I wouldn't be suspicious.

I think I may be one of the few online who don't have a problem with Sloane, or the current actor playing him.  Then again, I've watched him a total of maybe three times-and what I saw IMO wouldn't have given any actor much to work with. I like that he is a tool to knock Anna off her pedestal.

She kind of needs to be knocked off from time to time. Especially since when you consider that in reality, the idea of a woman allowed to remain police commissioner while dating a supposed reformed mobster (at the time) is stupid to the nth degree.

If it were RL people would be picketing for her to be fired.

So eh. He gets in Anna's face. It's past due.

That, plus I don't think the actor is as unattractive as some-but then, I don't watch soaps for the pretty. I never have. I think characters who remain clothed and can keep my interest are far more worthy of my time.

It's probably why I preferred Levi over Nathan-not as a match for Maxie, just in terms of story worthiness for the character.

Yes, the Nathan actor is prettier. But that's all he is. While Levi, less attractive, was actually a character who had some substance-at least as much as I think these writers are capable of.

And I say that as a Nathan fan-give me a less attractive actor playing an interesting, layered character, over a physically beautiful actor playing a walking doll, any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

ETA that I have no idea if Sloane will turn out to be complex, but he certainly has the potential to be interesting.

Then again, so did Levi. And he was just used as a tool to prop Naxie. Who, as a couple, were far more interesting with Levi in the mix than without him. I can't see them bothering to recast though, if Sloane is just going to be a plot point. I think it will depend on how GMc plays the role.

I don't mind it if someone isn't hot. But then give me some charisma or acting talent, neither of which Agent Sloane had, imo.

I can't choose between Nathan and Levi.

I still say it's nonsense that Ron would keep having everyone go on and on about "Kevin this" or "Kevin that" when he knew Jon would not be able to come back on such short notice to film any scenes. They didn't have to keep interjecting him into so much of the writing. Kevin is only adored because of Jon, if we can't have Jon then just make up a new head shrink for the day and be done with it.

Between Robin and AJ, Ron has a field day, I swear.

If he could have found some way for Helena to slip in a dig about AJ to his mind-addled brother he would have, I have no doubt.

And I appreciate how they did everything to show him secure Fluke, so what are they gonna say? Magical handcuffs? Lord.

With his old shriveled up hands they must want to imply that he just merely slipped free. That or he pulled himself free from the bars in half a second. So I guess notLuke really isn't Bill, he's Superman!

Helena isn't much smarter. Having Jason as a hitman really isn't worth all this effort Helena. It really isn't.

One would think that she'd be working hard on that incredibly annoying great grandson of hers to turn him into her next family mindless minion. She already scares the poop out of him, it wouldn't be hard.

Don't forget about "risotto risotto risotto!!" Because apparently that is the only dish Sam can make but it's just so gosh darn incredible and amazing it may just land her a spot on the Food network.

I'm hoping, fingers and toes crossed, that Lucas has a key to Brad's place but they haven't moved in officially together because if I got screwed out of that kind of scene with the only couple I give a damn about on this show...

I still can't get over the chemistry between Parry and Ryan though, heh, it calms me to think about their scenes today and how jaw droppingly awesome they were. They just picked up right where they left off, not missing a beat. Some of that dialog though...for 2 in the afternoon was rather racy, heh.

I would mind if the show kept them making that decision completely off-screen.

That's what twitter is for though. #Updatesasneeded

And you got to love how Carly is turning in Jake not because he committed a crime, hurt someone she knows (Sam).  But that she wants to be the super bestest friend she can be to him.  BLECH.

I think Ron's being watching "How To Get Away With Murder".
