Riding the metro this afternoon, the guy in front of me saw another guy wearing a Colorado Buffalos sweatshirt.   he asked if Travis Hunter got picked.   Then he asked about Sanders.   I had to break the news to him that Sanders crashed out of the first round.

Not surprised in the least.   Who knows what Sanders is without his dad coaching him and without Travis Hunter to throw to.  My first thought on the Hunter pick is "Now Trevor Lawrence has someone to throw to."   "Fuck it Travis out there somewhere I'll just heave it up."

Will Campbell crying because he was so overcome at being picked was just great.   I was like "I will die for this kid now."   Okay maybe not, but I will follow his career with interest.

I like seeing how excited these young men are as they are drafted.  The Packers posted a couple of "My Draft Story" videos on their website.  They had a fun one with TE Tucker Kraft.  He had most of the town at his party for the second night of the 2023 draft since he was expected to be late 2nd or 3rd round pick and he said as the picks went on, he began to think he had the party for nothing.  There was video of him sitting quietly and then glancing at his phone, totally surprised to see an incoming call from the Packers.  He said he had crossed them off his list since they took TE Luke Musgrave in the second round.  The look on his face when he saw the call on his phone was so cute.  Then it was "yes sir, yes sir, I'd be happy to wear #85."

Trying to figure out what actual team will wind up drafting Sanders.

I have to think that the football people for the Jets and Cowboys at least have their hands full trying to keep their owners away from the draft cars.

I think the Rams make a bit of football sense with Stafford's age and the coach having the gravitas to not be bothered by Deion.

I actually think the Chiefs could take him and park him behind Mahomes and have him learn for a while.

I am too.  This feels punitive because of his dad and for Shedeur acting cocky.

I think it is quite a bit abt Deion.  If whatever team drafts him falls on their face this year, the clamor for Deion as the next HC could be loud.  What coach wants to draft his possible successor.

Some if it's also on both for outright saying early on they don't want Shadeur to be drafted by certain teams.  I bet they'd change their mind now.

Some is on Shadeur himself for coming across entitled and arrogant.

Plus those teams not put off by his attitude might wonder what this guy is like being coached by another person.  He's only had Deion as his HC for his entire career, including HS.

Shedeur Sanders did handle the prank pulled on him yesterday well. He understood it was meant to get a reaction out of him and he didn't satisfy the troll with one. I wonder what NFL person gave out that phone number.

Skipping the combine is not the issue. Cam Ward, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Bryce Young, and Joe Burrow all skipped and they all were drafted highly, some of them at #1 - including, again, Ward who is this year's #1 pick. The combine isn't a good place for evaluating a QB and that's why QBs skip. Sanders still had his pro day for teams.

Sanders has some real questions about his game, but he also has a high pass completion rate while rarely turning the ball over, which is a combination valued by HCs.

This is about Deion Sanders. HCs don't want to deal with Deion angling for their job and teams don't want to deal with him causing media firestorms complaining about his son's position on the team's QB depth chart.

It's been reported that the interviews with Shadeur and the teams have been beyond terrible. Like taking a personal FaceTime call during an interview with a coach terrible.

Deion could get away with acting like that since he was one of the best ever at his position athletically. Shadeur is not, by all accounts.

Yet the Ravens take someone twice accused of sexual assault.  So apparently needing some work is enough to get you to slide all the way to day 3 or go undrafted, but sexual assault doesn't keep you from being a day one pick.

Shedeur is solidly in back up territory here.   How he handles that says a lot.

And those who think Deon is gonna be an NFL HC are dreaming.    He was a great small school coach, a decent one at a bigger school, but no way is he ready for the NFL.    Look at all the college coaches who had years more of experience and success than Deon who failed out.   And I think Deon is smart enough to know that.

I wish Deon would go back to being an analyst.   He was a damn good one.   His recap show on Sunday night on NFL Network after SNF was must watch for me.  Didn't care how late it was on, it was worth it.

Shedeur Sanders had teams he wanted to go to and teams he didn't - which honestly is true of every player I'm sure. But there's a "right" way and a "wrong" way to go about it apparently. Myself, I don't particularly see much daylight between Eli Manning and Shedeur Sanders in this regard. Teams may have found Sanders's open desire for the Raiders to have the top pick irksome, and he should generally have viewed the interviews with the teams he didn't want to play for as valuable dressing rehearsals for the teams he did want to play for, but his being invested in the draft order and bombing certain interviews indicated that he was going to go play for whichever team drafted him even if it wasn't his preferred destination, unlike Manning and his dad who declared ahead of time that he absolutely would not play for the Chargers and held to that after he was drafted, forcing the trade. No falling down to Day 3 for him.

I’m currently in my hockey watching season since the Hurricanes are in the playoffs and have not paid any attention to the draft but my 12 year old informed me that the Panthers drafted an incredible WR Tetairoa McMillan. He showed me some videos of him and he looks like a good pick (I don’t follow college football too much). Anyway- maybe we can have a hopeful season coming up!
