Deadly Sins was the only other time I have seen this case. I actually didn't recognize this case until nearly 50 minutes in because I forgot the name of the people involved.

I've missed all of you!  I know the reason is there hasn't been shit on I.D. channel to talk about, but tomorrow night will be fun, right?  (A Crime to Remember!)  I do wish they were featuring a case I'd never heard of, but just the same I'll watch for sure because the show is just so well done.   

Anyhow, I've really been enjoying Cold Case Files (with Bill Kurtis) on the Reelz channel.  The last couple I've watched are from 2002 and even though I'm certain I'd seen them 10-12 years ago because I never missed that show, they're new to me again because I don't remember them (recall....I have C.R.S. disease:  Can't Remember Shit).  In any event, if you get Reelz, it's on Mon.-Fri. @ 2:00 p.m. -- that's when Comcast airs it, anyhow.

Great to hear from you, too, AKraven!  I agree w/you about the 80s & People Magazine shows - I've watched them & they're not too bad.  Dontcha just love Bill Kurtis?!  I think the reason why we love Cold Case Files and Forensic Files is their half-hour format to tell the story, instead of muddling through an entire hour of horrible acting & ridiculous "filler."

...And I can certainly identify with you re: holidays --- good news is that, for me, anyhow, the alcohol goes a long way to tame the rage.  However, I don't drink any more.  I don't drink any less, either!  (Ha!  I love that line from "While You Were Sleeping"!)

Hey there, Maizie!  Good to see you!  I have been so busy ordering crap online, and tracking said crap, it has been exhausting.  I don't even think I am finished yet, either.  You guys have channels we don't get, Justice channel and Reelz.  We have ID and Chiller (which is a pretty cool channel for horror movies).  No Bill Kurtis for me :(  I've also been caught up in the Oakland tragedy and watching the fallout from the election.  Unluckily for me, I don't drink anymore, so there is no numbing allowed.  Hope you and yours are doing good!  Hugs!

I'm also glad to see some action on this thread. I don't comment much because I travel a lot and only watch TV on the treadmill when I'm home (I must justify my guilty pleasure), but I always enjoy coming here when there's something interesting to talk about. I just watched my first People Magazine Investigates and the 80s show, and I think they're surprisingly interesting and well done. I'd never heard of the cabin murders, that was freakish, and the Charles Stuart story, even though I know all about it, is always compelling. Sad, but compelling. I'm pretty picky about what I watch, but both shows kept my interest all the way through. I'm also looking forward to A Crime to Remember, it's well-done too.

I am much more impressed with it than I expected, but I am having difficulty watching ID right now.  The mad grasp for ratings by suggesting OJ is really innocent is pissing me off. Those ads make me want to throw things .

The shows mostly cover crimes that have been done elsewhere, and if you watch many shows, it's hard to keep track.

I don't have a huge problem with very popular shows, like Kenda, having their own forums. I am just not sure what makes one qualify, but not another. It seems like it would be best to see how much demand there is. Although, maybe someone saw talk about it here and requested one. I just don't know why it would merit one, but A Crime to Remember wouldn't.

I don't think it is based on merit; it would seem that the only "qualification" for a show forum is someone requesting it.

My problem is that if you make a forum for a show, you have to have all those other topics, and honestly,  what people can you break out to talk about?
If it it were one forum for a show, that would be OK.

Just finished watching the new Crime to Remember. It was well-done, but sort of disappointing that it was such a well-known story. The only thing that I find odd is the female narrator they always have who is peripherally connected to the crime -- an unnamed neighbor, former classmate, whatever. She always has that same dreamy monotone. Is it the same woman on each show? I don't think they really need that element. 

I also watched Married with Secrets for the first time today. Part of it anyway, it was sort of boring. It was the one about the scientist (or professor) who was obsessed with the prostitute. When I realized is was a 33-year-old crime, plus not all that interesting to begin with, I gave up on it. Seriously, a fairly banal crime from 1983? I think they can do better than that.

I really didn't like A Crime to Remember doing the Starkweather case at all. It didn't bring anything new to the case, and I, too, found the narrator annoying. Having watched essentially a marathon of the older episodes, I was already starting to get annoyed by the narration, but this one bothered me even more. The hokey accents and slow speech patterns they give everyone is starting to bug me. I started feeling that way with the Pied Piper episode, because I am from Tucson and no one here has ever spoken like that. This one was probably worse because I wasn't even hearing anything new. The Starkweather case doesn't offer anything new for a true crime show fan, so I focused on the bad narration.

Haven't watched yet, but I remember reading about Startweather and the girl when I was a kid, and I haven't seen it done on TV, so I do want to see it.
Not like OJ or JonBenet, that I remember hearing too much of, at the time.

There is zero proof of that, except old Charlie hoping that turning on the kid he was fucking would get him some sympathy and save his life. If she was so dangerous, she had decades to show it after she was released. Strangely enough, once the childfucker was dead, no one had any problems with Carol Anne, in prison or out.

Absolutely she should've been sittin' on his lap!  And would you believe that bitch actually chose to live in MY State of Michigan after she was so wrongfully let out of prison?!?  Unreal.  Are teenagers fucked up?  You betcha, but what she did goes far beyond the pale.  Brattinella - I was tempted to look up the name given in the description of next week's A Crime to Remember but I won't.  Doesn't sound familiar to me, tho, so this is good.

This isn't related to any particular case, but in general, I absolutely hate when relatives are made to go on TV after a kidnapping or missing persons case and beg the perpetrator to let the victim go. Both in real life and fiction.

What's the point, exactly, except for bleed-and-lead TV ratings? The kidnapper never complies.

It does provide a loop of constantly re-aired footage if the pleading relative is later found to be culpable, eg. Susan Smith.

I've been keeping up with true crime stuff for 3 years so alot of the cases when it comes to A Crime to Remember I don't recognize, but this Starkweather one I recognize immedately, and that's because I first saw this case on American Justice (I think the title was Spree Killer)

Scorned: Love Kills already did this story. I recognized it immediately as soon as I saw the preview on my DirecTV and the first few minutes of the show. Married with Secret has done to my knowledge 2 rehashes in a row. This story then the previous week the Shawna Nelson case which Deadly Affairs, On the Case with Paula Zahn, and Snapped already did.

This week's A Crime to Remember was interesting, I'd never heard of that story before. It was crazy. Still hate that stupid narration thing, though (I didn't know him/her but my older sister's friend's cousin's brother did). I mean, I know its supposed to be someone "remembering" this crime as a random member of the community, but it's poorly done.

i saw that show Kell's, what i I thought was strange was the girl's father was African American and the real father was not.  I am all for diversity but at least get the race right. Did anyone else notice that?  It also happened on an Evil Stepmother show where the actress appeared Aisan and the real person was not.

I was going to post about Pandora's Box. That was a crazy story! So many twists and turns. My heart just broke for the woman who was kidnapped as a child and then ended up marrying her kidnapper.  What an evil man.  So was he the one that ran over her and killed her, or was it an accident? I was in and out of sleep during this even though I thought it was really interesting.
