Kromm March 29, 2014 Share March 29, 2014 (edited) The place to discuss Stephen, when he (as either Colbert or Colbert) pops up in places that aren't The Colbert Report. --------------------------------------- For example: My fave: A Colbert Christmas - Elvis Costello/Stephen Colbert duet. People who don't love this are dead inside! Edited March 29, 2014 by Kromm Link to comment
Vikitty March 30, 2014 Share March 30, 2014 This is probably my favourite thing in the entire world: Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello perform 'Devil Went Down To Georgia.' Link to comment

ALenore July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 Stephen moderated the new Hobbit movie panel at San Diego Comic Con. He came dressed in costume from his cameo in the movie: http://io9.com/in-the-first-hobbit-battle-of-five-armies-teaser-it-a-1611431159?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow 2 Link to comment
M. Darcy July 29, 2014 Share July 29, 2014 Someone posted the entire panel on you tube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugEFwc5bMB8 Its worth watching - unless I guess you really really hate The Hobbit :-) 1 Link to comment
RA-Monty July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 (edited) Stephen is featured in Rookie Mag's "Ask a Grown Man" where he gives wise advice about misogynist jokes, boyfriend-based dilemmas, and how to tell if someone thinks you’re cool. Edited July 31, 2014 by RA-Monty 1 Link to comment

Inquisitionist August 6, 2014 Share August 6, 2014 I met Stephen (and Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris) at a book-signing after their performance of Wigfield in Somerville, MA back in 2003. Way cool experience! 3 Link to comment

ABay August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Yes...hmm...I watched the Emmys. I did not enjoy Stephen's bit as a presenter, but he and Fallon were funny when TCR won. Although I do still feel like Stephen is cheating on Jon when he pals around with Fallon. Link to comment
alexvillage August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I watched the Emmy's too, still trying to understand why I did it. It was boring and very unfunny. I did not like Stephen's presenting either. I thought it was forced and not funny, maybe he did not write, someone else did. If he did write he was very uninspired. Liked that he won, he deserves it. 1 Link to comment
peeayebee August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I just didn't get that invisible friend bit. I kept waiting for the punchline. It never came. Link to comment
trow125 August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Yeah, it was an uncharacteristically lame bit from Stephen. At least we'll probably get a good "Who's Honoring Me Now" bit on tonight's show. 1 Link to comment

Although I do still feel like Stephen is cheating on Jon when he pals around with Fallon. I just hope Jonny-bun won't hold a grudge on anybody "bromancing" Stephen (there's plenty of Stephen to go around). I thought it was hilarious Fallon went up on stage, but it only reminded me more of Jonny-bun's absence. I'm just hoping he'll address his congrats once TDS returns. I'm crossing my fingers hoping more interaction between both TDS and TCR will make up for it. Link to comment
LADreamr August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Glad he won, but not impressed with his comment about needing to apologize for having only one woman on his writing staff... "for some reason." It bothered me because I think of him as highly intelligent and this seemed uncharacteristically narrow-minded of him. If you want only men around you, Stephen, I think you're missing out on probably a lot of very bright, funny women, but that's your prerogative. But maybe don't bring it up at all, then. It just really rubbed me the wrong way about him, when, in all these years, I've never known him to be tone-deaf about anything. 2 Link to comment
peeayebee August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I didn't understand that comment. Or rather, like you suggested, it didn't seem like something he would say. Maybe he meant something else that didn't come across. In any case, he had an off night. 1 Link to comment

ABay October 11, 2014 Share October 11, 2014 (edited) My local PBS station is running the Colbert-featuring Company on Great Performances tonight. Check your local listings. ETA: Not that it helps if you have fucking WEDH in CT because once again they played a promo and then showed something else entirely. Exhibit B in Why I don't pledge. Exhibit A is that damned "members choice" thing they stick in the guide and never, ever explain what they're going to show. So much hate for them. WNPR, on the other hand, has my hand-earned cash. ALenore October 17, 2014 Share October 17, 2014 Really interesting podcast here. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I like it a lot so far: On this episode of Working, David Plotz talks with Stephen Colbert on how he puts his show together and turns himself from Stephen Colbert into the character “Stephen Colbert”—starting from when he wakes up in the morning, what he watches for inspiration, how he knows the material is any good, all the way through to the actual filming of the show. http://www.slate.com/articles/podcasts/working/2014/10/stephen_colbert_on_his_improv_background_and_how_he_gets_in_character_for.html Link to comment

roseha December 23, 2014 Share December 23, 2014 Now that Stephen will have 8-9 months off before his next job at Late Night, I would love to see him in an acting role or two. I think he would be great as one of Sherlock's "irregulars" in Elementary - I could just see him nailing that kind of weird intellectual character. They film that show in New York don't they? Just a thought. Link to comment
Kromm December 23, 2014 Author Share December 23, 2014 I wish the timing had been right for him to make another Christmas special. Maybe a Fourth of July special? Nah. That would be too explicitly "fake Colbert"? Link to comment
