Fosse talked about his encounter with Rose during A's broadcasts. He worked for the A's until his cancer diagnosis and subsequent death a couple of years ago.  He is beloved here.

I don't know how Rose for women to sleep with him. He was not attractive and I am sure he had no game.

Ray Fosse is much loved in Cleveland, too.  One of the few bright lights in some very dismal years.

Michael Kay and Tim Kurkjian calling baseball, even if it’s the dastardly Astros?  Yes please.

I knew it was coming, but the advertising on the batting helmets is making me irrationally angry.

Yes, it's a great booth. I have no issues with Todd Frazier, either. I wish we could have more of this team moving forward, but the Disney networks are only covering the Wild Card Series. 😕

Michael Kay is much more tolerable when not calling Yankee games.

I remember many years ago, on The Tomorrow Show, Tom Snyder had on a bunch of baseball ex-wives, basically talking about what cheating bastards their husbands were. Pete Rose's ex told of a time when she went on a road trip with him. She almost never went with him when he went on the road, but this time she did. She said she was awakened in the wee hours, to see Pete next to the bed, getting dressed. She asked what he was doing, and half-asleep he said, "I'm going back to my room."

He apparently did this out of habit! In his groggy state, he forgot he was with his wife. She said she knew he probably slept around when he was away from home, but to have it so brutally shoved in her face wasn't fun.

I'm in a Comcast Xfinity Wi-Fi and television outage and for some reason the 5G on my phone (T-Mobile) is acting weird, too.

Could someone here please update me on the scores for all the games? Outage started while the Tigers/Astros game was in the 9th. I really want to know if the Tigers held on for the win.

Tigers decided to make it interesting, Houston had the bases loaded down two in the bottom of the ninth.  Jason Hayward hit a smoke shot that would have won the game, but the first baseman’s lightning fast reflexes saved the day for Detroit.

Mets retired 17 Brewers in a row to take game one 8-4.  Next up, Braves vs. Padres, where hopefully the road team prowess turns ice-cold.

Just checking . . . if the Mets advance to the NLDS ( 🤞), would they have to face the Dodgers? I’m seeing indications that they’d go to Philadelphia, and that doesn’t make sense to me because the Dodgers are the higher seed.

So far, so good. We're all Padres fans tonight. 😀

I'm all in for 3 games today!

So... it didn't rain.  The temp was quite comfy.  And dinner was spectacular.

Really, I love a good pitcher's duel.  I just prefer it when my team scores the run.

Final 2024 stats of Aaron Judge's historic season. Keep in mind, he had mediocre numbers in April because that was his Spring Training; he was injured for the bulk of February and March. It was a privilege to watch Judge's season on a daily basis. Also, he's a great center fielder.

While it's okay to see KC advance (and possibly crumble in the ALDS in a huge way), that sucks for Baltimore.  At least they've won a WS not too long ago, but it's about present time.

WHY DO WE SUCK!!!!????!!!!!!

Sorry...  had to yell.

While I'll watch any NFL game I can, I'm really only interested in Orioles ' games in baseball.  So, the season is over for me.  Good luck to all your teams.  I'll be back next year.

Completely understandable. I was excited when Mullins hit the HR. I thought they'd take that momentum and win the game. 😥

Um, 41 years ago isn't "not too long".  At least not for me.

Especially @Carey after you were bemoaning the fact that the Yankees are "due" because they haven't won since - checks thread - 2009.

Don't mean to be mean, but I'm a little salty right now.

41 years isn't that recent I'll admit.  Fortunately you're not a big fan of Cleveland, Tampa, and Seattle.  HM to Pittsburgh and the Cubs (until 2016), but that means less stress.  At least Baltimore hoisted something within the past half century.

I don't mean to be mean either, but what's different between the Orioles and the Yankees are the standards.  Especially if you ask the sports media.  Not even factoring in New York's accomplishments, the expectation is for them to win more often than they have.  That's why I said what I said.  Then there's Los Angeles.  Probably not as epic in the sport, but when you have one player who, if you cut his worth in half, still tops an entire franchise, people expect more.

I feel bad for your team ebk57 (while happy for KC).  I really do.  However, when it's not even 2025 and you're ready for what's next, that's not a good thing.  The team near me opted to choose failure as the face of the organization over winning with Livvy's not better half in his prime, along with the best ballpark IMO, that's not cool.  And they know it, period.  Otherwise, they wouldn't scapegoat.

All the best for your team & Johannah team.  Tough break on Tuesday for Corbin Burnes for what would've been his first complete game (though not sure if that's a good thing within a loss).  Although one is supposed to feel horrible following the end (as it shows that you care), it's not easy for me to feel super sympathetic.  That's coming from living to see the team near me win fewer games than the opposite 20 years in a row.  Nearly 2 dozen consecutive seasons!  Pretty much 28 out of the past 32 seasons, and just 3 playoff games won since a botched ninth inning that preceded total failure.

Nevertheless, it should be a very good MLB postseason, even if San Diego doesn't close.  Good thing it's a comfortable lead, with a game to spare, and everything at home

Wanted to wish @Calvada and the Brewers good luck tonight! I'm probably a weirdo because I always cheer for whoever makes it out of our division (unless it's the Cubs). And I have family in Milwaukee who are fans of the Brew Crew and super excited. They've been a good team all year and deserve to make it past the stupid wild card round.

Ugh.  Since it was in Milwaukee, I was rooting for the Brew Crew.  Sorry Lantern no offense.  Also I am very much not a Polar Bear fan.

Although I will give it to the Met who wears #3 - that is one fine head of hair.

Note to Steve Cohen: PAY THE POLAR BEAR! And thank you, Jesse Winker, for the insurance run.

Next opponent: Philadelphia! And Citi Field gets to host at least one more game.

Well, that was...something.  The funniest thing is they have to keep bleeping all the on-field sound out because everyone is cursing.  At least that's my theory.

I think that’s correct. I remember Pete Alonso dropping a LFGM in a postgame interview on SNY last year.
