Cranberry March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 This thread is for live reactions as the finale episodes air. It will be open on Friday, March 20 starting at 8pm ET and continuing until the west coast airing is complete (I will post a link here to the first west coast post so that people can jump right to it and avoid spoilers if they wish). Outside of that period, this thread will be locked, so please take your discussion to the episode discussion thread. Thanks, and have fun! EDIT: Any west coast viewers who want to discuss live can start right here, at the top of page 5. Link to comment
camussie March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) Loved seeing Terri again. Kurt's hair was good in the first couple of scenes but oh so bad in that cafeteria scene. Edited March 21, 2015 by camussie 2 Link to comment
Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 I feel like this is more Kurt than we've gotten all season (I'm not complaining). 6 Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 ::giggle:: He (Will) looks like an old Justin TImberlake, and Kurt's reaction. 1 Link to comment
CleoCaesar March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Nice to see annoying, uber-driven, Tracy-Flick-like Rachel. Less nice to see perpetually victimized Kurt again. 1 Link to comment
camussie March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) The in show performance of "popular" is better than the song release but I am still not fond of how "mimicy" Rachel is. Edited March 21, 2015 by camussie Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 It looks like they are having a hard time erasing the years ... they get a star for trying tho. Link to comment
marieYOTZ March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that this is the end. Link to comment
shoregirl March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I think they did a better job with amber and lea. I would guess it was harder for Chris because he had a baby face in the pilot. Link to comment
camussie March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Was that supposed to be Finn/Quinn in the shadow at the end of the hall? Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I think this is my favourite episode all season. Everyone feels pretty in character for 2009 especially Rachel. Like wow, Lea Michele is on point right now. I'm really not feeling Burt though. 1 Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Is it just me, or are they manufacturing facial blemishes to replicate teenage years? Please tell me I am dreaming! Link to comment
Hana Chan March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I like how they're backfilling the Kurt/Burt relationship. That while they loved one another, it wasn't a particularly close relationship. Burt tolerated Kurt's interests but was trying to push him into a more "normal" mold. And Kurt afraid to reveal his sexuality because he thought his father would stop loving him. And it shows just how far they've come. Rachel's hypercompetitive is not something that I'm looking forward to getting back into. She really is clueless in how to deal with people. And Will pegs Kurt as gay at his audition. We get all those nice complements about his abilities, but that gay label is there and that means no solos or leads for him. Kurt had the deck stacked against him from the very start. Link to comment
CleoCaesar March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I'm unspoiled and just realized that "2009" refers to the first season. I'm guessing the whole episode is going to be what we're seeing? Ugh. God. I'm suddenly so glad this shitstorm is ending. (And I liked season 1. But this is just too random and pointless.) Link to comment
Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 Lea Michele is great -- she looks and talks and even walks like season one Rachel. 5 Link to comment
MizStaken March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Wondering if Chris could even do Mr. cellophane, why else would they be shooting him (if that's him) from behind ? Everyone looks the same except for him, strange that he got his growth spurt at 18. Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Burt feels out of character, but you're right Hana Chan. The expansion on their relationship actually makes a lot of sense. Idk, it just feels a little too much like Burt won't be okay with Kurt being gay, especially with his conversation with Emma. And this isn't supposed to be AU (at least to my knowledge) so it feels like he's too...abrasive? I guess is the correct word. I am loving Rachel. God, Lea Michele is so good at being season 1 her. It reminds me how much I loved Rachel when she wasn't being completely horrible to other people. Her whole super serious in your face attitude did not bother me as long as she wasn't being like blatantly terrible - like sending Sunshine to the crack house bad. Link to comment
Hana Chan March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I see Rachel in her old pattern of trying to manage the competition. First by undermining Kurt's fragile confidence (because he did easily match her in Popular) and then Mercedes by trying to box her in as an R&B singer. And then she wonders why no one likes her. Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 The Pony song choice makes SO much more sense now that I know it was a joke/dare. Link to comment
Hana Chan March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 They're also really setting up an Artie/Tina reunion. Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Sorry, but ewwww Terri/Will ... I never liked Terri Link to comment
Demian March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) Okay: Revisionist Glee history pisses me off, except when it involves Jessalyn Gilsig. Christ, I've missed her. Edited March 21, 2015 by Demian 2 Link to comment
methodwriter85 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 It is really awkward to watch Chris Colfer try to pull off season 1 Kurt. He's like half a foot taller now and his hair was a lot longer back then. Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Oh my god, the nostalgia. Rachel, literally, always had something to say about Mr. Schuester assignments. And Mercedes hit the nail on the head with her Sandy argument. You could totally see Rachel grasping at straws for an argument. Link to comment
MizStaken March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Biz, you mean Terri? So far no sue, looking good. Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Biz, you mean Terri? Yeah, my iPad didn't like Terri evidently. Thanks! Link to comment
cbosdell March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Biz, you mean Terri? So far no sue, looking good. You jinxed it! Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 If the point of this episode was to make us hate RIB even more for their treatment of Mercedes then mission accomplished. Mercedes constantly was shafted, but now we're supposed to believe that it's only because Rachel 'needed' it more as the more pathetic one? 3 Link to comment
Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 Aw, the first Finn mention. They're doing a better job of this episode without him than I expected, but he's still missed. Link to comment
camussie March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) Didn't like Will saying the arts are more important than cheerleading. I think both are worthy things for kids to get involved in. Edited March 21, 2015 by camussie 3 Link to comment
spiritof76 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I'm enjoying this more than I expected. 3 Link to comment
Hana Chan March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 So Will needs to recruit a male lead for the choir? When he's got two perfectly capable guys in the group already, both of whom are amazing singers? But then he pegged Kurt as gay and Artie needs ramps so obviously neither of them can be a lead singer. This is the kind of stuff that makes me really dislike him. And we've got the pattern set of Rachel getting what she wants because she can demand it and have people comply. Great. 2 Link to comment
CleoCaesar March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 This episode is simultaneously boring me and reigniting my girlcrush on Lea Michele and her considerable talent. The #1 thing I will miss about Glee is the character of Rachel Berry (and her portrayer). 3 Link to comment
MizStaken March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Well I wonder if she was a thin black woman if that would have affected Will's choices. Just something that occurred to me. I really wanted a reprise of Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat. Link to comment
Demian March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Didn't like Will saying the arts are more important than cheerleading. I think both are worthy things for kids to get involved in. Like this scarcely-watched series finale is ever going to influence high school curricula, ever. Link to comment
camussie March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) Lea is doing a great job but i didn't like the implication that one factor, maybe even a big factor, in Mercedes success was her rivalry with Rachel spurring on her to greater heights. Like this scarcely-watched series finale is ever going to influence high school curricula, ever. Never said it would. I just didn't like Will's snobbery there. marieYOTZ March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Aw, the first Finn mention. They're doing a better job of this episode without him than I expected, but he's still missed. Big time. I can't stop those split seconds where i expect him to appear 2 Link to comment
BizBuzz March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I understand the need for this episode ... however, where is the music? How many songs so far? Link to comment
snarkastic March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 I didn't catch all the pics on Rachel's computer, but one of them is her staring dreamily at a pic of Jesse in her locker, and I find that hilarious for some reason. Link to comment
MizStaken March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) 3 I guess , here comes Blaine! Gee, where have I heard that whole "I'm not gay" spiel from or should I say whom? Edited March 21, 2015 by MizStaken Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Didn't like Will saying the arts are more important than cheerleading. I think both are worthy things for kids to get involved in. Same. I immediately cringed. Honestly, Sue felt totally justified in at the very least being ticked at Will for awhile. Obviously, her ongoing crusade against the arts is ridiculous, but I'd dislike Will too if he tried to act so high and mighty. Link to comment
Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 At least the Blaine scene was blessedly short, and he didn't interact with Kurt. Dalton isn't that far from Lima, so it's plausible that he could be around sometimes. Link to comment
AuxArx March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Not liking this part at all. Why are we re-doing the first season? We saw it already. And the "kids" so obviously look six (seven?) years older. Link to comment
Cranberry March 21, 2015 Author Share March 21, 2015 Now they're talking about Finn and it's just making me sad. Link to comment
fakeempress March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) This Rachel speech never happened in 2009. As in, anachronism. Edited March 21, 2015 by fakeempress Link to comment
FrumiusManxome March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) I find it hilarious that ALL of the glee kids are pretty much over Will's choices already and it's been like 2 days. I had a love/hate relationship with Finn leaning mostly toward the hate side, but I really miss him right now. His absence is very noticeable. Like, I can totally feel the gap.
