Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I've said it before but all of Jill's mirrors are broken.  She can sit through a sermon, repeat it or summarize it, but she absolutely cannot apply it to her life.  It's like she has no idea who she is as a person either in appearance, personality, or behavior.

She needs sils to foot her restaurant outings and dils who understand that Mahmo ALWAYS is entitled to a portion of her sons’ paychecks.

and to sell in her downline. I can't believe Jill doesn't post about plexus anymore lol. I miss reading her ridiculous claims and super filtered pics!

I can't forget her toe ring on her swollen toes. it looked like her toe would need to be cut off. if she is so modest what's up with toe rings and anklets? Jill is sluttish based on her own description.

"Feet aren't sexual"...Michelle Duggar (although I know several dozen websites that would disagree with her).

Word is out.  Especially after commandeering Tim and Heidi's wedding to do an engagement photo shoot for Sammers and Scarlett O'Bigot.  No one wants to sacrifice their kids to the Rods.

To be honest, considering how harshly the parent generation judges even their fellow evangelicals (Bible translations, pants for women, bacon, name for major holidays, access to further education, knees, debt, quiet use of family planning, to name a few) it'a always a bit of a shock that any of their views line up enough to get married.

In practice (per Jill and Derrick/Jinger and Jeremy) it seems like the actual couples are fine with agree to disagree, as they should be. But after the rants that have come out of Jill Rod, Jim Bob, Michelle, the Bateses, the Maxwells etc. it always surprises me that the parents (who control so much of the marriage market) let these less than perfectly christian (in the Bible according. to Mamho) suitors in the door.

Jill didn’t do so great with their earning potential. Nurie seems to be set up for life of near poverty, and I’m not sure how Kaylee‘s husband is doing.

Evangelicals really do have a whole set of strange restrictions. These people are of course a very extreme example. I had a friend once who was evangelical, but they wore shorts and did all kinds of other mainstream things. She of course homeschooled. But her son absolutely had to get married at 18 because, “How long is he expected to wait?”, meaning he had to have sex. At the time he was just a helper in a computer store. Daughter also married young, but she went into the military as I believe her husband was as well. And she was so extreme that she would not celebrate Christmas because it was biblically not the right date according to her and her preacher husband. I felt bad for her family. She had an older mother who really wanted to celebrate with them, but they would take off camping to the middle of nowhere to avoid it. I always told her she would regret not being with her mother when the day came and her mother was no longer there. It didn’t matter to her.

it’s just weird to me to see that they have the same beliefs, but then branch off and do totally different things. My friend only had two children, even though I never asked her about it I’m assuming there must’ve been birth control. Yet her kids had to marry immediately in order to have sex. Bizarre.

It is perplexing to me too, even semi strict "regular" denominations.  When they say "we are not allowed" they might should say "we choose...".  If every group has their own "allowed" seriously do they think their fellow in the clouds has a book that "he" is checking off?  Doubtful. I am Jewish, Reform.  Few if any "not allowed to" but the Orthodox and especially Hasidic sects of various forms have a lot of those, and they are not the same across the board.  That's where it falls apart for me personally.  They all get mixed up with real religious Policies, shall I say, as in written down somewhere,(and interpreted by various humans to mean different things)  or local customs and traditions that become law in their lives.  YMMV and carry on with what pleases everyone.

Yes, yes they do.   Ooooh you wore pants once, no golden throne for you.   oooh you had 19 kids, you get a bigger throne than the lady who 13 kids.   It's all about being thought extra special by the Big Guy in the Sky.

Please note, none of their check boxes involve things like feed the hungry, house the homeless, aid and comfort the sick.

What really annoys me besides their lack of loving help to others, is that they perform their "Christianity" for the rest of the world. Honestly, I'm not sure how much some of these people actually love the Big Guy in the Sky. Their performances are to show the heathens here on earth how godly they are. And many of us are not buying it! Jill especially seems capable only of loving herself.

Did anyone see the video of the Rods at a Bible museum (I saw it on Reddit) where they're all sitting in the dark watching a presentation?  Of course Jill isn't watching the movie, she's filming herself and panning to her kids watching the movie.  Tessie drew the short straw and had to sit next to Jill.  As Jill films her kids, Tessie apparently didn't get the telepathic "perform!" signal from Jill, so Jill clearly nudges Tessie with her elbow and ta-dahh!  Tessie performs her big giggle/smile right on cue.  The saddest part is, it looked like Tessie was actually concentrating on whatever she was watching to where she was able to tune out Jill and her stupid camera but Jill had to make sure to capture the fact that Tessie was, indeed, having the time of her life in some dark dusty old museum.

It must be a living hell in that house.  Not one of those kids has a moment of privacy or agency to do what they want - they have to know that Jill is always lurking around like a dark creepy shadow, and knowing that at any second they are going to be yanked away from whatever they might be doing to do a proper cheese for the camera.  Their ability to concentrate on anything must be less than zero seconds.  I suppose that's how Jill wants it but my gosh, those kids are doomed.

Oh, the second saddest part was that Janessa and Sofia were being pulled around in a stroller.  Probably so Jill could claim that they were young enough to get in free.

Yes, I saw what you are talking about and you nailed it. The only time these kids get a breather is when Jill and David are on vacation, which thankfully is often. I can't imagine living life without privacy.

I think it was a wagon, not a stroller but I'm sure the aim was as you said.

Again, give the illusion that they are small children pay nothing or a discount price. And I doubt that place is that big. I might see an older child in a wagon at a zoo (out here Brookfield is HUGE that I want a wagon) or something like that.

I don’t think that place is very big at all.

No, I'm sure it isn't. I never even heard of the place and looks like there isn't that much to it. This isn't the Ark Experience or something on that level.

Just Jill and David showing their kids once again how to lie, cheat, and steal from others (even “godly” Christian businesses) when it saves THEM a few bucks. Sickening.

We've seen Jill put the younger girls into the baby seat in shopping carts.  A couple of years ago, they were in Sam's Club or similar and she grabbed one of Caroline's Carts (the larger wheeled carts with seats meant for shopping with disabled children or adults unable to walk) and was pushing them around as though they were special needs.  She has no common sense and even less sense of decency.

Jill and her family went to some kind of Bible museum. And I think went soul winning with new little cards. Philip was there so I guess he's home for good. so much for 1 rod kid escaping Jill's clutches.

Jill can't stop filming and her kids have to perform for mommy dearest all the time.

I bet Sam and Phil paid for the tickets and surely lunch or coffee for all afterwards.

Every time Jill showed David he didn't smile.

Mansfield is less than an hour from the barndo.

I am sure people felt guilty seeing Jill's unhealthy looking kids and took the tracts out of sympathy.

I wouldn't. I would take one look at her well fed self and not. Then again, if it were only the kids.....

I just wonder how they gave away 300 tracts? I suppose they left them on unanswered doors, then went to a mall or something. I think they greatly exaggerate their numbers.

Sticking them under the wiper blades on windshields in a parking lot seems to be popular around here.  They probably did that.

If they handed them out at the Bible Museum, wouldn't that be preaching to the choir?  I doubt many atheists or even non-Christians are paying those admission prices.

I suspect people take a tract, make vaguely interested noises and agree that of course they might be interested in attending a service (on the 32 of never). Then Jill gets to make another bragging post about how she saved a random store worker or laundromat visitor and we never hear from the new convert again.

It seems like all they ever do is preach to the choir. No idea why anyone pays them as “missionaries” for doing that.

I wonder how Lord Daniel is doing these days? 😀

Did Jill recently say their intentional day of rest was Sunday?

The museum is closed sunday/monday and I believe their Pastor said the church went out this past Saturday "soul winning" and inviting folks to church.

Even their own church doesn't use rod printed tracts.
