Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Shoulder pads, oversized blazers, stirrup pants, big hair, blue eyeshadow...we were totally rocking it in the 80's. 🔥

If Jill put an outfit together using the above items, I couldn't even hate on her that much because at least she'd be sticking to one theme.  It's when she breaks out the cowboy boots, shiny fabrics, ratty extensions and rhinestones that I wonder what it is she sees when she looks in the mirror.

Jill sees the most beautiful, intelligent, stylish, competent woman in the world. What else would her mirror dare show her?

Because she has bad taste. You can shop on a budget and get nice things.

Jill has poor taste and absolutely refuses to admit that she needs to size up.  I've known more than a few women who will not wear a garment if the label indicates it is a larger size than she wants to be, no matter how well it fits.  Jill seems to be one of those who is convinced she is a size 12 (or whatever) and will not even try on a larger size.

Petite refers to height not size/weight. That’s why there’s a range in sizes in petite options.

True, but she is not a size 12 on average. It does depend on the cut, but looking at how tight everything she wears is, I think she might need a 14 at least.

As a petite myself, I am aware. She's about 5'7". She apparently bought a maxi petite dress so it was shorter on her. It looked awful.

True, but Jill is not 5'3" or less which is usually the cutoff for petite sizing.  The garment will not fit properly with the hems, waistline, bust, etc not hitting at the proper place.

She’s hippie and busty, and her arms aren’t that small either. She does look tall compared to a lot of people, so I can’t see her in anythimg petite.

I am 5‘11“, but busty. I still have to wear a large top. People tell me I am too thin, but I still need to wear a large. I can see Jill squeezing into a small because that’s what all of her daughters wear. And I think I’ve seen petite labels on some of the clothes she was selling. Tessie especially looks taller, but I think she wears petite shirts as well. All the clothes are probably Salvation Army anyway – except for wherever Jill shops. Gawdy Is Us.

Why doesn't Jill just buy the correct size then sew in a label that says 12P.   Women's clothing is all over the place anyway and people would believe it.   More likely to believe it in fact because the clothes would fit.   By cramming herself into a too small size it just emphasizes she is most definitely not that size.

Thanks to the pandemic, I had to give up a closet of clothes in 10 petite. I'm still petite, but no long a ten. I've managed to lose some weight but a ten waist will probably never fit again unless it's elastic all around. It was sad to see the older stuff go, but age has an alarming way of repositioning body parts. Jill will find this out eventually. If she doesn't pay attention, she'll split a seam in public.

I'd love to see a public split

I used to be that person. I thought it was better then sizing up and I'd look worse if I did. I finally gave up in my late 20s tired of tight clothes and having to replace my pants from ripping all the time. I was surprised not only did it feel better I looked better. I wish I had known sooner.

Sam and Gabe built this new area for what appears to be a new teevee while Jill was on her "work trip."

And from Jill's latest radio broadcast, she demonstrates her great compassion.

"Some people suffer from bitterness because God doesn’t strike down the wicked. We have to remember that they will burn forever."

Where is this in the home?  Where the map was?

(edited)

But they don't watch TV. The pretending is over on the "we don't have TV". No map is going to cover that thing.

Jill is filming this at midnight. Weeping that her children accomplished what she told them to do while she was on her "business trip".

On Jill's dream board when she showed her new office was a picture of a real fireplace.

Wonder which other items on mama's dream board will appear at the barndo this year while Jill cries poor and begs for money.

Geez, and you just know that thing has Fox News blasting all day long. They wouldn’t dare venture to the Catholic channel.

Weight definitely shifts as you get older. I’ve always been kind of busty, but now I have skinny arms and legs. My weight goes to the middle. So when people say I’m too thin, that’s what they are looking at. I haven’t had a flat stomach since baby number one.

Jill claims to weep over a variety of issues, but the thing that brings real tears to her eyes, is a new, free to her, possession. She worships stuff!

I'll bet she sat in her little business office and designed this thing down to the last piece of stone. It looks just like the one in the photograph on her Dream Board. I wonder how much time and money Gabe and Sam spent making Mama's dream come true so she could photograph herself weeping tears of joy.

Is that an in-ground pool with a bridge over it on Jill's  board? I'm waiting to see how she'll get that for free. I won't bet against it happening.

I really need to start a Dream Board and put it out for everyone to see.

I'm sure the thing wasn't cheap. Where do they get the money? And if she manages an in ground pool, I will lose it.

Can anyone tell what else is on that vision board? I can only see a house with a pool. A bridge and a moat is my dream for them. And throw in a couple of alligators.

Being on the top of plexus  pyramid. Oops. Be on top of the mlm pyramid and make great monthly passive income.

Jill does love her material things, doesn't she? I feel like there is a Bible verse warning against that. But I guess that doesn't apply to gahdly, humble Jilly bean.

When they finished the kitchen remodel Jill posted she was blessed and content.

Since then they have added the living room/upstairs attic addition. jill has redone her bedroom a few times. Nursery turned into toddler room for a 6yr old and then to Jill's office. Print shop had second floor added. New front entry and foyer area redone. Shutters and garage door painted in Jill's signature "distressed" look. New coffee bar and coffee seating area. New shed. Now new raised garden beds and new fake fireplace with new giant TV.

Guessing Jill wasn't all that content.

Poor Sam.   All he has to describe himself is his age and the number he is in the family.   No interests, no likes/dislikes.   Just numbers.   Jill has so stunted her children with her narcissism.

And Jesus..... it really is sad that there is nothing else. He could have said performing music in church at least.

A bit late to the party, I just finished Death in the Downline. Holy crap, what a fun read!  And soooooo accurate in characterization.

@Lady Edith - thanks to your reminder, I reserved this book at my library and it just came in! I've got a lot of books on hand to read, but this one will move to the top of my list when I finish the book I'm reading (Snowbirds by Christina Clancy).

The large, heavy custom staircase that Jill had to have was the focal point of the family (Dave's) room. The staircase has some competition now.

Is this fireplace as big as it looks? Did Sam and Gabe pay for all the materials? Is there an electric heater in it?

It looks electric in the videos.  They'd have had to build a chimney to vent a wood burner.  A large brick fireplace like that would cost at least 3 grand, BTW.  No way Jill paid for it herself.  I presume the boys and SIL were commanded to produce the cash as part of the 'Mama didn't get to go on a cruise, she must be appeased' plan.

Having seen Dave's 'skils' in electrical work, I hope they didn't do the install themselves.

pretty much.   Something that big was necessary to soothe her hurt feelings.   Can you imagine living in that house while she was ranting about how Satan stopped her from going on that cruise that she so deserved?   The kids were doing the usual buying her stuff, telling her how wonderful it was, none of it was working.   Then she started complaining about not having a nice fireplace and they got the hint what was needed.
