I'll take the musical over the Life and Death Brigade montage. The musical was at least horrible and it shed light on Lorelai's feelings, even if it was done with the subtlety of a sledge hammer. The Life and Death Brigade montage was just a complete, lame waste of time.

I just watched the revival and I don't have strong feelings about it either way..like I didn't with the show in general, LOL. I watched out of habit. So I wasn't mad about the Paul thing like others..I didn't find it funny though, just very weird.

I've never cared much about Rory's love life..I've always felt like THE couple of the show was Lorelei/Luke and I'm happy they had their happy ending.

I liked Rory and Jess when they were together, but they dated briefly when they were in high school so I've never seen them as endgame material. IMO her relationship with Logan was her most significant because they dated as adults, for quite some time and lived together, but it was too messy to be endgame material too. I'm fine with her ending up alone but the parallel they wanted to do with the last scene didn't work for me at all because the situations are too different. Lorelei was 16, didn't have her parents' support and Rory's dad was 16 as well. Rory is an adult, can count on her mom, grandma, friends and Logan is an adult so he might be ready and want to take responsibility in a way her dad wasn't.

This is me. I'm so so so happy with everything re: Lorelai in the revival, that I can't even be bothered to get mad at the fact that Rory is THE WOOOOOOORST. She can be the worst while I ignore her and pay attention to Luke and Lorelai being A+ entertaining, and lovely, and adorable.

Yeah,  minority,  I thought the Paul thing was funny if I didn't think about it too much.

I really enjoyed Lorelai.  I liked the therapy scenes.

The funeral made me cry.

I honestly take it like I take the Veronica Mars movie.   I didn't need it,  but I really enjoyed it.  It was fun for me to visit Stars Hollow again.

Even before Logan, that's a guy she'd been forgetting for two years, three by the time the show ended. It's not that I spent a lot of energy on it, but it was assy. Also, what's wrong with Paul that he didn't get what was happening for three years?

I finally finished the GG revival and I liked it overall which is weird because when I did my GG rewatch earlier this year I found out I disliked pretty much everyone the second time around.

I liked the Luke/Lorelai stuff as well as Lorelai's arc. I liked Emily's arc even though I hate how mean she is sometimes, particularly to Lorelai (and Luke, by extension). Though it was in character so I can't be too annoyed about that. Rory remains THE WORST and I don't care who she ends up with. Never did. The musical number was ridiculous and I can't believe how much time they wasted on it. The running jokes with forgetting Paul and the 30-something club were SO bad and super annoying. But the nostalgia of everything else, coming back to a show after nearly ten years, was nice. Felt like wearing a pair of comfy old shoes.

Sounds perfect to me.  I've never been as invested in Rory's life anyway.  As long as they didn't screw up Luke and Lorelai and Emily I know I will be good.  Plus I actually liked Bunheads and still love Sutton Foster in Younger so I have hopes the 10 minute musical interlude won't bore me completely, lol.

This is a treasure. My favorite is CD for sure. One douchy, emo boy bander coming right up. Although WH looks like the undead in her photo which is cool.

For those who watch Timeless its uncanny how much Abigail Spencer looks like Susanna Thompson. I was watching thinking it, but this pic really shows it. I used to think the Arrow casting really nailed it with WH as ST's daughter. But AS & ST resemblance blows them out of the water. Although I do think WH is better with imitating ST mannerisms.

I think I'm going to take a break from reading this board. Part of that's because I'm not enjoying the show as much, it feels more like an obligation to watch so that I can come here and read about it rather than because I actually want to watch the episode. Part of it's because I'm not really a fan of the way people talk to each other any more. My favourite thing about the board was the snark, I like being able to both love a show and criticise it. However, I feel like the snark is moving away from being about the show and the writing and the characters, to being aimed at other posters and not in a jokey way. I also think that the tone of posts have gone from 'I disagree' to 'You are wrong and I am right'. I like reading about the different opinions on the show because it's interesting and they have made me change my mind on things, but that's all they are. Opinions.

This board was my first two sided experience with fandom. Every other place on the internet is either fairly one sided unless you already know people (like tumblr and twitter) or too big or too small to actually have a back and forth. I think that this board not only allow for that but also lets conversation thrive, so I'll be sad to walk away from it. Especially considering that I've been here since season 2.

Is anyone going to watch "A Dog's Purpose"?

I barely made it through the first minute of the trailer before I full on ugly cried and clung onto my 11 year old golden retriever for dear life. I think I would really love the movie but my reaction to the trailer makes me think I'm not going to cope watching it.

Jensen Ackles and his wife are the proud parents of twins (boy and girl) as of yesterday..one of which they have apparently named Arrow and the other Zeppelin, ( assuming he's not punking fans). Amell is NEVER going to let him hear the end of it.

I hope he is. Poor kids. They deserve better names lol

The names are Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes.  I suppose they could go by Zep and Ari or Bram and Rhodes

And his eldest daughter is named Justice. I feel like poor Zeppelin doesn't fit the theme.

Justice Jay is her full name but they call her JJ.  Jared has a son named Shepard. So I guess the PadAckles Clan has a Shep and a Zep. LOL.

People magazine referred to the twins by those names so I'm assuming that's their legal names.

Im happy for them as they seem like a nice couple however I do have to say I don't understand why celebrities 9 times out of 10 give their children such unorthodox names. I mean do they not realise their children are the ones who will have to grow up with them.

All I keep thinking about is imagine if they grow up wanting conventional jobs like "Hi I'm Doctor Pilot Inspektor Lee (with a K)" or "I'm your lawyer Axl Duhmael" "Nice to meet you I'm your child's teacher Kalel Cage"

I often wonder if maybe the public names are not their actual real names. I could see why a celebrity might not reveal the actual names to the public.

Actually that would be super smart. I always thought it was just the parents needing to be artistic but it actually makes a lot of sense.

Agreed .   And on a related note,  I don't want kids.   I'm not father material guy.   Yet if I did,  it would be because I want to give them quirky names. And yes,  I have said quirky names at the ready.

Can someone pretty please explain ratings for me.

The very nice Starfish35 posted a link to answer my Shield question so I looked up my other shows and I am confused!

http://www.tvgrimreaper.com/2016/11/28/predictions-week-11-screamqueens-is-certain-to-be-canceled-puregenius-has-been-canceled/2276/

So in this Madam Secretary only has 69% but it has huge smilies and is definitely being renewed. Compared to say HTGAWM and Fresh off the Boat which have a higher % but not as many smilies? I am confused!

Link to comment

Madam Secretary is in its third season. Most of the time, shows in their third seasons will be renewed, even with lower ratings, in order to get more episodes for syndication purposes. (This doesn't apply for shows that haven't had three full seasons.)

HTGAWYM and Fresh Off The Boat are both considered Likely To Be Renewed. It's just that TV Grim Reaper usually doesn't give the "Certain To Be Renewed" status to shows that are getting less than 100% of the network average, with the exception of the third-season shows.  It may be considered a bit arbitrary, and I think he's acknowledged that, but that's the reasoning.

Watched the "Legend of Tarzan" today. It was actually a good movie. I'm surprised it didn't do better. Sure there were wonky parts and some rough plotting, but overall it was a good story I thought. Not a movie to end all time and go up with the greatest of all time. But certainly, it deserved to do a little better in the box office.
I also was reminded how much I love Alexander Skarsgard. He brings such a presence. He really can act without any words. He brings a lot to scenes without needing to rely on scripts. And for me, it really worked for Tarzan who was more of physical being and relied more on less verbal ways of communication. I find his physical acting to be very emotive, especially his eyes.

Are Sloane and Kevin doing well? She's a much better chhoice than Olivia, in that she is obviously invested in her family and she's not an automaton. But I feel it was rash since all three of them are working together and Olivia can bring down shit on both of them.

This is Us Christmas episode was not at all what I expected. But, first of all, was the recording I watched cut off or did they end with

Spoiler

trying to resuscitate Toby? Because there was a shot of Beth comfoting Kate in the promo and I don't remember seeing it on the show. Originally, I thought it was because of the surgery, but now it's obviously about him. And I mean, what's the point of this cliffhanger if it actually is one? The episode is called Last Christmas and Dr. K lived. With the constant foreshadowing of nothing bad happens at Christmas, Toby  clearly bites it. Now, I won't be sad that he's gone, but I didn't want him dead just not present on the show .

I was honestly caught by surprise by the attempted suicide and William's sexuality. Although Tess getting a clear read on it was a terrific moment of levity.

We did it twice on the show. Hee. I love vapid, Hollywood Kevin.  It makes for a great mix with his more sensitive side. Kudos to baby Kevin for the soulful eyes, too.

Olivia sucks even when she's off screen.

Warner Bros & Greg Berlanti Grow ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ Revamp

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros is moving forward with a new incarnation of Little Shop of Horrors, with Greg Berlanti set to direct and Matthew Robinson writing the script. This one will be a musical, a fresh version of the 30-year-old Frank Oz-directed film. That was based on the Roger Corman-directed 1960 low-budget sci-fi campy tale about a clumsy young man who raises a plant, discovers it is carnivorous, and kills to keep it fed. There is a memorable scene with Jack Nicholson as a pain-seeking dental patient in the original, replicated in the musical by Bill Murray. Marc Platt is producing. The 1986 film was scripted by Howard Ashman from his off-Broadway musical, with tunes crafted with his frequent collaborator Alan Menken. Sarah Schechter is exec producer.

John Glenn passing away broke my heart and completed the trio. But he truly felt like one of the last true gentlemen. Just an honest and brave man who did truly unimaginable deeds and made history for all the right reasons. Godspeed John Glenn, RIP.

This is Us, Christmas special surprised me. I so did not see the sexuality twist or the suicide attempt. I also feel pretty dumb for not predicting the bait and switch of Toby v. Dr. K. And I have to say as much as Toby annoys me, i want him offscreen not dead.

And I personally like the casting of Sloane. I find her quirky and approachable. I never appreciate stunt casting which is what it would feel like if Allison Mack was in that role.

I'm was wrong about the potential death because I thought it was going to be the Dad. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Milo's character just yet.

As much as I despise the old person make-up, I do like seeing Mandy Moore acting it out in both timelines. Although she does channel Sally Fields from Brothers and Sisters for me a little too much.

Lastly, I miss seeing more of Jon Huertas on my TV. Damn u Castle (although it was past it's prime) I hope they find more ways to include his character in the storyline bad make-up and all.

For me, I really think the whole cast is just doing an amazing job although Justin Hartley & Sterling Brown are really making their characters fly off the screen. Week after week, I'm drawn to their characters.

Lol, in addition to the ratings, didn't history kind of catch up to them and their characters were going to start dying or something?

Reign was never a real ratings getter. But the cheesy drama was entertaining and the costumes were absolutely stunning. It was definitely a lightweight, and it probably would have been better suited for Cable... so it could have fully indulged in juicy drama. However, I still greatly enjoyed it and will miss it. It definitely was hitting a wall with history interfering with plots and characters dying at inconvenient times. so best to give it a fond farewell. I appreciate when TV networks properly cancel shows giving the showrunners the opportunity to wrap up the story properly.
