And I just realized that the actress that played Viv was Helen Basch from Episodes. I was wondering why she looked so familiar. That makes me more sad that Episodes isn't coming back until 2017.

Last season that was an issue (but I admit it didn't occur to me then, lol)  this season Blaine was only a Zombie for like one episode before he went back to human, so it works for me.

I thought her mom/brother were the weakest pieces of S1, so I was pretty relieved they kinda whisked them away in the first episode. I'm sure it'll come up again...sometime, but I'd be happiest if it happened off-screen. Bro can go to college and Mom can move away.

 

As for the first question: Liv's cellmate (who returned in that coffee shop ep) was a pretty offensive stereotype, regardless of the attempt to make an homage to Orange is the New Black. Then there was the Trophy Wife episode, the social media maven episode, the stripper episode, the romance author episode...in some of those cases, they ended up subverting a few expectations, but not every time and not before spending 99% of the episode denigrating certain types of women. I'd be more likely to give the benefit of the doubt if I didn't have RT's history in the back of my mind (the bungled VM S3 campus rape arc, with the evil feminists trying to frame the frat boys, for example). I think RT/DR are good people and have no intent to harm, but I just think they lack the sensitivity to thread the needle on iffy topics and I'd prefer they just stop. Or hire some people who will call them on their crap and save them from making dumb choices.

It kinda escaped me on an episode-to-episode basis (I had forgotten half of those characters until you mentioned them), but listed like that, there's definitely a pattern. :/ Too bad, especially if, as you tell me, it seems to be a recurring issue with RT. This is the first show of his I watch, so I had no idea.

Two of the best Villians besides Angelus, The Mayor and Faith that the show ever had! Like Statsgirl said they were deliciously Creepy and entertaining! Man Season 2 was one of the best seasons of the show and the Two Part finale was two of my fave episodes

I loved Spike and Dru. They were creepy, crazy, fun villains. I was also not a fan of Buffy and Spike.

Buffy & Angel my all time favorite heartbreak. Too many scenes to recount where they just ripped your heart out. As much as I loved the Angel finale, I have never forgiven SMG for not showing up some way, some how at the end. Even of box of baked cookies would have made me happy.

I shipped Buffy with several people. Not Angel so much. I think the pairing I read the most fic for, oddly enough, was Buffy/Dean Winchester. I would have read more Spuffy fic, but when I went looking for it, well 1) it was a few years after the show ended, 2) strangely, most of what I found was Buffy/unsouled!Spike, which, no, and 3) I ran into some pretty ugly character bashing, particularly where Riley was concerned. And I didn't care for that so much.

Angel I shipped more with Cordy, although I didn't watch much of the show past season two.

I think Liv decided it was better for the safety of her family if they were estranged.  It is odd though since they still live in the same city.  Maybe next year it will come up when keeping them safe will get a lot more complicated. 

 

A lot of those episodes, I felt it was more how Liv reacted on their brans rather than the portrayal of the person that was a stereotype.  I mean what we found out about them in interviews and in talking to friends and co workers treated them as multilayered, but in Liv we often don't see the layers.    I guess I just dismissed those times when it was a bit too much as her eating a concentrated section of the brain rather than realistic depiction of that person's personality.  The librarian turned erotic writer in particular.  That one had no nuance in Liv's reaction, but the woman seemed very complex juggling all these different aspects and expectations in her life, being different people to different people.

Oh noes! I think I might prefer Oliver & Laurel over Angel & Cordy! I loathed that plotline but glad someone enjoyed. Now Dean Winchester, I could see a hook up with Jessica Jones or Sara as a lot of fun. He needs a woman who can out fight and out drink him.

The whole Cordelia and Connor thing repulsed me and ruined her character. VK as Angel's son was horrible casting. Perfect slimeball on Mad Men but I thought he was just terrible on Angel. I just wanted to punch his smug ass face eveytime I saw him. I would have hooked him up with Buffy's sister, Dawn, and fed them both to wolves.

I loved Cordy/Angel. That was pretty much my introduction to shipping and fandom. I still pay visits to my Purple Haven (Stranger Things) board.

I think C/A had amazing potential and I would love to pick Greenwalt's brain for his original S4 plan. As with most f*ucked up things to happen on TV...there's a BTS story

Regarding Buffy and Angel Becoming Part 2 was one of the best episodes of the series and heartbreaking too. Imagine having to kill the person you love to save the world :(

I was at times sympathetic to Sawyer but hated his unwashed nasty selfish self.  So yep, Jack and Kate.  Only I stopped watching before the last season and then I heard it went off the rails so I noped right out of there.

Yeah, that was a little too obvious. EM played Julliet but I thought she was a bit bland. Kate was a major screw up and could get annoying but I always had a soft spot for her.

I liked Kate/Sawyer in the beginning. Then I really started hating Kate and her going back and forth between Jack and Sawyer along with everything else she did. Then Juliet came along and she was awesome. She didn't put up with Sawyer's BS and matched his snark. I remember not wanting them together, then when we did see them. I loved them. I'm glad Juliet ended up as his soulmate in purgatory or wherever that stupid finale had them.

I loved Spike and Dru as a couple and Spike by himself before becoming Neutered. I never enjoyed the Spuffy but still was okay with Spike. I never missed him but never hated him. I enjoyed his scenes with Joyce. I've always loved Dru. She's crazy and that's all I ask.

I also enjoyed Angel/Cordy. I could see where the relationship grew and though I'm a huge bangel fan I think in a lot of ways their relationship was more organic and you could see it grow other than just "I love you cause I love you". Buffy and Cordelia were once very similar and it's easy to see that Angel was attracted to the same kind of girls who looked shallow but grew into something greater. I feel robbed of that ship to this day.

I was iffy on if he should be in a relationship but I thought they resolved it in an excellent way.  Worked out all my objections.  On the subject, it's not a romantic ship but I LOVED Ten and Donna.  Not her first appearance but when she became a regular.  Best companion of the new series.  (Though Cap Jack was in competition, lol)

I basically watched the show for them. One of the best pairings romantic/sexual chemistry-wise I've ever seen. They've managed to make a sex scene between Lucrezia and her husband while Cesare had to watch for plot reasons all about them, that was extremely well done.

 

I'm glad the show was canceled in time so I didn't have to watch this relationship being destroyed.

 

As for favorite ships...

Most of them actually didn't end up together. The only OTP of mine that did are Logan/Veronica, and only thanks to a crowdfunded movie. The others, like Buffy/Angel (sniff! It's probably my #1 all time OTP), Doctor/Rose (well, they did get a happy ending of a kind, but very bittersweet), Starbuck/Apollo (this one got ruined like no tomorrow, like the whole show though, so I'll never ever rewatch it). 

 

Right now, I'm shipping one anime pairing that's probably never going to become canon (don't think you guys watch anime, so no reason to mention it), Kastle on Daredevil (that's Frank/Karen), Greg/Rebecca on Crazy Ex and Cassie/Cole on 12 Monkeys. But I'm not THAT invested in any of them. I guess if Daredevil was on a standard weekly mode I could invest more into it.
