S07.E18: The Good, the Bad, and the Oscar

I didn’t get the ambush on the new rookie. Did this gang just want to kill a random cop? Why not just follow one home from the station? Why did they pick this cop? Of course Monica and Oscar live on to create more chaos.

That's what it seemed like. Being on the dating app did allow them to set up in ambush. Although they did a particularly poor job at that.

Now we know why so much stuff goes down in Mid-Wilshire since the station goes full Smitty at night. For a second night the dream team was off dreaming. That goes beyond Sergeant Chen. That watch commander and station commander should be relieved of their commands. Perhaps Lieutenant Grey, should be doing lieutenant duties instead of sitting in the watch commander's office with bars instead of stripes on his uniform.

I guess machine-gun armed mercenary aircrews work on profit sharing speculation. The meeting with Garza, I know you have left LAPD culture but "state police", in California. Like the old Highway Patrol show intro, they might be called different things in many states, CHP or Highway Patrol please.

How exactly did the helicopter know exactly what time to pick-up Oscar?

For cripes sake, I was hoping we wouldn't see Monica again this season but the odds of that were slim to none.  I'm not even going into how she's getting this deal considering she stole the information she's blackmailing the government with in the first place.

Again, don't care about Chenford but I did feel bad for Lucy for having that bunch of slugs on her now watch and yes, how are folks in leadership positions not being removed because of squad 54's behavior?

Miles getting randomly selected to pay for the sins of the LAPD in arresting a gang made no sense but so much of this show doesn't make sense either.

Great question.

I thought Lucy had whipped them into shape by the end of the episode when they showed up to rescue Miles? No? Wasn’t that her crew that backed her up?

Was the gang previously arrested by the LAPD? I thought it was just that Miles had put “cop” on his dating profile before Tim advised him not to because “…people have very strong opinions about cops. Some people hate us, won't give you a chance.” And then Miles was going to delete it, but the got called away. Right?
And then I assumed Miles’ “date” was just catfishing for any cop for her gang to attack.

That was far from whipped into shape, it was a sign of supervisorial weakness. After being caught the night before they all went back to the sleeping garage with nothing done.  And then with an officer needs help call, where everybody rolls towards the fire the guard didn't even have them up and rolling. But the sergeant who did not establish herself has to detour to wake them up with follow me instructions.

Texas praising the squad for his rescue was just the story of a character not knowing the truth and a production  trying too hard to be cute

These night shift fools are ridiculous and so is their leadership.  Even if metrics and oversight are very lax, how do these officers end shifts that were filled with active calls, but they never have any reports to turn in?  Or were they working as they were supposed to under the previous Lt, but now that Lucy is in as the newbie, they started the Parking Garage Sleep Society?

And is Lucy not going to report this?  They are failing to do the job.  They don't lie about why they failed or show up and do a poor job like Seth did, but they are not performing, full stop.

Good Lord, why why why allow this Oscar and Monica madness to continue?  Cartoon villains.  Monica is not God, but they write her like she is.  And fun fact, that government worker that Monica stole the super-secret intel from is the real life husband of the actress who plays Luna, Gray's wife.

I don't want to see another Hawley on screen ever for the rest of my life.  No more stupid documentaries with Alexi Hawley as the director/producer, no more Rodge (Alexi's son), and now we have the drone kid, who was fine in the role and I can't imagine he will appear again, but let the Hawley nepotism END.

All LA criminals are dumb, which pretty much explains how our incompetent police heroes manage to get them (except if their name is Oscar or/and Monica).
The plan of that gang to hit on LPDA was a masterpiece of stupidity.
Of course there are  dumber people, like the mom who gave her son to an unknown lady claiming she is police so they can go and hunt a dangerous criminal together. Or that idiot who was catfished by his own wife.
Or that helicopter crew hired by Oscar.
And we continue with the even dumber, which seems to be the American government. Although I am really curious how this mastermind of crime, Monica, is going to live from now on. Did she get immunity for life and future crimes?
But let's end with the DUMBEST, which apparently is all of us still watching this show! Well... dumbest or masochists, or maybe both. Oh well, little guilty pleasures in life, right?  ;)

I'm not going to pretend the Monica story isn't ridiculous and annoying as a whole but I got the impression she was threatening to release the info to the public and it was dangerous and/or damaging enough that they decided it wasn't worth the risk. Damaging info is damaging info even if it's illegally obtained and released by an evil nutbar lawyer. I'm still not 100% sure what exactly Monica gained by her multi-season sinister plotting (money but there had to be easier ways) but this I sort of got.

Because some of us are apparently hoping for a miracle where TPTB actually get a clue and make show that actually makes sense.

I truly love this show because it’s so wacky.  Truly a guilty pleasure.

So do all nightshift cops find a random place to sleep all night while their Lt works the streets ?

AAARRRRGGGHHHH!

Just end it! You could've finished Oscar, but no!

And then you bring back Monica in the stupidest, most contrived manner.

Can someone just put a bullet in both of them.

Show, just stop. STOP. STAAAAAAAHHHP. We've already had one unstoppable, indestructible, non-carcerable redhead too many. At this point, I don't care if she and Oscar get tossed in the LaBrea Tar Pits or thrown into the fires of Mount Doom. Just someone, anyone, please make them go away. For good.

Okay, so now I have two wishes for that genie that Nathan found.

Writers.  Do you read these threads?  WE ARE ALL SICK OF MONICA.  I don't know what scandalous information the actress has on the creators of the show - maybe something on the level of what her character had on the government that they didn't want her to leak?  Let her go away and NEVER COME BACK.

Is it possible that they think keeping Monica in the wings is a tribute to the late Annie Wersching?
