Starts typing angry email to See’s Candy about how much I hate their awful candy which I eat on a monthly basis.

If they send me a coupon, then I suppose I’ll just have to accept it. Sigh.

The trick is to write them more in sorrow than in anger, about how their usually sterling product somehow fell short the last time you purchased. Just sit back and watch those coupons roll in.

I never even thought about doing this. Do you do it through their websites?

I'm smelling new hobby!!!

Oh yes!  Consumer Packaged Goods Companies have whole teams dedicated to tracking and answering complaints and feedback (ask me how I know about all the complaints when we changed the Sweetarts bunnies 🤣) If you don’t like something, tell them.  Usually on their site under “contact us,” or they have customer service numbers.

I was 40 before I looked at a credit card application, and had no idea  what any of the jargon meant.

I had a teacher in high school that took at section of time and taught us about how to open a bank account. How to write a check. How to do basic taxes. How to do basic stuff that you need in the outside world. That's a good teacher

I went out to lunch with friends today. I couldn’t join in, but they were day drinking cosmos and dirty martinis.

Houseguest and I went to The Friendly Toast for brunch after our shop. I had a Bohemian Raspberry-elderflower liqueur, raspberry puree, lemonade and champagne. It was delicious.

I worked in a bank and had to teach adult women who had lost their husbands how to do everything. They had no idea what loans , credit cards or mortgages they had or how to pay them. They were scared and freaked out. I can’t imagine trying to deal with that in the midst of grief.

She's turning out to be one of the biggest villains this season! He must not have any doubts, he must not ever be homesick, he must not ever be uncomfortable with how things are done in the US...

And he must never, ever tell her that he feels sad or homesick, because it makes HER feel bad. She is the worst.

This is why Mr. Traveler and I both know everything about our finances and how things are set up (well, maybe not the $100 I once won in a basketball bracket, but you know).  It's why we went ahead and prepaid our funerals, and made sure our son knows where all our papers are.
