Oh, I can't do the Russians, good for you! My husband gave me a Barnes and Noble gift card. So of course I had to buy some books. Even though I purged several hundred this summer. And my to-read piles are teetering. I haven't been able to concentrate between all the Mom drama and holidays and being sick, so I'm hopeful that I can start reading more. I usually have a goal of 52 a year. Last year I only did 42. Sad face. But I would love to read The Man in the Iron Mask (I love Dumas) and maybe Barry Lyndon. Vanity Fair is one of my all time favorites and I always wonder if its a one off or if Thackeray is unmined treasure.

I've been pretty bored with TV lately (IKR!!) so I've been reading the books from my past like The Shell Seekers. H'mm. I loved it then, but now? Ick, actually

I like these guys.

Right? The TV is sitting right there, taunting me! When I was working I was able to read a lot more because I was on public transit four hours a day. Now I can do whatever I want! Too many distractions!

I like these guys too.

I used to read every night when I got into bed, but now I’m an idiot and watch a show on my iPad. I know it’s not good for sleeping, but oh well.

I still read for about 15 minutes in bed, or more if I'm not too tired, so I like books that have short chapters or those big paragraph breaks. If I read the same sentence three times, I put it aside and turn off the lights.

Down to 441 lbs.

I worry about take home portions.  I knew several people who ate fine in front of others, but took a lot home, and ate later or sneak eating at night.

He's down 200 lbs.  260 lbs to go, some will go with skin removal.

I'm so happy for him and his wife.  I hope he keeps progressing, and gets and stays healthy.    I think Jonathan really needs a lot of therapy, his family was so dysfunctional.

Month 12, shopping at an outlet store.  He looks so much smaller.

(The start of Too Large, I think the original Vannessa and Meghan episode is on next).

I would read for a couple of hours before bed but now maybe a half hour. I read it by Stephen King in 2 days.

Well, I thought Jonathan was a very refreshing change from the nasty sorts we've seen in the past. He didn't live in a house full of dog hair and filthy aquariums. He worked hard and wasn't a whiner. I wish him well and hope that one day he gets to go back to being an EMT and have the family he's wanted for so long.

Episode was  too long.  Maybe 90 minutes would work best. They have too much on the front end and too little at the back end. They should probably film for 18 months. This pattern has become too frustrating for me over the years and I’ve avoided watching the same thing over and over. That said I really liked this couple and was happy to see his success.  The ones who tend to do best on this show are the ones like him who had a serious career.

Unfortunately, she did.  I read that she died a couple of months after the episode aired.

I hope the tragedy of her life circumstances are now eclipsed by her peaceful rest in Heaven.

The residual consequences of her profound level of abuse as a child for years on end were simply too much for her mind and body to endure longer than it did.

Hopefully, the progress she made at the end of her life allowed her children and other loved ones to honor her with the knowledge that she was strong enough to fight to the end and succeed in trying to become healthy.
