I stayed home. Probably for the best. Best case scenario, I won’t have to agonize about this because there won’t be a reason to march against tyranny. Of course, I do NOT mean that tyranny would have won.

I found an event that was happening at the civilized hour of 2pm (I don't do mornings).  So we went.  And there were hundreds of folks on our suburban corner.  Signs, cheerleaders, lots of cars honking encouragement as they drove by.  It was really nice and I'm glad I went.

I should have worn a hat, though.  I will now have a sunburned part.

I've been watching a movie I recorded instead of the news channels, but I was happy to read here that most networks aren't airing the 'perade'. I have been checking in now and then with CNN and MSNBC (definitely not Fox News!) and it looked like they were showing a bit of the parade now and then as part of a split screen with other -- probably more important -- news, such as the latest from Iran, the manhunt going on in MN, and -- I was happy to see -- a lot of footage of the protests going on around the country.

From what I did see of the parade, it looked kind of sparse. Some soldiers marching in groups or spaced out across the route, a military vehicle, another, pause, another, and so on.  Definitely not a huge pageant-type event like I thought it was supposed to be.  And, I didn't see a lot of people along the route (although the stands behind the VIPs ( :( ) were full.  Were those the ticketed spots?  Finally, maybe it was my imagination, but Trump looked kind of bored.  I guess after the third tank it got kind of monotonous.

Not surprising, since he has the attention span of a gnat.

I had a baptism to attend today and the party afterward and was gone for hours, and away from social media for a change. One of the guests who arrived a bit later to the party told me about the Minnesotans who were killed. 

When I came home, I headed straight here and was happy to read about our members who attended No Kings protests in their areas. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

A local news site said there were a few thousand there. I don't think there were that many by the time I got there, but they started well before the time mentioned on a website. There were people coming and going. I went to the Akron protest/rally. I was sitting on some steps outside a building, and at one point, two young women came up to make sure I was okay, lol. They were so kind, offered me a bottle of water. I just said that I was sitting there, because I couldn't stay. I also signed a petition concerning one of the bills here.

I saw pics of the "crowds" at the parade and they aren't even close to the number of people at protests.  He will of course lie and say it was the biggest crowd ever but we all know this is such an embarrassment for him.

His best friend apparently confirmed that he's a trump supporter, but I don't have a link to confirm that. It is obvious that he isn't a Democrat, though.

I'm glad I went, too. I wish I'd thought to take pictures when we first drove past everyone. There were other people taking pictures with each other, and a lot of cars were honking.

I kept wondering if he was going to get the same kind of "crowd" that he got at his 2017 inauguration, or his inauguration earlier this year.

I'm glad the turnout was pathetic, and I'm glad that barely anyone's showing hte parade. Take that, you self-absorbed asshole.

I am not going to assume every post I see on FB is accurate so I am wondering if anyone here can confirm - apparently throughout the parade announcers (at the parade not on the channels carrying the parade) were advertising things like energy drinks and crypto currency.  Honestly, that can't possibly be the case?  Not even a Trump Perade would be this crass?

I don’t know about that but apparently people on social media reported that people were ordering the free tickets to the parade with no intention of using them. And reports of ads on Craigslist for seat fillers to sit in the seats behind him

AP reported they were selling maga hats and other merch before you entered the event. I’ve seen some footage where the stands were pretty empty. If I had disposable income, I might have bought tickets to ensure they were empty.

When he did that event with the military the other day there were reports of Trump merch being sold so advertising at this parade supposedly for the army is totally on brand for Trump.

Those soldiers looked like they would have liked to be anywhere but marching that parade route.  And I don't call what they did marching.  They were walking.
