t7686 November 5 Share November 5 (edited) Can we not with Tommy? Jesus, she’s almost made her kids orphans like 3xs this season alone. As a half orphan with an identical twin sister, this is triggering ME lol plus I just think Tommy has been through enough. Like she was just there to help a friend, can’t it just stay that? I liked it better when TK was the sacrificial lamb. that said, Nancy and Carlos were fun until it got dark. Owen’s storyline was… something. Odd that the second brother’s death is what’s doing it and not the first one. Overall, I’m not loving this season. Edited November 5 by t7686 6 Link to comment

Owen riding out of the barn after the damn thing blew up was absurd. It would have been just as dramatic, and far less ridiculous, if he made it out of there seconds before the explosion. Not a lot going on this episode. The kid trapped in the police car and the guy trapped under the vending machine both felt like afterthoughts. Too much focus on inter-department drama. I'd prefer shows like this keep the focus on the emergencies the characters are employed to deal with, not the ones affecting their personal lives. Thanks. 8 Link to comment

Crashcourse November 5 Share November 5 I didn't understand why the guy with his arm trapped in the vending machine didn't ask the woman who was standing there to call 911. He was stupid. 4 Link to comment

I think his final moments with Nancy are what prompted her to go see Mateo. The parallel was that he was too afraid to ask for help. Edited November 6 by iMonrey 1 Link to comment
possibilities November 6 Share November 6 So the horse was acting wild with everyone, but all it took to calm him wsa for OWEN to tell his secret? I don't like what they are doing with Tommy,. Yes, tell women to get screened, but... I don't want this show to be a chemo/death saga. Will Mateo and nancy adopt her kids when she's gone? I don't know. This show is not fun anymore. 1 Link to comment

Jillybean November 6 Share November 6 (edited) As someone who has been getting screening mammograms for 15 years, including one year when I was directed to proceed with a diagnostic mammogram, and then an ultrasound (which resulted in the all-clear), I have questions about this episode's depiction of breast cancer testing and diagnosis. Are breast lumps able to be seen in photos? Can one simply make a call and schedule a mammogram at the same date, time, & place as a friend? (This question is facetious, it certainly doesn't work that way in my experience!) Could Tommy already have been diagnosed with breast cancer based on a screening mammogram? Or are we to assume that she went through a second mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, etc. in record time (without mentioning any of those steps to Nancy)? My questions are sincere, because I found this genuinely confusing. TV doesn't always have to reflect reality, but it's almost irresponsible to portray it this way. Speaking of, the rather upbeat, silly music that played the whole time that guy had his hand inside the vending machine was completely dissonant with the outcome of that story. That said, I knew the machine would end up crushing him. What a tired, lazy storyline. They couldn't come up with a better case to show Nancy how to ask for support? Infie Friday at 05:19 AM Share Friday at 05:19 AM You can sometimes see a dimple or a bulge where there is a lump, yes. That being said, most of the time the answer is no. 1 Link to comment

Yes, but it is a late sign once the lump has become very large. (This question is facetious, it certainly doesn't work that way in my experience!) It depends on the facility. The free standing privately run for-profit facilities usually don't have full schedules and will take people the same day without a doctor's referral. Most likely, she would have been told it was "possibly" cancer and not been given a definitive diagnosis until she had further testing, but yes with large lumps that are already late-stage cancer, it is possible to tell from just the mammo. 2 Link to comment

I'm pretty sure that Judd and Grace would be named guardians. It was Judd that Tommy left a message for when she thought she was going to die in the gas cloud. I'm not experienced with horses, but surely it would have been better for Owen to start out by grooming Thunder to earn his trust, before trying the whole cleaning his hooves thing. 1 Link to comment

Seriously this is the last season and there are only 6 episodes left and Gina Torres's final storylines are her serious boyfriend breaking up with her and then her possibly dying of cancer. Can't she go out with a fun storyline? Although Paul's really bad heart problem was magically fixed, so who knows. Also I can't believe in a show called 9-1-1 no one thought to call 9-1-1 when the barn was in fire and it burned to the ground. 7 Link to comment

When the firehouse idiots showed up to rebuild the barn, I very much wished it was going to be like on The Simpsons when Ned Flanders lost his home, and the town rebuilt it. The catch was that the townsfolk had no idea what they were doing, and the rebuilt house promptly collapsed in on itself. The one nice thing about Owen's guilt with regards to Robert is it gives a great example of why you don't ask a relative you've only just met, and clearly is not emotionally capable of handling things, to help you die before your fatal disease kills you. 3 Link to comment
tennisgurl 14 hours ago Share 14 hours ago Really? They're giving Tommy a cancer story? Right before the show ends? Why? What is the point? Either she miraculously gets better or she dies and leaves her poor kids orphans, both of which are a sucky way to end the show. Again, why?! 2 1 Link to comment
