possibilities October 23 Share October 23 I liked that Stephen pointed out that golfers showering together is not a thing, they're not a team like many other sports. I haven't heard anyone else mention that, and it makes the whole story come off as even more of a personal fantasy of the guy telling the Arnold Palmer story. I also liked the cold open avbout the trading card freudian slips. 8 Link to comment
Annber03 October 25 Share October 25 ...wow, I REALLY feel like I need to take a shower after that clip of Tucker Carlson going on about spanking. Holy fuck, that was CREEPY. Loved Stephen just mocking the hell out of him. 11 2 Link to comment

Me too, Stephen. But Stephen's bit about Barack and Michelle arguing over how to load the dishwasher was delightful, even though, as he openly admitted, he needs to work on his Michelle impersonation: Edited October 29 by shapeshifter 2 1 Link to comment

shapeshifter November 7 Author Share November 7 (edited) I was half asleep while watching last night, but it was therapeutic, and I know it’s silly, but I’m claiming his mention of people who write limericks as a shoutout because I’ve been posting them daily for many months in the NYT Wordle Review, reflecting a mindset similar to Stephen's monologues, i.e.: nytimes.com/shared/comment/430ad9 and nytimes.com/shared/comment/42vf4u And I don’t know how Dickerson was still functioning at that point with skipping at least one night’s sleep, but he was amazingly coherent. I just rewatched the 3 segments and didn’t hear Dickerson say that. Did you mean to type someone else’s name? At about the 2 minute mark of the 3rd segment of the interview, Dickerson chokes up thinking about what to say to his kids, but then speaks so eloquently. I swear I did not plagiarize this👆 comment, but, after posting the above links and comment, in trying to find out how old Dickerson's kids are now (maybe 14 like Stephen's son was in 2016?) I just ran across this headline: "CBS anchor chokes up discussing how he will explain Trump’s victory to his children" followed by: “Colbert asked: ‘How would you explain that to a 14-year-old today? How would you explain this election?’ “‘I’ll try not to think about my boys because,’ Dickerson said before choking up. “After a brief pause, he regained his composure to explain his concerns.” (the-independent.com/tv/news/john-dickerson-cries-stephen-colbert-trump-election-b2643608.html) Edited November 11 by shapeshifter 2 Link to comment

The gop would not do either one. Right. 23 hours ago, Hanahope said: Dickerson thinks the GOP will help the working people is a nice fantasy. He does say it's a fantasy, starting at the 1:28 minute mark in the 2nd segment: Quote AND IF YOU WANT TO FANTASIZE FOR A MOMENT, WHAT ABOUT A WORKING DEMOCRACY. IMAGINE HOW GREAT IT WOULD BE IF THE TWO PARTIES HAD A REAL FIGHT IN THE POLITICAL STRUCTURE OVER HOW TO MAKE LIVES BETTER FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN'T BORN INTO PRIVILEGE SO THAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE THE AMERICAN DREAM THROUGH THE ROOTS OF OPPORTUNITY, MANY OF WHICH HAVE BEEN CLOSE DOWN. COLLEGE IS EXPENSIVE, COST OF HEALTH CARE HAVE RISEN REGULAR THAN -- MORE THAN REGULAR INFLATION. A MASSIVE COMPETITION TO HELP THOSE VOTERS WOULD BE GREAT. I think to continue to do what he does, he needs to keep a glimmer of hope alive. That doesn't make him better than someone who's all doom and gloom (more like me, for instance). It's just as my folks used to say: It takes all kinds of people to make the world go 'round. And, by that, I think they meant all kinds of people who were on our team, heh. 4 1 Link to comment
DanaK November 13 Share November 13 (edited) What on earth happened with the audience on last night’s show during Stephen’s monologue? It even threw Stephen when they began cheering like it was the end of the segment when he started telling a joke about a cruise ship called Odyssey. I wonder if some crew member accidentally set off the applause sign or something? Edited November 13 by DanaK spelling Link to comment

I wonder if some crew member accidentally set off the applause sign or something? He started imitating what the cruise director would say - something like "thanks for being here" and it sounded sort of like the way he normally closes out the monologue so the audience was conditioned to applaud, was my impression. 2 1 Link to comment
possibilities November 14 Share November 14 I appreciate that they always mock the "Sexiest Man" winner when they make the announcements. Otherwise, I'd find it intolerable. I looooved how the audience thought Stephen was done with his monologue and how much it threw him. His improv background showed, because he rolled with it really well, but I think the misunderstanding made the rest of the monologue much funnier. 3 Link to comment
Annber03 November 14 Share November 14 I got a really good laugh out of Stephen's impression of BIden that ended with, "Y'all can fuck right off." (or words to that effect) in tonight's monologue :p. His reaction to all the nomination news is...yeah. That pretty much sums up my feelings exactly. 6 Link to comment
GHScorpiosRule November 14 Share November 14 Puppies!! But why do they look so sad? Their wee tails don't start wagging until they're put down on that astroturf to sniff and suss each other out. And oh my! Chris Evans! Whaat? 3 Link to comment

I assume they give them a mild sedative or a little CBD oil beforehand. Otherwise they might try wiggling out of Stephen’s hands to run around, freak out at the audience, bark incessantly, or who knows what. 2 Link to comment

My firm participated in Day of Service for its 45th anniversary and we were at an adoption event-had two sets of puppies (five siblings from each set) and I fell in love when I cuddled them and they joyously were licking my chin and neck, tails wagging like a metronome. How I wish I had the room and space to adopt one or two! I guess I just wanted to see the puppies “kiss” Stephen and Chris! Edited November 16 by GHScorpiosRule 2 Link to comment
