EtheltoTillie May 4 Author Share May 4 (edited) So Maria Shriver and Patrick Schwarzenegger don't need Shark Money for their Mosh bars to prevent Alzheimer's. They have Kennedy money and Terminator money. They just want exposure. Is their product really going to work? Why did they call it Mosh? Lori did not know who Sargent Shriver was! That was embarrassing. But she made the deal. Edited May 4 by EtheltoTillie 9 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama May 4 Share May 4 (edited) 5/3/24. Season Finale. Sharks-Guest Shark Candace Nelson (Sprinkles), Mark, Kevin, Lori, Daymond (I was wrong, thanks to another poster, I looked again and Mark Cuban will leave at the end of the 16th season). Mosh Protein Bars- Maria Shriver and son Patrick Schwarzenegger founded this company. Seeking $500,000 for 2%. They give part to women’s focues Alzheimer’s research, Shriver claims 50% of Alzheimer’s cases can be prevented, and 2/3 of cases are women. Bar is supposed to be good for your brain, and nutrition. Valuation is $25 million. In 2 years they’ve sold $10 million online, not profitable yet. Think they’ll sell $7 million for 2023. $100,000 a month on marketing. Sales are great, profits aren’t there yet. They have a subscription plan. Candace questions the return on investment. Kevin doesn’t like the valuation, or shelf space, and is out. Mark is out, crowded market area, and he’s out. Daymond is out. Candace is worried about the market area, and is out. (I don't like celebrities who could have had the same deal by calling a Shark directly. To me it takes away from the idea of Shark Tank, by giving entrepreneurs a shot at getting a deal). Lori is the only one left, but in worries about the crowded market space and valuation. Lori makes an offer $500,000 for 6%. Lori makes the deal for $500,000, for 5% with 3.5% equity, and 1.5% advisory. (The percentages may be off). Sip Herbals- a coffee alternative-a coffee substitute without the jitters. Seeking $100,000 for 10%. Caffeine free, natural, chickory root, dandelion root, carob, and it is a tea that tastes like coffee. She calls it Faux Joe. $250,000 sales for 2023, margins are great. Moving into retail. Lori and Daymond are out. Mark is out. Candace is out. Kevin is out. No deal. Arber Plant Care- organic plant-care products. Seeking $500,000 for 4%. First plant wellness system, for veggies, flowers, plants. Bottles are $20 to $21 each, and last for a year. She sells online, in Walmart and Target. Sales were $2.7 million 2022, $4 million for 2023, not yet profitable. Margins 50%. The Walmart margins are awful. She has to get to $9 million to show a profit. Mark is out. Candace is out. Daymond is out, it’s too early. Lori dislikes the valuation. Kevin $1 a unit until he gets $1.5 million back. $500,000 for 5%. No deal. Flaus Electric Flosser-device that lets individuals floss their teeth in an easier manner. Seeking $250,000 for 5%. Peppermint flavored, hoping to have other flavors. 75% gross margin, on the kit with 45 floss heads, device, recharger. Either one time purchase, or quarterly subscriptions. Profitable, on gross, real profit this year. Kevin points out that there are two huge dental device sellers, but seller has patents so could be attractive for a deal with the big companies. Coming out with Flaus kids. $3 million in debt. Lori is out, she loves her dental floss pick. Mark is out. Kevin offers $250,000 5%, plus a royalty until he makes $750,000 back. Candace offers $250,000 and 8% equity. Kevin changes to 3% for $250,000 and royalty. Daymond offers $250,000 for 10%, and will try for a licensing deal. SEller offers Candace and Daymond partner, which Daymond turns down. Deal with Candace. Iconic Moment: Global Sharks & Dragons from around the world visit the U.N. There are 50 versions of Shark Tank, Lions, or Dragons. Edited May 5 by CrazyInAlabama 2 1 Link to comment
KeithJ May 4 Share May 4 Maria Shriver and Patrick Schwarzenegger are on hocking their protein bars? Wtf do they need a shark for?l and why are they on this show? If Maria called any of the sharks, they would most likely answer the phone (or Patrick could have had his father call). I think Lori also gave them a better offer than if someone else asked for. I was really thinking she was going to ask for 10%. 13 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama May 4 Share May 4 (edited) 5/3/24. Season Finale. I was surprised to see it's the season finale. You would think that it would have been on the previews, or ads to get viewers to tune in for the last one of the season. Edited May 5 by CrazyInAlabama 1 Link to comment

DEL901 May 4 Share May 4 On the trip to the UN, they talked about all the versions of Shark Tank around the world, implying that Shark Tank came first. But I believe it was the Japanese Dragon’s Den that came first. Even the Canadian version offDragon’s Den was earlier…Kevin and Robert got their TV start on that version. 6 1 1 Link to comment
DEL901 May 4 Share May 4 50 versions, but the US version did not come first as the segment implied. Japan came first, I believe. 3 Link to comment
Quickbeam May 4 Share May 4 I was a pre-market tester of Mosh bars about a year and a half ago. It was the blueberry almond. The flavor was ok but the texture was terrible, like extruded paste. Always curious to see stuff I’ve tested and reviewed on the Tank. I really don’t like seeing famous people pitch to ST. It feels grasping and preening while taking an opportunity away from someone who may not have famous family. 13 4 2 1 Link to comment

CrazyInAlabama May 4 Share May 4 (edited) I see Mark wasn't his usual 'what proof do you have' for the protein bar claims. Not that I expected that since it was obviously just to get publicity for the product. Edited May 4 by CrazyInAlabama 15 1 Link to comment
jcbrown May 4 Share May 4 (edited) Fuck off, Maria Shriver. You have zero evidence your lame fake food thing has any impact on preventing dementia and you have tons of money and should just fund your own bullshit. And losing 25% of the show to this is infuriating. I lost two parents to Alzheimer’s and I am DONE with her. Edited May 4 by jcbrown 4 1 9 1 Link to comment
hula-la May 4 Share May 4 I spent this episode yelling at the show. I yelled at the wealthy family who had the audacity to come on this show. I yelled at the UN, who probably has better things to do than host the dragons/sharks. I yelled at coffee lady (vanillin, the synthetic version of vanilla, came from wood pulp, not castor sacs. I yelled at the plant lady, because organic uses chemicals. Ok, I didn’t yell that the flaus lady, but that might have been because I was eating apple strudel. 3 6 1 11 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama May 4 Share May 4 (edited) You go to your original post when you started the topic, and if the edit button is still listed, you can edit the title of it, or anything else. Once it only says 'share' you can't edit any longer. Found out the hard way. You can only edit a post, either one starting a topic, or an individual post for a certain number of days. Bookish Jen May 4 Share May 4 I don't know what pissed me off more, seeing Maria Shriver and her nepo baby son hawk their stupid product or the UN act like the Sharks and Dragons were actually doing something to help humanity. Why do I keep watching this clusterfuck of a show? 4 9 Link to comment

tired and hungry May 4 Share May 4 Ok did not expect Patrick and his mom to be on the show. They have a business thats great for them but as others have pointed out, the show is for regular people to come and pitch their business. Maria was a bit OTT (I understand being passionate but it was a bit much). Lori seemed to give them a pity deal since they are famous and at only 6%?? I don't think I've ever seen her ask for anything less than 20% . It was a deal for the sake of TV for sure No opinions on the Tea lady and her product. Tea that tastes like coffee seems like a good idea maybe?. Arber: Seriously Candace? She mentioned the box was like opening a gift? It's a box of "organic" chemicals and pesticide, not one of your boxes of cupcakes. *eyerolls*. I don't understand this trend of making such "pretty" or pastel colored bottles for stuff like chemicals and detergents n stuff. I Is it really necessary or are they catering to the people who want every product in their house to match the "aesthetic". The kind of people who look at Tide and other bottles and think these bottles are ugly sitting out next to their appliances & don't match with the "vibe" of their home. I don't know how you manage to create "organic" chemicals. Aren't most chemicals organic by nature? And just because you slap the word organic on something doesn't mean its good for you or in this case for your plants. 5 5 Link to comment
tired and hungry May 4 Share May 4 Also forgot to add: Did not realise this was Mark's final episode or if this was even the finale episode of the season for that matter. There was no mention of either. Guess its time since one of them stopped appearing. We need some younger sharks or fresher faces... Its kinda boring to see the same sharks now. I hope Lori leaves next. She's just alwaaaayys there all the time in 99% of the episodes. I'm tired of her asking "so what's your background" or "how did you come up with this?" and then cue the entreprenuer with their sob story... 5 1 Link to comment

The protein bars sellers were only on the show for publicity, and to create demand, and could have called any of the Sharks directly for a deal or advice. The Sip stuff didn't interest me at all. Arber isn't something I'd use, unless I want to hurt more innocent plants. Thanks to whoever merged the threads. Edited May 4 by CrazyInAlabama 1 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama May 4 Share May 4 (edited) I agree with you, they were just on for the publicity, and hoping sales would increase. Why is shilling protein bars better than donating the same amount the sellers invested in Alzheimer's research? What I'm tired of with Candace is that they only talk about the cupcake company, she hasn't owned it since 2014, and invests in at least one other business now. I recognize her from her TV work as a judge on Food Network, and other shows. Edited May 5 by CrazyInAlabama 2 Link to comment

Her claim that we didn't know that dementia (not all types are caused by Alzheimer's) had anything to do with lifestyle until 20 years ago is also total bullshit. We've been looking at causes since the middle of the 20th century. Just like all the other people claiming to prevent/cure dementia, they're hawking an unproven product based on scare tactics. I hope when people spend a couple hundred dollars on her granola bars and get diagnosed with cognitive decline anyway, they sue her and her family for the billions they could already be contributing to research if they were really serious about finding treatment. As Phil Donahue said "we don't need to use sick children to sell hamburgers" (make the necessary word substitutions yourself). Edited May 5 by eel2178 2 5 1 Link to comment

seacliffsal May 5 Share May 5 I really didn't like the Patrick and Maria segment. Talk about entitlement-if it's such a great product self-fund it, but they don't want to lose all of their own money, let's lose money from other people too! She over-talked a couple of the Sharks and we heard her backstory twice (I thought Lori wasn't listening the first time Maria explained why she started this business, but the producers probably just wanted it told again). So, Mark only 'attacks' snake oil presenters when they don't have money, influence, or a connection to both the Kennedys and Hollywood? Alrighty then. Oh, and there was a Shark Tank self-promotion segment (UN) and other products, none of which interested me. Where are the presenters that have a realistic valuation? Why is every product worth millions of dollars? Make it all make sense. 5 6 1 Link to comment

I have nothing against Maria Shriver, but this really bothered me. Her family has SO MUCH MONEY that can fund this. Shark Tank is for everyday people like me who have zero connections and access to that kind of money. It's admirable that she is trying to find a cure for dementia - which has hugely affected my life as well - but Shark Tank was not the place for them. 8 1 2 Link to comment
