I also hated Charlie. The scene in the car was so bad. I guess I’m glad we weren’t treated to Charlie not wanting to be with Dad drama? I was also confused about how much time had passed. Baby Javi is like the size of a 5 month old, Charlie is 4 (!) and inexplicably the US for a month, Walter has been living with Rome for 3 months,  and Maggie hasn’t been away from the baby or back to work yet?

I used to love Rome and Regina but Regina is just annoying now. I knew the councilwoman was going to screw her somehow.

I did not miss Katherine or cheeseball Greta.

I figure it has to be 2-3 months because Maggie was only taking 12 weeks leave and she goes back to work in the next episode. (Unless she also extended her leave and they didn't bother to tell the audience, which I suppose I wouldn't put past them.)

I think this is the third or fourth time we’ve seen Gina giving away a ton of free meals without any sort of game plan as to how to make it work financially — first, at the restaurant to those recently laid off, then at the food truck with the homeless encampment and now with Free Food Fridays (or Friday, singular.).  No one on this show has really ever had a sound mind for business-ing, but, a throwaway line or two would work wonders.

As another poster noted, Gina apparently spends a lot of time filing for bankruptcy. IRL her Accountant would be asking, "did you turn the Food Truck into a nonprofit? That's a whole different business model you know."

Would have been nice to at least see Eddie and Delilah have an actual conversation about Charlie instead of jumping from D basically blowing him off on the phone and C just being in Boston a month or two later. (Or even just an implication that they continued the conversation off screen. They didn't need to show us the whole thing.)

TPTB don't want to getting into a whole contract thing for one scene that will explain something to us. It is not like they care anyway.

My forever peeve in TV shows with young-ish women: pigtails in adult women. Why to they think it is cute? Pony tail will do for your run Maggie, you don't need to try the cutesy thing because it is not cute, it is infantilizing, the eternal pursuit of looking young and cute that is a staple in the hair and make up department in the studios.

I've done the pigtails.....

I was growing my hair long to donate. I had never had long hair before, so I kept trying different styles because ponytails usually are boring (although that's usually my go-to). And briefly, I thought pigtails might be cute. So, I have a picture of me, two birthdays ago, with my hair in pigtails.

It's not a look I'm particularly proud of. And I doubt that, after cutting it a year ago, (I decided that an hour and a half of brushing it out might not be the best idea while I'm recovering in a hospital after a surgery, and it was long enough to donate), and hoping I can grow it long enough to donate again before it gets too gray to be useful, I'm probably not going to wear pigtails out in public. The ponytail is good enough. Pigtails really not a good look for anybody. Or to put my hair in a braid (it's not quite long enough, although it is for a ponytail)

I keep my hair relatively long (anywhere from shoulder-length to mid-back) so ponytail is always an option. When it gets on the longer side and I need to get it out of my way a single braid is my go-to. I don't think I wore pigtails even when I was little...I certainly wouldn't do it now. But Maggie is the adorablest, of course, so she can get away with 'em.

Maggie was sporting (or should I say sprouting?) pigtails in this episode? I must have blinked and missed it.  I remember the fussing about with Charlie and her pigtails which was bad enough, that is making a big deal about having perfect pigtails, yawn.  Maggie tried the same thing? I'm vaguely remembering her trying up her hair with pink ribbon though.  Was it when she had the cutesy ice cream outing with new BFF Claire which turned serious because of the breastfeeding convo?

I’m not. Assisted living facilities are often a last resort, with families trying multiple other options to keep their loved one at home as long as they can. I can see why Rome and Regina did this, especially considering how stubborn Walter is (you think he’ll happily enter a facility?) and how his lucid moments outnumber his non lucid ones. It makes sense to me that they wouldn’t consider it until Walters non lucid actions became potentially dangerous.

Also, ALF’s are expensive, another reason why most people try other (less expensive) options first. We know Rome works and has a well-paying job, but how much money can Regina be bringing in when she parks her food truck at homeless encampments and gives away so much of her food? 🙄

Well said!  We moved in with my FIL six years ago, when MIL passed.  It took 5 months to get him to go to an ALF.  Stubborn is not even close to how he behaved.

I would normally say that the idea of Eddie dating the woman who hit him with her car in a hit and run, leading to him becoming paralyzed, relapsing, and his marriage ending, who he later gave an apartment to so that she could escape her abusive husband, would be batshit insane, but Eddie's last relationship was with the woman who was married to the man who molested his surrogate niece/daughter who their good friend helped beat into a coma who also left the aforementioned creepy husband to die so this seems pretty on brand for Eddie. So if Charlie has seemingly aged a few years since we saw her last, how old is Theo supposed to be now? Is he going to be asking for driving lessons soon so that he can get his own dinosaur chicken nuggets and glitter?

So now is Regina going to get into politics? Great, now she can run a whole city into the ground instead of just her businesses. I hate how much this show has made me annoyed with Regina, who used to be one of my favorites along with Katherine, who has also now taken a dip in being likable, and its not just because of that terrible haircut. Tragically its impossible to escape from the codependent weirdos with your dignity in tact.

I feel like the idea of getting an aid is still a good idea, Rome and Regina gave up on it way too fast. It seems like Rome at least makes a decent salary to afford more care, even if Regina is hemorrhaging cash giving away all of her food to homeless encampments.

They go from one very, very improbable relationship to one that I just can't believe.  Is Eddie such a saint that he has not a smidge of anger or resentment for the woman who made him paralyzed?  He almost gives off the vibe that being unable to walk is just what he always wanted.  This show asks acceptance of many very unlikely behaviors and situations but this one crosses the line into total fantasy.

An aid does seem like a good idea. They could just get someone part time to be there when Regina and Rome are at work.

I'm sure Walter also has money and possibly health insurance that would help with the budget stuff. If I recall, Rome's mother died unexpectedly and they probably had retirement savings that was supposed to support both of them. Plus his house is just sitting empty and could be sold (even in the AMLT universe where the real estate market isn't crazy).

But I don't think budget was their issue, Rome and Regina were just bad at hiring an aid.

Per Theo's reminder in this episode:. Glitter has been cancelled!

Though I'm sure the quandary of whether to buy the dinosaur-shaped or spacecraft-shaped chicken nuggets will come into play.

Even Theo prefers Wheelchair Dad because he's so cool now.

The student brought up with Rome about the UTI for a reason (we know how these writers are).  I’ve had a couple of friends experience the odd behavior with their elderly relatives. My take Rome’s  father gets correctly diagnosed with the UTI.  He doesn’t have Alzheimers. Happily ever after.

Also unrealistic is Maggie's fit and trim figure so soon after childbirth.

Agree with the others that said time jump. Gary was making food for the baby which I think is recommended at 4-6 months for solids.

So, I fell significantly behind on the last few episodes. I didn't feel the need to rush to catch up, but I did.

Yeah, I guess they couldn't just go cast a French four year old girl, so I can be lenient on the lack of an accent, even if it was distracting. I mean, Charlie lives in France. Her first language should be French, at this point. I imagine Delilah's speaking more French than English at home and probably only teaches Charlie English so she can communicate with her father. Delilah sucks.

So, they really are setting up Eddie and Nicole. Well, when you cast a semi-well known actress like Rachel Nichols (who has had some recognizable roles, for sure, similar to Erin Karpluk), you're not just gonna have her be in a couple of episodes. I really don't like it, but I guess they want everyone paired off before the show finishes so they're tossing Eddie at the woman who literally hit him with her car and caused his paralysis. But if I had to choose between Nicole and Bitchy Professor, I guess this is the slightly better option.

Theo needs to just....go away. I don't know how many more episodes there are left in the series, but this show has done the poor actor a serious disservice with how pathetic his character is.

The Alzheimer's storyline with Rome's dad is still decent. At least they're doing something interesting with it, unlike Regina's fifth business endeavour that I guess they're setting up for her to be successful at? Or something, I actually don't know what their end goal with Regina is when she can't seem to make money from this food truck stuff. Not when she keeps giving away her food for free. If the endgame for her is that she finds herself getting involved in volunteering for the homeless or starting a non-profit, then they really should get to it.

The stuff with Gary and his aunt was...eh. They really should have been exploring this WAY earlier than the final season. But what a dumb reason to stop talking to your own family for 30+ years.

Insurance does not pay for home aides. Medicare doesn't pay for it either. He would have to get very poor to qualify for Medicaid and even then, it would be a hassle. But you are right, it is Regina's and Rome's lack of real focus on find some help. They had Sophie for a day , it was great, they forgot that it is for the rest of his life. Sophie also loved it, but it was a one time thing.

He's been this way for a long time, surely a untreated UTI would have developed into something serious by this time? My family member's came *this* close to getting to the kidneys in a shorter period of time. I only twigged to it because they were complaining about back pain.

We had to spend down my father's (meager) savings in order for medicaid to kick in. That wasn't that difficult to do - as we (I was guardian/conservator) paid the full price for the memory care facility (at that time something like 4K a month). They held a bed for him until he was eligible for government help. He could only have $2K to his name in order to qualify. Like Rome's dad might have done, he had a traffic accident, proceeded to take a swing at the cop, and was put in jail before they realized he was not all there. It was quite a legal and emotional tangle to go through.

I'm confused as to why people think Rome makes a decent salary.  Where I live, teachers at private schools on the whole make less money and have fewer benefits than those in the public system, in part because most private schools don't require the educational qualifications.  Did I miss something?

I'm confused too. Don't think we're missing anything.

Rome may have some savings from when he sold his movie. The company bought it to shelve it, but it was probably a decent sum.

But otherwise, I agree, as a teacher he wouldn't have a super high salary. He may not be starving, but definitely not rich. But this is TV. Eddie drives for not-Uber and manages to not only make a good living, but is able to pay to go back to college.

This comment had me questioning if I really saw pigtails or if I was just 'remembering' because someone else mentioned them, then I was just scrolling through the AMLT facebook page and came across this. And yes, yes I did.
