S03.E3: The First Night Together

Only five couples?  Usually they have six (actually more but not all are shown) with at least one ending early.

So they went to Malibu instead of Mexico this time and it seems really lame.  No ocean?  No beach.  It was kind of pathetic the one couple had to get into a bathtub and treat it like a hot tub.  It's hard to feel chemistry with any of them right now.

The best part of the episode was the producers showing Andrew put in eye drops twice while giving his 'tearful" rejection confession.  Hilarious.

Nancy picked Bartisse over Andrew....I did not see that coming, mainly because they kept showing her complaining about his age in the first two episodes.

Andrew and the eye drops OMG!!  I am not gonna lie, I am gonna miss this ol’ Bond villain.  Just the memory of him standing  there in his tight vest and his short sleeved shirt drinking out that goblet as its stem is clasped in his third and fourth finger… Just so much snark fodder.

Yeah, I just wasn’t seeing any romantic passion between SK and Raven.  They weren’t bringing any sexual chemistry

Colleen-Ballerina seemed more relieved than anything.  LOL.  Girl, you can be happy you snagged someone you will get to stay on the show longer.  Too bad her guy has the personality of bread.  And not an interesting multi-grain kind.  I’m not gonna lie, I am getting big ‘I am acting” vibes from her during their first face to face.

So many ugly body con dresses.  

For real guys, I still couldn’t pick Zainab out of a line up.

Totally forgot about Alexa and Brennon. They still seem ok.

Ballerina Colleen is just so happy she has a man, any man.

I like Alexa & Brennan. I also adore Nancy and hope that Bartise is the right guy for her. Not that I was rooting for Andrew. He was intense in a way that weirded me out. 

Something shady with Raven. I think we'll find out that she was heavy in the sugar daddy lifestyle.

Do we know what city they're all from yet?

P.S.  They're currently casting S4 in Detroit

Well, I just found out that Cole's last name is Barnett. Not sure if he is related to S1 Barnett yet.

Also he is a realtor from Ft. Worth and Brennon wears a cowboy hat so maybe they are in Ft. Worth.

Given that Alexa didn't say ILY back to Brennon, and their kissing looked pretty junior high outdoors at their dinner, and they don't look comfortable with each other, I was surprised that he said it was even better being with her in person than he imagined.  But they still haven't shown us her saying what she thinks.   So I was VERY surprised to then see them kissing in bed and find out that they had sex.

We also haven't gotten to hear Raven's thoughts about SK now that they've met, but she doesn't seem smitten.  SK said something about building the physical connection slowly, but if he doesn't start out w/something, like holding her hand while they were going to bed or giving her some kind of a goodnight kiss, it will only become harder to do later.  However, from the previews, maybe him going so slowly is the key to her heart!  

The conversation in the pool with Zanab and Cole was so awkward.  I do feel for each of them, having the difficulty of integrating the faceless ideal mate that they conversed with in the pods, with the actual human flawed person now in their life.  Regardless of whatever his motivation or confusion, Cole not talking to her for the first few hours of the morning after having had sex on their first night, is such a rookie mistake.  At the party, when he was talking to his boys, and then seemingly unprompted said to her, "I wasn't talking about you.  I haven't been talking about you.  We were discussing sports," I couldn't tell if he was seriously trying to convince her of that, or if he was doing a silly way of admitting that of course he had been talking to his boys about her.  If it was a serious attempt, then, wow, he has the EQ of a 5-year old with crumbs on his face, saying to his mother the minute she walks into the kitchen, "I didn't have any cookies!"

Nancy's constant giggling is hella annoying.  But the absolute most idiotic/perplexing thing that happened in the entire episode, was when Bartise told Nancy his thoughts about having met Raven at the party.  Either homeboy is the most clueless man on the planet, and had no idea how devastating it would be for Nancy to hear that he thinks another woman (whom he almost picked) is a "100% smokeshow", or he is a Machiavellian a**hole and said it on purpose to keep her on her toes.  It didn't help that his explanation of why it wouldn't work with Raven, included basiclaly "we are both so good-looking and magnetic, that everyone gravitates to us wherever we are".  I had liked him before, but now I'm not so sure.

Did Andrew really think that they wouldn't show him putting in the eye drops to make it look like he was crying about all this?  Or was ALL of what he did, done with tongue firmly in cheek?  At any rate, judging from the previews, it doesn't look like we'll have to miss him for long!

I know others said this but, Andrew with the eye drops!! I'm so relieved Nancy said no to him. 

I can't stand Raven. I say no there's no way they make it. She's too cold and not in a "I have underlying issues way. She just seems like the type of person who doesn't give a shit about anyone else. 

Alexa and Brennon make me a little nervous. I think Brennon actually seems genuinely in love with her. She's definitely more put off but I'm wondering if it's an insecurity thing?

Cole and Zanib are a big no. He's way too immature for her. 

Nancy and Bartise are probably a no. Bartuse seems to be in love with the idea of this more than Nancy herself.

I actually think Colleen and her fiancé, is it Matt. have the best chance of making it. I do think part of her just wants to be with someone but he seems genuinely smitten with her and they're sweet. I feel the least hesitation between them.

I agree with your whole post but these two in particular. 

I was really rooting for Alexa and Brennon, I was hoping they would be the Nick and Danielle of this season. Alexa though already seems like she's not in to the relationship at all. Her evasive responses to his compliments are very annoying ("Im so in love with you," "Are you", "You are so gorgeous", "Am I"), if I was Brennon I would be seeing major red flags. I am wondering if she is not as attracted to him as she seemed to be when they first met. 

Colleen and Matt seem like they are the best fit. 

I do not see the appeal of Raven at all. She seems incredibly high maintenance and like no one would ever please her except for older rich men who could buy her affection. Maybe that is what she meant by service industry: escort?

Poor Nancy, I honestly did not expect Bartise to be such an ass. Not sure how someone comes back from that so early on in the experiment.

She comes across as incredibly shallow and self-absorbed, and frankly not very bright - but she doesn’t seem like she values intelligence. Of all of them, she seems the most like she’s there to be on TV.

Andrew eye drops is not one of the best reality show moments in history. Like that guy was sketchy from the moment he opened his mouth. And then he was super racist and full of shit about Africa right in front of SK too. No water to shower for five days? Masai blankets in South Africa? He is too much and now everyone in the world knows what a snake he is.

Matt reminds me way too much of one of the men on Love Is Blind Brazil whose name I can’t think of. He looks similar, tattoos, light hair, height, etc. The one who was engaged to Daya. That guy seemed nice and decent but was actually a huge perv who betrayed his fiancee’s trust and privacy and was controlling af. Matt seems disingenuous and there is a vibe that is not right. I do not see his engagement lasting.

I'm just finally starting to watch Season 3.   Overall the show doesn't have the magic of Season 1 so far.   Again the show's not going to get another Lauren and Cameron.   With that said...

I did like Alexa and Brennon the best out of all the couples.   But yeah I see Alexa's actions of not really responding to Brennon's declaration of love as suspicious.   Then again all of them have literally just met so that could be part of it.   Reality is starting to creep in.   Plus there may be some insecurity on Alexa's part that's playing into how she's acting.

I'm also growing on Colleen and Matt as well.   Will see how that progresses.

Omg...somehow I missed the eye drop gate.  I'm definitely going to rewatch that.   That's hilarious.   But like Cole he definitely came across as the biggest tool.   Raven is up there too in tool-ville.

They really made it look like Nancy was going to say yes to Andrew. Tricksters! I was wondering what the purpose of the eye drops was besides fake crying. Turns out it was so he could say he never thought he'd fall in love with someone who made him cry... Something like that. A MESS!!! 🤣🤣

I am not sure if it's just me, this cast or if the bloom has just gone off this concept. Like with the previous seasons, I felt like there was enough actual romance and enough train-wrecky stuff to keep me engaged and to keep me guessing as to which couples might "make it."

This season, I am just bleh. 

I don't feel a particular curiosity or affinity or anything about this show. Nobody's enough of a villain for me to want to root for their comeuppance. None of the couples seem like they are anything close to a true romance. 

Has this concept just played itself out? Is this a particularly bad cast? Or what is going on?
