Did I hear correctly in the conversation about Sumit working that he wanted to "go back to cooking with his friend"? Had we heard about this culinary career before? I only remember him working in a call center when he met scammed Jenny.

Is Sumit Brahmin? I don't get the caste system that well, but I've met other Sikhs (and worked for some) in the restaurant business.  That was my take - that,  yes, he has done it before because of his high caste.

Aren't Brahmins the top of the heap? I don't know about it either, but I highly doubt Sumit is from a high caste. I think Sumit's cooking career is something more like selling street food.

Yes.  They can touch food for lower castes, but not vice-versa.  The intersection between Sikh and Hindu confuses me.  I think caste is more of a matter of birth and religion one of faith.  So you can be both, but that's a minority of a minority.  I can appreciate Sharp, etc not wanting to dwell on caste politics, but it's interesting to me as an outsider.  Sumit probably has opportunities the vast majority of Indians do not, despite his fecklessness..

Brahmins are at the top of the heap in the caste system but that doesn't translate to wealth. In fact, quite a few are poor. Since they're top of the heap spiritually, they look down on labor. 

Sikh men (and women) if they are really devout, don't shave or cut their hair. The men wear turbans, steel bracelets, and carry a kirpan (dagger). Another cool thing about Sikhs is that they believe in service to the community and doing good--go to any Sikh temple and they'll feed you. There are a couple of good documentaries on Amazon about Sikhism that I've seen fairly recently, worth checking out.

I'll just say that fried frog legs are delicious.  Fresh ones have what I call a "lake water" taste, which good catfish also has.  For some reason, frog legs are super delicious in the Mexican towns along the Texas border.

So there's this nothing town north of Sacramento called Yuba City, which I knew because of serial killer Juan Corona, who in the early 1970s murdered and buried in shallow graves a bunch of farm workers there.  A while back I had occasion to be in Yuba City for a week or so, and noticed an unusual number of people in turbans and other Indian garb walking around on the streets, and it turns out they have a huge Sikh population, like the biggest concentration outside India, in this little farming town.  Certainly beats being known for Juan Corona.

I am skipping by Libby, Ed, and even Shaeda (sp).  I find all of the Libby characters annoying, Ed to be vile and, while I like Shaeda, Bilal and his ex make me want to cry for this lovely woman who’s gotten wrapped up with those vipers.

Im behind on this show due to travel an hurricane. Yara is breaking my heart. My neighbor is from Ukraine and this is devastating. They hung a Ukrainian flag on their house and left it up during Irma. I was so happy to see it survived the storm.
