I am still getting a kick out of the FakeRafe S/L :)  I'm in a lonely group, but Galen portraying a confused amnesiac was really a hoot.  This 'switcheroo" by EJ is confusing everybody!

Yep just because something worked back then doesn't mean it works now as adults. Plus it really limits Shawn/Belle story wise if they only have each other. None of this makes Belle remotely likeable or Shawn viable as a leading man.

I don't get why this show hasn't paired EJ/Ava it would work on so many levels. If they wanted Ava vs Kristen it should be because of EJ not Brady(who I like but can't he have a sane love interest for a change).

Brady is just as dumb when it comes to Kristen how can you be shocked when you decided to have a gross toxic relationship with nutjob who raped both you and your brother? Tried to kill your sister, drugged her & tried to kill your mom! Make it make sense. Nearly this whole show is a insult to my intelligence

She certainly takes risks though and is obvious about her coming and goings. Don't tell me it wasn't tough dragging Arnold out of the house, stripping him, stripping Rafe, dressing him like Arnold and then leaving unnoticed just before Jada showed up but conveniently after Gabi left. If the police were smart - IF - they'd be getting footprints, fingerprints, witness accounts, etc. Someone would have seen her....but this is Salem.

I guess I'm just amazed a woman of her age and temperament would be like "sure, I'll watch over this guy you drugged and then I'll taze this other one, no problem." She does thug stuff.

 

Belle's tears bored me today and I wanted Marlena to say "yes....you are stupid."

I hope Ava prosecutes. I hate her, of course, but Rachel is bonkers and Kristen is worse. Plus, I don't see her mild interest in Brady being enough to sway her need for vengence.

On the other hand, she can agree to keep quiet and then make one call to her mob friends.

Jada, no one cares that you boinked Shawn one time, on the sofa, for 15 minutes. It probably wasn't even that good. Rafe did the same to Hope under less stressful circumstances. You get a pass.

It really is a result of having lower standards now for bad characters 😄 There are so many people on this show to dislike now, Rafe is almost a relief at times, because he offers a break from them!

All this brouhaha about Rachel the Younger being dragged by the cops/CPS if Ava  gives a statement about her kidnapping. Just LIE and say it was aaaaalllll Kristen and her mom. They concocted the whole idea. With Kristen’s criminal past, doubtful anybody will quibble if that’s really the truth. There, Rachel the Younger won’t be implicated. And IF it played out like this (it won’t), let’s see if Kristen tries to throw her kid under the bus and say nooooo, it was Rachel the Younger who concocted the plan.

THIS!   Since people like to bring up Ava’s mob past (EJ calling her Mafia Princess in today’s episode), lean into it. Why shouldn’t Ava use every advantage at her disposal? If justice justice won’t come through for her, then she should resort to mob justice.

For real. It's not the first time she's threatened or messed with a woman her father is dating (Hi Chloe!) and at least if she gets some help now, she can become a balanced individual.

It would be a great longterm story, I think, for CPS to take Rachel away for a few years and place her elsewhere and for Kristen and Brady to suffer. It would certainly end their relationship.

I do believe Kristen would take the jail time for her daughter. She's done prison before and she does love Rachel.

Sadly at this point Brady getting full custody would hardly help. Grandma Marlena stepping in wouldn't even work.

Do the idiots making this show even talk to each other?!  Tate and Sophia are sitting out in the town square with nary a whisper of snow, but the swooping, overhead shot of “Salem” showed snow covered everything.

!!!  But it doesn’t have an “indoor” feel . The light looks like all natural light (sunlight), and the manner in which people enter/exit the square doesn’t have an “indoor” ingress/egress vibe.  Days does a bad job simulating an indoor setting with the town square.

It's supposed to be like a covered outdoor mall with a glass canopy roof or something. I remember they had the characters commenting on it when the set debuted.

I must have missed something. Why inject the memory-loss drug in FakeRafe and leave him in the house? I thought the goal was to drug and disappear FakeRafe, and then drug and re-appear RealRafe?

You missed something lol. Rita has removed Fake Rafe. Real Rafe is back with zero memories. Gabi’s hair sample from fake Rafe will "prove" that real Rafe is Arnold. Nobody will check his finger prints.

Ah ok, thanks. I for some reason thought Real Rafe was still in captivity and Jada and Shawn had arrested Fake Rafe. I was traveling for work all week and blame this on 'watching while jet-lagged', lol.

Yeah I suppose I can buy that the town square has a retractable roof or something, but there's been snow in the square before, so...

Young Doug is bland so far but okay. I hope they have a decent story idea for him coming up.

If Tate lives at Marlena's, then when is he finding out the insanity going on with Rachels 1 and 2? Seems weird he wouldn't be involved in that story...

Hell must have frozen over because Paulina finally did something I liked in saying that she cares more about Chanel's wellbeing than whether or not her kids are adopted. Nice!

UO…I’m ok if Tate isn’t involved in the Two Rachel’s story because I hate when the show tries to shoehorn a (close) relationship between people merely because they are related. And for me, this applies to other relationships beyond the Rachel’s, such as the DiMera siblings or other late in life “oh, hey - we’re related” relationships. I want familial bonds that are organic and develop over time, not “I’m you’re sister/brother/father/aunt/grandma/etc.” so now we’re magically super close and loving.

I'm very close to just not watching the show these days.  

Mother Blake's resurrection is a startlingly poor resurrection of a character that bares little resemblance to the original, and since when does Kristen need a mommy at her AARP time of life?  Bad seed Rachel exists only to double down on how stupid Brady is.  Also, I don't want Ava to be the voice of reason in pretty much anything.

I have no ill will towards Johnny and Chanel separately or as a couple.  I only care about their fertility issue just a little less than I cared about Johnny's non-cheating on her.

Alex and anyone, including Stephanie, is a miss.  As is Holly and Old Man Tate, and Doug Williams III is best thought of as little as possible.  He's not Doug's grandson, he never met him and didn't grow up with him and Doug never gave him a second thought.  He needs to disappear, but he can take Holly with him.

Rafe's storyline had a few moments but now Show is stretching it out too long.  The actress who plays Jada is very good but even she's not convincing me she cares anymore.

The less said, and the less seen, about Leo, the better.

Javi's not a bad character, and I like the actor but he's stuck with Leo who is the worst.  And then there's Paulina.  Let her hook up with Leo and leave the rest of us out of it.

I'm skipping whole episodes lately, a lot of them and I don't see much on the horizon to keep me watching.

I'm really surprised Marlena didnt give more of a reaction to finding out about Rachel Blake. Her and Rachel were close last iteration.  That and Rachel and John havd known each other forever. They were close friends when he was her priest.

It totally is...she doesn't...and it's sick that the show basically uses Rachel to highlight Brady's complete inability to fix anything in his life when HE's the one who was victimized and raped in the first place! And lord knows Ava needs a one-way ticket out of town.

Same...but this is the 60th anniversary and there's a new writing regime coming up, a lot of returns (hopefully good ones) and well, I think after all the filler storylines and crap we've endured, we deserve to enjoy whatever effort they've put into the next couple of months, and stick together to celebrate and chat about the glorious mess that is this crazy show.

I have been overwhelmingly negative towards it lately, I admit, but I'm just being honest about what it is. And people like you make watching through the poop infinitely more tolerable and even enjoyable.

Maybe they'll pull it together a bit more with Ron gone. Resets do help.

I thought Marlena would immediately put on her coat and go to the police station to see if this was REALLY Rachel, the woman who sacrificed herself to save everyone from Stefano. But nope, she's in her office "doing paperwork" so Johnny can pop in and talk about his problems.

They really just slot her in wherever they want her these days, with little regard for how she's actually doing on her own terms as a character. I STILL can't believe Kristen lived under her roof with John and Brady for a while! That's...insane. Marlena would *never* agree to that and the men would *never* put her in that position. That is, if the show was being written as it should.

Anyway, I suspect we'll eventually get a scene of Marlena going "oh...wow...Rachel....how have you been? It really is you....*yawn*....okay what's next?" with her typical unflappable quasi-warm vocal tone.

I'm right there with you.  Half-way through Friday's episode, I turned it off.  There wasn't a single thing I cared about.   Tate and Holly get on my nerves.  Haven't liked "Doug" since he showed up at Christmas--he's so bland.  Cannot stand Paulina with her huffing and puffing.  And now Rafe's storyline has gone off the rails.  I took a break during the devil possession madness, so I may skip this month and check back when the new writer's material begins. 

(Swore off CBS soaps when they cancelled my ATWT so didn't plan on watching Beyond the Gates but decided to record it.   Watched the week's episodes yesterday and it runs circles around Days as far as --- well everything.)
