I really don't like her naming the child after Victor.

Today, she brought up that one of her major beefs with Xander is the whole baby swap thing.   She can't forgive him for that, but NAMES THE BABY after Victor, the person who's idea it was originally and basically convinced Xander to do it.  I'm not saying she should necessarily forgive Xander but it seems really hypocritical to HONOR his co-conspirator and the actual master mind behind the plot to begin with.

Since when are Brady and Alex such GREAT pals that Brady would try to warn Alex away from Theresa?  Was he seriously just trying to be that big of an asshole to Theresa?  And now Brady and Alex are buddy buddy enough to be going on some adventure together?  Maybe I'm blocking it out, but I honestly can't remember a single scene where they had even a vaguely friendly interaction.

You missed nothing. The writing is just shitty across the board. And this is still Ron, since the show films so far out. Scab writing, by my estimation, should show up around November.

I thought about it - because your points are valid - and the way it makes sense to me is that Sarah gave birth at Victor's gravesite...and he is deeply missed by both her Mother and her Baby Daddy...and she already named one kid after her mother's first husband...and maybe she just likes 'Victoria' and this happened to be a good excuse to justify picking the name.

She did day she was coming up with it on the spot...and it does sound nice.

And technically she forgave Xander for the baby switch already.

🤷‍♂️

She seems to be back to being angry about the baby switch and denying Xander knowing he has a child because of that, rather than how 'dangerous' he is. Frankly Xander rates low on the danger scale as he has held a desk job for months while 'good guy' Brady abducted and almost electroshocked Stefan and Phillip's horrible crime is being handwaved because 'he was not in his right mind'

I think they should remind us that Xander only did the Susan thing because a) he was assured nobody would get hurt and EJ had just humiliated him and b) he was broke because Bonnie had stolen his money and gotten it impounded by Trask who never gave it back. Maybe Bonnie has residual guilt about that which is why she is over the kidnapping

Either way Sarah is so wrong her, as she was last time when she lied to Eric about Mickey, but I'm a hypocrite who didn't care about that cause I loathed Eric at the time.

Wow. I forget completely about the Bonnie stealing from him stuff and the EJ humiliation stuff. Refresh me please?

I thought he took the job because he "was broke" aka it worked for the purposes of the plot.

Xander was stupidly keeping one million dollars cash in his hotel room (that Sami gave him for outing his one nighter with Nicole at her and Eric's anniversary party - ill gotten gains sure but he legitimately earned the cash and Sami got what she paid for). Bonnie overheard him telling Gwen about the money. She was being blackmailed by Calista Lockhart, her dead first husband's sister, because Bonnie had killed the husband. Calista wanted one million dollars so Bonnie broke into Xander's hotel room and took the cash. Then she shot Calista during her wedding to Justin and the money was seized as evidence as it was in the room. Trask gave Xander the choice of giving her the cash (to donate in Hayley's memory) or she would tell Jack Gwen had lied about her miscarriage. Xander walked away from the money to protect Gwen. Dumb as usual as the truth came out minutes later.

Then his relationship to Gwen blew up, he married Sarah, and was desperate to prove he was a good husband. The perfect storm happened at that point: 1. Victor told him he was a loser and he and Sarah moved into a roach motel. Maggie was offering them cash to help and he felt useless. 2. He asked EJ for a job in exchange for information. EJ thought he was offering to give up Titan secrets when he was in fact going to tell him Ava was sitting right next to him in a blonde wig. EJ mocked him and said he might find something to do as a gardener. Ava then swooped in and said lets scare him, take his mom for a bit and squeeze some cash out of him. Xander agreed on the spot because EJ had made him mad.

I mean, yea that was basically it lol.

I forget, how did Xander get the money that Bonnie stole from him?

Sami gave him the million bucks to crash Nicole and Eric's anniversary party and give all the juicy details on their drunken hook up. Xander would have done it for free lol

Alex and Brady work together.  Alex is Brady's number two at Basic Black. That and they seem like the only two of that generation of the Kiriakis that get along.

You know if they wanted Sarah resentful over the baby switch this should've happened when they were about to get married a couple years ago. Instead of that stupid mask storyline. They could've had Sarah realize she never got past it and that she couldn't marry him. Xander would be free to be darker and with someone who can accept that about him and Sarah won't look really dumb every time she takes Xander back and berates him at the same time for being who he truly is.  That's too simple and character driven for this show though. They just want to make things harder than they need to be on this show.

My eyes rolled from Talia the doctor.

How would Susan get to London after the accident and not tell her family?

Finally Chanel makes a smart decision. Choosing Johnny and then trying again is good choice.

Skipped yesterday. Today was pretty basic too.

Thalia gets dumped by Chanel (nicely). Ava and Harris get fake passports from Tripp and Wendy (stupidly). EJ interrupts Jada's interrogation of his hired assassin by pretending to be her lawyer (randomly). Shawn acts the fool and tries to help with the Ava investigation only to be escorted back to town, where he rips into Belle and then goes to the Pub for more booze (disturbingly).

We've already said how BB isn't handling this material well, but today there were a few decent moments. I just keep mentally asking myself how the previous Shawn (Jason Cook) might have brought some real fire to these lines and paced himself while delivering them.

Shawn brought up Belle cheating on him with EJ, which I'd mostly missed. After passing on Philip and asking to remarry Shawn, why did Belle stray again? And did we see her and Shawn working through it? They were remarried again by that point right? :( I don't know what to do with this couple anymore. Shawn may have been drunk and cruel, but the repetitive cheating has seriously taken the bloom off the rose with this pseudo "super couple".

Tripp, the doctor, hears his homicidal mother telling him she's repeatedly hallucinating her last victim...and he doesn't try to sedate her and bring her to a safer facility?

Tripp, buddy, you almost killed Kayla in Ava's honor. You are fucking lucky to be a doctor at all. This crazy biotch does not deserve you putting your entire career and life on the line yet again, so she can run off to London on a whim with another crazy person.

And don't you think the border agents get an immediate text when there's a nutcase on the loose, with a picture of them and everything?

And don't you think using YOUR passports pretty much confirms you helped them, since YOUR profiles will come up the minute the barcodes are scanned? Why drag Wendy into this?

...I know they're just throwing together flimsy explanations to move the story to London so (presumably) Susan can be found, but none of this made much sense. When Mike Horton saw his mother Laura having mental problems, he was the first person to go to his medical kit and find some sedatives and err on the side of caution (even when it turned out she was completely right about Kristen). I kept flashing back to all those scenes of Mike in the 90s, trying to be supportive of his mom while still being in rational "doctor" mode. Tripp fell very short of that today.

Did anyone else think Shawn would assume Belle was given the rose by Philip?

Is Philip still in Salem even??

EJ isn't an active lawyer. The show can suddenly claim he is, but he hasn't done any lawyering since his return from the dead several years ago. Two minutes of research on Jada's part should blow a hole in that explanation. Sigh. The writers on this show think continuity references explain away everything.

Angry Responsible Cop Rafe is probably the only version of Rafe I slightly enjoy (well, I also like Big Brother Rafe, but he hasn't been on this show in a long time). His barely-contained irritation towards Shawn was deserved and compelling. *reluctantly applauds GG*

Jan came back pregnant claiming it was Shawn’s child. Belle couldn’t handle Shawn having her move in or Marlena treating her. EJ was being a supportive friend

EJ/Belle was pointless because nothing came from it. I wish Shelle would end for good they worked as teens and should have stayed in the past.

I think Martha or someone else hinted online that the EJ/Belle thing was nipped in the bud and that more might have been in the works.

Frankly, I felt bad for Belle that EJ was appealing to her at the time. Fine, he looks nice, but he's been an awful guy and it's sad that his treatment of Sami didn't make him repellent to Belle.

I skimmed today's episode. Sure enough, Shawn throws everything away and gets frisky with Thalia. Weirdly, though, I felt like the actress was selling her material well today. Haven't enjoyed her previously, but today of all days, she's okay.

It's really sad seeing the Belle and Shawn marriage dragged through the mud like this. When they weren't on the show regularly, the writers didn't seem to need to break them up or challenge them with infidelity constantly. You can only play that card so many times before the audience doesn't believe in the relationship any more. I think we're there now :(

Hopefully Jada or Rafe or someone stops by the apartment and Shawn stop himself before it gets too hot and heavy.

DVD as Timothy was a nice idea, but I feel like it's been episode after episode of him grinning and chuckling and nothing about his character at all. What am I supposed to like about him? At this point, his constant cheeriness is almost creepy.

And today's lack of reaction to even existing was also weird. Someone walks through the door and everyone just says "Oh? You're grandpa? The one we thought was dead? Great! We love you now! We're so BLESSED!" instead of wanting to do some research, feeling awkward that he might be yet another red herring. Just "yay!" and smiles and oh look, there's Paul, coincidentally! It was making me uncomfortable honestly.

And no DNA test John? REALLY? After all this!? You were both AT the hospital, FFS. Pull Kayla aside and say "test this old bugger and make sure the results are legit - he may be my poppa!" and settle this thing once and for all.

...is it strange to anyone else that at no point did John and Marlena make any reference to VIctor's funeral? I figured they'd at least say "oh this business with Timothy kept us from attending" but they weren't even dressed in black at the hospital. It was like they woke up this morning like it was any other day, put on their regular clothes and just went about business as usual. Did they seriously intend to leave addict Brady by himself at the funeral?? Along with suicidal-son-in-law Shawn???

Previews teased a scene between Doc and John at the Pub where they reminisced about Victor. When did that scene happen? I never saw it, and that preview was weeks ago...

EDIT: Forgot to add - Theresa and Andrew finally appeared on the show together as adults! Mark the calendar!

When it was Jason/Kirsten in the roles that was the case but with Martha as Belle she was with Phillip and Shawn was with Mimi.  However rarely were they together dealing with things on a regular basis they always resorted to Belle cheating every couple of years.

They really should've just stuck with Phillip/Belle and Shawn/Mimi as adults because Shelle don't work beyond a teen romance to me.

I am glad this time around that Shawn is the one that steps out instead of Belle. However I'm not looking forward to Talia inevitably being thrown under the bus for this.

I would've gone for Shawn/Jada actually a Shawn/Jada/Rafe triangle would've been better.

John called Paul to say he has a grandfather and he flew from Seattle yet John didn't tell Brady or Belle yet?

And have they not done paternity test yet? John has had 50 father's, he should test before calling Paul?

So Shawn forgets that entire Jan situation during Belle/EJ?

I like the Alex and Theresa chemistry.

Bad plot device to have Andrew go to Alex and see Theresa there when he could have just spoken to Brady.

Seeing RSW in a towel - again - reminded me of a story about the old days in Hollywood, when an actress who was famous for appearing in those 50's Roman gladiator movies made a big fuss about her male co-star, a guy who started out in the body building magazines and went on to acting from there.  When told he was going to be her co-star, she flat out refused, saying "I'm not gonna play opposite a guy who has bigger #$@% than I have!"

Yeah, Show we know ya'll think the world swoons at seeing RSW in as little as possible, but most of us have already seen a big roll of baloney and we're not impressed.  Put him between two slices of wonder bread with some mustard and maybe, just maybe, you'd have something.

His body seems as devoid of body hair as the moon is of life.

I have a fondness for Brandon Beemer, because even though he's not very good, he really tries.  But, try as he might, this isn't working.  It doesn't help that Show decided to pair him up with a woman who sounds like she used to sing the Woody Woodpecker song.  I'm sure the bartender threw them both out for being painfully embarrassing.

I'm assuming this is the last we'll see of Dick Van Dyke?  He'll disappear into a back bedroom, never to be seen again until one day, Rachel returns and mistakes him for an evil Jack in the Box?  I kid.  The man is a legend and him getting a turn at being John's father is only fair, since everyone else has gotten to be his father, too.

Thank God he decided not to bounce his baby boy on his knee or they'd both need hip replacements.

Ya...I mean, they figured this out the morning of the funeral, and he had time to call Paul to tell him, and for Paul to fly out, before bringing Tim home to meet the immediate family? Huh? Since when does Paul appear that quickly? He wasn't there when Marlena "died", right? I don't see the reasoning for him popping up so fast.

Also interesting that Paul and Sonny are technically in town at the same time for the first time since Tinker took over the role, right?

LOLOLOL! Thank you. After the day I've had I really needed the laugh. And what's sad is that...I could totally see them doing that, the way they've been acting.

I'd like to think DVD will do more that disappear into a back room, but history tells me not to get my hopes up. It would make sense for him to pop up again at Christmas or something - at least! - but I'm doubtful.

In his YT interview on set with Eric M, DVD said he'd love to come back and Eric said he'd be welcomed any time. And he seemed to be wearing the same wardrobe as he was today so...I assume it was a short stint and this was the end of it.

So yea, I'm guessing it's another vanishing act.

I couldn't agree more. It's as if DVD said to Drake "get me on that soap...I need a few more acting credits to maintain my SAG insurance".  Acting? What acting?

I knew Gwen wasn't this dense. Looking forward to her revenge plot.

Theresa is super annoying. I missed her first time on the show and not regretting that.

No Ron, I don't need to see greased up shirtless Benalex daily

Forgot Gabi and Stefan were still on the show

I liked Dimitri hate of Vivian for burying Carly alive and the alamain's.I did laugh at him saying he couldn't give Kristen het share of his inhertiance because he had expenses he lives in a mansion rent free he doesn't have to pay bills. What expenses does he have that cost 20 million dollars.

I have had a feeling Gwen has known for awhile now curious when she found out though.

She wasn't everyone's cup of tea in all her arcs, but she was definitely not this annoying. It's the writing.

At least before, Theresa called out Jennifer and Abigail for their haughty entitled BS, and gossiped with her BFF Anne. Later she became a fashion designer and was legitimately working hard towards her goals and trying to be a good mother and wife.

This...thing is not Theresa. She's a vapid annoying cartoon character, which tracks with Ron's preferences. Theresa at this point in her life wouldn't be so desperate.

This stuff with Theresa is bizarre. I remember the beginning of her initial character arc (ie her cokehead days with JJ) but I didn't watch during the end of her time on the show, and it seems weird that she's this hung up on Brady.

...changed into what? An insecure child whose sole purpose is suddenly to fawn over two of the show's least appealing male characters?

YOU ARE FINE. YOU ARE BETTER THAN BONEHEAD BRADY.

*primal scream*

This is the most misogynistic writing. Theresa, who runs a company and raises her son without any help from Brady, is now desperate to change herself to please him because, and I quote, "no one else measures up!"

I hope Dimitri succeeds in killing Gabi and Stefan, then when he’s carted off to prison, I hope Gwen takes him for all the money he has.

I don't buy he would say that either same with Kim. The last time they were onscreen together Shane (and Kim) pretty much called her out for her antics. Which is how I expect them to treat Theresa because that's how they dealt with Eve.
