FnkyChkn34 September 8, 2022 Share September 8, 2022 I love the photo with Bo and the ugly Christmas sweater! But also, and this is slightly off topic, but a reason why I hate recasts with actors who were already on the show in a different role - is that a photo with Nicole and oldBrady or Nicole and newRex? I'm sure it's oldBrady from the context, but still. Ugh. And is Victor choking Ben or Alex with the tie? Again, I'm sure it's Ben, but... double ugh. 2 Link to comment

If you can find any, by all means post 'em! I spent quite some time trying to find pics. Amazingly there isn't much. Bo/Victor, Hope/Victor and Kim/Victor were especially scarce. And this forum doesn't accept links to pics from certain sites, which also limits things. 1 hour ago, FnkyChkn34 said: I hate recasts with actors who were already on the show in a different role Exactly. Now we have confusion with Chris/Roman, Brady/Rex and Ben/Alex. So dumb. 1 hour ago, FnkyChkn34 said: And is Victor choking Ben or Alex with the tie? But, per the Soap Opera Network board, where a Top 57 (in honor of its [almost] 57 years on NBC!) actors/characters in terms of airtime, apparently, before Victor Kiriakis, John Aniston had a role 15 years before Victor, in 1970. (Guessing it was a minor character.) The board has photos of - I think - both roles... 2 1 Link to comment

DisneyBoy November 14, 2022 Author Share November 14, 2022 What a weekend. Kevin Conroy and John Aniston. We were so, so lucky to have him all these years. I hope - but doubt - the show filmed something in anticipation of his passing to give the character some closure. No more Pop-Up Victor 😔 5 Link to comment
methodwriter85 November 14, 2022 Share November 14, 2022 (edited) It would be nice if Jennifer leveled with Ken Corday that John didn't have much time left (anybody watching the show could see it) and they wrote him off appropriately, but with their past experience with Joesph/Stefan, I really wouldn't hold my breath. Peanut6711 November 14, 2022 Share November 14, 2022 Given how disjointed many of Days's normal transitions/scene cuts are, it won't surprise me if we get a grieving Maggie showing up at Zander and Sarah's door with the news of Victor's passing out of the blue. I suppose it wouldn't technically be unrealistic given Victor's age for it to be abrupt news, though I think I'd prefer the delivery of it be between Maggie and Justin (since he's been on the show w/John since the 80s) revealing that Victor passed unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep. 5 Link to comment
greekmom November 14, 2022 Share November 14, 2022 Just came here to say I will miss Victor. I was a huge DOOL fan in the 80s up to the time the had Marlena possessed (first time) and thought the show jumped the shark and never watched again. My fave has to be when John must have convinced the Days producers to go to Greece for Justin and Andrianne's first wedding. Also when Bo found out he is Victor's son and tried to cozy up for the ISA. Ahhhh those were the Days. (no pun intended). 3 3 Link to comment
Lisa418722 November 14, 2022 Share November 14, 2022 (edited) I was a teenager when I started watching DOOL, but I always loved the Shawn Sr./Caroline/Victor triangle. I know it wasn't a major triangle with Caroline going back and forth between Shawn and Victor, but it showed even though Caroline was older she still remembered how much she loved Victor. It took a while, but Bo did accept having Victor as his father. Those were the Days (pun intended). Edited November 14, 2022 by Lisa418722 1 3 Link to comment
RunningMarket November 14, 2022 Share November 14, 2022 The photos of John and Joseph break my heart. While I didn't love all the lines he was asked to deliver, (the use of "slut" was a bit excessive), John had this way of delivering the snark and insults in such a way you just delighted in it. What a a pathetic legacy to leave behind after the glory of what John Aniston did with his role. I was thinking the same thing earlier! They should have built up Victor's family better over the years. I believe Wally is doing double duty on Days and GH, but I hope they can work it out that he plays a prominent role in Victor's death reveal/tribute. I really hope it doesn't become a plot to prop Zander as he and Brady and Sonny/Alex fight over control of the company like the Dimeras do on a regular basis. Edited to Add: I hope JKJ comes back too since he played alongside JA on and off years as Philip, who I actually forgot about at the moment. Edited November 14, 2022 by Peanut6711 3 Link to comment

Well tbh it makes sense after Victor tried to take Claire away from him so Phillip could have her etc. They weren't close which is fitting given his namesake however that doesn't mean they couldn't have scenes or at least an uneasy alliance in that they love the same people(Ciara, Bo, etc). The show dropped the ball in that regard(and in so many other ways) 2 Link to comment

Thank you for saying that. It was not until Bo got cancer that he finally relented about Victor. Before that he always kept Victor at arms length out of respect for his sisters who Victor victimized for years and his dad Sean. I remember Bo and Hope talking about their apprehension regarding Victor and their kids.. So Ciara came along when Bo was cordial to Victor and allowed him to have a relationship with her.. 5 Link to comment
Panopticon November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 Right before the Cruise of Deception, Bo and Hope had a major fight about whether they were going to return to Salem so Shawn-D could go to a normal school or stay on the ocean forever. Bo’s reason for wanting to stay at sea? He didn’t want Victor to have access to Shawn-D! After Hope’s “death” at Ernesto’s hands, Bo acceded to her wishes and took little Shawn home. Victor tried to comfort his motherless grandson— only to have toddler!Shawn pipe up “my mommy didn’t like you.” When Victor did get some access to Shawn, he discussed “bribing a jury” in front of him, not knowing that Shawn-D had recovered from a bout of deafness. Shawn-D was smart enough to wait until he was alone with Bo to ask “what’s a bribe and what’s a jury?” and Bo used Shawn-D to get Victor convicted. And of course Shawn was well aware that Victor essentially kept Carly prisoner when Carly wanted to be with Bo… even if he didn’t know the details of Victor dropping Carly down an elevator shaft while trying to murder Bo and leave Shawn an orphan. Shawn definitely understood it when Bo was dying of Lawrence’s virus (little Shawn-D had to call 911), and Victor refused to help until Carly implied that she would sleep with him if he did. By the time Ciara came along, Victor had been majorly softened by Isabella’s death; Shawn Senior was gone; and Bo/Hope were no longer so concerned about putting restrictions on their children’s access to Victor. But I kind of love that Shawn-D remained a product of the era in which he grew up. (Though truthfully his attitude toward Victor was probably more informed by Victor trying to steal Claire for Philip.) 1 2 Link to comment
CanaryFan98 November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 @Panopticon your post really drives home how they have marginalized Shawn D through the years. He used to be a pivotal character of the children then he's been reduced to Belle's appendage and not much else. I would like to think its because of ancient history he distrusts Victor but really its about Claire(which also makes since Claire is his daughter and she comes first). Speaking of Claire when they inevitably kill off Victor is she going to return to Salem to pay her respects. She did love her Pop Pop(although I don't buy Victor would accept her calling him that tbh). 3 Link to comment
Panopticon November 20, 2022 Share November 20, 2022 I think Victor might suck it up and stomach Claire calling him pop-pop because he was glad to have her in his life, but I can’t imagine him liking it. As for who comes back for the inevitable tribute, until proven otherwise I’ll expect that everything will revolve around Ciara and Ben until the ghostly form of Daniel Jonas visits from heaven to announce that Victor has safely entered the next world. My self-indulgent fantasy includes, among other things that can’t actually happen for assorted real-life reasons: Shane and Kim escorting Tate to his great-grandfather’s funeral and privately making sure Victor’s really dead. Simultaneous appearances by all four of Justin’s sons. Simultaneous appearances by all of Bo’s surviving children. That means Chelsea, too. The reappearance of Philip’s long-lost son Tyler, possibly out for revenge. Lucas has a flashback to being a teenager playing tennis with Victor. Because this is my fantasy, I’m partial to Lucas, and those scenes were cute. All of Victor’s ex-wives having a drink together. Most especially Vivian. Non-wives like Yvette can come too. (And since this is fiction, Diana can appear in the form of Genie Francis and ignore anything attributed to the character in the last five years.) Victor’s will takes a week to read because he’s called out 100 different Salemites by name, just for giggles. Jennifer Aniston makes a cameo as the head of the crime family who absorbed Victor’s Greek businesses. Bonus points if she actually speaks Greek in the process. 1 7 Link to comment

In Shawn's case I think it has more to do with the actor in the role than anything else. They wrote for JC's Shawn with Belle and without her with Mimi, he had his own stories too. Once Brandon Beemer was cast they seemingly had a different mindset when it came to Shawn. Rather it be he sucks or someone behind the scenes just doesn't like him as Shawn, they started writing him as nothing besides Belle's better half. They don't involve him in family stuff like they do with Ciara see Beyond Salem both times. What also doesn't help is that their isn't a equal footing with him/MM like their was with JC/KS & JKJ/MM. If you were just watching this show you would not know that Shawn drove stories in his teen yrs & early 20s as part of the Last Blast Gang. Look how they treated him in his own rape story with Jan & Belle earlier this yr. Like I barely remember him a pov outside of being dumb down for Jan too move in with them & Belle have a reason to cheat again. 6 Link to comment

(To be fair, there’s no reason Brady should know the dirty details of what Victor got up to long before Brady was born… but it was still funny.)
