Thoughts…42 people went through to choreography?   We saw what, a dozen?   Now, 1 week of choreography and the live shows start on the 15th.

Liked the guy with the hat and the one with the red jacket   Girl with the red dress didn’t get why she didn’t make it to the next round, but she was all about character and not technique.

And maybe this is part of knowing why Matthew Morrison was fired, but I thought is interactions with JoJo, who was 18 when this was filmed (she turned 19 in May), seemed a little off considering that at 43, he was old enough to be her father.  tWich commented and tried to play it off, but I thought he was a bit uncomfortable.

Malia it’s also a no from me, dawg.  And if you don’t know why, I can’t help you.

I was confused by Waverly’s backstory.  At first he was like “my mom’s dance career was awesome” and then it was like “when my parents were divorced she abandoned me to take care of my siblings”.  Regardless, I felt badly for him.

I really really really really hated the slow motion during Tiago’s dance and I hope they never do it again.

The show had plenty of time to edit out a lot of weirdness with Matthew (tWitch’s interview, “she winked at you!”, etc.) and they should have looked into doing that.

So for audition #3, Jojo said she only wanted dances that gave her chills. Why didn't they apply that to the first two days? Your fancy/tragic backstory is only useful until we reach our appropriate cannon fodder level. You should have auditioned earlier.

I do have to say that I've enjoyed most of the auditions I've seen in the three audition shows. Even the ones that didn't make it to choreography were interesting in some way. This is a welcome departure from some previous seasons.

Thiago: Well, it was unusual, I'll give him that.

Essence: I like her vibe!

Camila: Good performance.

Decoy: That was very fun, good.

Ralyn: I recognize some flaws, but interested in seeing how she develops, could be good.

Letting montages be montages this time.

Malia: Cute!

Waverly: Good mover and performer, didn't get the routine personally.

Who on that judge's panel can "speak to technique" for the Ballroom style? I have that answer.....no one. That is a diservice to the ballroom dancers who train so hard in their style. I don't miss Mary Murphy's screaming but I do miss her expertise. This show needs a ballroom specialist on that panel.

Jo Jo can leave any time. Seeing her in Nigel's seat just does not sit well with me.......at all.

Maybe I am misremembering, but I thought Nigel sat on the end where MM is sitting?

I just looked up images of the judge's panel of this show. Nigel has sat in all three chairs, just not all at once. LOL. Usually, he sits in the right seat (our right) for the auditions and then sits in the left seat (our left) for the live shows. There are some images of him in the middle seat too.

One thing I do appreciate this season is they aren’t showing a bunch of really bad auditions and the drama that ensues when delusional contestants don’t go through. All of the people they rejected so far (that we’ve seen) seem to have some talent, just not quite strong enough to go through.
If they don’t bring Nigel or Mary back to replace Matthew on the live shows I hope they bring in an old ballroom contestant like Pasha so there is some ballroom expertise represented on the panel.
Weird how they barely show Cat.

I was thinking of either Pasha or Anya as a judge yesterday.  They've had other good alumni ballroom dancers like Ryan which are not contracted with DWTS since I don't know if they can do both.

The guy with the red jacket was impressive not just in characterization but his technique.

But I'm not sure why he was the only one to have special effects added to his performance. Or why the effects were needed.

Yes, his audition was different than others.  He must not have a sob story either.  Not that I want to see one but reality shows like to show background stories of people that faced some adversity in their life.
