A renowned pediatric surgeon is called over to Chastain for an extremely difficult surgery on a newborn, but when she arrives, The Raptor and Devon realize she is not fit for surgery, resulting in a situation more complicated than they could have imagined. Meanwhile, a Dolly Parton drag queen is admitted to the ER after collapsing on stage, leading Bell and Ezra to a potentially life-saving discovery. Also, Nic and Conrad suspect their patient may be the victim of sex trafficking and Nadine delivers some surprising news to Devon.

The drunk heart surgeon totally brought back memories of season 1 when all kind of crazy shit went down in the ORs.   Are they seriously not going to have the surgeon face any kind of consequences other than AJ telling her she needs help?  That seems rather lax even for this show.

Bell continues to rack up a string of wins.  I would have never pegged him for a country music fan.

Yay to no Cain or Kim, but where was Mina?

I don't believe that the super rich, super important King didn't have the doctor from Boston fly down to Atlanta the moment his niece went into labor. I also don't believe that there are no real consequences for the drunk doctor who almost killed a baby.

The Doll E. Wood story was cute, though I seriously question letting the resident who hasn't been in an OR yet participate in any substantive way. Suction should have been the absolute most he was doing.

The human trafficking story had a happy ending but that was pretty dark.

A minus is that we also didn't have Mina. And, without Mina or Kit or even Jessica, they made me realize how lacking they are of female doctors or nurses. But at least Cain and Kim disappeared for the episode. I didn't miss the Red Rock stuff at ALL.

Man, this was a pretty good episode. I liked how things played out and getting back to the more normal issues for the show, instead of constant business deals gone wrong. I'd gladly take severe alcoholic doctor over more Red Rock drama.

I forgot about Ezra (?) the intern. I think he was one I was annoyed with at the beginning of the season, or whenever he showed up. Speaking of, where's the older lady intern? They sure got rid of her quite quickly!

Ah, Devon's new girlfriend is great but it seems like she's now gone for good. Or, they'll bring her back to reveal that she's pregnant, after they hooked up at the hospital (presumably). But I trust this show enough where they won't go totally cliche. This show likes having bureaucratic drama, not regular drama.

Such a dark storyline with the trafficking story. I feel bad for the poor girl, but I'm glad things ended up happy. We needed some more wins like this.

Bell is fantastic. It's stunning to see how far he's come since season 1, when I actively rooted for his demise.

Where the heck has Kit been for the last few episodes? I hope it means Jane Leeves (love her!) has been busy with a bunch of other projects but will be back... and not that they’ve run out of storyline for Kit.

Really loved Bell in this episode. Yes, he’s come a long way since season 1. But I’m wondering — is his medication for the hand tremors working so well, or have the writers completely retconned HODAD, or what? Nobody even blinked at the idea of him doing this delicate surgery. Season 1 Bell would have needed Mina in there secretly working the DaVinci.

Ezra looked familiar but I didn’t remember much about him from earlier in the season. He comes across kind of overeager, but I hope they keep him around. He seems a lot more likable than the interns on a certain other show (*cough*Grey’s*cough*).

P.S. The name “Doll E.” kept cracking me up because it made me think of Don E. from iZombie!

I really enjoyed this episode and thought the ending with Doll E alive and doing what she loved was great. I am wondering if it will come back to haunt the hospital that they let a doctor operate under the influence. Wealthy people don’t just accept any daughter, they would pay to have the best doctor fly in.

Doll E. was cute, with appropriate dimple-age, but that wig was all kinds of wrong.

Wait, the princess is named 'Nadine'? Is that a common middle eastern name?

Does anybody know who the actress was who played the drunk surgeon-she looked so familiar.

Looked her up on IMDB: her name is Rebecca Wisocky. I didn’t know where I recognized her from, either. Apparently she was in Devious Maids, which I never watched. Where I’d seen her was as Deke Slayton’s wife in For All Mankind.

So what’s the point of the Devon/Nadine storyline? Is she just going back to her home country, never to be seen again?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but it wouldn’t break my heart if Devon decided to take her father up on his job offer and move there with her. After the Jenna Dewan storyline I really lost respect for him.

I see a spinoff here:  The Resident, Bollywood live from Mumbai.

She was *amazing* on Devious Maids.  She's the reason I was sad it was cancelled so soon.  Her character was so, so funny!

Still watching the episode.  Does anyone else cover their eyes when they're in the OR?

Not always, but the infant heart beating was more than I could handle

This was a good episode, but I really hope they reported drunk surgeon so she could get the help she needs.

I am also shocked that the King didn't just charter a plane to get that super surgeon flown down from Boston the second the woman went into labor.

At least there was no Red Rock stuff this episode? But also no Mina.... hm.
