So basically in each episode, when they have figured out who committed the crimes Barnaby does his long speech to explain all the twists and turns and get the suspect talking while Nelson slowly creeps around the back to subdue them. Sigh. Honestly, I think I like the home scenes more than the rest, mostly because of Sykes! Sykes is delightful and I don't generally even like dogs. Sarah makes John less annoying to me and the baby is fine, at least there's not too much focus on her. But I do agree that they are a little bit cutesy. I like Nelson well enough. I've gotten to the Kam as Forensic Pathologist episodes. Are they trying to set her and Charlie up as a romantic couple? Oh no, Sykes! The various murders are starting to repeat themselves and getting somewhat boring, I can miss large chunks of the show and not really care enough to rewind and catch up. I don't think the diversity really has changed much of anything in how the show is put together. There are like what, maybe 2 or 3, additional people of color in the episodes? I think that barely changes a thing. There's been more a decline overall. Welp. Totally didn't realize that Charlie was gone now. I guess I should be happy that they at manage to slip in a quick reference to where each DS has gone. Hopefully, I can find series 20 streaming someplace once I get through these series 19 episodes. This has become a show that I put on when I don't have anything else to watch but I kinda want to watch something.

Amazon saves the Expanse! That’s where I watched the show to begin with and I had just finished season 2 when the news was announced that SyFy cancelled it. I almost couldn’t watch season 3 because I didn’t want to continue if we would never know what happened. This might even make the increase in my Prime account worth it after all! Happy weekend news and now I’ll start on season 3!

Shows how little I was paying attention, didn't even realize that they just aired season 2!

I really enjoyed that. I got a little choked up at the very end as the van was driving away and they were telling Winston that the prank was way too big. Ha. Lots of really good lines. Although I wasn't thrilled that the show came back, this really was a lovely way to send off the show. Loved the flash forward to them playing True American with their kids. Those kids will be SO weird and I love it and they will all have each other to be weird with as they grow up. I'll add the show had its issues during the run, with some very strong seasons and some not so strong seasons (Nick/Jess years). The 1st season was so enjoyable and it was a shame when they started to lose focus. This last season was a great way to tie it back to the show's strengths. I loved all of them, with Jess being my least favorite of the main crew. The rest of the cast really grew into their characters and it was delightful to watch.

Continuity Errors: Starts With the House Layout and Just Gets Worse
msani19 replied to Bastet's topic in The Golden Girls
Question: has anyone figured out how many times the "girls" were engaged to some guy they just met? It felt like there was at least 1 or 2 every season. Hallmark just flipped back to the pilot (what's up Coco? Ha!) and Blanche has decided to marry Harry, the man she's known for a week. I was always amazed at how many men they were so crazy about they were going to get married. Then Harry turns out to be a bigamist. What police officer goes to a stranger's house to deliver a criminal's personal note? WTH! That was so ridiculous, but at least the show was preparing us for lots of things that wouldn't make sense in future episodes! Ugh, as many have noted the math in this show never adds up! Dorothy and Stan were married for 38 years and it was a "shotgun" wedding. Was Dorothy supposed to be in high school? Making her around 18? Wasn't Stan around that age as well? But Dorothy says Stan was a 65-year-old man with gout learning to windsurf. If they were married 38 years and Stan is 65 at that point, that would make Stan 27 when they got married. Was Stan that much older than Dorothy? Did I miss something? I know for sure that their ages were moved all over the place throughout the show. But the one piece of continuity was that Dorothy and Stan were married for 38 years (even though their child was distinctly NOT 38 years old, but that is for another post!) Argh, Sophia aggravates me. -

Exactly this. Even in the flashbacks, Sophia is being a jerk to someone. So I don't think that her saying nasty things was a new occurrence, it might have become worse with her stroke but I think she was always mean. She would really go out of her way to be nasty, even when it wasn't necessary. Maybe it was the way Estelle Getty played the character. From articles that I've read, she was considered the "weak link" in the cast. I think after all these viewings, I would agree. While she had many funny lines, sometimes her delivery left something to be desired. Maybe that impacted how her lines landed? Or I could be overthinking this whole Sophia thing and I can just go back to she was awful, plain and simple. -
Still chugging through the episodes... John Barnaby has this tendency to have this odd, smug smile on his face whenever he's around suspects like he's suggesting "I know something you don't know". It's bloody annoying. I miss the relationship DS Jones had with Tom. It was respectful and there was a genuine fondness between them. Tom valued Ben and also took pleasure in teasing him which was cute. Ben admired Tom and you could tell he was learning from him. With John, it's not quite adversarial and maybe they are trying to get comfortable with each other, I just don't remember this strange tension between Tom and his other DS's. Or maybe I just need to get used to the new episodes :-)

There's no media topic for the show. The show got renewed for a second season which really surprises me cause it was only so-so. Kevin Can Wait was canceled, not shocking. I just thought CBS would dump the whole hour of sitcoms and start over. Turns out CBS owns Man with a Plan but not Kevin Can Wait, so it made more sense to keep MWAP. Maybe season 2 will improve, but it just seems like a painfully typical, middle of the road, sitcom. Nothing special.

I said yes to every one of your suggestions, but if they do nothing else but this one, then it will all be worth it! I know He'd be totally into it. Plus, Mark Hamill was excellent on the season finale of the Big Bang theory, so I have no doubt, with these writers, they would give him some great material.

Nicely played NBC. I am pleased.

The show is canceled. Not too terribly surprised. I liked the show better the 1st season but it was something enjoyable enough to watch. I don't think there will be any fan uproar to get the show back like Brooklyn 99. ‘Superior Donuts’ Canceled By CBS After 2 Seasons

Sofia is horrible if you watch enough episodes in a row. She is downright cruel and abusive towards Dorothy. It makes my blood boil! I don't think it had anything to do with the stroke, convenient excuse, she's an awful mother. Plus, she's a total jackass to Rose and Blanche all the time as well. They were all saints to not put her in the worst home they could find and leave her there. Granted, she does have some excellent moments but overall, Sophia in small doses is the best amount of Sofia.- 818 replies

No, I'm also not terribly surprised. I don't think that the show found it's footing, but Zach Braff threw everything he had into the role!

Wasn't the sheriff in the Vegas jail the actor who used to be on Coach? I haven't checked IMDB yet, but I'm pretty sure it is one of the guys from that show. I had no problem with what Bonnie said NOR when she said it. Christy constantly tears into Bonnie for everything. I mean, Bonnie gets on my nerves quite frequently, but in this situation, I was rooting for her. Christy gambled away $4K AND diamond earrings and wanted to act like it was a minor mistake. "My bad"...whatever. Bonnie was completely right as far as I was concerned. Bonnie didn't ruin Christy's big day, Christy did that by throwing away their very thoughtful gift. It wasn't even that they were diamond earrings, it was the thought that went into it from the group, something they thought she'd really appreciate and how excited they were to share it with her. I'd be furious. For some reason, I was more annoyed for Jill and I liked how Jamie played her annoyance at Christy. Because Jill is wealthy people feel like money is inconsequential to her. Maybe $2k isn't a huge amount to her, but as mentioned above, it's the principle. What amount would Christy feel comfortable just taking form Jill and not care? I really hate when people spend other people's money because they think it's no big deal for the richer person. Christy has acted like this with Jill before. I'm surprised but not surprised that she got into law school. I guess they wanted to give her some victory, but she now has 2 addictions to manage plus 1L is super stressful. Can she handle that? Do we really think Bonnie and Adam will get married?

Really good episode. I was afraid with these writers we would get a trope heavy cliched snooze fest with misunderstanding and hijinks. Instead this was one of the best episodes they have done in a long while! Shiuld I ever get a dog, his name shall be Bark Hamill. I loved how perplexed Mark looked at all those Star Wars questions and how Stuart just knew all the answers. Was Kripe supposed to sing at the end? It was hilarious and weird all at the same time. I still cracked up when Penny said “I’m pumped” since it’s been in all the commercials. I was surprisingly touched during the vows. Nice use of all the family members too. Edit: this link addresses why there was no Mee Maw. Show was running long and that was cut for time. Some other interesting stuff as well http://deadline.com/2018/05/the-big-bang-theory-finale-showrunner-steve-holland-wedding-guests-season-12-jim-parsons-1202383692/

Considering this has been the top trending topic on twitter Fox may have a rough evening ahead. The fact that fans have so quickly expressed their displeasure means they underestimated our adoration for this show. I wonder if there wasn’t something behind the scenes that lead to this decision. Whatever, this needs to be corrected. Stupid Fox.

Worst of Golden Girls: Your Least Favorite Moments
msani19 replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in The Golden Girls
Completely agree with everyone on how quickly they would turn on each other. That happened a few times in each season. Honestly, if my "best friends" believed the worst thing about me, shut me out, wouldn't listen to me or be there for me, we would not be "best friends", let alone friends. They would routinely say let's never fight like that again, and then they totally would. Ugh. I don't see why the writers would go this route so regularly over the 7 seasons. I know when I had roommates (hey, college!), we would fight but that was mostly because of someone didn't do the dishes and it was her turn, or she was hogging the bathroom or the phone (before everyone had cell phones, wow, can you even imagine!). But we never attacked each other viciously! -
Not in any particular order, but after just talking about how much I enjoy KOQ, I just saw an episode that annoys me so much! lol. It's mostly cause it highlights how selfish and immature Doug could be. The episode was the one where they needed $12k to address mold in their house and they didn't have the money and Doug had to call his parents for it. It was funny when Arthur is in the kitchen with them when they were trying to figure out what to do and Arthur is in the way. Hey, at least he was willing to *anything* to help out the kids! Doug's Dad asking him for his "books" was hilarious. The look on Doug's face was hysterical. Although considering that Doug's parents seemed to be pretty frugal and paid attention to how they spent their money, they certainly didn't teach Doug anything about responsibility or being an adult. But we see that throughout the show, so it's not just related to how blase he is around money. What drove me crazy was when his Dad is going through their "books" (which only existed because Carrie actually bothered to keep track of anything) and then throws Carrie's closet open and tells Doug he needs to get her "under control". Umm....yeah, no. Carrie is an adult woman who works a full-time job and earned a decent amount. Doug's reaction annoyed me, but his Dad going through Carrie's things the way he did, made me so angry. It was patronizing and sexist. We know Carrie hates knockoffs (so do I, so I do not judge!) and she was dressing for her environment which makes sense. Doug wears the same uniform to work. I've worked in different work environments. One was in Manhattan and was a well-known company and people in that office dressed SO WELL. They weren't all in designer clothes but they certainly were very well put together. My current office is one notch shy of allowing people to wear sweats in the office! I still dress like it's my old office and they talk about me all the time! Those are the work clothes I have and I actually don't feel comfortable dressing so casually for work either. Anyway, back to the show! I liked how at the end Doug said to Carrie that next time she could just crumple the check and not rip it up! As with most shows, the finances are used as a convenient plot point when needed, so I take a lot of things with a grain of salt. I can definitely see Carrie and Doug not saving very much - I mean if it wasn't for Carrie, they wouldn't have any retirement savings at all and Doug was the type of guy who was lucky to have a solid union job. They did seem to spend without really caring and also mentioned having debt. They were pretty typical, so it was annoying for his Dad to get so self-righteous about their finances. A small part of me did understand where his dad was coming from as well though, just not the way he went about it or his conclusion as to what the "problem" was. They were a dual-income, no kid, except Arthur household (did Arthur have anything like Social Security?) so it was odd that they seemed to never have money when they needed it. If I was asked for $12,000 from a family member, I also would ask them "where are your books?"...

Even if the King of Queens didn't exist, Kevin Can Wait is just a bad sitcom. However, because there is KOQ, Kevin Can Wait seems even worse in comparison. I still enjoy watching the KOQ episodes, as people have mentioned, there are lots of funny lines and situations. It might be nice to revive this forum now that I've seen KCW and cringe.

It was very painful.

I just reached the season with new DCI John Barnaby and I'm trying to get a sense of him. I haven't warmed up to him quite yet. There's something about the way he carries himself, somewhat aloof, above-it-all, knows everything already. I suppose insufferable and pompous might be the way to describe it! Although I'm not yet at season 20, so it probably just gets worse. I've noticed that Sarah and John are more physically affectionate with each other than Tom and Joyce were. Although we all knew that Tom and Joyce absolutely adored each other and were very happy with their lives. I do miss DCI Tom Barnaby!

Yes, you would think!

Wow, those flashback scenes were brutal. With all the work that Leah has done to her face, it didn’t work at all. So difficult to look at her. I think I'm really tired of shows doing flashbacks cause the actors look increasingly ridiculous but it seems like it's such a popular tv writing trope. Seriously, bringing Chris Rock and Adan Sandler in was a desperate move and somehow still not good. Kevin James loves to include his family in his shows. That was his wife with Leah in the flashback scene.
