  1. @Ms Lark: I totally agree with you. I hate the turn they are taking, makes no sense and ugh.
  2. I saw that the announcement isn't getting a very positive reaction. Combination of Lena Waithe and her controversy and the general response to Aziz's situation. The 2 seasons were so good, even without the issues that happened, that I was already worried that another season wouldn't live up to the anticipation. We shall see. I'll watch it and see how I feel.
  3. Bob is delightful! I could watch his stories for hours. I will definitely check out Taskmaster. thanks for the suggestion.
  4. I love this show! It showed up in my YouTube feed and I can't figure out why, could be because I watch a lot of Graham Norton videos. I'd never heard of Lee Mack before and was vaguely familiar with David Mitchell, the two of them together, with Rob, is dynamite. I obsessively watched every available episode, until I discovered that it had arrived on BritBox. Lee Mack has become an absolute favorite of mine now, the ludicrous lies the writers come up for him bring me to near tears because he SELLS it!! I love David as well with his fussiness and general outrage at all things. I get so excited when I see Bob Mortimer or Rhod Gilbert are guests on the show because whatever INSANE thing they say, it's probably true! I'm so glad there's a place to talk about this show!

Another fave line is "welcome to potatoes"
  6. You have got to be kidding me! The show has been renewed for a second season! Just wow https://deadline.com/2021/04/kaley-cuoco-flight-attendant-chad-california-tax-credits-relocation-hbo-max-tbs-1234739331/

Do any of you use at least one quote from the show on at least a daily basis? No, huh, just me? Oh ok then...yeah, whatever. That's not weird at all. My BF just randomly sent me a text with only the two words "harvest wheat" and I've been laughing ever since. He's a Fraiser weirdo too which a main reason I keep him around.

That staircase is amazing. I always crack up when Frasier yells in exasperation at Niles "You have FOUR roofs over your head!" The gift wrapping room, hilarious. Never change Niles!
  9. I really liked the actress when see played the girlfriend on New Girl, she was hilarious and charming on that show. I didn't know she been on SNL. This show is the worst thing I've seen in a LONG time. I remember seeing the promos for this and thought it was a weird premise for a show and not particularly funny. I was not wrong. Awful. So cringeworthy. I didn't make it through the first episode. How did this one make it onto the air? Ugh.

That's the layout I was thinking off! It is a wild looking layout! The one thing that always, always made me laugh was when they would go into the very open kitchen to have private conversations! That design was weird.

There have been estimates that based on where the apartment is in Seattle currently, the apartment would be upwards of $3-4M. So going back in time, the estimate is around $1M. Of course, this is all make believe since there isn't really a part of Seattle with the view that he has (view of the Space Needle etc). Maybe $1M is on the very high-end of what the apartment would have been worth in the early 90s, but maybe possibly around 500k? Aren't there floor plans floating around for his apartment? I know I've seen one in the past but can't recall right now. I'll see if I can find it. I do think the place is 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms. Each bedroom had a bathroom and the powder room off the living room.

I thought he got the opportunity to get syndication with taking over that show time in Spokane? I don't think he was more widely heard than that, but did he mention something like if you had a really good car radio someone could hear it - ugh I can't remember where! I do agree that $27,000/ year as his salary is not reasonable even in the 90s. Yes, I'd say he was making 6-figures. If we go with the money he made as a very pricey psychiatrist in Boston and possibly some decent investments, then I can almost make myself believe it. What makes it hard to believe though is that he spent exactly the way Niles did. Niles, despite having his practice, was definitely spending Maris' fortune to support his lifestyle. Frasier didn't have that kind of pot of gold. Remember the episode where we meet his accountant who said he had to hire someone just to calculate his wine spending! I kinda figured Niles would probably have earned upwards of $200k- $350k. If Frasier earned a similar salary back in Boston (and maybe a little more), he might be able to buy a $1M+ apartment? Possibly. Sigh, am I overthinking this again? Yes indeed I am, it's one of my favorite pastimes.
  13. So true. L&O is our version of Midsomer. Almost every NYC-based actor has been on the show and I've heard interviews from actors who didn't get a part on the show years ago and still feel hurt by it.
  14. Anytime I see a British actor, I'm pretty sure they HAD to have been in an episode of Midsomer! That's true at least 95% of the time.

I always enjoy reading ken's blog but I hadn't seen that post yet. Good to know that the writers read these articles about the show too! I'm very comfortable with my ongoing ability to overthink a tv show that has been off the air for years.

Fun article: https://www.gq.com/story/how-did-frasier-afford-his-apartment Because I also can never get enough of trying to figure out how Fraiser could live that lifestyle on his Seattle local AM radio host salary! The article writer even contacted Joe Keenan (who wrote for Frasier) to ask how they would answer the question if it ever came up. I appreciate that even they knew the way he lived made no sense in reality! It's one of the eternal annoyances that comes up for any tv show is that none of these people can afford their apartments or houses! The one that has always made me nuts is the apartment on Friends, even the explanation doesn't ring true (it was Monica's grandmother's apartment and rent controlled), but whatever.
  17. Thanks. This is really helpful to know about Peacock. Continuous play seems like a no brainer to offer and I really need that now when I watch anything! It's been frustrating that this one show in particular was impossible to find on any streaming service. I was surprised it wasn't on Paramount+ (used to be CBS All Access) since it was a CBS show, but maybe CBS wasn't the studio that owned the show. That stuff is complicated and confusing. I do watch it on some of those cable networks but I'd prefer to watch without commercials. I've gotten so spoiled!
  18. I can wait a week! I did watch some episodes on YouTube but it got annoying to try to find full episodes so I decided to wait for BritBox. (Hi fellow Scorpio! I assume your handle means you're a Scorpio. Hi fellow Scorpio 👋🏽)

I agree with the idea that Freddie and Frasier will now live together to mirror the Frasier and Martin storyline. There's some nice synergy with that, in a way. We know very little about Freddie as a person outside the handful of his episodes but he was a kid then, so he'll be different as an adult. I'd really dig it since we could get some more Lilith, and that is always a good thing! However. with none of the original behind the scenes team involved as I had really wanted, this doesn't lend me to think it will be as good. I've also heard that Kelsey Grammer is on the only definite from the original cast. The ensemble and the writing is what has made Frasier stand out and has remained watchable 20+ years later. If the show had centered primarily on Frasier, just no! If they aren't going to have both sides of the winning equation, I'm really hesitant. We already won't have John and that will just make me sad. But it's Frasier, I'll give it a shot! Please don't do anything that will reduce my enjoyment of the original!
  21. I didn't like Bob's Burgers when it first started and I feel the same way about this show. I will give it chance like I did with Bob's Burgers which I now love!
  22. Season 10, Episode 1 and 2 are available in full on YouTube. The energy of the show remains the same. Florence is back and Ruby is gone. I'm not sure that I like the trade. Ruby grew on me despite making my eyes roll in the beginning. I always found the actress playing Florence extremely stiff.

I've gone back and forth about a reboot for the show. It is one of my all-time favorite shows, and has *mostly* held up with time, although some of those problematic themes are so cringe-worthy now. Other shows I've loved that have done reboots have not worked for one reason or another, so I can see why there might be the "well maybe *we* can get it right" idea. However, if there's a writing staff I'd believe in it would be Frasiers' (assuming they could get the band back together). Besides missing the presence of John Mahoney, wo I know they would honor with great reverence, it would be so sad to me. Anyway, I'll be curious to see what develops.
  24. Ovation Channel, which I had never heard of before, is showing episodes of Death in Paradise. Stumbled on it the other day, flipping through AT&TV (formerly Direct TV Now).
