  1. Agree. I miss Dwayne and Fidel as well. Speaking of other roles, I saw Gary Carr in the HBO show The Deuce, where he plays a pimp. It was so jarring because I loved Fidel, and I HATED his character (CC) in the Deuce so much! He had an American accent in that one too. He has great range as an actor, I'll say that!
  2. I totally agree with that sentiment. It's SO played out, tired, and lazy. I'm glad that wasn't part of Jack's story. I really enjoyed his time on the show.
  3. In response to the Commissioner being maybe corrupt: I don't think I ever found him corrupt. He knows all the power people on the island and be part of all the fancy clubs (which did annoy me). As commissioner, his position is pretty political so it implies he would need to mix among many powerful people which could suggest he's open for corruption, which I don't think he is. His character used to annoy me to no end but I've liked him more the last couple seasons. In the beginning, he would tell the DIs that whoever was being inspected or questioned was "one of Saint Marie's most respected..." almost as if that person shouldn't be brought in. Overall, he seems like a stand up guy who actually cares about the people who work for him. Neville may even be growing on him!
  4. Great point! It is about time we get a female DI. It would also be nice to have the DI not have feelings for their DS or vice versa. I think that might be why I liked when Jack was DI, he kept it professional and friendly and wasn't off falling in love with his co-worker.
  5. Renewed for season 2 https://deadline.com/2022/05/grand-crew-renewed-season-2-nbc-1234984400/
  6. Season 11 episodes 3 and 4 are up on BritBox. I know many don't have BritBox though so that's not exactly super helpful! I genuinely don't know when my local station airs the show. I've seen older episodes at random but I don't know about the regular schedule pattern.

    All Episodes Talk

Martin's age was definitely not consistent. Didn't he turn 65 twice? I might be remembering incorrectly, but I thought he was 65 in the early season and then the big episode with Sherry when he was "sexy-five" or whatever she used!
  8. After watching the first 2 episodes, I was re-watched some of the original episodes of WILTY. One of the things that stood out to me was how there wasn't the back and forth between the teams as with the UK panels. This version has been almost like an interrogation? It also clocks in at around 20 minutes which is pretty short. The fun and the magic happen when they all get into the story and we learn random asides that make things funnier or more ridiculous. Any Bob Mortimer story will do that! They need a Bob!
  9. You guys, "getting sucked off" will never NOT make me laugh. I have to admit the first time I heard it on the show I was like ummm, what! Makes it even funnier because they totally know what they are doing and lean into the joke but without overdoing it. I didn't expect to like this show as much. The cast, the stories, the pacing, the humor, are so good. There is so much potential for ghosts and B&B guests. I found attic girl absolutely terrible, so I'm glad she won't be on regularly.
  10. I agree there was no reason to have her back. Did it help Neville grow in some way? I don't know. I do know I hated every single minute of Neville having feelings for Florence, so I'm glad that we don't need to deal with it. I barely remember Madeline, she didn't bother but she also wasn't on long enough for me to have any position on her.
  11. @KITKAT343 everything you said rings so true, and I think it applies to many careers outside of teaching as well. At this point, Ava needs to stay principal, I mean they can't get rid of her and her character (as ridiculous as she is) brings a lot of laughs. She will definitely find a way. Ava's face when the superintendent told her oh yeah, I married the woman, so I've just been listening to you talk smack for the last couple hours. Just great. She couldn't even recover the way Ava normally would when thrown for a loop. Greg frankly won't be a great principal. Why does he even want to do it. For prestige? That's not a good (enough) reason. He still doesn't seem to have a joy for teaching either, though he has flashes here and there. Is he doing it to prove something to his critical father? The kids deserve someone who cares about them. That is certainly NOT Ava! Her indignant "everyday!!" response to hearing the kids arrive at 7:30am while funny just shows how she has no interest in her job. DJ Ava...girl, please. enough. Greg would be competent but not have any more passion for it than Ava. It's so aggravating when people think they can just get the top job with no prior experience in the field. You could see all the unanswered texts she had sent to her mom, I felt sad for her. Reggie Hayes (William from Girlfriends, LOVED that show!!) has had some difficulties since the show which was unfortunate, so I'm glad to see that he's gotten some work again. Jacob, be careful. You in danger boy.
  12. I'm not familiar with that show, but it's good to know that they have some experience in comedies
  13. Interesting. Aasif was on the Daily Show which where I remember him from and I enjoyed him on there. I know Matt Walsh from Veep (although I didn't recognize the name until I saw his picture), I am not familiar with Sabrina Jalees at all. Have the producers any experience with comedy, I've only seen them doing dramas, which bothers me. If they are able to have the back and forth and the quick wit from the original show then it could be good. LOL, it probably won't be good! Why can't we have nice things!
  14. Oh dear. What network and who are the host and the team captains? I can rewatch episodes of the original even though I know the outcome, because I just enjoy the back and forth. If I need a good belly laugh, I'll watch a few Bob episodes.
  15. Just saw that the rest of the season was up on Acorn. It was an improvement as others have mentioned. I generally find DCI Wilkes so irritating, and I was happy when they phased him out. So how surprised was I, to find him almost tolerable to even mildly humorous. Still as incompetent as ever, how did he pass the exams to make detective? I also find it interesting that they added a new character to the mix. I'm hoping his addition isn't to set-up some romantic conflict between Toni and Bill, since we are seeing the issue of them not being able to spend time together and having nothing to talk about other than work. I didn't see that ending coming! If James and Agatha don't end up together, I'd be happy. In fact I'd be happy if she didn't end up with Charles either. I don't like Agatha's outfits, but her bag and shoe game is beyond fierce! I covet! I find the show as a fun diversion that's not filled with heavy and dark mysteries. I need some light fun!
  16. Ava falling out of the chair laughing sent me into ridiculous laughter, then when she asked for another chair to fall out of, I was done! If I knew her in real life, she'd drive insane. But in this show, she's gold! I agree with all the other posts about the episode so I won't add anything further.
  17. I just pretend that the flights and hotels must be dirt cheap, so tourists are willing to roll the dice lol
  18. As lovely as Midsomer looks, I wouldn't set foot in there! I probably wouldn't even want to drive through it!
  19. I liked that the whole team was together in the episode. Is this the first time we've actually seen Monty? I may have just missed that in other episodes if he has shown up. Other than that, it was a pretty standard episode. I think I've watched this other and other crimes dramas so much, I'm getting good at picking the murderer earlier. I think that they went from a 0 to 60 on this one. They found each other attractive and interesting, but to run away, fly to New York and elope seemed like a stretch to me and kind of silly. I'd love Goodfellow to have a meteoric rise and take over from Mallory. He's so cartoonish, I just roll my eyes at him. I don't even get a sense that the actor is even having a blast playing him this way. I do think the show's been on so long now, it's getting weird. Why is Kembleford essentially the most exciting place and active in England? Makes me laugh. On tv, all murders all happen in very specific places.
  20. Agreed! I found the episode so pleasant and I knew it was because Inspector "Padre" Mallory wasn't in it. Then after coming here and realizing Mrs McCarthy wasn't in it either and I knew I didn't miss her as well. Her moralizing and judgmental attitude would have just gotten on my nerves, so happy she wasn't there. If they made Goodfellow the new inspector and he actually worked with Father Brown, although he'd have to spout the party line "Father please stay out of this investigation" while winking like I'll call you. I'd enjoy that very much. Mallory has become unbearable and unpleasant, and he is a terrible detective! How did he get promoted! The other 2 inspectors were more enjoyable with Father Brown even though he did get on their nerves. Maybe to keep the show fresher, we need someone like Goodfellow in charge. I won't be mad if the change it up a little bit if they keep the show going.
  21. Bell ringing definitely seems to be a deadly activity in the Midsomer world! Who would have thought it!
  22. I moved to Philly about 10 years ago. I'd never heard the word "jawn" ever and I thought it was so ridiculous when I did. To my astonishment, I use it pretty frequently now. It's actually a really versatile word! There are other Philly-specific things that I'm waiting to see if they make their way into the show eventually. The show has been such a delight so far and I've been really enjoying it.
