  1. New Taskmaster series 17 is now available! I know not a single one of the contestants this time, usually I am familiar with a few of them. It's kind of nice to have no opinion and see how I end up enjoying them as the series progresses.
  2. Every year I watch this I think I will never enjoy a cast more than this one, yet I'm proved wrong each year! This cast was lovely and I was only familiar with Sue Perkins from some a show called "The Supersizers...". I kind of knew Lucy Beaumont because she's married to Jon Richardson and she's been on some of his panel shows. Everyone else was new to me and what a delight they all were! First, Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma are PERFECT together! Every interaction was sublime and so fun. I need to see them do something else together! Susan Wokoma, I loved her and I had not heard of her before. Now, she's on my go to list of British comedians. She's just so lovable and relatable (well I'm also Nigerian so that could have something to do with it πŸ˜„) Her I wendt to RADA could have played really badly but she made it funny and kind of self-effacing. $30,000 baby! Lucy is hilarious! First, thank you for closed captioning! The way her mind works is a thing of beauty. The way Greg would just sit there stunned at the random things she'd say brought me to tears. Alex usually doesn't break, but she cracked him up several times which was even funnier. I almost lost it when she said "oh fuck off" to them when they were scoring one of the tasks. Just had to add the classic "I think my legs are actually arms without fingers"...to this day... Sam Campbell!! I've been mainlining his comedy on YouTube. He's just a gem. When he said of Sue and Susan "just give them the points, these are dynamite chicks", he genuinely meant that! Juilan Cleary....what to say about him. I had no idea he was a comedy legend. His contempt for Alex sustained me and I couldn't wait to see how he would convey his utter contempt for him in every episode! Another great series Taskmaster! Come on Series 17!
  3. Thanks for being so nice! After reading all of the previous responses, you would think I would know how to play!
  4. Is this person male or female?
  5. Ugh. This sucks. I thought the show was a damn delight. We just can't have nice things. I know most people felt the end of season 2 felt very much like a series finale. I guess they were right.
  6. Is it a set of antique pudding cups?
  7. I'm not familiar with the show you mentioned. I remember him as Timmy from Rules of Engagement, he played David Spade's assistant. It was driving me CRAZY, until I checked IMDB. He was really fun in the episode.
  8. Like the best thing I've seen about this "revival" (what are we calling it? lol). I adore Roz.
  9. I loved the entire episode. From beginning to end. Everything about it! I love the Franklin Institute. Everyone come to Philly and visit it, you will love it! Then go to the Museum of Art, the Barnes, the Mutter Museum, Magic Gardens...ok I don't get paid to be tourism board, so I'll stop! We just have such great and interesting museums here! One of my friend's daughter was one of the students in this episode. We all started yelling and cheering when we saw her, even though it was brief. She had such an amazing time and she loved it. Plus she earned her first paycheck :-) I really liked Janine and Gregory being grown-ups about how they felt about each other. I loved the scene with Gregory and Jacob. Jacob's reaction was everything and then some! Bro hug!
  10. Yup, definitely agree with this. This episode was actually pretty interesting and it was kinda cool to see some of the old characters show up again. It's funny with shows like this how often people get caught up in a murder plots. Like wouldn't you think, it's time to move! I only just started to watch the show and I'm already doing a rewatch, so I'm glad to have a new season.
  11. I agree. I thought at first she was making fun of him as she usually does, but when she was SO thrilled at his magic, I was also thrilled! Taraji was great casting. I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. I could feel Janine trying to hold back her excitement about seeing her mom. She'd been disappointed and hurt by her so many times before, she was trying to keep her expectations in check but still remaining somewhat hopeful. I'm glad she set that boundary with her mom and will still go on her trip that she had saved so hard for. Taraji played that scene so well (they both did), a narcissist hates to have a boundary or any kind drawn because they know they have lost their power. There was a moment where she was furious before she went with the joking and laughing. Good work. I liked that Barbara was protective of Janine, even if it may have been overstepping. She was so proud of Janine for taking the vacation AND getting a massage, she just wanted her to do something for herself. She knew just doing something on her own was a huge sign of growth. Then here comes the one person who had the potential to send her back to square 1. I get it. Plus, I loved that Ava and Vanetta did not become friends. That wouldn't even have been believable. Two self-involved people like that could never really be friends, transactional, but not friends. It was funnier that Ava recognized she was about to get her ass beat! Melissa and Jacob interacting over his magic cracked me up the whole time. Her face at the end was gold! Shout out to the Ross on City Line Ave πŸ˜€ I totally love it when they reference real places with their real locations. I always laugh, I say I know where that is lol.
  12. I totally agree. I had been excited for the new show, but it's not clicking for me. I liked Martha in her DIP episodes, but here isn't working. I didn't like the IVF storyline because it seemed so heavy and out of the blue. Her mother is awful.
  13. My Amazon home page used to place the shows that had new episodes on my homepage so I knew to watch. It hasn't been doing that for DIP so I'd have had no idea it was back unless it was for you guys. I'll watch tomorrow, since I'm actively avoiding the SuperBowl, so this will be a fun distraction (although I should be watching or at least care since I live in Philly, but I just don't care at all! But with that said go EAGLES!)
  14. The retrospective was better than expected. I was surprised at the actors who were not included for interviews.
  15. As ridiculous as I find Ava (but also thoroughly amusing, even though I would want to strangle her in real life), her outfits this season have been amazing! I really laughed every time they had a Janine stomach gurgling sound. Food poisoning is the devil. I loved that there was a Janine appreciation from multiple angles. Gregory talking about all the work and effort that is done by the teachers so their students stay on track and from Jacob talking about all the things Janine does to make their lives better. Yes, Janine is overly earnest and that can be grating, but she is kind and thoughtful and she does so many little things for them. It is sad in some way that they don't appreciate it fully, but again, Janine being Janine can be too much. Honestly, now that Ava isn't blackmailing the superintendent, how IS she keeping her job? I'd like to hear more about the people who live under the Denver airport....
  16. I agree with so many of the thoughts shared already. It was a really pleasant and enjoyable season, really comforting, like revisiting friends. Lucy Lawless is wonderful. I've loved her since Xena, and watched her a little in Spartacus which was quite the turn. Forget, that she was also in Battlestar Galactica. This has been really a really fun show to watch her in. I also felt like if the show doesn't come back, that last scene in E10 would be a nice sendoff. But I want another season, maybe 2 more! Felt nice to see Alexa acknowledge quietly to herself that she does have friends and that she's happy to have them. 10 episodes really doesn't feel like enough!
  17. I watched a couple episodes last night based on seeing it shared here, and I really liked it too.
  18. That's genuinely one of my favorite gifs! It was great that she did it so quickly too, it worked really well.
  19. Thank you! That must have been what I was thinking about! Thank you! I knew I'd seen him in something before Will and Grace because I recognized him then. He really was so entertaining in everything. It's been wonderful but equally heartbreaking to see the outpouring of love for him through social media. I hope he knew how much we all loved him πŸ’”
  20. He was in SO many shows over the years. I've been looking at his IMDB and he really showed up everywhere. For some reason, I thought he was in Designing Women but I don't see that in his IMDB. Maybe just my mind playing tricks on me! His work in Will and Grace was brilliant! He kept me laughing and entertained all through the pandemic, his videos were thoroughly delightful. What a lovely, lovely person.
  21. Absolutely devastating. He was so delightful. He definitely was the best part of this show. RIP Leslie.
  22. Welcome back show and welcome back my Abbott Elementary friends! I look forward to watching this season with all of you! Ok, that's the Janine part out of the way. Sea Barbara...please tell me more. How'd she lose those shoes? Of course Barbara would say inebriated and not drunk. lol. I do love how the show celebrates how much teachers do with such limited resources. Yes, it's always been that way but it does such a wonderful job of showing how they always come through and how their students come first for them. Loved that Barbara got that desk for her student and he was SO excited! Loved that. Jacob signing to his student was great as well. Janine was definitely going through it and it's a sign of how close the friendships have gotten that they rallied around her, even Ava. Nice to learn that Tariq paid some rent, I just figured she paid for 100% of the bills. Jacob's line about President Joey B coming through any day now with the loan cancelation was a good line. Slick! Doesn't Jill Biden watch and like the show? Maybe she can pass along a word to Joey B for us. Ava - we see you! I'll watch it again tomorrow. I felt so good to be part of their world again. I missed the show ! PS - Living in Philly, I also don't get Gritty! Yes, I know...what’s not to get! I just don't! The ending with Gritty and Gregory was perfect though. That felt like real.

    All Episodes Talk

What's so funny with everyone talking about the guest callers, no matter how many times I watch the episodes over again, I still don't remember who certain callers were! Unless it's a really distinctive voice to me (like Reba or Rosie) then I'll get to the credits and be surprised. It's funny to me but is one of the many things that makes me continue to love the show!
  24. Thanks for starting the new topic for this! I liked the show. As with others, I was surprised when murder wasn't resolved at the end of the 2nd episode, I had thought it would be a typical one and done. Not sure I'll enjoy the entire season long arc of the murder, but I'll roll with it. I appreciate that there was another story in the 2nd episode so that the entire thing isn't about the murder. I kinda figured out early that the story of the murder victim resonated strongly with Tanna Maria because of her personal background. I haven't seen many shows set in South Africa, so it's an interesting setting for me to experience and new accents to tease out!
  25. I can't say I was shocked when I saw the ex-husband in bed because it's the kind of thing TV shows do so much. I'm not even sure I'm interested in where they want to go with that. They aren't going to get back together, even if they try for a little while, it won't be the long-term relationship for her. It'll just be an annoying detour. Her ex is clearly a tool. Is he even still with the woman he cheated on Molly with, so he's still cheating? Why would she want to do that to herself again? Come on. I agree that the story is going into MacKenzie Bezos territory, which isn't a bad thing. She is doing some good things with that obscene wealth. Of course, it's more about structural issues than philanthropy, but that is for another day. It'll be a fun storyline for next season as they look for charities and organizations to contribute towards. Also, she'll never be out of money! So it's funny to even think "she's going to give away ALL her money". I enjoyed the show, started out a little slow for me, but the characters are good and there's room to explore them and their different interactions. The music was fantastic! Maya's outfits were kinda hilariously terrible to me! I don't know if it was a subtle extremely wealthy people have horrible style because these really expensive designers just make ugly a$$ clothes, but that was my takeaway πŸ˜€
