  1. This show is completely bonkers and off the rails with Ronald killing one person after another. It's almost like an SNL sketch. Not gonna lie, I can't help but be entertained at the ridiculousness of everything on the show. I'm find myself looking forward to it every Tuesday. Now sure how much involvement David E Kelley has on the show or in writing the scripts, but the lawyer representing Legarski is a classic Kelley lawyer character with her own catch phrase "Best Efforts" in the mold of a Denny Crane/Douglas Wambaugh from Kelley's previous legals shows. I hope she sticks around.
  2. I thought it was a good show overall and much better than the last few. While I appreciate and respect that Adam Kinzinger is putting his political career at risk by taking a stand against Trump, he did still vote for Trump last fall. WTF? I'm glad that Bill called him out on that. Kinzinger had 4 years to see what horrible president Trump was and then you still vote for the guy. Kinzinger though did made an interesting comment about stoking fear for fund raising. It's been a very successful tool for years now and the opposition parties (whichever side) love to use it. When it comes to self inflicted wounds related to the financial crisis, both parties are guilty of contributing to that IMO. There was a lot of financial deregulation during the Clinton years that greatly contributed to the events of the financial crisis in the 2000s. A financial crisis just doesn't happen over night and it takes years (sometime decades) for the true effects of the deregulation to have an effect on the economy. I wish Bill would have pointed it out to Moulitsas who just laid the blame solely on the Republicans because they were the party in power at the time. 100% in agreement about Bill's comment on MSNBC (or CNN) which I once enjoyed watching. There's barely any political debate happening there and this equally applies to the right leaning media stations too. They are all reporting carefully calculated a one sided views of the news so they can retain a specific targeted audience. They are afraid to have any real debates or discussions that would go against the views of their target audience. It's pretty awful that our news media has come to this. Bill even said it, there are so many news worthy events and topics happening that could be covered on a 24 hour news show yet they spend the majority of the time catering to their target audience by repeating the same news discussions day after day so they can maintain their precious ratings. Multiple episodes this season that Bill has brought up this attack on the media and I have no issues there. Schmidt is a Democrat now? Yikes not sure I want him influencing the Democratic Party. Bill did go easy on him over the Lincoln Project scandal. The amount of money that goes through super PACs is mind blowing. So easy to have illicit activities passing though there.
  3. I found the opening segment with the FBI guy talking about the American Gov't increasing their spying on it's own people to be very disturbing at the potential implications. My understanding is that it's already being done quite quite extensively by the various gov't intelligence communities. So I'm not sure what "new" spying requirements are required by the FBI to properly investigate domestic terrorists and various militia groups. I wish Bill would have simply asked Frank Figluizzi how the current laws prevent them from properly investigating terrorists groups and what new laws they want passed. Simple enough questions. Slightly off topic, but I checked Frank Figluizzi's twitter feed after the show and he posted a backstage picture from his dressing room. Looks like the RT guests get served up a whole lot of liquor before the show. What is this ... "the Bachelor/Bachelorette" ? 🙂 I thought the topics brought up on the panel were interesting enough just the actual discussion was a let down. Interestingly enough Bill Maher brought up again this week Matt Taibbi's quote about the media presenting the news only in the way that their target audience wants to hear it. This is one topic that I hope he keeps revisiting because I do agree that presenting the news in a one sided way is never a good thing and only contributes to the divisiveness. As for Trump forming a successful new party, that would probably ensure the Republicans never win an election again! Seriously though, the panel was going into the direction of the importance of a viable 3rd party. Not sure it'll ever happen in my life time, but having a viable 3rd choice in the U.S. would force both parties IMO to work together to get things done for the fear of getting voted out.
  4. I still do enjoy the show very much. I don't need to agree with everything Bill says to enjoy the show. Disappointed that Bill let the panel brush off the Matt Taibbi quote that he brought up last Friday as I was especially curious to hear what Katie Couric would have to say on the role of media in flaming the divisiveness in the country. Bill brings up the topic of media influence and quotes the following from a Matt Taibbi article: “How does our target demographic want to understand what’s just unfolded?”. That would have been a discussion that I would have thoroughly enjoyed to see explored by the panel. Bill does that too many times. Brings up an interesting point of view to discuss and lets the panel go in a different direction. btw, the article by Matt Taibbi that Bill quoted is worth reading IMO.
  5. In season 1, it was mentioned that Cobra Kai under Kreese had received a lifetime ban following the events of KK3. This lifetime ban was conveniently left out at the city council meeting when Kreese was talking to the councilwoman. Nitpicks aside. I really enjoyed this season. The show continues to hit all the right notes for me on the nostalgia factor.
  6. Pretty good episode overall imo to begin the season. Glad the show pointed out how many mistakes Nolan made and that he'll suffer the consequences. My disappointment is how they wrote out Armstrong. It felt pretty anticlamatic for me since I liked the actor and character. And as usual, crime bosses in LA continue to hire goons with the worse aim. Despite the show runner saying he won't go there with a Bradford Chen romance, he sure likes to fan the flames of the shippers with the scenes he writes for them. I'm probably the only one, but I enjoy the buffoonery antics of Smitty. The actor's deadpan delivery does it for me. For those that care about ratings, show did 0.5 in key demo last night which is not bad give the crappy lead-in and going against football.
  7. Thanks for the heads up. that was a really fun reunion. Can't wait for season 3
  8. I have the blu ray set and the video quality is pretty good IMO. Most importantly like you said the set has all the original music including "Georgia on my Mind" from the episode "M.I.A.". That song was the deal breaker for me on purchasing the set.
  9. Just speculation (and a wish!) on my part, but since the show loves to gives us nods to the original KK movies, I'm thinking the series will end with Daniel saying to Johnny "You're all right Lawrence" as an homage to the ending of the original Karate Kid movie and bringing the series full circle.
  10. Another fan here! The show is fantastic and crossing fingers for a season # 2. I did get a Buffy vibe from a lot of the dialogue on the show. The cliffhanger wasn't too bad IMO as from reading the comments above, I was expecting something much more dramatic such as the final scene showing Bowser getting shot or one of the girls getting kidnapped.
  11. You're right. I had completely forgotten about NBC bringing back RS and Pierce Brosnan having to pass up the James Bond role. Not sure how accurate this is, but IMDB writes that SZ also lost out on a big part due to NBC bring back the show from cancellation. Apparently she was cast as the female lead in Robocop and had to turn it down when she returned for the final season of RS. The first 3 seasons were fun so I wouldn't mind seeing Netflix give it a crack for a reunion season or movie.
  12. Pretty good show IMO overall. To answer Bill's question about Michael Cohen's jail sentence, I think he should have gotten more jail time IMO for participating in all those crimes with Trump. I do agree with Cohen's point about those working with Trump are not in for it just for the money but the intoxicating feeling about being able to do whatever you want and getting away with it. Jane Fonda was great and good for her in continuing to fight the good fight on climate change. Yes we shouldn't be giving up the fight but damn the future doesn't look good when you read the news and look at the data about climate change. Seems we can never make any progress on climate change despite decades of warnings. And we passed the scientist's warning for the Earth's point of no return in carbon parts per million in the atmosphere a decade ago so not sure how they are going to come back from that when it looks like producing renewal energy takes up soo in much fossil fuels.
  13. I'm late to discovering this show but damn it's hilarious. Easily one of my favorite comedies on TV right now. Kaley Cuoco is awesome. Looking forward to season 3!
  14. Not sure this is the right place but came across this video on YouTube featuring Rick Springfield in "Jessie's Girl 2".
  15. I have vague recollections of season 5 so my memory is probably off about the following timeline. At the time RS will still one of my favourite shows (along with Hunter 😉 of course) so I was anxiously awaiting its return after season 4. I think that season 5 of RS started much later that other shows that fall season and probably in a different time slot too. So I never saw the first few episodes of season 5 until I just randomly found the show one night midway in season 5. Then after seeing the character of Tony Roselli and his introduction as a romantic obstacle, I kept thinking to myself WTF have they done to this show? Gone was the charm of the previous seasons. Since it was going to the last season anyway, not sure why they bothered to introduced him.
  16. Lol yes ! The Captain's briefing room will always be empty except for our 3 rookies and their TOs appropriately spread out in the room. The mostly empty briefing room will be explained as everyone else already out on their "assignments". Rosalind's character will now be Nolan's new informant and she'll show up in each episode by way of either a phone call or Nolan visiting her in jail separated by a safety glass. Nolan will only talk about his new love interest but we'll never actually see her.
  17. This should be interesting on how they are able to film around covid-19. I'm expecting more episodes to feature police car chases and less scenes inside the police station.
  18. It's been a while since I've watched RS so my memory is a bit hazy, but I do have recollections of a few episodes that stand out in my mind. I'd have to look them up on IMDB to see which season they aired but I do remember one where LH's car blows up and she spends the night at RS's place. I remember that they had a few episodes taking place in Acapulco and those were fun. Then there's one episode that was featured in the opening credits where LH and RS break into a museum. Those credits were wonderful along with the Henry Mancini theme. One thing the 80's had was great opening credits and RS was no different. The funny thing about RS quoting old movies is that he would often quote the plot and the ending. Viewers today would be yelling spoiler alert at the TV when watching the show 🙂 For some reason I remember RS not being very good at solving the mysteries in early seasons often guessing the wrong killer. It was always Laura coming along for the rescue and solving the crime. Maybe it's time for a rewatch so that I can rediscover this classic.
  19. Hi Betty 🙂 Although it's been a while since I've seen the show, I do remember enjoying very much Remington Steele along with its cousin Moonlighting. 1980s detective and P.I. shows were the best IMO. Back then I thought it was great that RS would go around referencing classic movies in each episode when trying to solve a crime. I also remember reading a few years ago about a potential reboot/spinoff featuring the daughter of RS and LH becoming a detective. I guess it never went anywhere past the discussion stage.
  20. Yes that moment of self-reflection from Bill Maher was nice. He kind of conceded that going after the disillusioned Trump voters seemed like a lost cause with + 40 % of the population voting Republican no matter what. I wish Bill had followed up more on Thomas Frank's comment that the U.S. is a failed state and the centralist part of the Democratic party having won over the progressives. I agree with Frank's comment that the party did not want Bernie to get the nomination. I did laugh when Oliver Stone pretty much called Maher a gullible idiot and for him to get himself properly informed.
  21. Exactly. Paul's rolling of the eyes and dismissal was disappointing. Perhaps someone should remind Paul that Bill Clinton has a history a sexual improprieties including abusing his position of power with the much younger Monica Lewinsky back in the 90s. So I can certainly entertain the idea that Bill Clinton could be involved in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Heck Ghislaine Maxwell was a guest at his daughter's wedding. And someone should also tell Paul Begala that there are now multiple witnesses that have seen Bill Clinton on Jeffrey Epstein's private Island. I was actually pleasantly surprised that Bill Maher brought up the topic of Bill Clinton/Jeffrey Epstein even for a brief moment on Friday's show. The national media should be all over Epstein story given the sheer number of victims involved and all the high profile men that have been linked to the accusations by those women. You have high ranking members from both parties linked to the scandal, a prince as well as other foreign leaders. It's astonishing that there isn't any type of ongoing serious investigation or even discussion of this scandal by the news media. You can't tell me that a 24 hour news cable show can't find the time to cover this scandal. It goes to show that money and those in positions of power still have way too much dangerous influence over the supposedly independent media. We now know that ABC was threatened by the Royal Palace a few years ago for a potential news story that they planned on running about Prince Andrew being linked to Epstein. Of course ABC caved in and killed the story citing that it did not meet their journalistic standards. A lot of the names of the men involved have been leaked already and I wonder how many media outlets these days have been threatened to not discuss it. I hope Bill Maher continues to cover the scandal because those women deserve justice.
  22. Exactly. To quote one of Bill Maher's bits ... "I don't know it to be a fact, I just know it's true that Bill Maher has an unhealthy obsession on the topic of obesity". I think Bill lacks empathy when talking about the subject of obesity and he prefers to address it with a sledgehammer when there's no need to. That being said, despite Bill's clumsiness when talking about the subject, I still think his central point is correct and that we should be talking more about the subject. It is a real crisis (among others that we are facing). Too bad this administration is not leading the way on the topic.
  23. I think Patton Oswalt summed it up pretty well with a big FU to Joseph DeAngelo. Fuck his very existence. Unbelievable how many lives were utterly destroyed by DeAngelo and as the show pointed out in previous episodes, with better co-operation between police departments there was a chance that he could have been caught earlier thus sparing some lives along the way. As for what Bonnie's father said or did, whatever it was it must have put the fear in DeAngelo as he never returned and turned his rage unto his victims. On another note, I watched the Genetic Detective on ABC this summer which also showed how using genealogy to identify suspects (such as as the GSK) opens up so many possibilities for solving decades old cold cases. Let's hope this technology continues to be used by law enforcement agencies because there's unfortunately still lots of unsolved crimes out there where criminals still need to be brought to justice.
  24. While I'm not a full blown shipper of Chen and Bradford, I thought I would spin a positive light on the article for those who are shippers 🙂 Reading between the lines of the above article stating the show not wanting to cross the line in writing a romantic relationship between a superior and their subordinate, I could still see the writers addressing the chemistry issue by having one of the 2 characters developing romantic feelings for the other and then not acting on it for the reasons stated in the article. The show could then revisit the romantic issue between the 2 characters down the line in future seasons when Bradford is no longer Chen's training officer.
  25. I checked out the Genetic Detective Facebook page and Cece writes that for the moment there is no intent on the part of ABC to produce more episodes. 😞 bummer. She does however invite everyone to leave feedback on the ABC website and maybe they'll produce some more. Meanwhile Cece is still helping to solve cold case crimes. She is posting links on the Facebook of arrests being made based on her work in identifying potential suspects in cold cases.
